Only reason I'd be wary of this is how future firmware upgrades would make it impossible.

One reason I'd be wary of it is how all that information (and software) is freely available to anybody with an inkling of how to use Google.

Oh yeah, he's selling programs that lets your PSP rip DVD movies too.
Info is pretty easy to get free. The latest issue of Wired had a mini-tutorial on how to do it.
