I thought Cheapy gave a link a long time ago to the old boards. I could be wrong, but I'd bet my chinchilla's life on it.

So I am guessing you aren't sure.

I miss the old board design. Perhaps a new forum look would be in order?

Go to http://web.archive.org and look it up. Cool site! Unfortunately you can't see the old forums..

I liked the old boards. I don't like change, but I guess it had to happen sooner or later.

PHPBB is good forum software, especially considering it is free. Once you get to a certain size, it is very difficult continue using it, unless you have someone dedicated to fixing code frequently.
If you look at the list of large forums on www.big-boards.com (http://www.big-boards.com) you can see that in action. I chose this forum template as I felt it was incredibly close in style to the old forums, in an attempt to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Sure, I miss the old boards too, but really only for sentimental reasons. I feel the current CAG forums incarnation is superior in pretty much every way.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that vB version 3.5 is on the way and its got some really cool improvements. Combined with the new-hotness server (that is in my possession), soon the forums will be kicking more ass than ever.
EDIT: although Gaia Online (http://www.big-boards.com/rd/60/) is #1, and it says they use PHPBB, that is really in name only. The site's owner is likely a php and database genius. His forums are really custom work by now.

Cheapy what is your record standing on Big Boards? I thought at one time it was closer to the top?

I guess we'll be doing vB v. 3.5 on the new box?

Probably move to new server first, then upgrade to 3.5 when its ready.

I'm not sure...I thought we are at our highest now.

Oh, OK. I was reading that post like 3.5 was already ready to go.
Whatever performance we can squeeze out of CAG, the better.
There are tools you can use to tweak the CSS if you want to give yourself a custom CAG :)
You just have to root through the CSS to pull out all the tags you need to redefine/override.
When the new look came along it was pretty freaky but I do feel at home again with the current layout. It just took a little bit of time to get used to. I love the trader ratings system and some of the other enhancements as well. Man I've been here awhile now...

The site is better all around, but I can't help but be a little nostalgic towards the so called "old days". Back when it was about FrodoManTits and CC clearances (actually... there is no part of the man boobs that I miss at all, but bring on another $5 dollar clearance!)
