I'm thinking about picking up X-men legends tomorrow for $15 (hopefully) with the GGC at BB. Is this game good? How is the replay value? I love X-men and I've been looking for a good co-op game to play with some friends and family. Should I go for it?

I'm a huge X-Men fan (just check my avatar) but I couldn't even bring myself to finish this game. IMO it got very repetitive and just boring. IT was a great concept though and that's why I'm looking forward to the sequel (that and the fact that I hope Havok is a playable character this time around).

It's definitely fun to play co-op. I bought it so my boyfriend and I could enjoy a game together. I enjoyed it very much. But I wouldn't say it has much replay value, unless you want to battle against friends in the non-story mode.

As a casual comic book fan, I loved this game. I bought it to play with friends but I got too impatient since we don't play games as often as I'd like. I finished it in about 20 hours over a lazy weekend so it never got too boring. I always wanted to play the next mission to find out what happened next. You'll geek out at all the references, some cameos, etc. I think it's well worth the $15, but as stated before, there's little replay value once you're done.

I watched my friend play quite a bit of it and I played a good nugget of the co-op... I can describe the game in one word. That word being "boring".

It also felt like they took the X-Men franchise and made it a little too geared for kids.

I am not really much of a fan of the comics, but my friend who owns the game is, After playing it coop for awhile with him, I didn't find myself that impressed. So it seems it's more like dressing up a mediocre game for the fans, like the Futurama game. if you get no novelty playing as your favorite characters, there not much incentive to play.

You'd be better served by the old X-Men beat-em-up arcade game. This is Diablo with X-Men.

I found it to be boring and repetitive as several have already mentioned. I played it for maybe 3-4 hours and then gave it up as simply not fun and sold it. I'm really not looking forward to the sequel at all as the preview I read on it mentioned it is basically more of the same (and this was a good thing according to the previewer...) I have heard that multiplayer can be fun.

There was another thread on this game several months back and it was at least even as far as CAGers liking vs. not liking the game IIRC, despite the early results of this thread.

Not into x-men at all. But I liked this game a lot. I was a jackass and sold it for some stupid reason. Now I have to go buy it again awesome game IMO.

I personally liked it. I Love hack-n-slash games like Baldur's Gate and love trying to unlock the little nuggets nested within the game. I didn't even unlock everything and I made sure I smashed everthing in every room. It has some challenging sections and the amount of characters to choose from is pretty good.

I'm looking forward to playling through a second time with my son co-op. Second time around you can change the character's suits.

Looking forward to X-Men Legends 2 - xbox live on-line play, more characters, play as bad guys, oh yeah! But I'll wait for a good price drop...

I say get it...if you're into the top-down, hack-n-slash, and love x-men - you have to get it.

My gf and I played through it. It was great fun in the beginning, but as we got deeper in the game we started to lose interest. Having to keep everyone on the screen at the same time got annoying and having the computer accidentally fall off a cliff really sucked.

Hoping Legends 2 is better.

Like everyone else said, gets a bit repetitive. Co-op I think is a blast though. Its easier in Co-op as well becuase to properly play you need to sort of micro manga the heroes and the computer is nowhere near good at it. For $15 I would still buy it, you will defintaly get your money's worth.

As I've said, the first oen got old, but maybe I can finish it over Labor Day weekend. I have a feeling Live co-op will make the new one worth a purchase.

The game isn't revolutionary - "Diablo meets X-Men" is a perfect description. Though more specific, the Diablo-inspired Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games.

I'm a huge X-Men fan, and there's a lot of little things in the game to cater to them. Single-player the game probably does get a little tiresome by the end, but really, the game is better in multiplayer. There are some annoying problems (especially, as said, the ones involving keeping people on the same screen- it shouldn't be that freakin' hard!) but I think for the most part you can ignore them because you're having fun beating the ever-loving crap out of various thugs.

Yeah, I'm hoping the sequel does fix those bugs, though. Replay value isn't great. I didn't buy the game, a friend of mine did at full price - but we had a lot of fun with it, since we were both comic fans. At $15, if you like the X-Men it's probably worth it.
