Yes.
Suffering 2 might be worth it.. it has online multiplayer, does it not?
Trade 5 for a base of $25 plus whatever they get in trade might be worth it as well, I wonder how many times that could be done. That sounds a little generous for EB, though. Are you sure you don't mean trade in five and get an extra $5 to the total?

the 50% offer ? regardless I'll call around later and see if it's worth the effort, as an example I get 26.40 for THUG2 (PSP) at GS with the 360 VIP 20% Xtra offer... hopefully EB can top that ;) , thanks for the info Scorch and Op :applause:

well I am pretty sure its an extra $5.00 for all the five games (4.00 for all 4 games etc). I will double check when I work next time if not just call your local EB tomorrow to check because this deal is going on all month long. Don't forget there are exclusions, so EB will prob add a few new games to the exclusion list, and drop a few trade in values down.

Now i'm confused. First you say an additional 5 per game, nwo you say $5 total for all five games..
Now i'm confused. First you say an additional 5 per game, nwo you say $5 total for all five games..
No kidding, obviously it makes a huge difference.
But if it is $5 per game, this really isn't much different than the trade 2 get an extra $10 deal that they ran early this year. So I'm betting it is $5 per game (if trading 5). They just made it a little harder because you have to do 5 at once instead of 2. Hmmm.. actually, now that I think about it, there could be a huge difference. The trade 2 get an extra $5 ignored the standard exclusion (POX) list, and only excluded yearly sports titles. This one, though, might be similar - looking at tenzor's post, it looks like it might have different exclusions from the NBA Live and Suffering trade-in deals (which are certainly the POX list). "Some titles are excluded" vs. "exclusions apply". The latter sounds like the POX list (ie, typical excusions apply), while the former may be the sports titles again (as it sounds less restrictive) - interesting. We need more details!
And Tenzor, when you say it is going "all month long" do you mean this starts in Sept., or it goes for the rest of August, or goes now through Sept?
OK, amos_82 posted the following in an "EB deal request" thread:
--------------------
Here are the deals start tomorrow:
Trade in 4 games get NASCAR 06 for free until 8/31
Trade in 5 games get Rainbow 6 Lockdown for free until maybe 9/6
Trade in 5 games get Zelda for free until further notice
Trade in 5 games get NBA Live 06 for free until title arrives in stores
Get an extra $3 per title when you trade in 3
Get an extra $4 per title when you trade in 4
Get an extra $5 per title when you trade in 5
PO titles only on all promotions.
--------------------
So, sounds like it starts ASAP, and it is $5 per title, and it does only count for PO titles. Interesting...

i took in 5 PSP games yesterday and was quoted $92 in store credit. I'm going to bring them back in today and see if the trade in deal applies to PSP games (the flyer did NOT mention them). Also, we can see if they dropped trade in prices across the board... im hoping I at least get the $92 I was quoted yesterday.
I'll post back when I get home.

YMMV because EBs are not suppose to take in duplicate titles. That is also if EB doesn't update their exclusion list and put Outlaw Volleyball on there soon.

the bonus did not work on PSP games, but the trade in price ($92) stayed the same from yesterday.
So no $5 bonus on PSP games...
It is definitely $5 per game (for 5 trades), and it started today. This was posted very prominently in the EB I went to today. It had no specific end date, though, and the dudes there didn't know. Now we have to start figuring out what things trade for (it was easier when it was just PO vs POX!).

Whether or not they'll take multiples on the same preorder is definitely YMMV.

I don't know if there are variations on Outlaw Volleyball, but "Outlaw Volleyball: Red Hot" for Xbox is on the last POX list we got. I saw that for $2.99 new at Blockbuster yesterday too, so too bad...

Has anyone figured out more details on the new trade in 5 games for extra $5 credit deal?
Is it just POX games excluded? And is it for sure $5 for each game (seems to be the general idea)

I'd consider doing this with a lot of the games from my $5 sale thread, but I really don't value EB credit all that highly. Plus I assume 2/3rds of them are excluded at least.

It is definitely $5 per title (if trading 5 or more). The POX issue seems to be unresolved. The guys at my EB told me it was the usual list, but they just glanced at the poster in answering this and it says "some titles excluded". It really needs to be spelled out just what is excluded if it is different from the POX list!
organicow
08-29-2005, 07:08 PM
yeah, the POX issue is the key here.... I hope someone can report back with a definite answer soon!
Well if no one else finds out by tomorrow I'm going to go in with a stack and include a few I know are POX - we'll see what happens.
By the way, people are starting to post trade-in values in the EB POX thread:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61686
But so far, I think, all the trades have been PO anyway - but at least this seems to verify that the excluded titles are not MORE restrictive than the standard POX list.

Okay, so let say if I trade in 5 games (without the deals) then that would be 20 bucks. However, with this new deals, I can get 25 more bucks since it's 5 x 5 dollars. That mean with this deal, my 5 games can be total of 45 bucks credits?

at my local ebgames today i traded in a bunch of games and the guy asked me if i wanted to do any preorders...i asked what was available for the gamecube and he said Nba live and Zelda....know i knew zelda was pushed back so i asked him when it would come out and he said march but he said i could trade 5 games for 10 each and just put $5 down on zelda now...now it would have worked out better for me but i just didnt feel like being bothered 6 months down the line about Zelda for a dying system...
Anyways...the point is i thought this deal was dead since the title was pushed back so far...i guess not

I don't know where to post this, but here we go. If you have a choice, which store would you do the trade in? Long ago I did a trade in a couple games to Gamestop, but I have used all their credits. Anyway, please tell me how much I'd get for "each" of these games. Note: All of them are perfect condition with no scratches.
PS2 - Rise of Kasai (I know this game is still 40 bucks at most store)
PS2 - Project Snowblind
PS2 - Gungrave
PS2 - Psi-Ops
PS2 - Hitman 2 GH version
PS2 - Silent Hill 3
PS2 - Kill.Switch
PS2 - Dynasty Warriors 3
I know that we shouldn't trade in to game store and should sell it on Ebay for more money. However, I can't sell it on Ebay for a reason. I would call in GS or GC, but they don't give me the price over the phone anyway. Please help me out.

This is perfect as my brother just gave me 7 PS2 games and I've been waiting for a deal like this to surface.
I'm looking at taking a few games into EB. The problem is I can probably get more for them at GR - but on the other hand, I've traded a bunch there recently and was looking to spread it around a bit.
Here's what I am considering bringing in, and what they get at EB with the $5 and at GR with the 25% bonus deal:
Game: EB / GR
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $8 / $8.44
PS2 R-Type Final: $8 / $8.44
PS2 Neo Contra: ? / $10
PS2 Midway AT 1: $8 / $10
Xbox Kung-Fu Chaos: ? / $8.44
Xbox Maximum Chase: ? / $3.75
Xbox Turok: ? / ? (probably $1.50, no bonus allowed)
Xbox Mafia: $7 / $6.25
Xbox Van Helsing: ? / $3.75
GC Baldur's Gate: ? / $8.44
GC Mortal Kombat DA: $8 / $8.75
GC Fairly OddParents SS: ? / $10
GC NCAA Football '05: $9 / $10 (?)
GC Powerpuff Girls: $9 / $15.63 (?)
Of course, I need some more EB prices to be sure :D. Mafia is the only clear cut EB trade. I'll probably do Trivial Pursuit and R-Type Final as well. Then I need to come up with 2 others.

I don't know if the Rainbow Six Lockdown deal is going right now. When I was working on Sunday it wasn't in the computer. The only trade in deals ($50 credit for 5 games) that I saw are
NBA Live 2006 XB/GC/PS2
Zelda Twlight Princess GC
The Suffering 2 XB/PS2
Nascar Racing 2006 XB/PS2 EXPIRES 8/31
There will prob be a lot more games added to these kind of trade in deals, and hopefully R6 Lockdown will be one of them.

I'd add on some of the others that are at least close -- it seems like it's usually better to keep more credit at EB, since it's not too uncommon to be able to pick things up there that trade for 1.5-2x or more at GR than they cost at EB.

Yes, this is the way it works.
About the other question, has anyone tried putting POX games in as well???
One of my first EB trades was same this deal 18 months ago . . . only that time POX games were included (as I recall).
It was funny, because at that time I was trying to do a trade-in deal (my second one). But I didn't know anything about POX and PO (I had just heard about CAG). My games wouldn't work but the clerk pointed out the extra $5 deal. I know I traded in Manhunt (PS2 was going to get the Xbox version anyway) for $2x plus $5 and then a collection of other crap. But I walked away with $80 and an Edge card (I think you need an Edge to get the full bonus).
Then I learned about EBGames.com and the discount codes . . . since then I have done most of my gaming business (other than buying $5 games anywhere and the great Target rainchecks last year) with EB.
That deal turned me into an EB customer.

Does anybody know if the Nascar 06 deal is still going on, concidering the game came out today?
I attempted to trade in POX titles (Astro Boy and Blowout for the PS2) and they didn't work for the trade in deals. I was told I could still get the Nascar deal. The clerk also told me I couldn't change my pre-order should I get one with one of these trade in deals, so YMMV on that one.
Does anybody know if the Nascar 06 deal is still going on, concidering the game came out today?
Did it come out today? I was in the EB where I have my preorder and they didn't mention it to me.
Anyway, I was able to do the trade 5+ deal today. They DID NOT take the one POX game I had. However, I'm still not convinced it doesn't work because they removed it from the total BEFORE they hit the promo deal for the $5 bonus. I was hoping they'd do them all and then try the promo and see what happens. So if someone can get their EB to do that it would tell us if some POX games will work or not. (Sway - just noticed your comment - did they try to ring them up or just tell you they wouldn't work because they are POX?).
I traded the following 7 games for $60 credit (cash cost of these games was about $35). Prices are without the bonus applied:
GC Fairly Oddparents SS: $6
GC Powerpuff Girls RR: $4
GC Mortal Kombat DA: $3
PS2 R-Type Final: $3
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $3
Xbox Kung Fu Chaos: $4
Xbox Mafia: $2
So the bonus took my credit from a pathetic $25 to a respectable $60. This is a WAY better method to build up credit than the preorder and cancel tactic. It cost me 2 more games (say than using the NBA Live 2006 preorder), but also got me $10 more credit, and more importantly, saves the hassle of doing the cancel or return. And of course this is totally legit, no questions (unless they start getting like some GR stores and thinking that trading in new games you bought other places is somehow bad).
I will probably try to do one more set at another store and see what they do with the POX title. I'll try to have them ring them all up at once and then just take the POX off after if it doesn't work.
Interestingly enough, the Fairly Oddparents game (with bonus) resulted in MORE credit than GR gives. Same with PPG.

I might have to take a look at this deal a little closer now... seems at least as good as what I was getting out of the preorder deals at GR. Didn't think it had as much potential, but I might be wrong.

With this deal, and some careful game selection, you can get about the same credit as you get at GR. The problem, of course, is that you do not also get to preorder a $50 game for $30. So GR kicks EB up, down, and sideways in that respect. But I am building up some EB credit for 2 reasons. 1) I have been doing WAY too much trading at GR recently and want to spread it around a bit. 2) EB gets games that GR doesn't (such as Atlus titles and many DS games).

I just checked www.tradestop.com to see around how much I would get for these 5 games WITH the $5 bonus. I would get around $50.65 for:
Zelda: Four Swords (GBA)
Castlevania: CotM (GBA)
Fire Emblem (GBA) (Getting FE: PoR for GC)
Advance Wars 2 (Getting AWDS for DS)
Ghost Recon 2 (XB) (Not gonna have an Xbox come Wednesday)
I'm looking forward to getting an Edge card! How much do they cost?

Not to ruin your plan or anything, but I don't think GBA games get the $5 bonus. Bring them to GR - you will get the 25% bonus with them there.

And for that other kid: GET OUT OF THIS THREAD!
(Sway - just noticed your comment - did they try to ring them up or just tell you they wouldn't work because they are POX?)
Good question. The clerk checked to see what was PO and what was POX first so I assumed the POX wouldn't work with the deal. POX might work if he didn't sort them out first.

Metroid Prime 2 got me $7, plus $5 bonus for trading in 8 games. $12 for a game they sell for $34.99. Someone tell me again why I did not just keep it? And for anyone with these...
Viewtiful Joe $2
Nightmare of Druaga $2
Crash: Wrath of Cortex $3
LotR: Third Age $4
LotR: RotK $4
Sonic Mega Collection $7
Xenosaga $4
$73 credit spent on Makai Kingdom and Katamari Damacy. In retrospect, probably should have just kept some of those, but I have a back-up of about 10-12 games as it is, and I really have been wanting those two, so trading in 8 'eeeeh' titles for two I really want is probably worth it. Thanks OP for the trade-in deal topic.
The $5 deal is looking better all the time - it appears that EA Sports is lowering the prices of all their Fall games to $39.99. That is great for people who want to buy those games, but not great for the preorder deal EB has running - now you have to trade 5 games to get a $39.99 game. I'm definitely glad I used the $5 bonus deal today.

I'm definately going to have to check this deal out. What happens if I trade in seven? Will I get the $5 bonus for all of them or just for five of them? I'm still confused a bit on how it all works (but I do realize they cannot be on the exclusion list).

I took a crap load of games to trade in yesterday and got $117 with the $5 extra deal.
Here's what I traded in
Game (Price with Bonus $5 per game)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Jax & Daxter 1 ($6.50)
Fable ($12.00)
Bards Tale ($8.00)
Sly Cooper 1 ($8.00)
Terminator 3 Redemption ($8.00)
Rygar ($6.00)
Got $48.50 in credit and put it all towards Xmen Legends 2. Thanks for the tip on this deal, OP!

So.. I've been wrestling with my conscience all week about dumping off a ton of games that I don't play to this deal to try to get a DS. I figured if I traded in 25 games, I could have a base of around $125, then the values of the games themselves. Most of the stuff I traded in were games i'll probably never play again. My bro swung by and picked them up so I don't know the exact value yet, but i'll have a receipt when he drops the stuff off later. Here's what I traded in, though.. all XBox:
Amped 2
Armed & Dangerous
Dead or Alive Ultimate
Dynasty Warriors 4
Freedom Fighters
Full Spectrum Warrior
Guilty Gear X2 #Reload
Hulk (the first one)
kill.switch
Kung Fu Chaos
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (I intend on buying this one again)
Midnight Club 2
Mortal Kombat: Deception Kollector's Edition (it was Melina, easy to find, no reason to keep it.. if it was Scorpion or Raiden, I would've kept it)
Ninja Gaiden (since NG:B is coming out soon)
Otogi (Sorry Puumba.. I played it for a while and it was just.. well, weird)
Outlaw Volleyball
Outrun 2
Panzer Dragoon Orta (I considered this for a while then decided it's not as "rare" as everyone says it is, hell, it's preowned for under $10 ac on the site)
Rallisport Challenge 2
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Sims: Bustin' Out
Soul Calibur 2
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Unreal 2
Urbz: Sims in the City
Unreal Championship, even though it was not on the pox list, is excluded, as well as Outlaw Golf: 9 More Holes.
My credit before promotion: $86
My credit after promotion: $212!!
Needless to say, I chose a DS, the Chihuahua version of Nintendogs, and Kirby's Canvas Curse, and I have an edge card with $26 on it left over. Not bad! Thanks OP!!!

Another fool proof way to switch your $50 credit to another game is to simply ask for a gift receipt (I always just say its a b-day gift if they ask why) when you pick up the game upon release. Then just wait a day and go back to any Ebgames with the still sealed game and the gift receipt (not the trade in receipt) and you won't have any hassle getting your $50 to use towards another game.

I'm lookin', I'm lookin'. I had the receipt laid out in front of me but it magically disappeared. The only ones I remember off the top of my head were DOA Ultimate was $6, MK: Deception was $10.. both before the $5 bonus.
EDIT: Found it. It was folded up underneath a notebook and car manual (wtf?).. here's what I got, before the extra $5
Soul Calibur 2 - $3
kill.switch - $3
DOA: Ultimate - $6
Ninja Gaiden - $5
Metal Arms: GITS - $3
Midnight Club 2 - $3
Return To Castle Wolfenstein - $2
Outlaw Volleyball - $2
MK: Deception Kollector's Edition - $10
Kung Fu Chaos - $4

Unreal 2 - $2

Panzer Dragoon Orta - $2
Freedom Fighters - $2
Urbz: Sims in the City - $4
Sims: Bustin' Out - $4
Hulk - $2
Outrun 2 - $4
Armed & Dangerous - $2
Amped 2 - $2
Guilty Gear X #reload whatever the hell it's called - $4
Total before promotion: $87 or so
Total after promotion: $212 even

Yeah. I'm going to wait until the last few days of September, then I'm going to probably offload my entire lot of XBox games at EB.. and why not, I thought about charging $10 per game but this trade-in deal brings up a lot of values to MORE than $10. I'd come up a few bucks short of what i'd have if I sold them seperate, but I think I could live.. besides that, i'll be busy with Lockdown, XMen Legends 2, Burnout Revenge and Far Cry: Instincts until the 360 comes out.. if I could dump these now and get a 360 premium bundle with some games, I think i'd definately do it.. I'd hang on to the collector's edition of games and a few other games like Riddick and San Andreas, but other than that.. I could live without a lot of them...
Thanks again, OP. This deal is insane. I'm lovin' it™!
Pryzm and MGS II (both Ps2) are now POX.
Damn, stoned, sorry - I hope these aren't used games you got at GR after I posted that they worked... Though MGS2 was on the list I have (I had used MGS2 for Xbox on Aug 9th - along with the PS2 Pryzm). So far I have been lucky not to get stuck with a single game I bought for EB deals. Looks like we need another updated POX list, though as NFL Street for PS2 has gone off, and Pryzm has gone on - who knows what else has moved...
Today I did another 5 games, netting $42 credit for about $23 spent.
Nothing earth-shattering, but an update nonetheless (before bonus):
Xbox Mafia - $2
PS2 Bad Boys - $4 (and my Best Buy just got about 10 more of these shelved - I picked up 3 today before heading in to EB)
PS2 Trivial Pursuit - $3
Xbox Kung-Fu Chaos - $4
GC PPG - $4
Also GC NCAA Football 2005 gets $3 and PS2 Neo Contra gets $4, but I didn't use those as I think I can make better use of them at GR.
I also did the gift receipt return deal on the NASCAR I picked up the other day. I felt sort of bad about that so I put a preorder deposit on Katamari. At least the store that took my return will get a preorder credit (and I will pick it up too!).
Now I need to figure out what to do with my EB credit :D. Thinking of getting Grafitti Kingdom, and saving the rest for DS titles GR doesn't get in (Pac N Roll is one example though I'm holding off on that for now).

Umm...sort of, but you're saying AND for each deal listed.
What you actually got was $10 extra for your PS2 (which ended on 8/28, so you got that as an extra bonus :bouncy: ) and +$5 for each of your 7 PO games. It's strange how they mixed the deals together like that.
if they were all "and", you would have gotten $75 extra for your trade.

As a matter of fact they were the GR games, so out of pocket 7$, but I'm going to try and return them. One of the disks has a GR sticker all over it, some stupid security device. I would have never had bought it had I saw the sticker. What idiot at GR thought this up. No collector is going to accept a disk that has been defaced. I had heard about such a device in a GR thread last year, but I had never seen one. God I hope they wised up and discontinued the practice.

Actually, no. I try to get games at GR, but they have very little left at $6.99 that qualifies at EB.
They were all brand new games. I got the Fairly Oddparents game at Target clearanced for $5. The rest all came from Toys R Us. They were all $5 except for Mafia which I got for $2.24. Thus about $35 with tax on some of the TRU items.

What's the base trade in value for a GBA SP? They have a +$5 deal for the unit or +$15 for the unit and any 3 games, but I want to know what that's on top of.
Today (9/5), traded, before $5 bonus:
PS2 Neo Contra: $4
PS2 Bad Boys: $4
PS2 Atari Anthology: $4
Xbox Kung-Fu Chaos: $4
GC Fairly Oddparents Shadow Showdown: $6
and my last Powerpuff Girls Relish Rampage: $4
Got $56 credit for $31 spent.
Was quoted $10 for GC FIFA Street, which I just picked up for $9.98 from Target. I can get $19.69 for that at Gamerush though. Interestingly enough, Atari Anthology was only $3 at GR - so a much better deal at EB on that one.
Was also quoted $2 for PS2 Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.

Thanks for the update tenzor! But, man, I really wish they were doing a trade 4 or 5 for Burnout Revenge deal instead of this. It's great that there are no exclusions, but, seriously, getting an extra 10% on your $.50 POX trade-in really isn't all that special :D. In fact, I fail to see how this deal is better in any way than the extra $5 deal - the most you'll get out of the 10% on recent release is about $3, right? And since any game like that will certainly be PO, you might as well go for the $5. I guess this deal is for someone that has only one or two games to trade in since it is better than no bonus.
The second deal sounds better on paper, though I personally have no interest in the Final Fantasy movie :D.

gamespot does not take games, they are a website. gamestop, however, does; EB will also take them, though theoretically they will not work for these promotions, and you get 10% less on your trade-in. all depends on the clerk (and more specifically, how you approach them - i speak from experience).

Did we ever establish if the +5 trade deal uses the full exclusion list ?

Yes, I'm pretty sure it does. The other day, I had one POX rung up with all the rest and it was still $1 after all the others were bumped up $5.

Well Hitman 2 is on the POX thread list by vietgurl. I for one want to trade in that game but wonder if EB going to take it. Anyone have any idea?
Earlier this week traded:
-GBA: SP Sys
-4 GBA games( AW2, KoF EX2, Metroid, Golden Sun)
-XBOX Sys
-8 XBOX games( Forza, PD:Orta, Riddik, NBA Street 3, GGX2, Fable, WW11:8, Ninja Gaiden,)
-Accessories ( 2 controllers, Adv Pack, DVD Remote)
Total: $273.00
Good deal?

I went in and traded in 9 games for $75 store credit. The list includes the $5
PS2
Psi-Ops - $8
Arc the Lad:Twilight of the Spirits - $6
Project Snowblind - $9
Chaos Legion - $7
Ratchet & Clank:Going Commando - $11
Spy Hunter 2 - $8
Mega Man X7 - $9
Castlevania:Lament of Innocence - $9
GC
True Crime:Streets of LA - $8
Not too shabby considering I didn't pay all that much for these games to begin with. A number of them I got more for than I paid (Chaos Legion, Spy Hunter 2, and Mega Man X7 I got at the $5 CC sale way back when, Arc the Lad I got for $2 from the Overstock deal).

So, is EB pretty much done with the "trade in 5, get <insert game here> free, ever since the recently realized credit-flipping antics with the Nascar deal, or do they only do that on very rare occasions for really popular and/or craptacular games?
I would have loved to get Ultimate Spider-man for PO 5 trades.

If you trade in more than 5 games that are eiligible, do they all give you 5 extra, or does the count 'start over'? I've got about 7-8 things to try to trade in, I'll probably break about even cashwise, but trading somethings I don't play for something/s I do play is a good deal.

I had some that were preowned from EB, I didn't take the stickers off totally, I just took off the price or inventory code. She just opened the case and move the liner out so she could scan the UPC.
8 games. They offered 20 bucks. I think 5 of them were POX. I gave them the three non-POX for 17 and change.
And the extra 10% for Edge membership, came on top of the 3 dollar bonus, so that was nice.
Some trade-in values from today (Sat), without bonus.
Used the following to get the $5 bonus:
PS2 Shellshock Nam '67: $4
PS2 Neo Contra: $4
PS2 Atari Anthology: $4
PS2 Narc: $7 (!)
PS2 Bad Boys: $4
Got $48 in credit.
Used the following for a "Suffering 2" preorder:
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $3
PS2 Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance: $2
PS2 R-Type Final: $3
PS2 Rainbow Six 3: $3
GC Baldur's Gate: $2
All of these games cost me $5 each, so not too bad...
Also pricechecked Shadow Hearts Covenant - it gets $7.

I had a good day.
The clerk had to fuck with the prices alot but it ended up making sense. He gave me the Zelda preorder deal plus 10% for 5 of the games, and the +$5 plus 10% on the remainder. I promise it ended up making sense, but it was confusing.
Also, the zelda deal wouldn't ring up initially because of the other deals overriding it or something... in any case he fixed all the prices to work. Here's what I ended up getting
Some prices after Zelda preorder deal +10% and some after +$5 deal +10%.
PS2 Ico - 10.50
PS2 Viewtiful Joe - 11.00
GC Star Wars: Rogue Leader - 11.00
GC Sphinx - 11.00
GC Viewtiful Joe - 11.00
PS2 Ace Combat 4 - 11.00
GC I-Ninja - 9.40
GC Tony Hawk Underground - 8.30
Trade-in Total: 83.20
83.20-49.99 Zelda Preorder = 33.21 credit leftover
I am very satisfied.

Hi guys, I'm going to sell all these games soon. But before I go this week, can someone please estimate the total price with the bonus that EB will give me:
PS2 games:
kill.switch
silent hill 3
rise of kasai
psi-ops
project snowblind
dynasty warriors 3
gungrave
suikoden 4
*viewtiful joe* (It's a GC game)
I tried to see what price TradeStop.com pay, and I added all the games except Suikoden 4 (overstock) and got around 34 dollars. If EBgames give the same amount, plus the 40 bucks bonus (when you not count Suikoden 4) then the total I'll get is 74 dollars.
Thanks

You can always pick up the game and take the reciept. Then give the game and receipt to someone else (friend, gf, wife, etc.) and they will give you store credit. I did this with Nascar 2006, except I took the game to another EB and they gave me the store credit on my Edge card.

Nascar 2005 $10 + $5

NHL 2005 $4 + $5
WWE Smackdown v Raw $6 + $5
SW Rogue Leader $2 + $5
SW Rebel Strike $6 + $5
Piglets Big Game $4 + $5
Mickey Mouse $4 + $5
Normal $47 trade in + $40 bonus(Yes it almost equaled the trade in values!!!!!!)
Total $87. Havn't decided what to do. I was unexpecting bonuses for Nascar 05 or NHL 05 since they are sport games and the following year has been released. So that was an unexpected $10.

This thread needs a serious bump and here it is.
IF you combine this deal with EB's B2G1F deal from 9/16-9/18, you can earn ~65 cents profit per PO title.
I bet you're not following me.
1. Buy PO-Enter The Matrix GC, PO-Beyblade: STB GC, PO-Crazy Taxi GC, PO-Midway Arcade Treasures GC, PO-Lost Kingdom GC and PO-Batman: Vengeance GC. After B2G1F and Edge card discount, you are out $38.12 (with 6% sales tax).
2. Immediately trade in the 6 titles. Each title has a base trade in value of $2. Another $5 is added on to each title. So, you receive $42 store credit.
3. Lather, rinse, repeat by buying the games with your new store credit. It takes about 707 titles churned to preorder a XBox 360. You end up with a fully paid off Xbox 360 for $38.12 spent and a large chunk of time taken (and probably a nasty phone call/lifetime ban/canceled Xbox 360 from EB games).
Enjoy and flame as necessary.

In terms of getting enough money for a Xbox 360, your way would definitely be faster and raise fewer eyebrows at EB/GS Corporate.
I'd rather buy preorders of Suffering and NBA Live for $32.
Doing the Xbox 360 for $38.12 scheme would probably cost somebody at EB games their job. I'm just not in the business of making enemies.

or after 5 games it's nothing extra???
ALSO anyone know if you get extra trade in credit if you have a EB Edge card or are EB Edge cards ONLY gives you discounts on BUYING USED games from them not trading them in????

YES - you get the extra $5 on all games if 5 or more are traded in - look at the post above yours, for example. You do not get extra trade-in credit with the Edge card (they had a deal for a few days last week where you did but that is generally not the case).

Hey guys..sorry I am new to all of this but I have a few simple questions.
This deal with 5 games or more trade in, is it valid at any EBgames?
Would Softetc or gamestop count since they are all part of the same chain now?
I have bought used games from them before. Can I trade those in, and would I have to remove the used sticker?
This $5 extra per game (after 5 games traded in) works on any game...because I have some games that I bought from them for a real cheap price...like $3-$7 dollars and it seems that I will be getting back more money than what I purchased them for.

Any EB Games - but NOT Gamestop or anywhere else.
You can certainly trade in games you bought at EB - and yes, it is a good idea to remove the stickers, though I don't think it really matters.
However, if you bought the games that cheap from EB they are most likely not qualifying titles. See this thread for a not quite up to date list of "POX" (PreOwned eXcluded) games that DO NOT qualify for the extra $5:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61686&page=1
You can always bring them in and check though - have them scan them all and then try for the bonus - POX games won't be bumped up and they will only give $0.25 to $1 for them. Keep in mind you need 5 QUALIFYING titles to get the extra $5 per game.

Just hit up my EB for this deal today, and was able to get Nintendogs and Meteos for $7 total after my trade-ins.
Here are the Xbox games I traded, with prices before the $5 boost.
Metal Arms- $3
Links 2004- $3
Beyond Good & Evil- $2
Project: Snowblind- $4
Spiderman 2- $4
Prince of Persia- $4
Crimson Skies- $2
Total with $5 per title extra was $57, so I'd say I made out pretty good. This deal rocks!

Did you accept $1 for Sky Gunner?
The game isn't worth much money but is somewhat in demand . . . you could trade it on CAG.
I'm also trying to start a "movement" . . . if you are offered less than $2 for a game . . . keep the game and leave it on a bench in the mall (with a note?) and then watch from a distance as some gamer has a blast finding a free game.
I know this is nutty . . . but what is the point of getting a dollar for a game?

We're all waiting for info on that. I asked at one store and they said they might know about October deals on Sunday (that being Oct. 2nd, I'd say that's a pretty safe assumption!).

Never seen them do a deal for a PC game, but I'd be all over it if they were.
I did my final $5 bonus trade today. Nothing new in terms of pricing and PO vs POX, except that Call of Duty Finest Hour dropped from $6 to $5 (before bonus obviously). They also refused to take 2 of them at once as part of the 5 - oh well, so I had to throw in a Bad Boys...

I finally got in on EB's September trade-in deal, and I'm very happy they don't check the discs. I traded in some pretty badly scratched discs (originally purchased this way for cheap) and still got full credit for them.
Today's trade-ins w/o bonus:
Kingdom Hearts (badly scratched) $7
Siren $8
Call of Duty PS2 $5
Manhunt PS2 (badly scratched) $2
Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance GCN (scratched) $3
I-Ninja GCN $4
Ace Combat 4 $2
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter PS2 $4
Total credit w/bonus: $70
(I've done much worse in the past, believe me.) :D

09-30-2005, 08:10 PM
I traded in the following (before bonus amount shown):
R&C: Going Commando $5 (got free from McD giveaway)
Call of Duty: FH $5 (got at TRU for $4.99)
Call of Duty: FH $5 (got at TRU for $4.99)
Splinter Cell $1 (got for free when I purchased Prince of Persia)
Prince of Persia $4
MOH:Frontline $2
Total = $52. I could have done better if I used a Pre-order deal but I didn't want to deal with the hassle.
I asked the guy if there were any October deals and he said not that he knows but the current deals were still running in October - basically $10 per game. I said: "for credit for a Pre-Order game?". He said "yea, but you don't have to get the game. But I'm not supposed to say that." OOoooh, I could have gotten $8 more dollars.... Good to know for next time.

It comes in some kind of metal collector's case, plus you get a lithograph and a soundtrack(I think, I really cannot remember the exact bonuses). A cool collector's case is enough for me.

Some of these games were brand new unopened, I never got the chance to play them, nor did I think I'd ever have the time. It's unfortunate that I had to open these to trade them in because I refuse to give EB a brand new game that they'll give me PO value and turn around and sell for new. I wish I knew how to use EBAY, but it just seems like such a hassle.
I need to learn if I ever wanna get good value for my unopened ZOE2: Second Runner. Aparently it's a rare game and fetch's $80-$100 on EBAY. Sweet.

When you sell a game to them, they open it up and sell it as previously played. They don't sell them as new. At least, that's what they do around here. I even told the clerk he could sell my WWE Day of Reckoning as new if he wanted to, since he was willing to take 2 from me in one trade, but he said they have to sell it as PO. As I was leaving with my new SP2, I saw him unwrapping the game...

You took $15 for Doom 3?!? Wow . . . but I guess its on its way down in value . . . I'm waiting to buy it for $15 :-0
I've seen them open the games right after I trade them in . . . I often trade in sealed games because if they go POX, I don't trade them in and want to keep them sealed.
I think their system automatically prints out used price tags as they are accepted for trade. So they can get them on the shelf as used games very quickly.
Lemme guess....this ended yesterday didn't it?
