Purple Flames: I'd say stick with Steve. King is very hard to use in high level play. With Steve I suggest getting the infinite down, it's very easy to do, and even if you don't do the full infinite you can do the easy 90% juggle.

Abuse his ALB mixups... 3+4,2... 3+4,d+2... and then 3+4~3+4,1, 3+4~3+4,d+1...

His wall game is easily the best, you can destroy people easily if you know how to set up a wall combo properly.

His juggles travel very far... so use his 3+4,2 for a CH stun and then carry them to the wall or make use of his d/f+2... which is 100% safe...

Also again, did anyone here bother to purchase or read the BradyGames Tekken 5 guide? It's a really good resource, one of the best strategy guides for fighting gamers... it's a great way to start out... It was written by some of the top players in the US... If anyone wants a good base to build off of, you can pick up the guide and it'll be a great help, especially if you're new to the series.

For more current strats(yes the game has evolved heavily since the guide was written), you should always check www.tekkenzaibatsu.com forums...

I'll be surprised if Capcom releases a new Street Fighter (worth buying.) Mainly because most of the SF staff went bye bye, and they're worried more about Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4 more than a lowly 2D fighter. Face it, Capcom's going to next gen, they don't give a shit about 2D anymore.

Unless it's a SFA3 re-release on the PSP. Which won't mean anything since most people can't stand playing a portable 2D fighter more than 5 minutes before becoming a victim of sleep.

The casual American gamer won't buy a 2D fighter for any portable system (DS or PSP.) Even tough SFA3 might be a great game, It's nothing without human competition. How many of you know people that own a PSP system and Darkstalker 3 Choas Tower? I'll still not understand how reviewers gave Darkstalkers 3 a decent review while KOF 2K2 blows it away but got 6's and '7s. I guess being on a portable system helps, even though it doesn't matter how the game plays.

As I understand it, a Tech Crouch for example, is a move/attack that technically crouches you, as in someone can swing over your head. But you didnt tell them to crouch, its part of the move.

in a way, it's probably more financially a wise decision for namco to release it on console, since the expensise for a dvd case+ manual + disc are pretty cheap compared to something you need to hook up to an arcade cabinet.

I have to agree that SF:II animated movie was the best video game movie I've ever seen, with Fatal Fury in 2nd... Mortal Kombat was okay... but partially because I saw it when I was young in Puerto Rico (yes, with spanish subtitles). It gives me good memories, but that's pretty much it.

I'm still skeptical about a SF4, but I would love to see it. Also Neo Geo BC will come out for the PS2 in Japan this winter. That was quick. Fighters don't stay in the arcades to long anymore. It's pretty fast, there's a bunch of interesting characters, and there's a lot of easy combos, like Guilty Gear x2, but of course the really good ones that do a lot of damage are pretty difficult to pull off. there's 3 attacks and a parry button and you can dash all over the place. the sprites are bit chunky, but the animation is always a smooth 60 fps, with kick ass backgrounds and the music is really tasteful and well done.

Hokuto no Ken looks very cool, it's Arc Systems so I'm expexting to be fast and have crazy combos. I loved the anime when I was a kid, I'd love to see the newer version.

It's nice to see SFZ3: DU will have Eagle, Yun, Maki, and Ingrid. Still the game's 7 years old, but what else would you expect from Capcom.

They won't... this is basacially an upgraded port of the GBA version with Ingrid added in, and they want to keep it exclusive to draw sales - the game is probably one of the only reasons I actually keep my PSP around.

Luckly, the same group of people at my college have changed... it's now dominated by tekken players, so it seems to be going smooth now. Cool two new characters, I'm playing through the home version of Tekken 5 right now. Do you think that Namco will release Tekken 5 DR as a greatest hits? I hope if they do, that I can transfer my memory card data to the updated game.

BTW, I'm a real fan of the Tekken 5 music. Though, some songs are missing from the BGM feature. I would like to know the title of the song that plays when you are at the games menus and character customization. Any idea?

I like it alot (in more ways than one), but I think Namco has gotten it down to an art form, and Team Ninja/Tecmo has just kept messing with the physics too much... it was great in DOA2, but in DOA3 there was really not as much. Some of the most interesting physics I've scene has been in rumble roses, it's almost like a jello bounce mixed with too much water... :lol: jeeze, I like this part of games too much... sad

I watched the anime Street Fighter Alpha Movie earlier today. I haven't seen it since it came out many years ago, so I kinda forgot what it was about. And for that I'm thankful because what a crappy story. Just because the video game has a boring story doesn't mean the anime has to. The actual animation was "hoo hum" nothing special. The only cool thing was Zangeif's fight, that was cool man, and Dan getting his ass kicked, TWICE!

But if anyone is familiar with the movie, did you notice all the Chun Li waist shots? There must have been like 20 shots of her big ol' hips. I just hope the new SF anime isn't crap like this one. One of the worst anime's ever.

the best thing you can do to get a pretty damn good street fighter story that is very true to the series is by picking up the Street Fighter comics done by UDON... if you need a taste for them (as well as some other decent series... oh god! I own a copy, but I have no idea where to get one cheap. Megaman and BB Hood (Bulleta) are also in the game as "kinda" hidden characters. A big armored guy named Arthur is in it, I guess it's supposed the Arthur from Goul's n' Ghosts.
