I had no idea that a *completely new* Mario game was coming out for the DS. The official sequel to Super Mario World is due out in November :bouncy:
Since I'm in the UK, I may have to wait much longer though unfortunately. The selection of DS games currently in the UK stinks. I'm not sure whether to finally go and get my DS now, or wait until there are at least more than ten games out for it in the UK!
I was going to get a DS with Kirby, but it seems Kirby isn't out in the UK, so I'm forced to wait.

I really want to play that game but i HATE handhelds... And I doubt they will make a game boy player type device for the DS so I may have to buy the damn thing to play that game=-(

This is a sequal to Super Mario World? Holy crap! What's next, SMB 4?

I don't think it's a sequel to SMW. IIRC, they're billing it as next in line from SMB3. Whether it will measure up to the classics is yet to be determined. As someone who thinks Nintendo has lost the magic they had in the 80s and 90s, I'm pessimistic. (Remember how excited some people were about Super Mario Sunshine?)

ok, perhaps not the sequel to SMW, but it is the first 2D Super Mario Bros game since SMW. It looks really cool. Have you seen the video?

It could have something to do with the fact that most of us that grew up in the 80's and 90's were still young. Were all grown up now and our imaginations arn't what they used to be.

how hard would it actually be to make a NEW game that looks and plays just like SMB3 or SMW???? Not hard. I think the people over have brain problems.................

OK cool, if the US versions will play on the UK DS system (do they? it hasn't worked this way with other consoles) then I think that's a good idea, thanks for the tip.
Imamario2, couldn't help noticing you've got Pilotwings (and just about everything else ;)) in your collection, that's defo one of my favourite SNES games ever.
Stocker, from what I've seen this actually is a new game that plays just like SMW and SM3.

Uh, I hope you know that this game more likely than not will not ship this year anywhere. Nintendo.com lists the release date as "announced", while ebgames doesn't even have a listing for it, and Gamestop lists its US release at 4/3/06

Yeah what is up with your "info"?
The game is not coming out this year.
The sequel to Super Mario World is Yoshi's Island.
It's just a new 2D Mario.

If the rumors of a touch screen on the Revoloution controller is true they may have a ds player on that

i dont think this will happen even if there is a touch screen on the new revo controller. keep in mind that youd have to move your head up & down instead of your just your eyes. to me this sounds too stressful on the neck and maybe not enough time (movement) for some DS Games.
i dont think the big N would make a move like this

What's up with your info? Yoshi's Island isn't a real sequel to SMW; they just tacked on "Super Mario World 2" here in the U.S. to help the game sell better. Not that it isn't a fantastic game, just not the sequel to SMW.

As far as I know, DS isn't regional. But I just know this because I know a lot of people who have imported Japanese games for their US DS's (jump superstars and daigasso seem to be popular), so I'm presuming all DS games work on all DS's.

Dave85 and alongx, it's been a while since I've got back into games and gaming, so if I've made any subtle errors with my info then please go lightly eh! If you're feeling angry you could always take a few deep breaths :bouncy:
Nevertheless, I'm still excited about the new 2D mario, the videos look cool and I'm definitely going to get it when it comes out.

Just to clarify, there are no regions on neither the DS or GBA.

Just ignore David85. He trolls on the Nintendo boards quite often. Most people don't pay him any mind.

I was just saying not to get your hopes up for a 2k5 release, because it won't happen. I also should have said [but refrained] that the bouncy smile is well annoying. What I did not say is not to get excited about the new Mario, because it will be excellent, whenever it gets here.

My info comes from the fucking game cart itself.
Is it a true sequel? No, but neither is Mario 2 NES here in the states and it's still considered the fucking sequel.
