View Full Version : Would it be worth it for me to trade my PSP for a DS?

I'm bored with my PSP and wondered if it would be worth it for me to trade, I've gotten a few offers for it and the DS games lineup is looking a lot better then the PSP's.

what are you looking to get for your PSP?

I would, as long as you get a couple DS games with it to even out the trade.

Damn straight. The DS is hot right now and won't be stopping anytime soon.

I wouldn't, based on the assumption that there won't be a price drop on the PSP anytime in the next year or so (according to Sony).

I would definately. I enjoy my DS soooo much more than a PSP.

I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy but for some reason think the DS is stupid, its less convineint for using for the intended purpose of portable games

No, don't do it. There are some good games coming out for PSP, so be a little patient.

Most (if not all) of these are coming out this year too:

GTA: Liberty City Stories
Armored Core: Formula Front
Star Wars Battlefront II
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo
Mortal Kombat: Deception Unchained
Infected
GT4: Mobile
Monster Hunter Portable
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Tales of Eternia
Untold Legends 2
Burnout Legends
Daxter
The House of the Dead 4
Tokobot
Devil May Cry
MediEvil Resurrection
Advent Shadow

PSP is an amazing gadget, but a mediocre game platform.

I'd personally keep it for the gadgetness and recommend saving up for a DS.

The DS definitely has a nicer looking future, but you have to make sure nothing in the PSP's future is really going to make you regret making the trade.

List still don't look promising..
I like Crisis core... & tales of eternia tho

Anyway most of those games, I rather play the console version instead... noting what happen w/ the shitty Midnight club port...

I agree completely. As a gaming system, it's pretty much crap so far. Metal Gear Acid is the only game I've really enjoyed. But as a pure piece of tech, I'll never get rid of it, at least not any time soon. They need to admit it's not a portable console, quit porting ps2 games to it (almost none of which have transferred well at all) and concentrate on making more original games for it. Lumines was also good. Didn't really feel like I got my money's worth at $40 though. If the game prices were 30/40 instead of 40/50, I'd like it a WHOLE lot more. Just hoping a $20 starts before too long.

I say trade it in.

And whoknows, your list... about 1/2 of thouse will Not be out this year.
Infact I'm more then willing to bet Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII alone won't make it here till Q1 2007, Maybe Q4 2006 if Square cares about the PSP at all.
And really that list isn't all that impressive, there is only like 3 decent games on that list that I would want to play. and 9 of them I would much rather play their Console counter part.

I have both and I do play the DS more than the PSP. The only reason for this is the current game line up. I have only bought one game since the PSP's launch (I got 5 at launch). I enjoyed the ones I got, but very few games have been released since the launch and almost none of those were woth buying. So, for pure gameing, trade it for the DS and a few games. You will have more fun playing with the DS.
However, I also agree that there is alot more to the PSP than just gaming. You can play movies, MP3's, pictures, search the web and (if you haven't upgraded your PSP) play a ton of home made apps. If you haven't looked into this yet, do it before you trade. You could realy miss out on some great features that you would want to use.

About the MC3: DUB port it was almost perfect besides load times so....I hope you don't think Chaos Theory on DS is a good port, that game is garbage.

According to IGN all the 2005 PSP releases:

Wow out of that whole list there are only 3 games I would want and there pretty much just ports.

So many of thouse are just ports of the PS2 versions. Also I wouldn't count on over half of thouse TBA 2005 games to make it out by the end of 2005. IF they don't have at least a Quarter they are getting released in they are more then likely not coming this year.

I didn't feel like going threw and removeing all the games that were all ready released. I all ready had to go threw and copy them letter by letter since the damn list I found was broken up by letter.

I wil agree I hope there are more DS games coming out, but hey if not, its no big deal. Rather have New and orignal games then Console ports.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I was going through the PSP game list I had to go through and take out all the UMD movies which was somewhat of a pain

But both systems do have their share of Ports and original games so its all based on personal preference on what types of games you like.

Indeed.
If the games I liked on the PSP were more then just slightly updated ports I would be getting one. But I just have a hard time justifiying spending the money on one when I can just play the game at home already.

Indeed.
If the games I liked on the PSP were more then just slightly updated ports I would be getting one. But I just have a hard time justifiying spending the money on one when I can just play the game at home already.
The DMC series being put on the PSP was more than enough reason for me to buy one, and when Resident Evil comes out on DS I plan to buy one even though so far it looks to be just a port of the PS1 game, but hey, its Resident Evil my favorite game series (besides DMC...I like them equally).

But there are a good amount of PSP games coming out that I am interested in (Bunout Legends, GTA, MediEvil, Infected, Daxter, and a few more) so I feel my purchase was justified.

As bad as I want to own Advanced Wars: Dual Strike I really want to hold off on the DS since I want a black/white color to be released in the states for the $130 the blue/platinum cost.
