I'm curious... if you despite a majority of the userbase so much, why bother to post? There are TONS of people who just create an account and read the deals, and then go on thier way. Why not do that?

I pretty much stick to the PC threads helping people, deals, trades, and the occassional debate. But given that CAG pretty much represents what I've seen in every other forum, and given that I'm joking for the most part, I can't imagine someone shelling out millions for this site. It is largely a community sort of affair and less anything service oriented in terms of commercial versus residential payoff (i.e., this site revolves more around us, the customers, rather than corporation).

To look at it seriously, if Cheapy were to sell to a corporation of some kind, I can only see them shutting down CAG or turning it into a soulless web merchant rip off. There's little reason for him to do it other than the immediate payoff, and I'd wager that we, as CAGers, would be very bitter toward that sort of thing. "You sold out" threads and posts would litter every last board.

Additionally, the service CAG gives us - purely speaking out deals - can be had at other sites. Granted those other sites tend to suck, the people are worse, and the overall tone is far more cut throat, but it could still be usably efficient for CAG refugees.

However, the bigger service CAG gives us is the community. And given that, I can't imagine someone making a huge deal about OH SH*T WE NEED EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS TO THE BESTBUY DIDN'T SELL ME A PENNY GUIDE threads.

I think the last thing I want and probably any of us want is for CAG to change the way it is. It is the most visited website for me by far, and easily the most useful. I cannot imagine how I used to buy games before CAG.

Despite that (ho ho ho), you can't sell corporations on our lovable exterior. THey are looking for profits to be had. I don't think Cheapy is making billions on ads. If he is, then wtf, he owes us an explanation. :)

I remember GameSages (formerly SegaSages) was a site I would visit as often as I visit CAG today. They sold to IGN and became a shell of their former selves. Although I was sad to see the forums torn down, I didn't jump on the "you sold out" bandwagon. People have to make a living. If Cheapy sold this site I would at least understand, even if I didn't really like it.
