You knew this was coming so you can't complain about double dips. I just bought the UMD instead of buying the barebones edition. The best part is that the theatrical version is also going to be included in this version as well so I can already expect to see a ton of Sin City Barebone DVDs on Ebay.

I think that's the biggest "duh" statement of the year. :dunce:

This is the best early christmas present ever. I was hoping it would be an extended version, and over 20 extra minutes is great. And the bonus graphic novel is a nice touch. But I doubt I'll get rid of my barebones copy.

yeah.. can't wait for this one.. i just did the first release as a rental and then waiting to get this when it comes out.. can't go wrong with a graphic novel.. I also hear each story will be separated so you can watch it as you would read the graphic novels instead of it being edited together like the theatrical release.

Hopefully the box isn't stinky.

I'd like to see an all-black slipcase with just the Sin City logo, and maybe a little rectangular portion cut-out, so you can see the artwork on the actual case under it (like Pulp Fiction).

DISC TWO

Sin City Recut Extended Unrated Feature Film Presentation (with 23 added minutes)

Full-length expanded cuts of each individual episode (“Customer Is Always Right,” “The Hard Goodbye,” “Big Fat Kill” and “That Yellow b*****d”) split out into short films – each with their own title cards and in their own complete form; viewers can watch separately and in any order desired.

15 Minute Flick School – Showing how everything was done, including the development of the look of the movie before there was financing, plus early screen tests, rehearsal tapes, final effects. Narrated and cut by Robert Rodriguez.

All Green Version – A high speed look at the entire movie with only its green screen elements.

The Long Take – A full uninterrupted 17 minute take during the filming of Quentin's segment. Audience gets to see what it's like to sit in the middle of a whirlwind of creativity while the camera is rolling. They never call cut, so everyone is concentrating, working, experimenting and being creative for 17 minutes straight. Very interesting to watch, and hear everyone brainstorming and improvising. Clive, Nicotero, Rodriguez, Tarantino, and Del Toro, Stevie J, all doing their thing at one point or another.

Sin City: Live in Concert – Sin City filmmakers, cast and crew head over to Antone’s restaurant one night after shooting “That Yellow b*****d” so Bruce Willis' and Robert's band Chingon could play a benefit show. Shows the full version of Bruce and his band playing the song "Devil Woman" and Rodriguez and his band playing the “Theme from Sin City.”

10 Minute Cooking School: Sin City Breakfast Tacos – Rodriguez’s meal of choice during the lnog night hours of making Sin City. Shows how to make Rodriguez’s grandma’s secret homemade flour tortilla recipe as well.

Ok, I gotta say thanks to JasonLives13 for breaking this excellent news. Now since Tarantino is done working on this maybe he can finish the damn Kill Bill SE's he promised a lifetime ago. I've been holding off on watching the original releases because these super-secret multi-deluxe versions were coming out. How is it that Sin City is coming out so quickly and Kill Bill is taking forever!!??
<OK, rant over. Nothing to see here. Move along.>

I want this but damn 40 bucks. I know that it probably will be $30 on week of release. it was a good movie to me. I have never even seen the novel in my life. However i liked the movie a lot. But I am wondering is it worth $40 or $30, it sounds like it but damn $40 bucks for a dvd and its not a box set. This might be going on my Christmas list.

I'm Sure $40 is the suggested retail price which no stores ever follow, I'd bet somewhere between $25 and $30 for the first week of release.

Thank You jasonlives13 for posting this. I was just about to. Awesome news. This is probably the best film all year. Far surpasses 90% of what has come out this year. The absolute best. I'm so picking this up release day or at least release week. Hopefully DDD sale happens this week since that would be great to have it cheaper. Still, for all the extras we're getting $30 release time seems really reasonable for the best film all year. So glad I had the will power (barely) to hold off for this release now.

Hold your horses! Your forgeting about oct. 18th Batman begins 2-disk!

The two-disc deluxe edition will carry that, along with a Genesis of the Bat: Batman Incarnations from the Mid-1980s to the Present doc, a Journey Begins: Creative Concepts, Story Development and Casting featurette, a Shaping Mind and Body: Fighting Style featurette.

a Gotham City Rises: Production Design featurette, a Cape and Cowl: The New Batsuit featurette, and another featurette on the new Batmobile. Completing the package will be a Path to Discovery: Filming in Iceland featurette, another featurette on the Monorail Chase Sequence, a Confidential Files Character/Weapons Gallery.

I think I'd be hard-pressed to choose between Sin City and Batman quality-wise. Both kicked ass. Hell, throw in Willy Wonka as another movie that blew me away this year. In spite of the whining studios have been doing about making 1.7 gagillion dollars instead of the 2 gagillion they made last year, this has been a good year for movies so far. And we still have Corpse Bride, Serenity, new Harry Potter, Narnia, and more underdogs I'm forgetting I'm sure. :)

$40 is as much as some (if not more) than some TV series, but I'll be picking this up no matter what anyway.

I don't think it's going to be $30 in the beginning. It's porbably going to be $32+.

Duo_Maxwell

Well hopefully that's the MSRP that is $40, if so, it could easily be the $30 or even less. The Gladiator Extended Edition has an MSRP of $40 and I bought for $23 at Fry's, DVDs hardly ever sell at their suggested price.

I think the main part to highlight here is that it includes the complete FIRST ISSUE of Frank Miller's Sin City graphic novel. This originally was a six issue mini-series. I think people may be jumping the gun thinking the entire graphic novel will come with this. Mind you I'm hoping I'm wrong here because I'd love to have it and even the spendy $40 msrp isn't going to hold me back. The movie was phenomenal and I HAVE to have this set!! Here's to hoping I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

I'm pretty sure it's the complete graphic novel of "The Hard Goodbye", seen here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1593072937/qid=1126567664/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-0207702-9479276?v=glance&s=books&n=507846.

And they did say that the graphic novel that would be included was worth $17.

Hmm...that would be a pretty tough choice between those two films, but still, I have to give the advantage to Sin City. It just blew me away in every aspect from acting, to editing, to direction, to style, just everything about it is magical. Just talking about it warms my heart.

Same here. Every time I see the various barebones, it's like a small bit of me is crying out to buy it, but every time I see it, it's at Worst Buy which has it for $22.99 instead of the standard $19.99. Bullshit I say. Also, God Damnit, what's taking so long with Kill Bill. Any new word on this? I'm almost ready to simply shell out for the barebones editions and just say fuck it.

Who actually buys from these stores that sell regular dvds for $30?

cag1000

this has prob been answered but....

Will the new SE have multiple covers like the barebones edition or just one universal cover?

If just one, then the character covers for the barebones editions are still collectible just as variant covers are for comics.
