The new Evil Dead 2: Book of the Dead edition is currently up for pre-order for only 19.19 at DDD. That's about half of MSRP, and significantly less than I paid for the first Book of the Dead (~$30).

Book of the Dead 2 (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=ABD013215)

If you don't already have the first Book of the Dead, there is also a two pack of both of the books up for pre-order for $33.58. The image is of two older DVD releases, but the title is "EVIL DEAD 1 & 2 (LE/DOUBLE BOOK)".

Book of the Dead Pack (http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=ABD014135)

I saw those prices just browsing DDD, but in looking into it (DVD Talk) I saw that these are part of an Anchor Bay DVD sale. The sale is through 10/31. Book of the Dead 2 releases on 9/27. The two-pack releases on 11/22, so I guess you'd have to pre-order it to get the low price.

Those look like really excellent prices, but how do you know that the listing for the two pack is for both of the book of the dead versions? I mean, Amazon is selling the first one for $45 right now, so that price would be pretty ridiculous for both of them. If this deal is good, then I am definitely getting both, but the old picture makes me a little hesitant.

Oh my G-d! Thanks OP. I"ve been looking for Evil Dead: Book of the Dead edition for a while and for $30 that's a steal for them, and free shipping to boot. THis is just awesome.

Same here, but this is DDD and find them to be very trustworthy. Mabye check out the UPC/ISBN number to see if they're the same.

Well, the MSRP is $70, and the two pictured go for under $10 each. I guess the answer is I don't know, but going by the description and release date, I'm drawing the conclusion that DDD just kicks ass. Also, chances are good that the first Book of Dead is a new re-printing, but who knows what differences (if any) there will be.

That is a pretty good idea. However, I checked the UPC they list on DDD using UPC Database (http://www.upcdatabase.com/), but it comes up as invalid. I am hoping that is just because this is not released yet, but it still worries me.

Also, I am not really worried about DDD being unreliable, it is just that the description given is a little too vague. I am thinking that (LE/DOUBLE BOOK) refers to something other than just the two book of the dead versions bundled together, like a single book that contains both movies. That would be cool too, but I would like to know before ordering it.

Dang, I was debating whether or not to double dip on EV2, but at that price I think I am going to have to bite, guess I need to get to ebaying my LE tin copy sometime soon.

I'm glad they're releasing a Book of the Dead for Evil Dead 2 because I never bought that on DVD. I also hope they re-release Evil Dead 1 Book of the Dead because thats currently out of print.

I went to a convention that had Bruce Campbell and the ladies from ED1 and they were selling the original Book of the Dead DVD for around $70 because it was out of print.

Wow... That sucks. I am required to immediately get Book of the Dead 2, and yet, the Log-Cabin beckons.

Anyone think this price will stick around long enough for the DDD 20% off sale? When will that sale come back anyway?

The sale is through 10/31.

So probably no. Just buy it. It's probably won't be cheaper than this anywhere else.
