This is not so much a deal, as it is to tell everyone that To Kill a Mockingbird got re-released. I was looking for this DVD forever, and stumbled upon the new release last week. I got it in today, and the packaging is incredible. It's a two disc set with a note from Harper Lee in it and postcard size theatrical posters from around the world. When i first saw it I could only say wow!

If there's no aliens, pirates or ninjas in it then that movie can go fuck itself.

I've always loved To Kill a Mockingbird, even when we had to read it in school and pick it apart. I love both the book and the movie.

I'm ashamed to say I have never read the book or seen the movie. Anyone care to give a quick spoiler free blurb about it?
Preferably one without pirates, burning sharks, and lacking any form of humor?

honestly, i think it will be in your best interest to see the movie. the movie says a lot about race relations in the South, the justice system, American heroism, gender, and other things. i don't think it disappoints, and you get some of Gregory Peck's finest work.

I really didn't like the movies or the book. Too boring. Other people said it was good, but couldn't focus. Hated it.

I loved the book and loved the movie (though the book is better). All of you that say the book was awful have no clue as to what is a well written, no, intelligently written book is. The movie is excellent as well. I own the original release of the film, and though I would like to get this new version, probably won't.

a little something about Mr. Peck (yes it has a pirate too) for those of you who haven't read it:

Summary of the book/movie: A black man is accused of assaulting a white woman, and then Finch lays the smackdown, legal style. One of the best books about race, and one of the best examples of lawyering. For more on these topics, see Crash and read the Caine Mutiny, respectively. Sorry if this post makes no sense, I'm mad tired.

Excellent book and film (I guess I'll one day upgrade my older collectors edition copy)... It always gets to me near the end of the film in the courthouse when... well... I cant spoil the film, but those who know the film probably know the scene I am thinking of
