I just bought a GBA SP yesterday with Metroid Fusion and Final Fantasy TA from Bestbuy for $89.99. I'm not for sure if I should keep the SP, or get the Micro since it is comming out tomorrow.
So far I've had a two GBA, GBA SP, and a DS at one time or another. Out of all of those, I liked my SP the best. The DS was just way too big for me to take to work or school. The SP was ok in size, but I bet the Micro would be easier to fit in my pocket.
What would you do if you were me?

If I didn't own any Game Boy I'd go for the micro but if you plan on playing old GB games then the SP is your only option...

I'd stick with the SP due to screen size, form factor, and screen protection.

Ditto. Built in Headphone jack, Better (yet smaller) screen, and smaller. Also, after seeing how a small screen can still be readable looking at the iPod Nano, this shouldnt be too bad for rpg's or tactical games

If you want something to put in your pocket, I don't think a $100 piece of equipment with no protection for the screen is your best bet.

Instead of getting a scratched screen and having to go through the possible hell of replacing it yourslef with a hook with glue on it, you get a new cover. Nice and easy.

The sp can play all the old GB/GBC games, has a bigger screen, clamshell design for protection.
The Micro has a backlight, and is small which is good and bad. Good because it fits anywhere, bad because the screen is insanely small.
I'd go with an GBA sp, but to me it sounds like you want a Mirco, so go for it.

I actually thought it over some more and I'm leaning towards the DS with Mario bundle. I can get it for about $117 after my discount at Wal-Mart. Can the DS play GB/GBC games? I can't remember.

Well, I just took the SP back and got a refund. I remembered the reason I took my first DS back to the store was because there wasn't really any good games for it at the time. Now I'm starting to see quite a few games I'd like to play for the DS, and since it can also play GBA games, I will also be able to get my GBA fix that I've been craving.
While I was thinking about it, I didn't want to keep the SP, and then later be tempted to buy a DS. I might as well spend the extra $30-$35 bucks and get the total package.
Anyone know if the DS can play GB/GBC games?
Also, any suggestions on which game I should pick up with the DS? I just bought Zoo Keeper tonight, I was thinking about Nintendogs or Advance Wars. I have Advance Wars 2 already, so I might not need Dual Strike.

Nope, however there is a mod lurking out there somewhere that lets you do it. The only downside is that you have to open it up and do some soldering.

DS... better screen than SP, bigger screen than Micro. Plus, it's the most comfortable to play (I'm assuming the Micro won't be very fun to play for long periods due to its small size) thanks to horizontal design, excellent balance, and big D/shoulder buttons.

Yeah for you I'd say your best bet would be a micro because of how you would use and store it (in your pocket or playing at work).
If you wanted a system to just game on I'd say DS.

i think you should go DS, full size screen, nice back light, and it can play DS games, which there are already good ones and even better ones coming in the next couple of months

When you play a GBA game on the DS, the image is smaller than what it would be if it were on the SP, right?
That's something else to consider OP.
I sometimes find myself playing GBA games on my sp rather than my DS due to the SPs bigger image. The DS seems to compress the GBA games for some reason. I guess it's done because of DS games and GBA games being at different resolutions.

Yes, that is kind of annoying in my opinion. Also I am used to playing GBA games on my SP which is smaller. So when I play them on my DS, it feels kind of clunky.

well, i just did a side by side comparison, and the DS is slightly smaller, it makes almost no differnce... and the backlight makes up for any minor minor difference in size

Yeah. the DS feels a bit clunky at times.
It would have been cool if they would have made use of the empty screen when you are playing a GBA game. Maybe a clock or just double the GBA madness.
Got to love the stereo sound on the DS though. That tiny single speaker on the sp can not crank out a decent level of tuneskies.
