address bar history? Like the stuff that shows up in the drop down menu in the regular IE address bar? Just clear document history in Start Menu>Settings>Task Bar and Start Menu
Might have to click 'customize' on XP to get to the clear button.

Are you using IE? If so then go into your options and turn off AutoComplete URLs. Also you can clear the URLs there too I think.

They may be in a hidden file

To clear autocomplete, which is a little different, open IE, click Tools, Internet Options, Content, Auto Complete, Clear Forms and turn off the URL completion check box.

address bar histories can be bothersome!!! I especially hate it when I'm trying to type in a general address, and it fills out a specific page at the address. GRRRRR... makes me angry.

Try TweakUI. You can set it to delete history files among other things.

No, it's him (or her) telling you to buy videos that are easier to get rid of if it is necessary (but it never is)

but I do not recommend doing either of these if you've never tried before, as you'll need to re-install Windows afterwards.
