All the talk about the other RPG's the DS is getting reminded me of one of the reasons I bought a DS in the first place - an officially translated FF 3.

Since then, I've heard nothing from SE on the subject... what happened to it?

Shit, they just announced Final Fantasy IV for GBA for a December 12th release, where is my FF 3??

You'll be waiting a long, long time as they never announced any form of a release date. Probably next year, maybe in the fall.

Its easier to release FFIV for gba, instead of FF3 for DS because FF IV has already been translated and released here.....where as FF3 still needs to be developed for new hardware(DS) and has to be translated for its first US release. Not to mention they have to update the game not just port it, since they need to implement the touch screen in some form or fashion.

EDIT: Also i dont see WHY people are making a big deal over the fact that FFIV is getting a release by the end of this year....thats a GOOD thing. The more Square games on GBA/DS the better for the handheld(especially final fantasy titles)

I think Square Enix is putting a lot of time and effort into remaking Final Fantasy III. When they remade Final Fantasy I and II, it was for the Wonderswan, meaning their bar for graphics and audio as well as general motivation to improve on the originals was significantly lower than it will be with the DS.

Personally I think the unoffical translation of FFIV and V are better than the offical one.

There is also the rumor that square lost the source code for FF3, which is why everything is taking so long.

Ever since the GBA came out Chrono Trigger seemed like a no-brainer to me. Add that to the list of "Where is it?". Sometimes I wonder if companies like Square are scared of making free money...

Square is putting a lot of effort into anything except finishing FF12. I swear, they should just hand the development over to 3drealms and have them change the title to, Final Fantasy Forever.

I've never heard that rumor proven true, but the evidence (the lack of any remakes of FFIII relative to numerous, numerous remakes of the other titles) does suggest that it may be true.

I was wondering about Chrono Trigger too. I already have two SNES copies and the PS One version though. It still would be nice for a portable versoin to be released.

Strange, given that it's available on the Final Fantasy Chronicles for PSOne.

What i want to know is....where is the thankfulness?

I dont see how people could be complaing about Square when they have a great MMO out, have been releasing new rpgs(radiatia stories) and still have FFIV , DQVIII, Romancing Saga and Final Fantasy AC coming out this year. Let them work on the other games and play all of those until then.
