For anyone still looking for 'em, Best Buy on the Eastside had about 10 Wii's in stock and plenty of nunchucks in stock. As well as about 10 or so Classic Controllers.
I called one place this afternoon that I was thinking of stopping by and they informed me that they would definitely not be selling it until tomorrow.
Yep, nowhere had it, and EB said tommorrow.

If anyone is looking to buy Crackdown (for the 360), Circuit City (West - Madison) has 15 or so Halo 3 faceplates. You get one free if you buy Crackdown this week.
I'm not big on the whole faceplate thing, but if you're going to buy Crackdown, you might as well get something free. As far as faceplates go, it looks pretty cool.

I'll save you guys the trouble-- there is nothing at the East or West BB for the $1.99 sale. I went to both yesterday and only found one copy of Valkyrie Profile.
Unless they pulled them for tomorrow, I don't think there'll be anything there.

Thanks, Apossum. If anyone goes to one of the "area" Best Buys, like Janesville, or if they do restock for the sale, I'd pay double for Mario Party 7, Chibi Robo, Advance War & Pac Pix, and would pay an extra $2 for Karaoke Revolution GC as well.

You saved me a bunch of time, too, apossum, thanks for the head's up. Kind of disappointing, since there was so much good stuff on the list, but not that surprising.

went to price adjust VP at the westside store today and saw 2 clearance games as of 3pm-- Fire Emblem Sacred Stones gba and Capcom Mini Mix gba.
There were other clearance games like boatloads of dynasty warriors advance and Ace combat advance, as usual. and generic xbox and ps2 titles (pinball, random no-name racing games etc.) so, there wasn't anything worthwhile, in other words. I asked around and they said some people were lined up, but they left empty handed aside from a game here or there.
ma, much respect for the pavement custom title! quite possibly my favorite band ever :)

I went to Best Buy yesterday for the crazy DVD sale, and I didn't see anything of interest in the DS or GC racks. (Oh, wait -- Monster House for $5! Anyone want that?) I also headed out east for a Barnes & Noble sale and checked into BB there, and, again, nothing.

I guess I don't think about DVD's all that much any more.
Hey guys. My bro went to the Best Buy around Mayfair and Southridge and says he saw a couple people with lists too.
He ended up getting Tomb Raider (PSP), ATV Offroad Fury (PSP), Spy Hunter and Super Sprint or something (GBA), and Dragonball Z (DS). Seems like there wasn't much there at either and he got there around 10:30AM or so.
Anyways, seems like it was cleared out mostly.

The clearance section where I've found things over at the West side store is at the end of the aisle where they have the keyboards and mice.
That's where they put the games and such. They had the Zelda shield things there for the past few weeks, along with the Tony Hawk skateboards and such.

Circuit City (Westside - Madison) has plenty o' copies of GRAW 2 in stock. $49.99 a pop, which is $10 cheaper than everywhere else. Remember when all new games were only $50? Get it while you can.

Just a little FYI for those in Madison. Pre-Played (Eastside) had GRAW2 mislabeled as GRAW in the used 360 section for $29.99. Fantastic price. You may want to check it out...it certainly will disappear sometime today at that price.

Please help - I'm looking for a game for my daughters bday this weekend. She wants a dancing game or a karaoke game for ps2. I will be shopping in Madison, can anyone advise me the best place to look for the best price? If I get the karaoke, I need a microphone too.
Also, we could use a memory card. My kids lost the last one, so I don't want to pay alot for that either.

The best price I can think of for this type of game on PS2 is Karaoke Revoltion Country music edition for $20 at KMart. Problem with that is closest KMarts to Madison are either Portage, or Janesville.

Savers is where Cost Plus World Market used to be -- beside Gander Mountain and Best Buy.
I know I was excited when a friend got Mario Kart, cart only, for $10 awhile back, and my inner CAG knew I should pick up these games, but I decided to only get Super Mario All-Stars, for my kids. I kind of wish I had gotten Donkey Kong Country, too -- maybe I'll go back today.

Preplayed rocks, I was in Madison last weekend and it felt sooooo good to get back there and pick up a few things. When I lived in Platteville we made byweekly trips up to Preplayed (with dinner at Hooters) but since I moved to Iowa I miss them. I haven't been to VGE for several years and I couldn't remember where it was so after an hour and a half of aimless driving my wife said enough, this "VGE" is in your head. Preplayed resurfaces all used games...Gamestop/EB and Video Game Exchange only will if you ask them to. I've never had a bad game come from Preplayed...ever. Also, most games (especially 360 and PS3 games) are in excellent condition. They look like they were just opened. When I buy used games, the packaging must be perfect...and it often is at Preplayed.

Preplayed resurfaces all used games...Gamestop/EB and Video Game Exchange only will if you ask them to. I've never had a bad game come from Preplayed...ever. Also, most games (especially 360 and PS3 games) are in excellent condition. They look like they were just opened. When I buy used games, the packaging must be perfect...and it often is at Preplayed.
the reason being is preplayed gets alot of stuff from hustlers that's why they will occasionally have a stack of new titles for dirt cheap. i have been in there when people have brought in bags of unopened dvd's and games. as far as used quality, video game x-change uses professional buffing equipment and their games are always perfect when i buy them. preplayed uses a jewelers buffing wheel and the discs always have a marred look to them...they do tend to be a little cheaper but that's because they buy stuff for as little as possible. :applause:

I bet it's just as bad here in Milwaukee then, back when they had that huge Bestbuy sale there were people standing in line with printed lists comming up with plans and already talking trades and $$ amount if they found X&Y games... My brother works at a bestbuy and h e said people were taking the games out by the cart loads and he gets mad every time they put out new rounds of those front lane games because he has to be off the clock to buy anything and he will see a person come in and buy out the whole lot and say 10 copies of Metal Gear Solid 3 @ $9.99... People like this just irritate and sicken me to know end..........
Plain ans simple in order to cut back on this people need to stop being so quick at posting every sale they come across...
There's lurkers in the waters big time around CAG and they kill it for the people that legitimately want to get these CAG to play not to score profits.....

sorry guys, I'm one of the bad ones. i don't buy 10 copies of MGS 3 (that's retarded), but I do supplement my main purchases with games I can flip. $60 is too much for me, even with my "real job." If I'm buying a $60 game, then notice a game I could resell to take $20 off that purchase, I eat for another week. yeah, i'm claiming poor college student on this one. but I don't advocate quitting your day job to flip games
anyway, what are you guys looking for that other people snatch up? I've never gone out to get something and not had it there...though the Wii launch was rough. I find good games at Pre-played every time I go there. The west side GS had DDS1 sitting there the other week, along with a bunch of other rare and semi-valuable games that no one buys. there were even 2 copies of RE:Code Veronica for the GC at Shopko on the east side-- they were some of the last games, $9 each, in the picked over clearance bin. There are 2 copies of DoAX 2 and 2 of DDR:Ultimate at the East side circuit city as of an hour ago and some copies of Lumines at TRU, if you want to get it before it's gone. and no I didn't buy every last thing I found :-P i usually hit up all these places when I get a chance to go to town, mostly only to look around.
anyway, I have seen dirty ebayers and they don't seem like the informed types who know what to buy. they seemed like dumbasses who would buy 10 copies of MGS3 Snake Eater, but don't know thing 1 about gaming. I don't think I've seen any CAGs, unless you guys frequent EB on state...otherwise I shop for game like once a month.

What made me specifically rant (this time) was a guy and his wife at Circuit City Tuesday with 2-3 copies each of DDR, DOAX2, and Virtua Tennis 3. There is absolutely no reason why these douchebags needed that many copies other than flipping them on ebay.
What's sad is that I recognize these idiots from Preplayed. I've seen them in there several times with stacks of games and game guides. Same boat im in guy, when Disgaea 2 hit the $16.96 clearance at CC I went into the Brookfield location and they had a handful of them but I took them and placed them in the bottom of the mess that was a clearance bin and came on here and left a little hint to where they were.. to be hold my friend that works at that store told me some guy purchased all 5 copies that were still left... All the RPG's that went on clearance there are obsolete.. the only one I could find was Tales of Legendia which is great but I really wanted to find a Grandia III.. still looking for that one.. Pre-played has the best resurfacing machines i've seen. Lots of machines leave obvious resurfacing marks behind, but you have to look hard for them on games at PP. Most of the time they do it for free, but they might charge you $1, depending on which clerk you ask.

Sorry if this's been mentioned recently, but if you visit Shopko and see a game on clearance, you might want to double-check the price.
I've visited most of the Green Bay area stores and found a few games that were "on clearance" for $10 that rang up at $4, or "on clearance" for $15 that rang up at $2 (all of them 90% off). They're forgetting to update the stickers, and you can probably benefit from that.

In Green Bay (I know, not Madison), the best I've found is Family Video. The discs look great after re-surfacing. They charge $2 regardless of whether it fixes anything (d'oh). It's been free sometimes, if I come when they're not busy.

So, off topic, but still... Are there any places in Madison that rents Wii games at decent prices?
I'm so sick of Gamefly and how long it takes (if the games actually get here) to get games and return them. I've been a member for two months and they've already lost 4 games.
That said, I am NOT paying Blockbuster the $27 or whatever they want to rent a game for 4 days or whatever it is now, so are there any local places (preferably on the west side) that rent games for a reasonable amount?

I've been curious to try out the Blockbuster Game Pass for $21 plan. 1 game at any time for as long as you want it. (Or so it seems from their site.) If I could just drive to a store and pick up a game when I want rather than relying on Gamefly's mediocre shipping speeds, it would probably be worth it.
Honestly, if I rent 4 games from Gamefly in a month... I probably only have games for half of the month as it is. I have at least a 4 to 5 day turn around every time.

So how up to date is Blockbuster's new game selection? It seems to me that they only have 1 copy of most games and new releases are out of stock for months. The "Game Pass" sounds like a reasonable deal, but not if you're only getting to choose between King Kong and Perfect Dark...while the employees have the only copy of GTA4 checked out for 2 months.
Somewhat off-topic:
Whatever you do...DON'T rent DVD's or games from the Blockbuster on the corner of University and Gammon. They have a few scumbag clerks there who are absolute criminals. They rent movies on customers accounts and try to charge them with late/replacement fees. It's a nice little scam they've had going for years. There was even an assistant manager who was in on it a year or so ago.

I think that you've noticed my primary concern with renting locally.
Of course, Rapid shipping never seems to work for me with Gamefly and right now I'm paying to have 2 games... and both are stuck somewhere in the mail.
Good to know about that Blockbuster location. I'm going to be sticking with the East side for now.

There's a boxed Wii at Preplayed on the Westside (Madison of course) if anyone's interested. I still think these are pretty hard to find. I've never seen a Wii at retail. Even when I got mine at BB in February, I had to ask for them to get it out of the back stockroom.

Circuit City clearance update:
FYI: The latest batch of CC $16.96 clearance games are still (for the most part) available at CC West (Madison). I bought the last Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (sorry guys), but there still are plenty of 360 titles. What I saw:
(new August clearance only)
Chromehounds
Superman Returns (didn't buy this one)
Meet the Robinsons (didn't buy this either)
Far Cry Predator
MLB 2K6
I also looked high and low for the PS2 Devil May Cry collection, but it was nowhere to be found.

topic change:
so, this past weekend, i spent a fair amount of time cataloging my games and finding all the cover art for each one I own to make my game library html page looking complete. After everything was tabulated and raked in, I'm pretty close to owning 400 games..
most of my friends i show this to take a step back and reply, "christ that's a lot"..
It is a fair amount, but it's nothing compared to other collections I've seen here and there. so, i began to wonder just how different my video game buying habits were compared to others gamers like myself.
how many games would you say you buy on average in a week? how many games do you own?
___
Also, on a related note.. I'm going to start getting rid of some of my crappy games.. many of which are import saturn titles. lemme know if you're interested in anything. my game list is in my sig.

My "collection":
http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?lid=100018
Really, it's not much of a collection...it's just an accumulation of buying video games for 25+ years. I rarely sell my games. After awhile, they just add up. I have ~50 or so Atari 2600 games that I never bothered adding to the collection list above, so in all I easily have over 800 games. Keep in mind that I have played a majority of these games over the years...I don't buy games just to own them. I'm a player...not a collector.
I also should add that half of my games (NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, N64, etc.) are stored in rubbermaid containers in my basement. I haven't touched some of them for 15 years or so. I'm the opposite of a pack-rat (it's true), but when it comes to video games, I hang on to them. My logic is that I'll want to play them at some point or another. In the NES/Genesis days I sold quite a few of my games, only to buy them back later. So now I keep them, even if they sit untouched for a decade.
I guess the weird thing (to other people...not me) are the multiple copies of consoles I have stored in the basement. I have quite a few older consoles, still new in the box waiting to take over once my current consoles die. I've spent 1000's on software, and I'll be damned if I can't play something because a particular console broke. Most of these consoles were bought after they were clearanced or price cut towards the end of their generation. I have an extra Genesis, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Gamecube, GBASP, and an unbelievable amount of accessories (also brand new). It may seem strange to "stockpile" consoles like this, but most (if not all) of these things were bought for cheap.

I hear ya man my GF always asks me why I keep buying games and why I need so many lol. I am not on the level you are seeing my collection of games is only 65 between PS1/Ps2. my response is that I am not in any hurry to play any of the new systems, and all the games I have I will play eventually seeing once the Ps2 lifespan ends I will not be forced to move on to current stuff just to dump big bucks on crappy "pretty" games.. my other thing like yourself in away is that it is very hard to pass up on something that is dirt cheap. I have purchased some games that not on a mandatory basis to play they were cheap so they sit for now still sealed. This is the first time I have had a collection of this many games because alas years before I would take a pile in for credit at gamerape but I have seen the errors of my ways and rather keep them than get $1.00 in credit...
-long live the Ps2 lol-

New here...FWIW, I drive through Janesville a lot on the Interstate, and always seem to stop at the Best Buy there (must be the 5% instead of 5.5% sales tax ;) )...almost every time I'm there (every couple weeks) they seem to have 2 or 3 Wii consoles. I personally still haven't bought one, as there aren't that many games I'd want on it yet, but if you're in Madison it might be worth the short drive if you can't find any in town there.

Does Family Video offer the same prices in store as online (i.e. $50 for Halo 3 pre-order)? Do they offer an in-store pickup option? Thanks.
Toys R Us (Green Bay, WI) has Eyetoy Kinetic (with Eyetoy) for $10 clearance, so $8.50 + tax after the automagic 15% discount.
About 5 boxes left after I bought one. Not too shabby if you're looking for an EyeToy.

I think I mentioned this in this thread in the past, but I ended up going with a Blockbuster Gamepass or whatever it's called. Gamefly was just awful beyond words since they changed their mailers.
I ended up going with the Blockbuster on Regent and I've been pretty surprised at how many games are in stock there. I've been typically seeing games there on release date, although no luck on Lair.
What's funny about Lair though is that they have it available for sale.... but not for rent. Gotta love that.

someone posted a $260 360 premium, refurbed by MS with the new heatsink, on craigslist. I was *this* close to getting it, but I need to wait until NG2 comes out. can't spend $320 on essentially one game (with scattered arcade titles.)

Does anyone know what stores in Milwaukee on the east side are having a midnight release for Halo 3?

Have fun at the midnight openings tonight. I have to wake up too early. Staying up past midnight on a weekday is out of the question unfortunately.
My exciting Halo 3 launch event will be waltzing into Circuit City (or wherever) tomorrow during lunch and picking it up.

Heya, I'm not too sure if I ran into any of you guys out there, but I was somewhat close to the front of the line. I ended up getting there a little bit after Heroes ended.
I took a couple pictures of everything, which you can find here:

Two others and me were at the end of the sidewalk when we got there at 10. I got a little drunk testing out my friends new keg-o-rator and they talked me into going that early. One dude with us just walked through and got a shirt, didnt buy anything. I was surprised how many people were still outside when I was leaving.

Sounds fun..... so did you buy the more expensive pre-scratched copy that has microsofts commitment to quality products label? I still can't believe they have people paying for a game at those prices with games they knew were not in the cases right.... Hey get it out the door and make the dollar worry about the problems later... kind sounds like the idea they had behind the 360...
oh yeah almost forgot you ever see the movie "Accepted" lol you look like the rocker guy that was delivering kegs in the movie lol..

Circuit City (Westside - Madison) still has the free "wall scroll" if you buy Halo 3 there. I picked up the regular edition (no scratches thank you).

My friend had the scratched edition pre-ordered, I just got the normal for 42$ after my RZ. I wish the normal edition had a fun name like cat helmet edition or the scratched edition.

was his actually damaged? my limited edition disc works just fine, and only had a few cosmetic scratches.
I really should've just gotten the regular edition though.. the limited one feels so cheap, and you really don't get much more.

PrePlayed (Eastside - Madison) has a used Microsoft brand 360 wireless router adapter for $60. That is a fucking steal. It's under the glass with the 360 accessories.

Friend just passed an email off to me (he works at Shopko). If you sign up here: http://www.shopko.com/myfriends/ they'll apparantly send you a 20% coupon.
In the past they've done 20% off for employees only, and everything was fair game, so thats $100 off a PS3 if you're lookin for one.

Anyone know of any good deals in the Green Bay area???

Hollywood Video on Webster is 50% off new/used games. Pretty much picked over, but you never know.
Shopko has a pile of clearance games for PS2/XBox/GCN. Selection varies by store.
Got Mario Strikers Charged from Family Video on Webster this weekend, for $20 complete. Mario Party 5 for $8 complete. I didn't see any other copies, but you might watch for other Wii games dropping.

Guitar Hero III (Game only :()was at Eastside Sears. 1 copy of the Xbox 360 version and I think 2 of the PS2 version were left.
Best Buy in Green Bay (Mason St) still had at least 3 Logitech USB mics (PS2) for $4.99 as of ~7PM today.
