Oh ok. Maybe I'll swing by tomorrow morning and get one. I wonder if anything else is ringing up for less. I've got my eye on the Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe in the glass case once it drops some more.

I hear you there. Fortunately the Targets are located between my daycare and the office, so I can stop without the kids. :)
I picked up Lips at SP this morning, 2 copies left now. I didn't have anyone pull the MK vs DC out of the case and scan the price on it. The only employee around at the time was on a walkie talkie going on about dusting for prints, sounded like they were robbed this morning.

is lips any good? it seems like alot of people want it.. but is it actually any cool?!
Anyone know if either the Target in Racine or Oak Creek has some copies of Smackdown 09, Tiger Woods 09, or Mirrors Edge on clearance? I'll probably run to check them out tomorrow, but I'd appreciate it if someone could possibly save me a trip.

I'm still waiting to try out Lips. Honestly, I bought it for the two wireless mics so that I can use them when the Rock Band 2 patch eventually comes out.

06-17-2009, 11:42 AM
I bought Lips when it came out. It was pretty fun. It is different than just singing for Rockband. You need to shake the mic and get in beat to get the little awards for the song. You can sing into both and shake them to get all the awards for both players. I believe that is an achievement.
On another note.(no pun intended) Has anyone seen the PSN cards for 17 and 40 dollars at Walmart? I checked Madison Janesville and Beloit at different times.

I checked at least 3 of the local Walmarts (West, Sun Prairie, and Watertown) and didn't see the discounted PSN cards. Just normal prices.

Hey do you know anyone interested in any PS2 games and a PS2 memory Card.... its the last of my PS2 collection and im looking to dump it..
Radiata Stories and Rogue Galaxy are both sealed as well as the Official Sony Memory card....
Oh and BTW yes it is good to have more people from WI here but also bad because its more competition and there are a buttload of lurkers and such already in the Milwaukee area ha ha
Stopped a the Oak Creek Target today. I was able to snag a copy of Smackdown 09 for $12.48. It was the last one they had. I didn't see any other clearance games either. I looked all over the electronics department and found nothing. Maybe I'll run to the Racine Target tomorrow.

End War for the PS3 for $44.98 as well. I might take a flier on that at 75% off, just for the headset. Heard the game wasn't all that great.

The Movie Gallery in Beaver Dam, WI is going out of business, was just announced today. All PS3 and 360 games were shipped back to corp. as well as most of the Wii games. Currently everything is 20% off marked price (Ps2/xbox/GC games were marked at 5-15 dollars), but according to the front counter lady the prices are going to drop fast. The DVD's are 9.99 for older titles, and 15 for newer titles (without the 20% off). as well as DVD cases for $ .10 each, which was pretty nice, i picked up 140, which left about a 100 left (sorry guys :-p). I would def. check it out if your in the neighbor hood this next week or two. PM me if you would like the address or additional information.
P.S. They will be open until July 18th, as of then the doors will be closed, all sales are final and about 98% of the inventory is used.
Happy Hunting :),

What a coincidence, I made the same exact purchase at the Racine Best Buy and left the same number of each on the shelf. I was looking through the racks to see if there were any titles I wanted and I noticed all 3 of those had recently gotten new price stickers and were now all $19.99. I had my eye on all 3 and the price drop sealed the deal. I wanted AOE Mythologies too and was hoping when my sister went she would pick it up if they needed a 3rd title. She told me I was out of luck, my oldest nephew decided to get it for himself.

I went to the Movie Gallery in Stoughton in re the $5 sale -- of the three clerks, only the manager knew about it and hadn't thought it started yet. While I browsed, they confirmed that the code was a go, but the only think I wanted to pick up was a DS game. They couldn't quite get the code to work, and then noticed that the DS wasn't on the list of approved platforms. Because we'd already started this transaction, they overrode it for me, which was v. nice. They have a reasonable PS2/3 and XBOX/360 selection.
Went to Oregon and they didn't know about it. I suggested they call Stoughton for the code, and the clerk reported back that the Stoughton store said that the only area stores participating in the sales were Stoughton and Richland (Center?). If anyone hears otherwise, let me know.

If anyone is interested in the GS B2G1 deal, the store in Regency Mall here in Racine had an excellent PS3 selection when I went in this morning. FNR4, Prototype, Bigs 2, Tiger Woods 10, just a great selection of newer used games.
Both GS's here though had somewhat slim pickins for the 360 though. I grabbed the only copies of Prototype and Tiger Woods 10. Neither had NCAA 10 or Bigs 2 though. I did however see one copy of FNR4 at the Regency Point GS for the 360.

I picked up Riddick (360) for $14.98 at Target (Madison - Westside) this weekend. They still had 4-5 left as of Sunday. They also had 1 HAWX (360) for the same price, but I left it there. These were definitely $29.xx a few days before.

Best Buy in Lake Geneva had a good clearance going, better than all the other ones I've seen. The way it worked was if you got one game on clearance you got 30% off, two games got 40% off each game, and 3 games equaled 50% off each game. The best buy at... best buy.... was the xbox 360 controller with viva pinata combo pack. Picked up that with brothers in arms and avatar for a total of $43. They had several collectors editions of street fighter 4 and end war as well. Games were in 3 spots, at front of game section, on back game wall and up by register. This was a couple of days ago so good luck cag's!
BudzMcGee
08-07-2009, 01:20 AM
also, it didn't seem to matter game prices, aka, if you got the end war bundle priced at 90 and two games priced at 10, you got 50% off each individual game.

08-07-2009, 11:20 AM
Target in Fitchburg dumped a whole lot of clearance games on the shelf this week. Lots of 30% off stuff. Patapon 2 for the PSP, Riddick for the PS3, a few others... none than I can remember at the moment though.

Credit to the OP in the video game forum for pointing out a bunch of games at 50% off at the Brookfiield Best Buy. Picked up a Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway CE for $19.99 and Scene-it 2 unbundled for $9.99, both for the 360. There's still a bunch of other titles for the 360, PS3, Wii, and some for the PS2 and PSP.

If I remember correctly the Best Buy on the West side has it for around $24, not quite the $15 mark but still a reasonable deal. Also this was as of about 30 minutes ago I saw quite a few of them on the shelf.

I got stuck at work so I didn't get a chance to go over to the West side, but I did stop at the East side Best Buy on the way home. Nothing much exciting there. They did not have either Saint's Row 2 CE or the Brothers in Arms CE for X360. They had a lot of 50% off titles but nothing I was interested in. They did have Hot Shots Golf for PS3 marked down to $30.

Target (Westside - Madison) hasn't marked down the bulk of their clearance titles in over a month. It's really strange. I even scanned a few games in disbelief, but of course...the clearance tags were accurate.
You also have to love the fact they still have 1 copy of Def Jam (something something...the fighting one) on clearance. This thing hit the clearance endcaps just after Christmas. Now THAT'S staying power. How did this slip through the cracks (besides the fact that no one wants it)?
psunami
08-13-2009, 02:27 PM
I remember picking up a copy of Def Jam at Shopko almost 2 years ago.
The Sun Prairie Target has a few of Battlestation Pacific for the 360,(5 or 6 copies) but at $41.98 still.
They had a few Pacific Rift for $29.98 as well.
I noticed that the Fitchburg place hasn't done anything in a while.
I'd bet that the copies of Saints Row are still at the West Madison store. They're just sitting on a shelf with the other collectors editions and seem almost hidden from view... for whatever reason.

Dead Space (PS3) - 20

Last day of the Movie Gallery sale ... I can confirm that the Movie Galleries in Stoughton, Oregon, Sauk City, Baraboo, Tomah and Verona and the HWV Monona don't have anything at $5 that's tradeuppable as part of the Gamestop deal. (I was travelling north; it wasn't an intentional cheap game safari.) Apart from my local GS, where I picked up Assassin's Creed and Resistance 1 & 2 for $5 before Christmas to play, all I ever found to flip for this deal were three Need For Speeds and a Godfather II. I would've loved to have found just one more to flip and get a $20 Wii points card, but alas ....
As far as other games <$30, there's lots of good Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox stuff to be had, but precious little in terms of current gen except for last year's (and 2008's and 2007's) sports titles, with the occasionally racing game. There are a lot of good games out there hovering at the $35 price point, alas.

The Hollywood video in Green Bay on Military/Mason is closing. They close for good at the end of March. Games right now are 30% off. There are almost no new games left except for bad games that probably won't sell at 95% off. There are some decent used titles left--but the prices are so jacked up that with 30% off most of them aren't worth it. Games are not in original cases and most are missing manuals, fyi. All sales final. I am waiting until the prices are slashed more before I bite but as it says on the front door of the store "If you don't buy it today, it won't be here tomorrow." Happy hunting.

I didn't catch up on this thread entirely yet, but I'm posting anyway.
The Best Buy in Milwaukee (Northridge) is closing, and they increased their % off from 40 to 50% on all video games (systems excluded). DJ Hero Renegade & Beatles Rock Band are down to $80 and in stock for 360,PS3,Wii. I saw about 30 of each tonight when I was in. There's other Guitar Hero, Rockband accessories too like the fog machine, some drum pad accessories.
HDTV's are 20% off, Computer software is 50% off. Computer software is nearly gone, but if any of you want a Quickbooks Pro 2010 for whatever need, it's $99 after discount. PM me if you want a breakdown of TV prices. I was making inventory lists for friends and noted TV sizes from 19" to 24". Other locations are moving their excess overstocks to this location.
The big discount was 50% off new Blu-Ray players and 60% off floor model blu-ray players. I bought a Sony BDP-N460 (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BDP-N460-Blu-ray-Player-Black/dp/B002PHM0XQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268804392&sr=8-1) for $99 new. All movides, blu-rays, music, desktop computers, most computing accessories have been moved to other stores. In the video gaming area I did see Bioshock 2 Collector's Edition for 360 & PS3 for 50% off. There's also Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Editions at 50% off for 360 and PS3. Nintendo DSi systems at $169.99 before 20% discount.
Best Buy Reward Zone coupons and certificates are still in full effect. All sales are considered final, but they are still selling replacement warranties on electronics.
Blockbuster is closing 3 branches - Glendale (shopping center opn the southwest corner of Green Tree Rd. & PT Washington Rd.), Mequon (PT Washington Rd. & Mequon Rd. Pavilion Shopping Center), and Brown Deer (on Brown Deer Rd. just east of the closing Best Buy store next to American). All three of these are in week 1 of their 5 week liquidation cycle. Here's a breakdown:
Mequon: Regular dvd movies are $9.99 after 40% discount. Some select crappy looking $3.99 movies in the back. HD-DVD's up front in bins disc only for $1.99 each. Blu-Ray movies in BB cases but having original blu-ray inserts - $14.99\$9.99 before 20% discount. Cardboard\Plastic backer cards (dvd cases were placed on these on shelves) are 5 for $1. Store looks 2/3rds full this last Monday. Video games almost non-existent.
Brown Deer: Store was barely touched this last Monday. Same pricing as Mequon, but no HD-DVD's. More regular DVD inventory bulk. This location sold framed movie posters and novelties so those are discounted. I bought a framed Back to the Future photo with actual movie reel piece cut and mounted inside for $0.99. Saw 40 Yr Old Virgin and ET editions. Lots of food and sodas marked down too. Same Blu-ray pricing, except more comedies at this location for $6.99. Video games are very slim.
Glendale: No idea yet, going there tomorrow. The facilities at this location are smaller then the others since it was a much newer store, so I'm not expecting much.
All 3 BB stores and the Best Buy are selling the furnishings, shelving, electrical items, etc.

I stopped by the Glendale Blockbuster closing sale. They have an extended blu-ray selection but many of the cases I took to the counter couldn't have discs found. Overall this location seems pretty unorganized. DVD inventory about 3/4ths remaining. Also saw movie posters and select hardcover books. Lots of Michael Jackson tribute materials. Was at the Milwaukee Best Buy yesterday--there are still definitely a lot of video games left but not too many you'd want. They have about 80 copies of Wolverine for Wii for 15 dollars. They have a lot of bad DS games and old sports games for various systems. Don't bother with a long drive if you think you're going to get anything remotely new..I combed through all the games and there wasn't too much. I think the best deal was Dead Space for Wii for only 15 bucks. Good price, but I could have saved myself the gas and paid a few more dollars on eBay. They had DSis for 120 but they were out before I checked out. They had some of the legendary DJ heroes for 80 bucks--definitely a good deal if you want it. I have to say that there is mostly just shovelware--so unless you live close or want to get a jump start on Christmas for relatives you don't particularly care for but have to get gifts for, I'd pass.

Just to update everyone, the Northridge Best Buy (On brown deer) is now closed.
The Blockbuster on Brown Deer for some reason still has all their games at 10% off rather than moving up to 20%, nothing really worth the trip at 10%. The one just south of good hope is at 20% but is mostly picked clean (what is there for the most part has no artwork) and I would maybe wait a week on checking that out. Just a heads up.

From all the previous Blockbuster closings and the current ones I have been to they always sucked.. The third party company they hire to close them trys to sell as high as they can for as long as they can and count on the tards who think 10% off is a huge deal to clean em out which they usually do.
Now that best buy that closed was handled in house and they took out all the movies and music and sent it around to other stores and didnt take a month to go beyond 10%

Yeah I did pick up a sealed COD game for xbox for like 5 bucks so I was happy about that. They haven't even discounted their strategy guides and they acted insulted when I asked when the prices would go down.
Hollywood Video in GB on Mason is in its final 10 days. I was there today and games are now 60% off. Pretty much everything decent has been combed through but there were still a few good finds. They have loose game discs that are now down to 2 dollars. Some decent ones left--mostly old sports games but some decent titles. All DVDs are now 2.99 and less--and there are still a lot of them.

Has anyone seen the Beatles: Rock Band 360 bundles at any local Targets? They're running for $59.99 or $69.99, and I'd like to pick one up just to have a full entourage of instruments. Well, that, and I'm a huge Beatles fan, but couldn't justify the $250 price tag on the bundle at release.
Thanks!

I actually found Ghostbusters for $12-$14 at the brookfield one once. The one on Browndeer typically has stuff on clearance but they are super slow to lower the price and from what I've seen no matter how bad the game once it gets below $30 someone always snags it. People tend to be sucked in by those red stickers.

haha, there do seem to be a lot of CAG's in the area, which almost makes me think some sort of trading network should be started. That being said, I've noticed that a lot of the CAG's in the area are pretty legit and don't snag every copy.
On a related note, since it's not posted anywhere else; does anyone know how the trade in prices for Half Price Books and Mega Media Xchange compare to Gamestop and Amazon? HPB seems to charge a lot more for games unless they go on clearance which makes me wonder if they pay more. Anyone have experience with either?
llm962
03-23-2010, 07:16 PM
Hollywood Video in De Pere is closing--30% off right now. Not too many great deals at just 30% but they do have some newer releases still available like Bayonetta and Borderlands. Their new games are terrible---most of them say "new" and are actually opened. Someone went through there and picked up most of the good Wii games already. Also the woman in front of me bought out all of Boston Legal on DVD, so if for some reason you're going for that, don't bother.
My experience with Mega Media Xchange, which was way back in the day before I got smart, is that they are worse than Gamestop. What they do (or did) was to not give you a flat price for the game. Like at Gamestop if you trade in Zelda Twilight Princess they'll give you a whopping (lol) 7 bucks, even if they had 30 copies on the shelf. At Mega Media Xchange they'll give you different amounts for that game depending on how many they have. So if they had four copies, they'd probably offer you like 2 bucks. Mind you, I am going back from how they operated like 7 years ago but it is pretty ridiculous. I have had great luck selling on craigslist--I have gotten tons more money for my stuff.

haha, there do seem to be a lot of CAG's in the area, which almost makes me think some sort of trading network should be started.
Im not to sure about Mega Media but seeing how low Half Priced pays for books and movies I would'nt get my hopes up on decent TIV.
I know for sure im the type of CAG that doesnt snatch up every copy.. I may grab an extra from time to time but thats when there is a ton of something...
I just cant remember how long its been since I got any deals from the Kmarts or any of the Targets around here.. The Sears in Bayshore seems empty and Brookfield gets hit hard....:cry:

I went to the Mequon Blockbuster last night. There's not much of a game selection left and the couple titles that did interest me were still overpriced after the discount.
Some decent deals to be had on :br:. I picked up Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, & Adventureland for $11 each. I'll probably go back after they bump up the discounts on Monday.
If you're interested in :hd: they have a bunch up by the register for $2. They're disc only in jewel cases.

I know HPB pays crap for books, but then again 99% of books have little resale value and end up in there $1-$3 clearance. I was just curious if anyone had any experience in trading in games since they seem to charge like $15 minimum no matter how old or crappy the game and don't move them to clearance much.
Also, anyone know any other blockbusters in the area closing? Specifically any in the greenfield area?

Hollywood Video in Appleton down to 70% off games--so says my buddy who got Indigo Prophecy for 2 bucks and change. Apparently they got new inventory from some other stores so there's a ton more stuff there. Will go and check it out probably tomorrow.

Movie Gallery in Stoughton closes Sunday. Blu-Rays are $4, DVDs are 6 for $10. They've gotten a lot of stock over the course of their closing from other Movie Galleries in the area. Games, new and used, are 70% off but their current-gen selection is horrible. (But if you're shopping for Xbox, PS2, Cube, they've got a lot.)
In the Movie Gallery closing thread, someone else mentioned that on the last day of that store's closing things went 20 for $10. This story closes Sunday; if anyone thinks they might go, let me know -- there are a few things I would pay ~$1 for to help someone round out a 20-item purchase.

Yeah they didn't change the signs but if you ask the games are 70% off.

De Pere 30% off everything in the store, tons of stuff left
Appleton 70% off everything, got new stock in but close the 29th
Oshkosh (Koeller) 70% off but the manager said not a lot of stuff left, do not make a special trip
Oshkosh (Jackson) 30% off game vault games
Fond Du Lac 20% off older games
Kiel 30% off everything
Marinette 20% off everything
I have been to a few of these locations but sadly don't have the gas money to go to all of these. If anyone goes and has more info, please post!

Correction: Hollywood on Mason closes TOMORROW. I went by there today and all the games are 80% off. There is seriously NOTHING but old sports games. I wouldn't bother going for games. DVDs, however, are 99 cents. I got a couple seasons of shows that go for like 30 bucks used on Amazon for only 5 bucks. Not bad. They still have a TON of DVDs left. I assume, however, most will be gone by tonight. It was packed when I went. Insanely long lines + crying children = not worth it for the most part.

I thought Fond Du Lac was staying open. so much for holding off on my broken 360 RROD warranty expires Nov and I was hoping to get a newly replaced one before the end of the year if one of the GCs around here still stayed open till then. hmmm, someone grabbed the only Persona 4 guide in Oshkosh HWV/GC that I wanted when I checked this afternoon. I overheard some empolyees talk about them having a list of when the drop dates are and keeping some of the gems to themself. son of a ***, o well, they are the ones who are losing their current jobs tho
thanks for the info llm962, appreciated

Yeah, apparently the people in Fond Du Lac just found out they were losing their jobs. I went to the Appleton one again today--apparently tomorrow is the absolute last day. Someone came in and cleared out whatever games they had left. Also apparently they have had a TON of theft there so maybe that's it, too. They're at 80% now--maybe tomorrow they'll go to 90% but there's really nothing good left. If you're talking about the Oshkosh on Koeller (sp?) those guys are real jackasses and it doesn't surprise me that they hoard games for themselves.

Mason officially shut its doors so don't bother going over there!

Does anyone know how much the discount is over at the Stevens Point location? Has anyone been there? Is it worth making the trip?
llm962

I don't know about Stevens Point--I think they have been closing for a while now but I could be wrong. Give them a call. The Hollywoods I've called have been pretty honest about how much stuff they have out and they'll tell you the percentage off. My experience with the three I've gone to has been that they are very motivated to sell. I've gotten amazing deals every time I've gone.

The Cudahy, Racine, Kenosha Hollywood Videos/Gamecrazy stores are closing too currently. The first 2 are at 20% off basically everything, its blanket 20% at GC, varies slightly at Hollywood. Still a lot of stuff at all 3, the Kenosha ones do not start until probably next week since they were informed about the closing today.
If you want to find newer games, check Kenosha since they aren't liquidating quite yet you might find some deals. The more popular/newer games get shipped to non closing stores before liquidation.
But truthfully just shop at any of them, 20% off is good savings on a lot of things and the way the liquidations are run is if sales are not good they will close the store and ship out product to other stores and not further discount at those locations.

The Kenosha one is closing? Interesting... hopefully the Gamecrazy attached stays alive. Thanks for the info though I appreciate it, I plan on checking out the Racine store soon.

No, the Gamecrazy is closing. They don't close the video side and keep the Gamecrazy typically, and I know for certain both sides are closing regardless.

What?! The next closest actual game store is Gamestop 20 minutes away in Racine... that's some bull.
Does that mean Gamecrazy will also being having a storewide sale? While I'm sad by this news as I knew a few of the employees there, I guess I benefit from this if they do in fact have a sale.
