I just got my bleach 2 game in the mail today but to play it need to update to 1.52 which i dont want to do. I went to psphacks and found the wab version changer. Before i try to use it was just wondering has anyone else used it and does it work? And also is there another way to play the game without updating? Thanks

It doesnt work. Don't update if you ever want to play Homebrew again since they scrapped the idea of there downgrader becaause they couldn't get it to work.

I have a 1.5 Firmware and downloaded WAP changer 2.5 and I can play games that require updates (Medevil, Namco, etc) just fine. Homebrew works aswell.

Yeah, the WAB Changer works fine....it's just a trick, not the downgrader pimpinc333 thinks.

I've played Burnout and Namco with this just fine.

Seriously? So if you use this firmware cheat you will be able to play an game on a 1.5 that requires a firmware update?

Yes, it just tricks your PSP into thinking it's a 1.52. I think there is one that tricks it into thinking it's a 2.0 (which is probably what we'll need in the future)

yeah wab version changer v2.5 makes it think its 2.0 ^_^

Yep. You can play games that require 1.51, 1.52, 2.0 games on a 1.5 firmware system. So far though I don't thinl any games require 2.0.

If you update after using the WAB changer it totally fucks up your firmware because it uses the wrong update.

DO NOT UPDATE OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PSP!

Just use the other method posted on pspupdates.com

All you do is put in a 1.5 game and then when it gets to the white screen switch the disc with the 1.52+ game you want to play.

I havent tried it yet, but they claim it works over there.

I wonder if this would work with UMD Movies because they require updates to play them.

Thanks Quack for the info. I knew it was some way for that to happen and I didn't want to mess up my 1.5.

That sounds like it will fuck up your PSP if you do it wrong.

I dont know how it would...I mean if you had bad timing you would have to turn the PSP off and then back on probably, but whatever.....

Quack's message was full of hyperventilation but low on details.

I'm guessing he means that if you trick your 1.5 PSP into thinking it's 1.52, and then you update to 2.0, you could have probs. It'll try to update you from 1.52 to 2.0 instead of 1.5 to 2.0. I imagine that would be bad.

Of course, the WAB Changer allows you to set your PSP back to 1.5 again. As long as you do that before updating to 2.0, I don't see how you could have any problems.

Again, that's just a guess, but I think that's what he meant.

Yeah, I think if you set it back to 1.50 and then update you should have no troubles. I can see where the PSP may get confused if it thinks it's a 1.52 then update to 2.0. I don't plan to update anytime soon, so I'm fine.

Anyone know if using the WAB Changer will kill your PSP if you decide to upgrade to v2.0 some time in the future?

Quackzilla said that it will. I'm not sure where he got the info.

yeah, people are speculating that upgrading from 1.52 to 2.0 will brick your PSP if you really only have a 1.5 and are using the WAB Changer. I'm wondering if there would be a problem if you turn the changer off so your PSP is set to 1.5 again and then upgrade to 2.0. It seems like there wouldn't be any issues but you never know...

Well according to other forums...as long as you set it back to 1.5 you shouldn't have problems. I'm waiting for someone to tell me that they have done it to be sure. The thing about the WAB changer is that you CANT turn it off. You need to set a version. Even if you delete the changer from the memory stick, the PSP still thinks it's a 2.0 so you need to tell it it's a 1.5...again I want to hear from somone who HAS updated coz I'd like to go up to 2.0 at some point.

Well you will be waiting a long time, if the changer lets your psp think its 2.0, why would someone update to 2.0? It would be a waste of time. Maybe next firmware update but who knows when that is.

From the looks of the cracked 2.0 I'd say it's pretty soon. I heard that the downgrader from 2.0 to 1.5 works and you can update if you choose to do so. Sounds cool, but I would be scared shitless of bricking the PSP, hence why I wish someone were to have updated after using the WAB changer. I'm sure someone out there has tried.

I think it will work. The brick will only occur if, for example, you have a v1.5 and use the WAB Changer to upgrade to v1.52 and then try to do a firmware update to v2.0. As long as you set it back to v1.5 before the firmware update there shouldn't be any problems... hopefully someone will crack 2.0 soon so I can play the emulators, surf the web and play the latest PSP games...

Does ANYONE know a clear answer!? I don't want to fuck up my psp, and I'd like to upgrade. How can I do it if I have the WAB changer?

here's a question,

I got one mem card for emulators and videos, and the included 32 I use for game saves.

do I keep the wab program on both sticks??

like if I change it to a 2.0 configuration on one stick, then switch sticks, will my psp still think it is 2.0? and will I be able to change it back with the 2nd stick?

I hope dat makes sense what Im asking

There's really no need to keep the changer on both cards. I wouldnt put it on both coz you can put in the card that has the changer and swap versions.

PS....can I freakin' update after using changer....arrrgh! Need to know. Please...someone.

I think you can - over at PSPforums or psp-hacks or somewhere I read about someone who had a 2.0, downgraded to 1.5, usd the wab changer to fake going back to 2.0 and everything ran fine. Your best bet is to ask around there - someone will give you a more definitive answer.

Also, I don't think the firmware updates are stored on the memory card so swapping them out wouldn't make a difference (having a v1.5 card and a separate v2.0 card). Just because you get a new memory card doesn't mean that your version goes back to factory settings when you take the old one out.

yeah I did my research, it writes it to like a "flash" memory inside the PSP

so if I go into a pseudo 1.52 mode and take my card out completely, itll stay in 1.52.

but itd be nice to keep the changer is both cards tho, medievel resurrection comin soon from gamefly!

also do games w/ forced updates update for u automatically or do they warn you beforehand?

dont wanna get screwed...

dont wanna get screwed...They'll give you an option to upgrade. It's not automatic.
