View Full Version : Japanese DS- I am a girl so bear w/ me

I want to get the pink Nintendo DS from Japan. I have been reading a lot about them and am getting mixed info. Will US games work on the Japanese DS? Some of the info I am reading is saying the system and games are non-regional and some info is saying they are.

Secondly, does anyone have any reason why I should not get a Japanse version? Are their disadvantages?

Lastly, where should I purchase it from? Lik-sang and Play Asia have them. Play Asia is $20.00 cheaper, but I have not heard anything about them. People seem to recommend Lik-Sang. I do not want to buy the system on Ebay. Thanks everyone for your help!

play-asia is perfectly fine... i order from them a lot, and they're always quite good (sometimes they ship slow, but whatever).

as far as region lockout, you're fine to get the japanese DS... there's no difference between it's hardware and the U.S. version.

i have a black ds from japan and have no problems whatsoever with it.

both lik-sang and play asia have been good to me, though some people seem to complain about shipping now and again.

1) It will play all region games
2) If it breaks or has stuck/dead pixels you probably wont be able to exchange it with Nintendo of USA. I dont know about sending it to Nintendo in Japan.

YesAsia has good rpcies and shipping. While there's probably no return policy, Japan DS systems are fine seeing as how there's no region lock.

They're very professional and also nice to you on the phone. They're out of pink and white now, but they still have red, black, and turquoise.

I wouldnt order from Lik-Sang, they overprice everything IMO. Best import shop to me seems like Yesasia.com, thats where ill be grabbing like 5 Nintendo DS imports soon enough.

I think the Pink DS looks cool, i myself wouldnt use it because i wouldnt feel right lol. A girl using a pink DS though, thats pretty hot. Maybe if the pink DS comes stateside ill get it for my girlfriend.

Don't forgrt pickup "Zoo Keeper" is excellent game for GIRL. If you lucky you can get it for $10 at Bestbuy :)

(though, to be truthful, i have yet to find one that doesn't)

I just wanted to add to this list that you also can't register your DS at Nintendo.com, if that matters at all to you.

Haha, recognized it from GameFAQs as well. My girlfriend has the DS, it's cute as hell with the pink stylus =P.
