I sold my Gamecube for $25 (used). Then Metroid Prime 2 came out, so I bought it back for $50.

Net result - I lost $25. Stupid me. I'll never make that mistake again.

DS. Bought it for under $50 (traded in games), sold it for $80 in store credit because nothing was coming out for it. Picked it back up recently.

XBox. Sold it and the games, got a ton of PS2 games.. traded in the PS2 games during a promotion and got another XBox (the first one was a Thompson).

I did that with my cube:

Bought it for $99.99 w/free extra controller from GS.
Sold it for $90 w/extra controller to a friend.
Then I repurchased one after trade-ins at EB for $20 out of pocket.
Then traded it in for $40.

I sold my PS1 and then rebought the smaller one as a combo with the screen. I wouldn't have rebought if not for the screen since I use it when I travel sometimes thus I dont regret selling it in the first place.

!.Sold my Saturn & 40 games for $500...bought it all back 2 yrs later still missing House of the Dead but on the plus side I have Panzer Dragoon Saga this time around...:)

2.Sold my Snes with 90 games for 400+ like 4yrs ago...had every rare title you could think of minus the strategy titles...then I got a few back and sold them last year for $100...:wall:

3.My DC collection to get a PS2...on the plus side I managed to get it all back :)

4.Sold off my entire Psone collection on the hype that PS2 was the future, still missing 40+ games, check my tradelist ;)

5.Sold off 70+ N64 games because they were "dated", I currently have 5

Only my saturn which I sold to pay for my DC. Later on I found a cheap one and rebought it. I kept a handful of games.

But I wouldn't make that mistake again.

PS2 - I still really don't like it, but I have to be able to play Silent Hill 3, and Kingdom Hearts.

Nintendo DS - Bought it at launch, and it had (IMO) one of the worst launch line-ups so I sold it. I bought it back because I wanted to play my GBA games with a backlight. I still don't care for it much though.

1.I've had a love/hate relationship with the PS2, sold it a couple times, but now I have a slim model that I'll keep until it dies.

2. I sold a Dreamcast and just got another a couple weeks ago and I'll probably hang on to it for a while too.

Purchased a DC when it dropped to $100, sold it to a friend for $75, I needed new breaks for my car. Got another one for Xmas, and just recently bought 2 for $15 at EBgames.

Traded my Genesis and games for N64, just recently bought a Genesis off ebay.

Honestly I would never sell a system unless I knew I could get another one and also make a profit. No system has ever come close to sucking that much for me to sell it (GameCube is borderline)...

Most of my systems actually:

Playstation 2 (own 2 now)
Gamecube
Gameboy Advance
Dreamcast (own 3 now)
Playstation (own 2 now)
Genesis
Super NES
NES

I generally made a shitload on my sales and bought them years later for dirt cheap. Not to mention I would only rebuy them in pristine condition.

None of them. Anything I'd consider selling I wouldn't get enough money to make it worthwhile, and I'd just want to buy it back again later anyways.

None for me, but I've only been selling stuff for a year or two. Before that it'd go into the closet once I grew tired of it. (So I actually still have my original 2600, NES, and SNES.)

I am considering selling my Xbox while it still has some value, since I picked up a PS2 a month or so ago. I figure I could buy it back in 1-2 years for under $50 easily and pick up the one or two dozen games I still would want to play for pretty cheap. But I can't bring myself to do it.

Just curious, where did you sell your Cube for just $25? I know you sell stuff on eBay, or was that pre-eBay for you?

Never trade in a ststem or hndheld, you ALWAYS regret it later (unless it really sucks, like a virtual boy or an ngage).

I recently traded in my PS2 with 3 games for $115 credit at ebgames. I'm planning on buying a slim PS2 when the XBox 360 comes out in Nov, praying for a price drop.

Edit: I should also mention that it was making some bad grinding noised and Burnout 3 and DJ:FFNY kept freezing, though other games seemed fine. No DREs yet, but I figured they were coming.

i had my dreamcast stolen while on christmas vacation, along with about 40 game cases (no discs or manuals, they were with me in DVD cases). i bought another one at EB for $10 a couple years ago, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore. i think i'm going to order one off ebgames.com, and return mine in its place.

I have never sold a videogame system. I have given away quite a few PCs, though. Of course, that was only after I had gone out and bought myself a spiffy new one.

None, I'm not an idiot.

I did sell my SNES and Genesis and games because I bought into the hype of the PS2 (managed to get enough store credit for the system at launch and 1 game). I have since bought them back. Although I wish I didn't, I was just a kid at the time. An idiot? I resent that. An uninformed gamer at the time who didn't understand what he had? That about sums it up.

Sell a game system? What'chu talkin' 'bout? I've never sold a game system. Sadly, my family donated my Commodore 64 to some charity when we got our first PC, and I'm still a bit miffed about that.

I have had many systems and large game collections, but have since sold each of them off. It wasn't until last year and the PS2 release of FFXI that I dove back into console gaming and bought a PS2. I then researched and gathered all of the great PS1 games I missed out on. I bought my original PS1 near release but sold it a few years later after hearing of yet another delay in FF7 and got tired of the flood of crappy games.

The only system I ever sold was my Atari 2600 in the early 90's. I started to regret it a few summers ago so I bought one with about 20 games.

I believe the only two were a NES and a Genesis. It was a very long time ago that I sold them, and I replaced both of them about 3 years ago. I replaced the Genesis with a Genesis 3. I love that little system!

After beating Chrono Cross, I traded in my PSX for a Gamecube(there's a story behind it, but basically Chrono Cross was so bad that I traded in the system and a ton of games the very same day. I regret trading in the games  ). I picked up a Ps2 a year ago, so I haven't seen occassion to get another one.

I did that with my ps2 and i think a few of my gameboys then I gave my gamecube away then my cousin makes fun of me going "what are you gonna do buy that back again like you did for 3 other systems"

The only system I ever sold was my N64 because I got tired of gaming. A year later I bought another one so I could play WWF No Mercy, and I paid less than what I sold it for.

I'm currently selling my Nintendo Gamecube since there is almost nothing I want to play on it. I'm keeping the two games I like and will play them on my brother's Gamecube if I want.

I would sell my older stuff too, I don't regret selling systems like many people do, but I wouldn't get much for them so I just keep them.

i would say i have sold or traded dc, gen, snes, nes. ps1,sat, i dont regret it, cuz at the time got the new thing out, now i have got them all back and have more games then ever, for a lot less money. heck i even sold over 80 ps2 and xbox games a few weeks ago, i figure in a year or two will be as cheap as ps1 or gen cartridges

When I was in 4th grade, my family sold our NES to help pay for a Genesis. We regretted so much I've never let it happen to me again. (Got an NES of my own much later on.)

I have given away a few systems tho... GB when I got GBC, my NES for a top-loader, my Playstation when I got my PS2.

The GB is buried somewhere in my friend's room... in the unlikely event I ever go over again, I may take it back cuz she never plays it. It's sadly a bit hacked up now though...

The NES was loaned to my brother on the strict promise that it was still MINE, and would be returned whenever I asked (I'd like to have it on a secondary TV someday.) It's currentlly residing with some of his friends in Vancover. At least it better be...

The Playstation was given to a friend, sold back to my brother when they got a PS2, given to my sister, who sold it for $5 a few months ago. I regret letting her do that a bit...

Oh yeah- the genesis we bought back then is my bro's now, so it's either in Spokane or Vancover. I have a Gen/CD combo now.

None, I'm not an idiot.

Well, nothing wrong with keeping systems, I know I do now, but looking back at some of my older systems I got rid of, I did so to get more money for them... I once sold my old NES for 35 dollars (it was on the fritz)... years later I purchase another for 10... I certainly couldnt get 35 for one (unless is is a top loader, but it isnt)... it worked out well for me

Now... my repurchased systems
NES... dont regret, got alot for it and games, most of my 100+ current NES titles I got free
SNES.. have a much better and cheaper to buy collection now
Genesis.. same... except I miss Phantasy Star IV and Psycho Fox(which I played on my SMS converter)
Saturn (regret this most of all, thinking about some of the games I had, such as the rare Christmas Nights demo)
PS (sold the old one for 40 when I got a PS2... but to save wear and tear on the PS2 when playing older PS1 games, I picked up a PSone, later got an LCD screen, and a car adaptor... only paid about 50 for all of it together...)

Only system I ever sold was my Atari Jaguar, which later got replaced with a Jaguar Debug Kit.
