I was sitting back and thinking of some of the scariest all-time tv shows and was wondering what you guys thought were some.

To me, the scariest one was Tales from the Darkside. It had the most creepy intro of all time. The rest of the show was pretty scary, too. I believe George Romero, the man responsible for the greatest horror trilogy of all time, wrote quite a bit for the show. But I have to give props to the show just for the freaky-ass intro.
MAN LIVES IN THE SUNLIT WORLD OF WHAT HE BELIEVES TO BE REALITY. BUT, THERE IS, UNSEEN BY MOST, AN UNDERWORLD. A PLACE THAT IS JUST AS REAL, BUT NOT AS BRIGHTLY LIT. A DARKSIDE That is enough to put an Amish child in therapy for the rest of his life.

Also, do you remember Fright Flicks? It was hosted by Freddy and was just like all the Tales from the Darkside and Twilight Zone shows where it had different scary shows. What I thought was cool about it was one episode actually went back and showed, in detail, what happened to Freddy and how he was burned. I know it also was shown in Freddy vs. Jason, but that was kinda neat, too.

I thought Friday the 13th: The Series wasn't too shabby, either. Although it had nothing to do with Mr. Vorhees, there were quite a few spooky episodes.

Anyway, I'm interested in what you guys think are some of the scariest shows ever.

Like we just discussed Unsolved mysteries, at least if you are a child and are watching them...

A little while ago before I was a network admin, I was a Sushi Chef, and at the bar we had a tv behind us. I worked lunch shifts and would always make my japanese coworker watch unsovled mysteries/miami vice/ or magnum pi.

He would get pretty freaked out...

one of the best things on UM, was this mexican beast called la cocooracha..or whatever. It had shining red eyes and would eat people.

Its sorta funny how throughout the entire run...like 20 years they had stores about ghosts/aliens/murders/lost loves...and the only ones that got solved were the realistic ones.

HOLY CRAP! i totally remember that one, the chupa-kabra or something. wow, and i thought i was the only one who knew about it..

-edit- and i thought it ate goats, not people. i think it might of killed people, but didn't eat them.

Hahahaha, you mean El Chupacabra. There are quite a few people who believe in it. Also, there's a movie out called El Chupacabra, I believe.

Was it El Chupacabra - The Goatsucker? That's my favorite mythic beast.

My favorite mythic beast is the wendigo. Supposedly every time you say its name, it takes a step closer to killing you...

Bah. Beyond Belief.

Runner ups would be Night Visions and The Outer Limits. None of these are really scary, per se. Psychotic. It's kinda like how Night Visions is to Resident Evil where as Beyond Belief and Night Visions is to Silent Hill.

PS: GO ME!! I'm learning my analogies through video games. Hah, and my parents say they only rot my brain. I laff @ thee!

Are you afraid of the dark was a pretty creepy show.

And for some reason when I was younger, America's Most Wanted freaked me out.

Night Gallery was some creepy TV. It was basically Twilight Zone in color, and was Rod serling's creation after Twilight Zone, before his untimely death.

And re-runs of the original outerlimits and twilight zone were some wacked out shizit when I was a kid. Especially the TZ episode with William Shatner who played a crazed passenger who saw a monster tearing apart a planes engine during flight. Brilliant storytelling. They remade it for the TZ movie. Scared the crap out of me.

The scariest shows are the documentaries. The fact that you know it isn't acting adds that extra freak factor.

One time, I will never forget, there were giving this documentary on bigfoot or one of his incarnations, and some idiots were in the middle of the forest in the dead of night looking for it. They had set up cameras and stuff and at one point they recorded this unearthly noise that they figured to be bigfoots growl. That noise was so freaky I almost didn't sleep that night.

It goes without saying but you would never find me in the middle of a pitch black forest looking for some creature - especially after hearing a noise like that.

Haha, there was a lot of people that thought it was real. They did a really good job in making the movie. But the sequel sucked major anus.

Hmmm, I coulda sworn it was called Fright Flicks, but if you have the show, maybe it was called Freddy's Nightmares.

Also, Monsters was another good show. Not too scary, really, but overall pretty good. It was more weird than scary. Especially, the intro with the monster family sitting there eating eyeballs and talking about how scary humans were.

And how can we forget about Tales from the Crypt? That show had tons of today's actors on it before they were popular. The Cryptkeeper was crazy man. I bet that dude would have been cool as hell to hang out with before he died.
