Ive been playing this game on and off since it came out and Im 75% done and on the "7th area/level"

However, on "area 2 and 4" on the preview laps (that plane symbol) I can get gold on these times races but I only get a Great! No PERFECT. What the fuck is up with that? I take every short cut in the area on some races, NO shortcuts on some, than alternate shortcuts to see what would give me the fucking gold, but nothing works. Is my game glitched up? I have gotten perfects on everything else Ive done; but not these! Something is seriously wrong here!

Any Help/ideas/suggestions?

try boosting for long periods of time, drifting in turns, trying to catch air, checking traffic all of those things help boost your rating.

I've gotten Gold-but-not-Perfect on a race, so I doubt it's a glitch. Maybe you need to take out some rivals, do trick shots, get great air, etc.

I suggest this and driving in oncoming traffic. It's easy for me to get Awesome ratings, but hard to get Gold on the time laps.

Are you beating the lap time and getting 'Awesome' while doing so?

You get a rating of 1-4 stars DURING the race.

Bronze subtracts a star
Silver is neutral
Gold adds a star

The maximum number of stars is 5, which is a 4 star rating plus a gold.

Well you dont have to be 75% done to see these levels. Theyre two of the first ones. Theyre the preview laps in the 2 and 4 areas.

These are timed laps so theres no rivals or nothing. Ive done these two areas and gotten gold each time, but only the 4 star great. It doesnt give me perfect despite finishing up to 10 seconds before the alloted time. These levels are only about 1 min long.

Its odd because Ive gotten perfect in EVERYTHING up to "level/area 8" except these 2 stupid preview laps.

The rating is how dangerously you drive, plus driving skills.

You need to get a 4 star awesome rating during an event AND get a gold medal for perfect.

Yea I do that. I dont crash in either. I Take all the shortcuts/ramps. I hit on coming traffic once in awhile. I usually always have it on boost as well.

Have you gotten perfect in these two levels? I dont see why mine just wont give it to me.

Bah! Im at 90% and still cant get these 2 stupid levels. Granted I only try them about 3 times; but it seems useless.

The 10 area is full of crap too. These Burning Laps timed races bullshit really suck the life out of this game...

Got perfect ratings so far thru the first 5 rankings. The burning lap you're talking about is the one with the EA Racer and the one race in Rome right? I actually suggest you don't hit all the shortcuts as it cuts down on your chance to stay in the oncoming lanes and stay boosted.

If I'm thinking of the right one (the one w/ the EA Racer), then you can boost all throughout staying on the main road and do some major drifting and finish with plenty of time.

With the other one, only take two of the shortcuts and there's lots of opportunity to drift and go against oncoming. The first one should be the tunnel shortcut right after the first right turn which allows you to boost all the way through for a good 20-30 seconds. After that, just look for oncoming lanes and drift wherever possible.

I'll be goddamned! It looks like your suggestions worked. I cant believe I didnt try doing these into oncoming traffic! I mean thats all that worked in the last Burnout. I tried these levels after I tried the LAST burning lap last night with that stupid logitech racer. That one level alone took me about an hour and a half. In the middle of it, I tried the two levels I was having problems with and beat them on the first try! Thanks man!

Good to hear. I must've raced the Rome one about 8 straight times before I finally got it. Most burning laps I've encountered so far have been a matter of getting an Awesome ranking as opposed to not getting under the gold medal time. The shortcuts can be tempting, but more often than not, you're better off staying on the main road.

Have you done the last burning lap yet? The one in Motor City thats like 55 secs long and you have to have that Logitech racer? That race is a motherfucker

Burnout Revenge.... 100% complete.

This Burnout was actually a bit easier than the last. I only had trouble on the last burning lap and last Crash. I got 100% on the last Burnout, but it was alot harder as I was new to the Burnout thing. On this one, I got perfect the first time alot of the times. Those that gave me some trouble, I finished within 3 tries. Granted those two preview laps I bitched about before gave some trouble. I never played em that much. Once I saw I did everything perfect; got only good; I figured glitch and moved on. When I tried them later, got em on the first show.

I think what takes this game SO long is the damn loading times. Damn, they were like 15 secs each screen!

Im done with this game. I plan on keeping it cause its damn fun like the last (which I still have); but I wont be touching it for awhile.

Yeah, I wish for the restarts on races and crash modes, it'd go immediately back to the start. Haven't played the game in a while though.
