Honestly, I'd rather see a DDR-like game with the music from Amplitude than another Amplitude-type game.

For Shame!

p.s. IMO DDR is just getting old

Honestly, I'd rather see a DDR-like game with the music from Amplitude than another Amplitude-type game.I've always thought that a DDR game with a more Amplitude-style soundtrack would be awesome. I know I'd be a lot more into DDR if the music was more my cup of tea. I'd still love to see Amplitude 3 though.

I'd kill for a new Amplitude ...

Guitar Hero looks like it will play pretty similarly just, you know, with a big honking kickass guitar.

Guitar Hero just got a 4.5/5 from OPM...I can't wait :-)

Amplitude is by far the best PS2 game out, and I doubt it'll ever be topped. Frequency was just awful tho =P.

I'd kill for an Amplitude 3, but uh...wouldn't Amplitude 2 need to come first, or did they make one and I totally missed out?

I was a beta for Freq, Amp, and Karaoke Rev. for Harmonix. They are pretty good guys, but it is obvious that they are nothing but a small outfit that can only work on things if Sony will pay them for it. So emailing Harmonix, I guarantee, won't do anything. You've got to email Sony and Sony alone if you want a sequel. Or tell your friends to buy Amplitude and play online. Crash those servers.

It wouldn't be Amplitude 3, it should have another music related title like timbre or tempo or G-Clef

Just bumping this because we NEED a third installment in the Frequency/Amplitude series. It must be made. Maybe with all the popularity Harmonix got with Guitar Hero, intrest will pick up.

From what I've heard both of them sold pretty poorly so Sony isn't interested in making a 3rd. I guess a lot of people could buy a copy....but with Amplitude being around $10 in so many places, I don't think thats going to help anybody ;)

Amplitude is by far the best PS2 game out, and I doubt it'll ever be topped. Frequency was just awful tho =P.lol, that's a pretty extreme statement. I have a hard time seeing how one could be "by far the best PS2 game out" and the other could be "just awful." Isn't the gameplay pretty much the same on both titles? I know you fly in a ship in Amplitude, but that was purely cosmetic.

do you think this would happen, even with the popularity of Guitar Hero? the popularity of music/rhythm based games has definitely gone up as of late, but a lot of those are with non-conventional controllers.

Frequency had a lot of bad game mechanics, and keeping a combo is almost an impossibility. The graphics are very distracting and mediocre, and the song selection, IMO of course, is horrible.

I played Amplitude before Frequency, mind you, and Frequency I only beat to say I beat it. Amplitude I've been playing for fun ;P.

Frequency was a fine game. How can you like Amplitude and say Frequency's game mechanics were bad (they have the same basic gameplay). Keeping a combo is fine. Perhaps you're not that good? I do agree the graphics can be distracting, but that's why you can select the background. The song selection was great (not great like Amplitude, but great for the game at its time).

Plus, you're opinion is biased since you played the sequel (Amplitude) before the original (Frequency).

No way.
Harmonix will be focusing on sequels/add-ons to Guitar Hero.
I think we can kiss any more Amplitudes goodbye.

Do I smell an Xbox 360 version with downloadable song packs?

Sony owns the Frequency/Amplitude series and refuses to give the rights to Harmonix. Harmonix would love to do another one, but because of this they can't. Stop pestering them, it would be like emailing Joss Whedon demanding more Firefly. You're talking to the wrong people.

i wish there would be a guitar hero on 360 with downloadable songs and maybe even customizing your own chords. i think sony is going to try and pull some shit to keep guitar hero a sony exclusive pretty soon. they have the money... im sure they're thinking "why not?"

ive never played amplitude. im gonna see if we have any at work that i can pick up.

Dear lord, Cheapy. I'd never get anything done if that happened. I'm for it! :)
