Hey guys, I was wondering about the PSO games for the DC. Back in the day, I was really looking forward to PS Online but due to me wanting to pay the monthly fee, I figured it wasn't worth paying $50 for the off-line experience.

So now that this game is really cheap, is it worth picking up for the off line experience?

And I know version 2 had this thing where once you went online with it, you couldn't use the game on another system. Does that mean that I can't play a used copy off line on my DC?

you do know that there are still servers to play v2 on without the fee correct?

A used copy would have worked offline anyway, as your serial number was stored both on your VMU file as well as the system. Online now it doesn't matter as there's no means of keeping track of your log ons and log offs as any servers are fan servers. You need a Code Breakers to log on to them anyway, so grab one if you plan on playing online.

I'm pretty sure the first version of PSO never had any monthly fees. The official European servers are still up, so try to get a PAL version if you can.

I started playing PSO offline and was really impressed by it, but once I got past the first area, it got boring quick because of the uninspired level designs and generic enemies. If you have a Gamecube, get PSO for that since it has a lot more to it, and just invite some buddies over for offline co-op.

I did not know that... I thought all the servers were shut down... heh.:)

The GC versions are kinda pricy so I'd rather pick the DC versions up since they're less than $3-4 each. Thanks guys.

The servers up are fan-made. You need a Gameshark/Codebreaker to play online.
