I'm new on the selling side of ebay, and I was wondering what I should do in these auctions.
First of all, my grandfather owns a hobby store called RC Hobbies and Games. For six/seven years now, he's been giving me random packs of cards (Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Magic, Digimon, and a few others). I don't play these, and to this day I have about 10,000 of them. So I've been thinking that the best way to unload these is on ebay.
I'm selling Yu-Gi-Oh cards first, since I have tons of them, and I'm wondering whether or not my auction will sell. Here's what I'm going to do:
Offer cards in packs of 10 (nine commons and one rare or higher) for $7 BIN
Offer a Yu-Gi-Oh video game in random lots (I have three, got them as gifts)
Offer random lots filled with nothing but rares or better
Offer starter packs in certain random lots, each counting as one card
Charge $2 shipping, but offer reduced shipping of $10 for more than ten packs
Do you think that these would sell? I'm thinking about putting up a 10 item auction, just to see. Then I'll do 100 or 200 if they sell. Also, would I be able to just put these in an envelope like regular letters?
I'm open for criticism.

I was going on that 10 card packs at WalMart cost $5, and mine might include 60 cards or a brand new GBA game.
Really? My mother suggested that I sell them all in big lots, but I think the ebay fees would be a lot for that. And yes, I was thinking about excluding some of the best cards and saving them for separate auctions.

its beeter to take the ebay fees on one big auction than on say, 10-15 little ones
plus like they said, one collector might be interested in a large lot

He used to live around here, but now he lives in Ohio. He also stopped giving me packs of cards, which is why I'm selling them now instead of later.
And okay, I'm going to do an auction for a bunch of them. I have too many to do one auction on. What about three of 5000 each? Not sure how many I have.

Just a question, are you new to ebay itself, or just to the selling aspect? Maybe it's just me, but I'm willing to pay more for an item if someone has some feedback behind them rather than a brand spanking new 0 rated person. Maybe put up a few lots small to build confidence then list the big lots?

I'm new as a seller. I have 50 positives and 2 negatives, those only because the sellers were complete assholes. One of them gave me negative because he sent me a french/english DVD two months after I bought it, and the other gave me a negative because I gave him a positive and mentioned that the bonus he gave was fake. Can you believe that I pay immediately with PayPal, and he says "NOT A PLEASURE TO DEAL WITH, SLOW PAYMENT BAD EBAYER D MINUS MINUS."
Anyways, I typed up what the auction would look like a few months ago. This is what I came up with:
Yu-Gi-Oh! The name echoes in the mind and resides in the heart. It’s a worldwide phenomenon, bringing kids from across the globe together despite their differences. If you want the perfect gift for your kids, then here it is. In this auction you can find the rarest and coolest cards in the game. All of the ones I’ve listed are among the most sought-after cards available, and you can get any combination of them in these affordable lots. If your son or daughter loves playing and dreams of becoming World Champion like I once did, then you’re in luck.
I inspect all of my cards as a prerequisite to even adding them to my collection just so that I can weed out the fakes. I don’t know if you know, but there are lots of fake cards coming out of California. I’ve bought a few bad lots with fake cards in them from places like San Diego. Let me tell you that there’s nothing more disappointing to realize that you’ve been cheated into buying fraudulent cards. I threw those out, right away. I was really upset, you know? It’s low and basically sinful to do something like that.
The first things you can tell about fake cards are that none of them have foil lettering or holographic pictures. Also, they stay bent when you fold them in half. The cards may be colored differently as if they’ve “been played with a lot and I have sweaty hands” (one seller’s excuse for why his trap cards were all discolored). Some of these people even have a foil print on the bottom of the card. If you look closely at them, you’ll notice that they say “Yu-Gi-On” or “YuGO.” None of my cards have this. I can guarantee 100% authenticity on every single card.
These are the sets I have cards from (I have both 1st Edition and Unlimited of all sets):

Just think of some good cards that I haven’t listed and I’m sure I have them!
Here are all the incentives:
Incentive #1: Exodia comes in a full set, and that full set counts as only one card!
Incentive #2: Most lots have a theme to them. Basically each lot will be like this: Harpie Girl, Harpie Lady #1, Harpie Lady #2, Harpie Lady #3, Birdface, Harpie’s Brother, Harpie Lady, Roc from the Valley of Haze, Elegant Egotist, Harpie’s Feather Duster. That’s a great start to any aspiring duelist’s deck. Also, none of the cards will counteract the other cards. For instance, I won’t put in a spirit card and then give you Premature Burial.
Incentive #3: Random lots will contain a starter deck, and that starter deck will count as one card. I have 20 of them.
Incentive #4: I have five sets of the Exclusive Pack. Random lots will contain the entire set - five common cards plus three ultra rare cards! And what’s more is that this set will only count as one card, meaning that you still get the other nine cards.
And the coup de gracé...
Incentive #5: 1 set of promo cards PLUS the game - what I mean is that in certain lots I’ll put in one entire set of promo cards (from any game), and it’ll count as one card! So say you’re the lucky lady or gentleman that receives a lot full of ultra rares. You could get nine top-quality cards, such as Black Luster Soldier, Vampire Lord, or Jinzo, plus the entire card set from Stairway to the Destined Duel, game included and mint!
As foreclosure, I want you to know that I have exactly 1466 rares, 1353 super rares, 2461 ultra rares, and 1310 secret rares and ultimate rares. That means that you have just as much of a chance as getting a super rare as you do a secret or an ultimate rare.
The odds of buying a pack at the store and getting an ultra rare or secret rare card are 1:16 and 1:72, respectively. 72 packs of cards from the store, each at $4 a piece, is a hefty price just for one secret rare. Buying ten lots from me could land you with probably five ultra rares and two secret rares. How many other sellers offer that?
Trust me when I say it’s much easier to buy bargain lots and get good cards than to buy random packs and hope you’re lucky enough to get something good.
So to recap, for just this low price of seven dollars you could get a scheme similar to this:
1 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning + 1 Jinzo + 1 Vampire Lord + 1 full set of Exodia with Exodia Necross + 1 Dark Magician of Chaos + 1 Mirror Force + 1 D.D. Warrior Lady + 1 Evolution Yugi Starter Deck + 1 set of cards from the Exclusive Pack (featuring three cards whose powers rival that of Blue-Eyes White Dragon) + 1 set of promo cards from Forbidden Memories (Metalmorph, Harpie’s Pet Dragon, and Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon) INCLUDING the game, all 1st Editions (game cards do not come 1st Editions), all in their own sleeves, none damaged nor torn, all 100% tournament legal.
Getting all of the most sought-after cards with a price tag of around $500 for only $7? That’s a good deal.
If you buy one, the shipping is $2.50 US only (I don’t know how much shipping would be so I’ll just pay for the remainder if it comes to more than that). Each pack, if you buy ten or more, is $1.00 shipping. Insurance on the whole purchase is $1.00 as well.
That's why I was thinking of doing lots like this instead of a whole bunch at once. But if you think that I should do them all at once, then I will.
I sold off most of my valuable MTG cards a while ago. I had a few hundred seperate auctions, most auctions were for 4 of the same card, since that is how MTG decks are designed. I suppose Yugioh cards might not be worth near as much as MTG, but I definitely made far more doing seperate auctions than if I bundled them into lots or one huge lot.

I'd do some extensive research first... I do like the theme idea. I sold some Yu-Gi-Oh cards last summer, and sold off the Exodia set I had piece by piece, clearing $100 when that was done. Another card of note is the First Edition Chaos Command Magician... had one of them too, and they go for a nice chunk of change. I'd start off with a reasonable opening bid and have an option for Buy It Now, as some people's mouse fingers move faster than their brains. ;)
With payment options, I'd recommend accepting postal money orders in addition to Paypal.
BTW, I am also an ebay seller, sailorneorune, 46 positives and 1 neutral that I got from some douche that doesn't understand that shit happens (PO mishap, item got sent media instead of 1st class).
