I hadn't heard of this system until I read someone's post about it here....well, I got one for free today :-)
So it plays genesis and Sega CD games? Can it do anything else?
It is a JVC made system that can play sega genesis and sega cd. Not sure if 32x will work or not.

You got one free? How did that happen, and would you be interested in selling it?

It can also play import genesis games (megadrive) I think.

That's awesome that you got one. I've always been interested in picking one up, but I'll probably just settle for a CDX sometime down the road. The X'Eye was supposed to have better sound than the normal CD and I know that the Japanese version had Karaoke features, but I'm not sure if those are in the U.S. version or not. I never was one for Karaoke.
In a related note, while I was trying to see if the U.S. version supported Karoke, I came across this Aiwa Sega CD model. Unfortunately, it never came Stateside. I can't believe I've never even seen it before.

That's a pretty good find. I picked one up this summer complete with the box, instructions, and all the other stuff for $10. It was too good a deal to pass up. That was the first Sega CD device I had seen in a while.
From some of the research I've done on it, I found that you can use the 32X with it, but the 32X hangs over the CD lid, preventing it from opening. I think the US version has the karaoke feature. The box shows it coming with a karaoke sampler disc.
Did anyone here ever see this thing in stores? I sure don't remember seeing it anywhere.

I'd say anything for free is a pretty good find.

Found it at this rummage sale. Since it had no hook ups, the guy just lumped it in with this NES bundle I was buying :-) Definitely not interested in selling it....I like it much better than my genesis set up so far, especially since it uses A/V cables instead of RF.

It has a mic input, i'm assuming that's for karaoke. I wonder how much the thing retailed at in 1994.....probably like $500  ("Plays Genesis, Sega CD, Audio CDs AND Karaoke!!! WHOAAAOMG!!!" )
That's interesting about the Aiwa model.....I wonder if 3rd party production of the system was Sega's way of making money back on the Sega CD and 32X.

I just found an X'eye for $5 with only the JVC controller. I managed to get it to work with a Genesis model 2 adapter and and some a/v cords from my dvd player.
I get that it is basically a Sega Genesis with Sega CD, but what about the audio Cds and Karaoke, just put the discs in? Does anyone know any websites that I can get print off the original instructions or own one mind explaining to me, how this thing works?

32x DOES work, however you can't open the CD drive with the 32x in the cartridge drive. Great system though.

I saw that Aiwa boombox in Chinatown back in the day, but it was alot of money. I cant remember exactly, but I think it was at least $300.

It says in the manual for the 32X that it doesn't, but it does. Best site I could find for the X'Eye is right here (http://darkwatcher.psxfanatics.com/console/xeye.htm). To me, the 32X is only worth having for the heck of it. Only decent thing on it was Star Wars Arcade and Night Trap, IMHO. Personally, I'd love to get a hold of a working CDX one day...

They used to sell them at Best Buy. That was back when they had a huge screen displaying the kiosk game over the games section..

I have a CDX, it supports CD+G karaoke, so I would assume the X'Eye does as well.

edit: nevermind turns out that the only thing with the x'eye that is true is that it can play games on cd-r discs!
