Man whats with people these days its just a label. Not like anyone is gonna go to your house and look at your collection and say OMG you got a GH's game. Althought I did once see an orignal copy of FF7 going for 100 on ebay. :lol:

I have no problem with any such labels. I guess I'm a collector. Or a pack rat, whatever you want to call it. But it still doesn't bother me to have a platinum hits/greatest hits game. That said, I only happen to have one game in the budget packaging, which was Silent Hill 2 for the Xbox.

If you just want to play the game you buy GH. If you are a collector, you may want the original.

You just answered your own question. A game without greatest hits label looks better because of uniformity and its worth more money in the future.

I prefer original versions but I don't mind getting the Greatest Hits version if it's all I can find.

I don't mind the GH label for the PS 2 games since the red looks kind of nice, but that GH label for PS 1 games just looks awful. What's really funny is that green is my favorite color, but for some reason their choice of green on those things just does not look good.

Eh, for the most part I refuse to take in GH stuff. It's not a problem because generally when a game goes GH, I'll simply go to the store that week and pick up an original copy for the GH price. Problem solved.

ok, people are nuts for wanting the original cover...so why dont you just throw away the case altogether. No one is gonna look at your "collection" and say anything, and of course your not going to read the manual more than once, so why keep it?

Its a preference. I PREFER my games to be in the original packaging. It looks better. Will people come over and comment on them? I dont care. I want to look at my collection and see uniformity (great time for an snl hitler...) and neatness. I own Max Payne and Tony Hawk 3 as Platinum Hits mainly because they were $5 a peice. If there was some way to have bought them in original packaging at that store at that price i would have.

As for the people paying $50 over regular asking price for original packaging... well, its thier collectible

Just picked up on this technique recently and practiced it with "The Getaway" for PS2... :)

And btw, I got lucky and found great condition non-GH FF VII for 10 the other day!

I never did like PSONE GH labels, but that's about it.

I never quite understood why people throw hissy fits on the Players Choice packaging for SNES, N64, and Gamecube.

GH lables don't bother me either. If uniformity is the only thing stopping you from buying GH, then just put all original packaging games together, and all GH together. Granted it's not total uniformity, but if they're all together it'll look better. Moot point from my point of view though.

It depends on the game. I won't ever buy a Greatest Hits FF game because I like to collect those, but something popular and always easy to find, like Tony Hawk 4 or something, then I don't care.

Once you start to get over 500 games, people don't really seem to care about if some of the games in thier collection are greatest hits or not...

A person could not just throw away the case. The lower part of the label on PS2 disc is red instead of black.

Anyone who don't like the GH label will have to deal with Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution because that was released with the GH label only. Unless, he/she don't own it.

That example doesn't hold up very well. The case and manual are part of the overall game, so getting rid of them will lower it's value. A red stripe or silver box are are just as functional as the original version's cases, though, so they're not worth more or less except in the [chemically imbalanced] minds of the people who absolutely insist on not having them in their collections.

If you were going to invest, there are so many other places where you'll get a better rate of return.

If anyone has a problem with the GH/PH packaging they should have bought the game before it achieved the status. I couldnt care less if the box is normal or GH/PH.

I dont like GH because I look at it and I feel really cheap...I mean I am, but I dont want to be reminded of it when I look at my videogames!
