Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it has decided to devote additional time to perfect the next installment in its award-winning squad-based military shooter, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. The game will launch worldwide for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in February 2006.

The additional time devoted to the development of this title will allow Ubisoft to offer gamers the best episode ever of the award-winning Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise and will enable the game’s development teams to optimize the application of Xbox 360 technology. The delay of the release date will not impact Ubisoft’s revenue forecasts for the fiscal year.

At the X05 event in Amsterdam earlier this week, Ubisoft astounded attendees with playable single- and multi-player demonstrations of the thrilling new title. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was extremely well received by event participants and Ubisoft expects the game to quickly become a blockbuster title.

“In Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, players will be able to truly immerse themselves as soldiers of the future,” said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft North America. “This game will continue the tradition of setting the bar for intense multiplayer action and cutting-edge technology. X05 attendees experienced the stunning results of the work Ubisoft’s award-winning studios have done in perfecting innovative multiplayer content and taking advantage of next-generation capabilities.”

That's alright, the more time the better.

Yep, I'll accept that....I almost pre-ordered it today at GameRush, now I have time to decide. Plus, with CoD2 and PDZ, I'll have enough FPS action....and Quake4...whoa.

"Activision was kind enough to confirm that the game will support eight players on Xbox Live."

Its good it got delayed. The more time the better ecspecially for the XBox 360 launch titles. I would rather wait them for them to rush it out for launch

I'd rather know one way or another than guess.

I've pretty much summed up that Kameo, PGR 3, PDO, Oblivion and Quake IV were no brainers for launch. This one was iffy better to know than not know.

Now I can only hope King Kong or The Outfit can take its place as the 6th game for my launch list.

The last game UbiSoft delayed was Lockdown and we all know how that one went.

This is okay. Like others have said, the more time the better. Hopefully.

The Outfit has been delayed into next year also.

Delays are a good thing. I wish they had delayed Rainbow Six: Lockdown and actually made it a good game. :D

However, Lockdown is one of those games that is so shitty that it's good, on some strange level. The terrorist hunt, on Live, is fun, though. I've played that with adamsappel.

More then 8 would probably create slowdown.

Actually i think they did 8 players in Quake because they wanted to. I dont think they wanted the chaos of more than 8 players and it is an arena based shooter not a wide open game like Battlefield. But more than 8 players would not cause slowdown. It's just the devlopers choice. Who says the more the better anyway?? 8 sounds good to me for Quake
