Does anyone know if this game is any good?

I played it on PC.. it's.. different, I guess would be a good word, not really my style, I like the earlier MMX's.

100% agreed. I'm dragging myself through X7 right now because I want to beat all the X games, but I hate it.
I've already tried a bit of X8 out and I must say it's 3,000,000% better. I can't wait for it.
But for now... stupid old X7. :(

I had a lot of fun with it. It was challenging without being cheap. The controls felt very responsive once I played for a while. I liked how Zero (my favorite character) gets different types of melee weapons in addition to his sword. In other words, everythign was a huge step above MMX7.
You can get it for $15 at Best Buy like I did (with the $5 off coupon). It was worth it.

It's part of the TRU GT sale, so if they have any at yours, should be 10 bucks (I think it's 20 normally, so 10 w/ 50 % off). Definitely worth it for that price.

I'll just say that MMX8 totally rocks. I bought the game during a sale at Target, right around the time the game came out, and absolutely love it. The gameplay is fast and fun. Easily, it's my 2nd favorite MMX game after X4 (and I own all of them, except X3, although I've played it). I actually really liked X7, didn't think I'd like X8 as much, but I was wrong.
So yeah, the game is very good. IMO, one of the best action games this generation and definitely better than every single game on Xbox.

X8 is good, but it in no way is better than ninja gaiden (black).

anyway this game is better than x7, but not as good as x1-6.

Alien Hominid is also a great game and it has a more likely chance of being hard to find later on. I think you made a good choice.
