I don't think you can play these on HDTV sets, rear projection, or a standard tv with SVIDEO... can you? Maybe that is why these are getting so cheap...

Fr standard tv with S-Video as I know you can buy the third party converter. I saw it once before.

It definately doesn't work on my projection HDTV. It does work gret however on my regular tube 36" using a/v cables. Kinda sucks to not be able to use my big screen.

Damn, I got an HDTV and lots of gun games that I havent played. I just need Crisis Zone, Vampire Night, and the Ninja one to complete my PS2 gun collection.

Any more info on the adapter?

Bought TC3 with the gun from them before and everything came in great shape. I'm considering getting either Vampire Night or Crisis Zone, does anyone know how well these support two player simultaneous play with two guns. I know TC3 does not for some reason allow you to use two guns.

Bah, if only the GunCon 2 wasn't restricted to GC2-specific games. I don't get how Namco can make their official gun less capable than all the third-party knockoffs - most of which let you switch between GunCon 1, GunCon 2, and "other" modes, accomadating basically every PlayStation gun game. Otherwise I would jump on this deal. I need to get a gun already.

I know for sure it doesn't work on my flat tube Sony cause every time I tried to calibrate the crosshairs it goes crazy. So I just stick with my reg tube one. To bad they don't have just the games for cheap cause I don't need all those guns to play.

They won't work on my HD big screen. The cross hair just keeps moving from one side to the other trying to calibrate. Which is a shame. I love those games but I have to move everything to another room to play them. If any of you want to get one of these but already have a GC2, get it anyway and pick up Time Crisis 2 for $15 before coupons. 2 gun single player is the best way to play.

TC3 use two guns just fine in the 2 player mode. Perhaps you're not connecting everything correctly?

GC2 doesn't work on GC1 games? If true, that sucks, I just got elemental gearbolt and I wanted to get one of these packs. I don't really want to get a GC1 and GC2.

They're $30 because soon namco is going to bundle them with two guns for $50.

Guncon2 is incompatible with Guncon1, but universal 3rd party guns, like my favorite MadCatz Blaster, works with both, including Konami's as well.

I hadn't heard about this. Gamestop.com does have Time Crisis 3 with dual guncons for pre-order (ETA 10/25/05) for $59.99: http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=281411

I suppose that a similar package may be made available for Vampire Night. But why would they make such a package for Crisis Zone?

A little OT, but anyone have any news on that Point Blank bundle they have in Japan making it stateside? Also, any recommendations on a good third party gun? I really want to be able to play the old Point Blanks along with Time Crisis, Vampire Night, etc.

i have tc3. Seems to work fine on my 61' rear projection tv. it's kind of bad when shooting in the corners though. from what i know TC3 two player play is a half size split screen and the size of the screen is tiny. Its immpossible to play on smaller televisions. Does anyone know if vampire nights is also the same?

I heard that Crisis Zone is a one player only game but you can use two guns at the same time.

I have Vampire Night and I enjoyed that more than the Time Crisis games. I'd go with Vampire Night if you choose them. As far as the cheap Ninja Assault, I didn't really play it, but it didn't get all that great of reviews (not like they matter much) and the copy I did pick up a few years back was defective and there weren't any more in stock so I got my money back.

No split screen. Vampire Night is like Ninja Assault and House of the Dead, both players use the same screen. Its made from some of the House of the Dead team and you can really feel the influence. Great game.

No, I actually have been holding off on getting a second gun because I read somewhere (Gamefaqs I believe) that TC3 didn't allow 2 player simultaneous with two guns, only TC2 does. I guess I'll just buy another and check it out.

And to add for someone looking for gun games: Ninja Assault sucks, especially if you're used to playing Time Crisis 3. Just because its only like $6 and from Namco too doesn't make it worth it.

Yeah, that's the thing about Ninja Assault. If it had anything special about it, it could be salvageable, but it doesn't. It's a strictly on-rails shooter with nothing special about it. The enemies are generic, there aren't any interesting powerups, there's really nothing in terms of story, and the voice acting is god awful (well, this can be expected of almost all light gun games, sadly). For $6 it may be worth the plunge if you REALLY have to own all of the light gun games for the PS2, but it's not really an enjoyable game.

What makes me sad is that there's no port of Virtua Cop 3 for the PS2 as of yet. I still prefer Time Crisis 3 and all (and I tend not to use the "bullet time", oddly enough), but it's a solid arcade light gun game and yet...nothing. What a shame.

Time Crisis: Crisis Zone has a LOT of unlockables, one of which is dual-gun mode, but getting it is TOUGH.

I've got Time Crisis 2 w/ 1 GunCon and I'm thinkin of expanding my collection to more of the PS2 GunCon games (dont care about PS1). Are these good prices for these items, or are they likely to be had cheaper in the Trading Forum or ebay or the likes? Also, is the official bundled namco gun the best, or are any 3rd party ones better (don't care about compatibility w/ ps1 guncon games). Thanks.

Man, I missed Ninja Assault.
I ordered the TC3 bundle used from EB a while back and whoever traded it in never even played it, all they did was open up the box. The game still had the seal and shrinkwrap on it and the guncon was still in the bag, I was so happy.

These are good prices for these items, at least after applying the EDGE, CAG, and Saver coupons. You can't beat the price on Ebay unless you get really lucky. And like someone else posted, they got the gun and game in new condition. When I ordered TC3 about 2 years ago from them, it looked like it hadn't even been touched, just opened. Totally worth it if you ask me. TC3 is the only one I've really played, so add that if you can there's a lot to unlock and its fun to replay and basically everyone I know who isn't even a gamer wants to play too. I'm thinking about adding Vampire Night next since that got good reviews and a lot of people here seem to like it.

For those of you interested in using Guncon 2 with S-video, you'll need this adapter: http://www.us.playstation.com/peripherals.aspx?id=SCPH-10130U

it's just a pass through box from sony, your Svideo cable connects either from the s-video out on this box, or the pass through port. Then you hook up the guncon2's video feed into the video on this box.

As for opinion on the games, I think TC3 is the most versatile. It has a lot of unlockables, and the "sniper" parts are an interesting change of pace from the usual action. TC2 is very solid, and very fun. Crisis Zone is difficult, and tiring...enemies take multiple hits to put down, but you also have a wider variety of weapons...it will test your arm stamina. Ninja Assault was somewhat of a let down, the weakest of all of the light gun games, IMO. Vampire Night was OK, but the all the guns have the same sound effects so the different weapons didn't really feel too different.

If you don't have any of them, I'd go for TC2 and TC3. Best of the bunch. After that I'd go with Crisis Zone (lots of replay, just difficult), then Vampire Night. If you get tired of those, then Ninja Assault.

Btw, the reason why the Guncon 2 isn't backwards compatible is because they're USB guns. Most 3rd party guns are standard controller port guns.

Some are there and some arent (they go in and out of stock based on pre played availibility). And the links arent working right now due to the server change last night (I'm assuming) .. so just copy the link and paste it into your address bar and it should work.
