I know, sophmoric humor. But it is pretty funny. It will be interesting to see if it can crack into the market at all with GBA, PSP, and DS dominating. Hopefully it won't go the way of the Tapwave Zodiac.

Once again most people dont realize that the Gizmondo is also a GPS. Most GPS will easily cost $600+, and if they can market it as a $200 GPS it will sell.

The only thing that concerns me is the way the D-pad is molded. Hopefully Gamestop or EB will have a display for people to try it out.

I don't care if it's also a toaster, this thing is going to bomb worse than the N-Gage.

I dunno. At least Gizmondo has a much more friendly screen ratio. They have a couple fairly prominent titles in development.

Also, this news is interesting...

Tiger announces a redesign of upcoming handheld before it's even released in North America.
If Nintendo's competitors fail to wrest control of the handheld gaming industry in the coming years, it won't be for lack of hardware offerings. With the American release of its Gizmondo handheld still in a "near future" holding pattern, Tiger Telematics today announced that it has completed development on the system's first redesign, the Gizmondo Widescreen.

The product of a multimillion-dollar research-and-development project, the new Gizmondo features a larger 4-inch display, "significantly" more memory, two analog joysticks, a video-out connection to hook it up to TVs, and a suite of new applications using Wi-Fi, BlueTooth 2, and tri-band GSM technology. The unit's processor has also been upgraded from 400MHz to 500MHz.

Tiger Telematics cofounder and chairman Carl Freer sought to sooth concerns some might have about introducing a new iteration of the handheld before the original had even launched in North America. "The convergence technology category is similar to that of cell phones where a one-size-fits-all approach does not work," Freer said in a statement. "Our long-term objective is to provide a range of entertainment and messaging devices that cater to different entertainment desires. Widescreen will favorably compare to Sony PSP but with even more power and features."

The Gizmondo Widescreen will be unveiled at January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Now, of course this doesn't mean much until the games are out, but just the fact that they had the intelligence to redesign the system with dual analog is a good sign. That is the main problem I have with the PSP.

Ooh, and it has video output. There are some nice features on this thing. I'll be sure to pick one of these up when it fails.

It will be tough for them, but I like what they are trying to do so far. To be honest something will hae to give. There are too many system out now IMO.

We have these that are still getting good third-party support...

Gamecube
PS2
Xbox
GBA
Nintendo DS
PSP

Plus Xbox 360 is right around the corner.

I can't recall a time when 6 sytems were out at once and they were all sucessful. I don't think the market can handle much more.

The Gizmondo, as much as I want it to succeed, I don't think its going to.

I am pretty sure the Gizmondo didn't sell all that well over in Europe either. So this could easily go the way of the Tapwave.

The thing I really like about this is the GPS, and it does have a couple of nice looking games. One being Colors, which is technically just GTA with a different name.
