Alrighty, I just received my Samsung replacement drive as my original Xbox Thomson is giving me dirty disc errors all over the place after playing a game about an hour or so. Should I just go ahead and pull the plug on the Thomson and throw in the Samsung or just wait for the bastard to die? :bomb:

Just switch it now. I swapped mine out this past spring, and I finally threw the thomson drive out the other day as I was cleaning up my apt. It still kinda worked with some games but there was just no real reason to keep it. Its not like if my Samsung died I would throw the thomson back in, I'd get another Samsung.
BTW: I got my Samsung off ebay, the pc version, but modded for use on Xbox, and It didn't exactly fit into my Xbox perfectly. I had to chop out some plastic from the inside of the case so it would fit. And I had to chop up the front of the cd tray so the xbox logo faceplate would fit back on there. It definitely wasnt as easy as the 15 minute swap that the ebay auction suggested.
