What are the differences between the two Champions games vs. the 2 Dark Alliance Games vs. the 2 PC Baldur's Gate games (worse graphics, etc.?)

Also, I'm playing co-op on champions of norrath 1 right now. Is there anyway I can continue the quest when the other person isn't around (and they can jump back in any time with all their equipment intact?) ;)

you can continue in the first champions game, without the other person, not sure about the second one.

PC and PS2 baldurs are nothing alike....PC is a true RPG where the PS2 one is like diablo, hack n slash.

So, the PC version is a lot more complex? Is it turn-based as well, like Knights of the Old Republic?

In champions of norrath 1, can you play on your own and then have someone join later on? In X-men Legends, I can just play single player or multiplayer whenever I want to.

.

KOTOR is made by Bioware, the same people who did Baldur's Gate. The game shares some similarities in it's battle system, but Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are more complex, gameplay and story wise. KOTOR isn't turn based, it's more all out action until you pause to give someone orders - same with PC Baldur's Gate.

Baldur's Gate 1 - 2 for the PC are huge massive games... easily 40 + hours worth of adventure, espically if you get the expansions. It's also fun to note the person you make in BG 1 can transfer over into BG 2.

Baldur's Gate for the consoles is a diablo clone, mostly hack and slash. First one is fun, but short, never played the second but heard it wasn't as good.

Champions of Norrath is another diablo clone... very fun game. I don't believe someone can jump in mid game, though. For some reason, I didn't like Champions: Return to Arms very much, though.

Cool, thanks Roufuss, that's kind of what i thought. It was somewhat like KOTOR, which is pretty sweet. ...

I found CoN slower than BG: DA. It was just too slow for me after enjoying the Dark Alliance.

I think the main advantage CoN has over BG is 4 player co-op. If you are playing with 2 or less, I think BG is the better choice though. I am only talking about the PS2 versions, haven't played them on PC.

so, i'm getting bored in the 2-player game, cuz sometimes my partner (family member) doesn't have time to play. However, later my partner still wants to jump in every now and then... any suggestions on how we can still do this? cuz, it is pretty fun when playing co-op. I guess no one knows...

KOTOR actually is strictly turn based, it just gives the impression of having action.

want a good RPG buy the PC version of console versions of the RPG. The last great RPG was the Final fantasy of the Super nintendo. where once choice could change everything.
Alot of PC RPG's are the same these days how few there are.
And champions isnt really a RPG in all reality its more of a RT strat type game.
not to mention why would you want a cheap Shinning force rip off?

just a suggestion!

If you want something closer to the baldur's gate on ps2, then buy neverwinter nights for pc.
Its a very good diabloish clone and you can have multiplayer whenever you like or solo whenever you like.
I personally didn't like CoN too much after playing the ps2 baldurs gate and pc neverwinter nights. It just didnt feel as polished.

You might want to consider X-men legends for co-op RPG hack and slash gameplay. In legends a player can jump in anytime he wants in mid game. Up to 4 player can play co-op.

I always played BG by myself and arranged times to play the CoN series online with a friend. Very fun games all around.

I played BG with my wife and we played through both of them and had a blast.

I was unaware that neverwinter nights allowed 2 players on the PC...

I bought it and have yet to even open it... so can someone confirm? I am guessing maybe online only?

Is it controlable with a controller then? Or is it two people at the keyboard?

players can join and leave anytime in CoN, when youre in a game just pause and go to import.

NWN is in no way a diablo "clone", just as KOTOR that followed it, its strickly a turn based affair following the 3.5ed D&D rules. KOTOR, NWN, and BG PC series all use D20 systems, but all the "turns" are processed realtime, giving more of an action feel. NWN allows mutliplayer but only online Snake, the game plays close to the BG or Icewind Dale than a hack and slash affair (it may seem like it if you go melee heavy though).

1. Thanks snotnose, I'm in a 2-player game right now. Can i just let my co-op partner die and import them later with all their equipment/xp points intact?

2. Does anyone else think baldur's gate i and ii for ps2 is a good game? better than champions of norrath? I'm thinking of buying it...

btw i forgot to mention i own x-men legends and itz pretty sweet...

Pick up the Baldur's Gate PC games. They are amazing. Easily among the best RPGs ever made.

My wife and I really enjoyed BG:DA 1 and 2 for the PS2. They do get a bit repetitive, but not enough for us to stop playing. There were both incredibly easy though. I haven't played CoN yet.
