Sendme,
I have the original PS3 TE stick unmodded and lightly used. I'd be up for selling it.
Other than that I don't think anybody is going to have them in stock. Most of the Gamestop's only stocked them briefly for the launch of SF IV. You might call around and see if one of them still has the MvC 2 stick in stock. Or you might try to call Microcenter as I've seen them there before.

target in the valley has some 9.98 PSP games, i saw need for speed shift and Jax, also grand turismo for 13.98. ii dont know anything about the game truth or lies for xbox but they have tons of them for 9.98
$10 for Jak and Daxter is a good price, I bought one of the last two in Fenton. GT on PSP is now $20 MSRP so $14 is not that great of a deal. Truth or Lies is EXTREMELY crappy and not worth $10.

Thanks but I would rather get new. I have seen the MvsC 2 stick at just about every GameStop I have went to but it has always been for the 360. Might check out Game Busters here in Granite over the weekend to see if they have one.

Fenton Gamestop still has like 7 DA 2 Signature Editions on 360, 1-3 on PS3, and the PC version is on the sales floor gutted. Other than the PC one you would have to specifically ask for them as they're in the drawers.

If anyone is interested I went by Best Buy over on Manchester at the Highlands I saw Nier for $13.99, and after I got mine there was still 4 left on those. They also had 3DS's in stock (at least 2 from what I saw) if someone needed one still.

Just picked up :360: Mortal Kombat w/ Kitana DLC at the Sunset Hills Toys 'R' Us for $40. The Michael Jackson Gamer Guide was next to the register and I had no problem using the coupon. I saw at least 5 more copies for 360, not sure what they still had for PS3.

The bonus cases for LA Noire from Walmart and Gamestop will be paper redemption codes included inside the game. Most stores will be doing a midnight release for LA Noire but that's the only game for the month. Next most likely midnight release will be for Duke Nukem in June.
The management at my store (Fenton) says nobody will reserve hardly anything except Gears 3 and Skyrim. They have 250 preorders for Gears 3 and 50 for Skyrim, then about 30-40 for LA Noire and Duke Nukem, then nothing else has more than 20 (led by Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3, and Batman: Arkham City.)

OK Velo or anyone else that has traded at Best Buy,
I want to get Infamous 2 and to do that I'm going to have to trade NFS: HP and NHL 11 on 360 at Best Buy. Out of these 3 BB's (South County Mall, Fenton, Manchester @ 141,) which ones are the easiest to do it at or am I even allowed to trade them at? NHL 11 was a Goozex pickup so I don't have a BB receipt for it (do have it for NFS if I can find it.)

Also found out in the BB thread if you go to the only STL midnight launch at South County, the first 16 360 and PS3 customers in line get the first DLC case for free. From the description, I assume it's a post-release pay one for everyone else.
Not all Gamestops will be doing a midnight, but most of the busy ones will. Post if you're going to Fenton, I'll see you there. :)

I pre-ordered my copy from Best Buy in Bridgeton, (only 5 minute drive) got the 500 rewards zone points for pre order and a free 15 dollar gift card. I noticed on the BB facebook rewards zone gamers page it says you get a 10 dollar GC when you pick it up also?
I won't be there at midnight due to working Tuesday but i wonder when I do go to get mine tuesday after work if they will give me another giftcard if I show them the facebook post?

Crestwood bestbuy has their trade in down cuz i go in every few days it seems. just go to customer service, then they will make you go to a geeksquad computer and takes bout 10 minutes for my 5 games. then just go to kindle section and grab some amazon cards, lol.

I was looking at the South County Best Buy for the midnight release, but I will just stick with the Manchester one at 141 since it is right down the street. Considering the DLC will be on sale shortly after, and don't even know how many people are going to try to show up at that one. Not worth the price of gas to worry about it, it will be cheaper online.

The Fallout DLC for Brink went for 25-30 on ebay, and that was DLC that you could probably still get if you're lucky to purchase one of the initial prints. On the other hand, this DLC appears to be much more limited (there's less than 50 in our state, for example). Manchester doesn't match GC and are just all around dbags so I have no problem driving a bit farther for better service.

Couple of random items:
1) The Borders at South County Mall had a number of TV season sets and BluRay movies marked with a piece of red tape on them. The TV season sets were in a dump bin by the front registers and the BluRays were in the BluRay section by the magazines. Any of the items with this red tape were 40% off scanned price, and Borders Rewards + members take the obvious 10% off additional on the purchase. I only had a chance for a quick look, though these red-taped BluRays took up most of the BluRay section.
2) Ronnie's 20 on South Lindbergh is going to be running anime in the theater in the fall. Supposedly joining their Facebook page will show the schedule.

I saw the Ronnie's Anime club ad when I went to Attack the Block this week. I'm kind of interested but I don't really know the crowd that will show up. I'm probably a bit older than the average Anime fan so we'll see how it goes. It'll depend a lot on what the end up playing, I suppose.
The Target on Chippewa and Hampton had 2 copies of MvC3 Special Edition on clearance for $ 34.99 for the Xbox360 when I went tonight. It has a Steel case, some the DLC characters and some comic thing included. I didn't pick one up but could be a good deal for those that are interested in collector's editions.

Not a VG deal but if you are looking for a bargain laptop Best Buy has this one and it isn't listed in the 2 day memorial sale and also wasn't on display at the Rock Rd store when I went in and they had a bunch of them. I bought one for my wife since hers was a couple years old and I am selling hers to a friend.
$349 laptop compares to most anything you will find on Black Friday with a dual core processor and a 320GB HD. screen is 14' and I thought that might be a deal breaker but actually we both seem to like the lighter weight and smaller screen.
Hope one of you CAG's are looking for a decent laptop.

For the Ronnie's anime thing, not sure what they'll have and I have no idea what the crowd would be like. The Tivoli used to run anime at random times back in the day, and it's nice to see some other theater try and do it. I also think they may be running Rocky Horror sometime in August, as there's some note they have in the theater about the time warp coming in August.
Kezmer, that seems like a reasonable enough laptop for anyone that wants something portable and decent enough to do things other than gaming. Radeon 4250 will take care of older games and lighter-weight graphical games with the detail turned down. The link you put up there errored out for me, though if you search for SKU 2592114 on the BB.com website, you'll find it.

Now, some stores will still have them in box, while others will have them out of the box (check the bottom/open it up to make sure you have the other arms and guns). I know the Creve Couer (New Ballas/Olive next to Subway & Five Guys Burger/Fries) has them OUT of the box. I picked up 1 that was still in box (but opened box, but still had the plastic and all packaging) at the Mid-Rivers Dr (next to Buffalo Wild Wings) location (I bought one, and there was still one in box there, they may/may not have more).

It's a clearance sale. BB has dropped the price to $50 to get it out of there. CheapyD posted it in the deals forum this morning. If you want Reach it's worth it as it's only $10 more than the standard version and you could sell that DLC code for about $20 on EBay.

This is the biggest game ever published by Deep Silver. Read their Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Silver#Deep_Silver
Wii games, PC games, and a couple of 360/PS3 games that don't have anywhere near the demand for this game. They did what any small publisher did, print to preorders plus a few ten thousand. Now when everyone sells out day 1 they have to go back to the presses.
From what I'm told by the Fenton management, most Gamestops should have the game in-stock now. But it seems WM, Target, BB, and KMart may still have issues since Fenton had multiple customers coming in that were striking out at other retailers yesterday.

Don't know if any CAG's are interested and it's last minute but there is a Free Madden 2011 Tournament at Crest Bowl In Florissant tonight at 9pm
address is 650 New Florissant Road 63031,
Take 270 to Florissant Rd and head towards Lindbergh and Crest will be on the right hand side maybe a mile down the road past St. Francois street.
I just got this off their facebook page and I will share the link, it says you may win a trip to the 2012 Pro Bowl.
I won't be playing because I suck at Madden but I will be bowling in the Thursday Night League(I'm not hard to pick out from my avatar lol) so I will stick around and see how it goes for a while at least. Hopefully it will be run better than MSUHitmans experience at Wal-Mart.

I played on a PC with mouse and keyboard and I really didn't enjoy it that much myself. Maybe it just wasn't my style but the game felt really underwhelming to me.

Do any of you have any experience with these "BAM!" stores that are going into some of the old borders locations? Apparently there is one in Mid Rivers and one in Chesterfield -- I saw the one in Mid Rivers last night, but it was like midnight at the time. Good prices? Deals? Trade in values?

Same company as the Vintage Stock stores in Kansas City, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Prices vary. Good prices on some stuff, overpriced on others. My experience has been that it is much better than Slackers though.
Haven't been to the ones that have opened in St. Louis, but the vintage stocks in KC always have something worth buying. Great store just to browse around at.

The only slackers I've ever been into is the one that moves around SoCo and, yeah, it's ... uh "gross" would be the best way to put it. I don't know if their prices are OK, but it looks like just some high school kids' bedroom. Totally disorganized and ... just unclean looking. These stores at least "look nice."

In regards to Books-A-Million, there's been one at the St. Louis Mills Mall for a number of years, though I've never been there yet.
I posted about the BAM in Chesterfield a few weeks back, so I guess they're converting a number of the Borders locations into BAM stores. Neither the Mid Rivers or Chesterfield locations are showing up on their store finder link on their website.

They are occasionally useful for finding rare/hard-to-find guides, though most of the time, you find more than a few penny guides from BB or GS ending up there, oddly enough.

Thing to look for, and this might be different in St. Louis. We don't have any stores in KC here called Bam! so not 100% sure if pricing is different than the Vintage Stocks in KC. People trade in s--t ton of disc only games. Well, vintage stock in KC will price them at 2.99 or 5.99 no matter what the game is. If you go in to a BAM store in the STL area ASK WHERE THE DISC ONLY GAMES ARE!!! I can't even explain to you how many steals I have gotten since they price them all the same. Disc only sports games $2.99. Disc only rare playstation games $2.99.
This does very a bit lately from store to store in the KC area. Sometimes they price the 360 or PS3 or Wii games $5.99.
Make sure you ask where the disc only games are. And sorry if the STL Bam! stores do not have the same pricing. Don't mean to pass on info that might not be true for the STL area but definitely worth asking because you will find steals if they price the disc only games the same way.

That could turn out to be pretty crazy, especially with various CE's or bundle packages with the "not for resale" stuff maybe being turned in without the case. Thanks for the heads up, I usually avoid disc-only games at GS (unless I'm looking for expensive coasters).

I know the two stores that were turned into BAM! stores were the Borders location inside of malls (St. Peters, Chesterfield) so maybe that is a mall only thing?
Last I saw the Brentwood store was still unused, the Creve Coeur store is as well (I drive by it every day), but they've only been closed for about a month now I think, so maybe BAM! will move into those ones as well after all...

Ok I hit the Mid Rivers BAM! last night. Not too shabby, a little bit of a step up from Slackers. Less of a Dreamcast/SegaCD/Saturn collection, but prices seemed a little more fair than what I recall from Slackers.
Pretty large section dedicated to games as compared to Slackers, didn't see too many vintage systems available for purchase if that is what you are after.
Found a couple of Game Gear games I wanted at prices I was willing to pay. Shockingly they had 3 TG16 games, and I never see that stuff in second hand stores. Also snagged the original solo JSRF for Xbox for $9.99, walked into Slackers right after that and saw they wanted like $23 for it.
Definitely worth checking the place out. Also if you like toys and action figures, there are some items in the upstairs portion of the store, a little mix of vintage 80s-90s and early 2000's. Of note up in that area were some Tiger Electronic handhelds, I almost bought a couple for nostalgia's sake.

FYI KMart is not stocking UMvC 3 and I'm not sure about BB, WM, and Target, although I suspect they will. Also Gamestop has the best preorder bonuses on both of those games. Gamestop gets more outfits for the female fighters in UMvC 3 and they are the only ones getting the special edition of AC: Revelations in the US, basically a bunch of extra digital content (soundtrack, characters, missions, etc.)

You should definately get it from wherever gives you the best deal, although with KMart out of the running, not sure if anyone else is going to do credit w/purchase on UMvC 3.

Fenton gets a lot of people who don't shop around online (or even have internet access) and its programmed into their brain, game = Gamestop. Also the clerks there have to ask if they have their console connected to the internet kinda to warn them about online passes and the like, but mainly because you wouldn't recommend the same games to people who don't have interent vs. ones that do.
Fenton is the 2nd highest volume GS on the MO side of the St. Louis area, about $2 M in volume. Highest is one of the stores in Florissant. There's a store on the IL side (not Scott Air Force Base but the next closest) that does double that but 60% of their business is handhelds, with the vast majority being in PSP.
And those MW3 numbers were told to me by the new manager. Every store manager in the company with over 700 preorders had to take part in a special conference call last week.

The last pre-orders I had in-store at a GS were God of War 3 (only did to get one of the pre-order character skins, and never picked up said pre-order) and Mass Effect 2 (to get a second CE as well as the GS exclusive pre-order items).
Everything else I've preordered has been on Amazon, save the rare exception of some GS exclusive worth getting (Assassin's Creed Revelations Signature Edition) or one I couldn't find anywhere else (Forza 4 CE, as I missed pre-ordering in on Amazon) and that's been on GS.com.

Plus, since it's in Fenton, it gets traffic from Arnold, Imperial, South County (Mehlville/Oakville) plus some other places. The GS stores in the SoCo mall are too many for the area, as there's three in the mall or right outside the mall (former EB, original GS in the mall and the former Funco -> EB -> GS outside the mall) and I bet they all scavenge each others' sales.
I'd have to guess at that IL store in question to be either O'Fallon IL or Fairview Heights IL that does that volume of business.
Florissant, there's not much out that way since the BB out that way disappeared, save maybe a Target or a Walmart.

Yeah I work right down the street from the Cross Keys Gamestop in Florissant. it is always slammed like crazy, I just go to the one at the Mills and their is no one there usually if I have to go to Gamestop.
There is a Target and the Wal-Mart is in Furgeson, although Wal-Mart wants to build one right across from Cross Keys, they want tax deferred money to build it and the City council refuses to give a tax deferment to the richest people in the world. They may still build it on their own.
There has been talk of a Best Buy across from the post office where I am at but one of the other stores going in bailed out and they are waiting for another anchor store to step in so It may never happen.
Jamestown Mall is a ghost town, but they have a lot of days with free popcorn at the movies!!!

that would be nice but it won't happen, Wal-Mart wants to be as close to K-Mart as possible so they can put them under at least in North County, that one on the Rock Road is right Next Door and the one proposed in Florissant coming up on the council meeting this Monday is Directly behind Lowes within a block of the K-Mart, I haven't seen the actual P & Z yet, (but I will after the meeting is aired) but I think it will knock down some or all of Cross Keys Apartments.
I read in my Hazelwood Newsletter that old Ford plant is going to be some sort of office building. I am not sure if anything happened with it but if you drive through that Industrial Park they built there is nothing there yet and its been a few years since they built it.

Shrike the IL store I mentioned is on an army base but it's not Scott. It's the next closest base. The Florissant store is the No. 1 in volume in St. Louis, with Fenton second. Fenton is losing ground though to the new stores built in Washington, Arnold, and especially Eureka. To give a scope of the madness, here's the video from the midnight MW3 launch at Fenton (500-800 people there) shot by the former store manager (some NSFW language during the wrestling promo contest) :

I will have to stop buy Saturday afternoon and see if they have them left. Now only question is do I get it on the 360 or PS3. Yes you get AC 1 on the disk (then have to install a 7 GB file to your PS3) on the PS3 version. You might want to stop by the AC thread on 360 to make sure, but I think I got a few extra MP avatars, emblems, etc. for having played Brotherhood as it gave me a welcome back message. They had a ton of 360 RDR for $19.98 and a couple 360 DJ Hero sets for $24.98. There were several 360 copies of Dragon Age II for $14.98. I can't remember now what else there was--quite a few assorted PS3 titles (including one R&C: Crack in Time for I think around $8), some DS and even some 3DS games. For anyone familiar with the store, they moved the clearance section--it's still on a back endcap, just a few aisles over.

The top part will slide off since I opened it to spray compressed air through it to clean it out.
Anyway I have a launch controller that goes with it and the PSU, I really only used it for a Blu-Ray player since it plays any ripped blu-ray dvd.
I does play PS1 and PS2 games with no problem last time I tried. I just thought before I sell it at work maybe a CAG would want a cheap PS3 PM me if you are interested I can take some pics and send them np

Anyway I have my Launch Unit if any of you St. Louis CAGs are wanting a cheap PS3, I'll take 100 for it, only issues I know of is the fan makes a louder noise when it's spinning a disk. not sure if it can be replaced but the system works fine.
I might go in on that.....

I don't know why the fan gets loud when it spins a disk? This could be it
http://ps3fannoise.blogspot.com/
I just want to give full disclosure what it does, my wife is annoyed at the noise when we are watching a movie. I rarely game on the PS3 but I like to have one just in case and It is the best blu-ray player I have found.
anyway let me know if you are interested, thanks.

BB on the Rock Road had a Black Friday PS3 Bundle sitting on the shelf, I asked if it was still 199 and he scanned it and it came up $249. still not a terrible price considering you get 2 games and 30 days of PS+. I bought 2 of the 199 and in the Christmas spirit instead of keeping one for me I kept my old launch PS3 and sold them for cost to parents who really wanted them. I almost just grabbed this one but I held off.
If you missed the BF deal and dont mind the 249 price tag, might hit a BB, guy said they "found some" (ie we didnt sell these for 199 so we could make 50 extra bucks on them later)

I am already sick of the Pujols talk after 1 day.... let the man go, if he wants the money so be it. I can't blame the guy one bit for taking the best contract he could get, plus in the piece of fucking shit AL he can limp out to home plate and DH for years and years like Big Papi... We already saw his best 11 years he will ever have and were lucky to witness that on a daily basis.
I can still remember standing in a bar watching him hit a ball to Waco Texas in game 6 of the NLCS and going crazy. mostly he was a play-off bust, had a unreal game in the World Series this year but stunk the other games. Lance Berkman made him look like a bum with how he played at 37 years old... wait maybe Berkman is actually younger than Pujols???

Nope. No deals on it and if you want ANYTHING digital about it (even just buying digital time card codes as a last minute gift on Christmas Day) then you HAVE to do it through the Origin store. Physical copies of the game are in-stock everywhere minus the Origin store.
Edit: I take that back. Amazon as of this post has 15 copies left from a seller called moviesmusicgames for $52 shipped.

Yeah that's it. It's the biggest volume store in the STL market and is the test program to see if others are going to go 24-hours also. If it's successful, Fenton is next (2nd biggest volume in STL.)
Anyone wanting to get a $20 copy of Rayman Origins at TRU need not go to SC TRU unless they want the Wii version. They were out of 360 when I got there and I bought the last PS3 copy. Supposedly Sunset Hills TRU had 6 copies on 360 left.

It was marked 59.99 and rang up 59.99 they had to have a manager come and override it and match the online price. I played a little last night, it's a fun platformer, I am not sure I would have paid more than 20 for it. It doesn't seem like a game I can sit and play for hours and hours but for 1 hours chunks it might be just perfect.

I've been living in South County by 255 & 55 for six years, so there's easy access to 270 & 55, plus not that far from IL, as well as not that far from 44. Very happy with the area and have pretty much everything I need nearby.
I know that might be a little far from the airport like O'Fallon, MO, though I've enjoyed being out this way.

Creve Coeur here and it's nicely parked between 270 and 170. Not far from 40 either. Plus Lindbergh is a straight shoot to 70 and 40 in either direction with a decent speed limit, which also takes you pretty much straight to the airport.

Chesterfield here and love it being close to just about everything. Excluding traffic most places take about 15-20 minutes to get anywhere (Airport, North County, South County, St, Charles, and Downtown). Almost any place to live is decent since everything is connected via highways. Pretty much each area has whatever you will need from B&M stores, food places, heck even Malls. Hopefully you find a nice spot!

Shrewsbury/Afton is where I'm at and it's pretty nice. Honestly the best part of this area is you are right next to the Metro which can get you to most places in Saint Louis and is the only reliable source of public transportation. It's fairly close to all the highways you mention too, you can hit 44 and get to the northbound highway, or head a bit further north and hit 55.

Ballwin is much closer to a lot of things than Pacific, and I'd certainly pick it over Pacific. A number of my co-workers have been living out that way for a while and they certainly enjoy living out there.
Only day-to-day issue with Ballwin is that traffic along Manchester to get to Highway 270 can be a pain sometimes during the peak travel times of the week. You're looking at being 10-15 minutes from Highway 270, though you're somewhat close to Highway 141, which will give you reasonably easy access to Highway 40 and 44.

South County is normally viewed as South of 44 along Highway 270, until you hit Illinois. I would say that Crestwood/Affton/Mehlville/Oakville/Fenton is South County, though Arnold is in Jefferson County but it usually lumped into the South County area.
I'd personally look into Fenton and Arnold for houses, as there's lots of new construction out that way for houses that large in the 4-5br size.
270 is horrible during the early morning rush (5-9) and the afternoon rush (4-7) but other than that it's fine barring any type of accident.I drive it five days a week and would say it's more 7AM - 9AM that's an issue than earlier, and 5PM - 6:30PM is more the issue than earlier in the afternoon rush. I've pretty much driven 270 northbound to work anytime from 2-3AM all the way to 10-11AM in the morning and it's pretty much good most of the time save the times I mention above.
The main clogs in traffic along 270 are from Gravois to Manchester northbound in the morning rush and 40 to Doughterry Ferry southbound in the afternoon rush. They're working to widen it with an additional lane in the next couple of years, so it should be less of a mess than it is currently. It's also been better than it was before they worked on Highway 40, when it was horribly bad prior to that timeframe.
Rest of the time, it's not been an issue.

Prices within STL county are going to be above 2k for a 4 or 5 br house. Most of the affluent 'burbs are in that area. If you are looking for a steal with houses I would suggest maybe looking over the river on the IL side. Places like Shrewsbury, Collinsville are closer to the base so they have lower prices on housing out there. You'll just want to make sure to check out the area before you commit because there are some really out of the way towns in that area too, and you'll want to avoid anything that gets too close to East Saint Louis.
The housing prices in that area are coming down right now, a lot of people in that area are out of a job due to the government layoffs on the base. It sucks for them but you might be able to get a deal out of it.
The downside if that you've got more of a 1/2 an hour drive to STL from that side rather than a 15-20 minute drive from the border towns on Saint Louis county. Also, traffic suuucks during rush hour, so coming into the city at around 7 in the morning is terrible and going out of the city at 4 - 5 PM is also equally bad.

I noticed in a earlier post you said Collinsville, Illinois was a choice you looked into. I just wanted to chime in and say that I currently live in Collinsville and it's a great little town. I worked in downtown St Louis for 9 years and it was only a 20 minute direct highway drive to the heart of downtown. I currently work in St Charles and it still is only 40 minutes to my job which isnt bad considering how far out it is. Plus housing usually tends to be cheaper on the Illinois side and you can get more for your money. I'm just the type of person who enjoys small town living while being close enough to the big city to gain all the perks that it has.
Although working in Missouri and living in Illinois gives your coworkers some room to crack jokes on you about it for some reason.
I just wanted to throw in my two cents and let you know that I love Illinois and give the area 2 thumbs up. Just try not to look in Cahokia, Belleville, or East St Louis. O'fallon and Collinsville are probably you best two closest options.

Figured I would let people know the Best Buy on Manchester near Costco has the Assassin's Creed 3 preorder steelbooks out. Just got back from there, but I would guess most places will have them gone really quick so just giving a heads up for anyone interested.
The Best Buy in Fairview Heights, Illinois also has them out. I preordered last night (Monday Night) and got one. They also have a good amount of Batman : Arkham City (10+ on each system) and Mass Effect 2 (5 or so on each system) and Bulletstorm (10+ on each system). I picked up the last copy of Rage in the store though which was hidden behind Resistance 3, and the lady at the trade in counter was extra salty about it because she was "looking for a copy all day". Oh well, guess she sucks at easter egg hunting.

From what I gather, there's some "Where'd you go to high school" thing that gets thrown into conversations in St Louis? That should be interesting... Not sure if it's a joke, or what.
We're narrowing down places based on crimereports and just general areas. Hoping to come out to the area in two weeks to look at about 12 houses or so.
I have skimmed through and didn't see where you will be working -- location wise. If you are not tied to a specific area for your house, you should think about basing it on where you will be working as there are nice areas all over the place in St. Louis, so you can have the best of both worlds and live in a nice area and also not have a bad commute.
I live in South County at 270 and 55 and it was amazing for driving into work downtown traffic wise, then my office moved to Clayton and now I sit in traffic for 45 minutes every morning, even though I'm driving basically the same distance.
Depending on how big your family is, I have a small rental property that will be opening up on April 1, but it is in South City. It's not a bad neighborhood, but if you are from like rural idaho, it would look like a demilitarized warzone to you (plus it's pretty much too small for anything other than a couple + 1 kid unless you want to be all piled on top of each other -- and since you said you have 2K/month to spend you are probably looking for something a lot nicer).
2K/month is a lot for St. Louis, by the way, unless you are wanting to live in a really posh neighborhood.

Oh, and I posted it in the GS thread, but when I stopped at the GS outside of south county mall last night they said they are doing the 50% trade in at that store and the one inside the mall. I forgot to ask how long it was going on, though.
And finally, I stopped at VStock last night at the mall to see what I could get for BAC and it was 8:31 and the guy said that they stop doing trade ins at 8:30. I looked at my watch and said "uh... it's 8:31 and I have one game" What a dumb store.

We both work out of the home, but she has to travel around to local clinics. Location wise, I am narrowing it down to Ballwin, Chesterfield, Fenton, Creve Coeur, Maplewood, O'Fallon, and a few potential places in IL. We're looking at 4-5 bedroom homes, around 2800-3500 square feet or so. I'm finding that 2k is about average for something that size. I've seen many more than that actually...
Can anyone comment on how the traffic is around Six Flags when the park is open?

Maybe im clueless since it has been about 5/6 years since I lived in Chesterfield, but, 4/5 bedroom house in Chesterfield for 2K a month seems low. House in Green Trails which was a 3 bedroom and around 2000 sq. ft. (really close to Green Trails elementary on Portico) was damn close to that price a month. Interest rates have obviously changed since then.

It is low. Anything we're finding for around 2k is either older, or further out west. The pickings are surprisingly slim for 2k around the area.

I work in Eureka, and the traffic around six flags is only bad at the end of the night when they close. Most of their traffic just gets off on 44 and goes straight into the park slowly throughout the day.
And you PM'd me about Soulard Market - the place is awesome and I go there most Saturday's during the summer. You can get some great deals and there really isn't anything else like it in the city. There are a few other smaller farmer's markets, but that one is the biggest and the best. Way better than going to the grocery store and you can always find something interesting there. They are open year-round, but the stuff in the summer a lot better and cheaper. And they have bloody mary's to boot.

All the GS stores in South County Mall are alternating 50% extra credit and B2G1F on used to compete with VStock. They've been doing that for a month now.

So here's a question for those that rent.
We're finding a lot of places, nice places, that have no refrigerators. Is this a midwest thing? I'm shocked that a house that runs 1800-2000 a month wouldn't have a refrigerator in it for the renter. Did your rental come with all appliances except a washer/dryer?

I had a friend that lived in that area, it's pretty nice. They actually got divorced and were having trouble selling the house, I wonder if you might even be renting their old house.

After VStock pulled the "it's 8:31 we stop trading at 8:30" business on me, I'm pretty sure they won't get any business from me unless it turns out that they are ridiculously awesome for some kind of TIV -- but since they also don't post their TIVs and don't give quotes over the phone, I'm not sure I'd ever screw with stopping in there anyway.
Thanks for the info on the SoCo GS -- I had not been in there in a while -- speaking of which, do you (or anyone) know the story about the dude that works at the one outside of the mall: the tall skinny guy with glasses. That dude seems to literally work there the entire time it is open. I've never gone in and he's not there. Go in at open, close, middle of the day, weekdays, weekends, whatever, he's there every. damn. day. all. freaking. day.

Most likely he's the store manager. GS store managers are required to work a minimum of 45 hours per week at the store. I know the store manager of the GS inside the mall (below the food court) as he was ASM at the one I go to for a few months before being transferred and then later promoted.

I was at South County Mall tonight and both the GS and EB Games INSIDE the mall had signs for 50% extra TIV on ALL games on their front window. I drove by the one outside by Bread Co. and it didn't have a sign so go inside the mall to trade your stuff.
Went inside V-Stock as well for the first time, impressive how much stuff they have there. I feel sorry for Bodach of Bodach's Games in Arnold as I'm sure that's hurt his business even that far away.

I assume he's talking about Crestwood mall. There is a lot of unusual stuff going on in that mall. I think it is going to officially die once that Sears closes (which I think I heard it is closing). But there is a game shop, seems like a bunch of anime shops, several dance schools, train hobby shops, seems like a bunch of kind of niche hobby shops just sort of took up residence in there. It's a cool idea, but I would guess it doesn't make a lot of money compared to "traditional" mall stores -- and that the owners only even agreed to rent to the niche stores in order to avoid an Excessive Vacancies clause in Sears' lease.

Its a shop where a guy who used to work at exhilerama years ago sells used arcade machines. Prices aren't bad I dont think. really depends on the game and shape. He had a Gauntlet Dark Legacy 4 player one but the CRT wasn't very good. a few juke boxes too. and lots of pinball games. Not sure if its better or worse than stuff on Craigslist but it is neat to see it all sitting there. He is really friendly and said he will deliver the machine to your house.

Assuming the list linked in this thread is correct, we're losing two of our Best Buy stores in the 50 being closed down:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319188
One of them is Ellisville, which isn't a shock due to location and due to age, plus the Manchester store at 141 & Manchester is much better, bigger and newer. The one that is a shock is the Chesterfield Valley store, which is a Magnolia Best Buy as well, so that one being closed down doesn't make any sense.

Only thing I can think of w/Chesterfield Valley is despite the awesome location, that store seemed to get far less business than other stores. The few times I was in that area, it was always easy to get sale/clearance/penny items than the BB stores in Fenton/SC.

Majority of the grocery stores will be Schnucks and Dierbergs. You will also find Shop & Save's and Aldi's, but those will be found a lot less around the area.
Also, pretty much each area has a Sam's, Costco, or both. They can be good if you want the bulk food. Most of the Walmarts and Targets also have food sections too.
Most people you talk to will prefer Schnucks to Dierbergs, mainly since Dierbergs is on the more pricey end. It all really comes down to location and what you will find near you. I usually look at the ad's and go where the better one will be that week. I have a Schnucks, Dierbergs, Costco, and Sams all about 5-8 minutes from me so I just pick the better deals.
shrike4242
04-12-2012, 11:35 AM
Some other options as well:
Whole Foods is also in the area, with the two main stores I know of being in Chesterfield and Brentwood.
Trader Joes is out in the area as well, with a number of stores in the area in Chesterfield, Creve Coeur and Brentwood.
For a more higher-end grocery option, there's Straubs Market, which is in Town and Country, the Central West End, Webster Groves and Clayton.
There are also some other random mom and pop grocery stores around the area, though the big ones are Schnucks and Dierbergs, followed by Shop & Save and Aldi's.
Personally, I tend to go to Schnucks and Dierbergs depending on what's in their ad fliers for the week, plus Costco and Sam's Club. Like RPGHope18, I also have a Costco, Sam's Club, Schnucks and Dierbergs plus Target and Walmart within 5-10 minutes of me, so there's numerous options for me. I've been impressed with the options that Target and Walmart carry for groceries now, though not all of the stores in the area have converted over to groceries, I think.
