Finally got a copy of the EB/GS coupons I posted about earlier.

It has 50% Extra Trade-In credit on all games, Extra $30 Trade-In credit on any game system, and 10% off any new game. Ends 8/31/08.

These are valid at the Eastgate Mall store and the Eastgate Square store (the one by the Super-Walmart). They were handing them out.

Had a funny experience at the Taylor Square Gamestop in Reynoldsburg a couple weeks back during the B1G1 Xbox sale. I was getting an EDGE card (hadn't had one in a while) and they had one of the PSone/LCD combos with a $29.99 tag on it. I asked if the EDGE would work on that and was informed that it was brand new.

Needless to say it's mine now and it was their last, but you might want to ask around next time you're in...some other locations in c-bus might still have some.

Oh, very. I'm surprised by how many of us exist on this website, haha. Akron/Barberton, Ohio CAG newbie here. Ugh, I should have posted my original list of Cuyahoga Falls GS available games during Game Sale here. My bad. Anyway if anyone is in the Montrose area and in dire need of a PSP 2200 mAh battery the TRU has them in stock. Of course the deal for $10 is long gone, but $18 isn't too shabby for a great battery.

You're from Toledo, so you're close enough that Michigan sympathizing is merely a misdemeanor and not punishable by death like it is elsewhere in the state. We understand that you can't help it. :-P

Whereabouts in Toledo? My wife went to grad school there and just moved back. She lived in/near Holland by the University.

Nothing recently that is local. I was going to check out micro center for there half off used deal, but it sounded like shipwreck already cleared it out.:)

But, no nothing too great as of late.

We should have a local cag get together in Cincinnati. Either at Dave and Busters or Gameworks. D&B would work better for Dayton and Columbus Cags since its on the northside of cincy. Would be nice to trade games and have a meet and greet. Maybe even ship and ms. ship can come and get some feedback or record (probably would be terrible sound quality).

Make a post to let me know if your interested.

Any good trade deals, JDN169?

Right now we're running trade in two 360/wii/PS3 games for an extra $10 store credit. This includes pretty much any game (sans the burger king ones), even old sports titles. They must have their original cases and instructions though.

We're also doing Buy one get one on DVD's (no box sets or Blu Rays though).

And yesterday we had some neat PS1 trade ins including: a MINT GH FF7, an incomplete Suikoden 2, FF8, FF9, and Breath of Fire IV. We price in-line with ebay though so be warned.

It's a shame that the store closed. It was a neat place to go that sold import, domestic games and other game and anime related items such as figures. I mean I can see WHY it might have been closed. Their prices for new and used stuff was a bit high....but still its a shame that its gone.

They must have updated the site recently, because when I asked the thread, they didnt have info up about the store closing and when i called the number in the phone book, it was redirected to a private line. Than ks for the info, guys.

Correct. I've had the displeasure of living here for the past several years and during that time period I honestly can't recall a moment where I didn't regret it. The campus is straight and fairly safe for the most part though with a rare cutie here or there (most of them Canton, Cuyahoga or Fairlawn bred). So long as you mind your own business you won't have much to worry about in other parts of the city. They're only half as dangerous as people say if you actually live there and pop off at the mouth.

Really? The last time I was in that pawn shop they had little to nothing good. I was there about a year ago looking at their used guitars and when I glanced at the games, it was all junk.

I used to go there many years ago and buy NES games for a buck a piece though.

By the way, I'm still convinced the Kmart in this town is the worst I've ever been to.

If that's with box, untorn eyeshade, unbroken stand, AC Adapter, and battery pack, that's a good deal.

There's a new-ish place around the corner from the old CD Connection store by the Dayton Mall called Disc Exchange. Their prices are alright and they have a decent selection, including lots of accessories and older consoles.

FWIW the Half Price Books by the Dayton Mall is moving to Beavercreek this September. Awesome for me as that means it'll be a lot closer.

Any idea exactly where in Beavercreek?

I need to update my Dayton shopping thread. There's been at least half a dozen places that have closed and a few that have opened in the last year or so.

If anyone from Toledo reads this... have you checked out "Replay Games" on Alexis? It is on the whitmer side, at that small complex with H&R Block.

They have a site-

That's actually a decent store to score older stuff. I picked up an NES, 2 controllers, and a NES Advantage all for under $7. I guess people bring their stuff into Gamestop expecting to cash out, find that they don't accept older games, and dump their stuff next door.

I went to Replay today (Toledo area), just to follow up on my last posts.

Great place, lots of inventory. Quality of products varies, but they are used products so you have to fish through. There were multiple copies of a game, but some would be great others not so much. Great prices too, imo. I was looking at their N64 games and most were hovering around the $3 area for a cart. They have lots of boxed games. They even had a sealed (well, could be re-sealed) NES game (it was Anticipation, dont get too hyped).

They have the "shining grail" shelf filled with the "Rare" items. I rolled my eyes at the $40 Nocturne guide. Maybe I'm not up to speed on that but I'm sure you can get that cheaper... w/e though.

I chatted with the owners, and they were busy running around trying to get ideas for their commercial. I chimed in and said "don't do it like VGU... please". They also gave me a punch card, for every $5 you spend you get a punch. When you fill it, you get $5 off your next purchase. This sounds good but there are a lot of punches to fill before you get the discount... they should up the discount, or lower the punches.

They said they've been around for at least the past 2 years... I said I had never heard of them. I asked if they would do a system like special orders, where they could call you if they ever came across a certain game, which they said they were going to, it just wasnt set up yet.

Overall, a pretty decent place and alternative to Allied Jacked Up Price Record Exchange. IF you are in the area, definitely check them out.

Here is their website-

Anybody know of any stores like Target or whatever that actually go and do the clearances in Canton?

I swear the ones I've gone to haven't had them. One blockbuster for sure, Sears I didn't think did but I never got a price check because I'm kind of scared for some reason of saying "oh no, sorry thought it was going to be cheaper or something." then walking away when the price is on it.

Also, would anybody be interested in me making a new thread for Ohio CAG's? With some good info from others I could post a list for each city of the places that do go on Sale etc.

I've been meaning to check out this store for quite a while, but there's no sense in doing that when I'm the big broke-ass I am. Shelby is kind of a pain-in-the-ass drive, though. I should also just beg you for a job while I'm there, that solves all of my problems.

If anyone else is around here, the Goodwill in Ontario has a pretty huge pile of sealed PC games for $5 each. They all have Best Buy stickers on them, I don't know why they would have them, but you can score Oblivion and Shivering Isles for $10.

Anyway, I've unfortunately resorted to selling off my DVDs and what little games I have as of late. I went to Buybacks twice, and got a pretty decent deal once and completely hosed the next. I don't have anything else I'm willing to sell, so I guess the two trips balance each other out. I felt like I couldn't say no the second time, because the girl spent a good 20 minutes scanning everything and, quite frankly, I'm a sucker for a cute girl in a nerd store. I really wish they'd have given me a receipt with everything on it, the first time I went out there I ended up with $50 even on a total of 17 bargain-bin DVDs and Xbox games Gamestop won't take. I guess like every other store out there, it's hit-or-miss, both on their prices and TIVs. I wanted a copy of Casino on DVD but it was $7 where the rest of the DVDs are $3, and in this day-and-age it's pretty hard for me to pay for a DVD. I guess it's fair that it's twice as much since it's twice as long, I just didn't have that much to spare.

The first thing I noticed having not been there since before Christmas was that the console case was PICKED CLEAN. The NESes, SNESes, 64s, and PSXs were all gone, as were the all the current-gen systems, all that's left are PSPs and PS2s. I was looking for a SNES so that bummed me out, they had at least 7 of them. I didn't know there were so many people who wanted a Super Nintendo for Christmas.

I kind of resent the place a little because I applied for a job there when they first opened and the guy only hired hot girls, but it's either them or FYE. So, it's them.

chimpster1313
01-12-2010, 09:44 PM
if anyone lives in or around canton, the fye in the belden village mall is closing and everything is basically 50% off. i was just in there today and got mirror's edge, earth defense 2017, blue dragon, halo 3 (LE), and gta 4 for a little less than $50. the 360 games and a lot of other things are really picked over, but if you live within driving distance, there were some hidden gems (as well as some bonkers prices like tony hawk project 8 for $30 AFTER the 50% off). damn msrp.

I'm here from Canton, right between Canton Center and the Strip. I go to college in Akron, and semi-frequently drive out to the Salem/Lisbon area so I have a pretty solid 30mi radius.

The Target out by Beldin(Mallet, whatever)/Strip had some great clearances this past fall, but I actually had even better luck with the one on Tuscarawas/Lincoln Way down in that pit or whatever you want to call it. The Blockbuster by that Target is decent, but the Blockbuster that was down Tusc. towards Aultman Hospital/Canton Center/on the way to downtown was the best in Canton till they closed down.

The Sears at Beldin does do clearances, although they are definitely a pain to check. I grabbed an Eye of Judgement pack there for ~$7, and a friend got Ghostbusters PS3 on a PM from the GC ad for $12 ($15 - .1 * $30). From time to time they actually dump all of their clearances into a bin up in the gaming area that is either back by the wall with xbox memory cards/silicon skins/etc hanging on it, or right up against the registers in the gaming area. I've been pretty hesitant myself as well to hunt down an employee in order to have the cases opened and have random items checked, lol. Unless I REALLY want something I probably won't bother going through all of that for one of their sales. I mainly just check them when I am out about the mall already.

There is a hollywood video that used to have a GameCrazy attached out on Cleveland Ave. that before GC closed was great, but I haven't checked them out since. There is also a Blockbuster within 2 minutes of it so the next time I see a great sale there I will probably check back over to see if that Hollywood is doing gaming things now for themselves.

I can confirm that the Best Buy here in Canton DOES NOT have clearances (I asked a manager that I had been joking around with for a bit when taking in my fiance's laptop).

I have also found a few jewels, although not lately, at The Exchange out by the mall. It is under the Beldin glass tower, in that little plaza with Starbucks/Robecks. They have reasonable prices normally, but not amazing good ones. The BuyBacks out there has been a complete dry spot for me, and they have never even been close to reasonable on either their pricing or TIV in my experience.

I was just in Buybacks trying to make money and I noticed a copy of Amped for Xbox at the low, low price of $67.99, and Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions for PSX for $72.99. So if you've got a copy of either of those, I guess dump them. Although, I was told they pay no more than a dollar for old games, so I'm wondering if they gave someone a dollar for MGS and then marked it up to $73. I'd like to see that guy's reaction.

New CAG here, I live in southern Ohio near Portsmouth, however work alot in CBUS, my wife is from Mentor/Cleveland, so go up there alot to0. Former Otterbein grad aswell I have noticed a few of you on here.

Side note, Have any of you heard of the Grandview weekend outlets? They seem to mostly in southern Ohio, with one as far north as Circleville in the old Walmart building. They usaully pop in old Kroger or department store buildings. Apparently when items do not sell at Target they send them to a warehouse and sell palettes of old merchandise at auctions. These Grandview stores buys these items and turn around and sell them at their outlets, usually pretty cheap. I have found opened copies of COD MW2 for 14.99, PS3 Memory card adapters for 6.99-which were flipped on Amazon for 30 a piece, Various strategy guides for 2.99 and etc. Basically they go down to the Target auctions during the week and buy a whole bunch of palletts bring them back, throw the junk on the shelves ( I mean throw too!) and open on friday, sat and sun. When they open on Friday at 10 it is like shopping market sweep with a bunch of old ladies with carts trying to buy depends and crackers. Luckily for us, most do not go to buy games so you do not have to go right when they first open to get the best deals on games and electronics. They seem to have no pricing strategy as prices vary store to store. For example COW MW2 was 10 at some and 25 at others, I guess it depends on the knowledge of the associate at time they price it. I found many great Amazon flips in these stores, not just in video games as they carry everything that a Target carries. I have even found a coleman camping tent for 15 bucks that sells online for over 200!
*****Word of caution- alot of stuff is opened box returns so be sure to make sure it is complete or works-they let you plug in stuff to test as cash back returns are not an option.
The best part is sometimes you can even haggle the price with them!

I'm from Northeast Ohio, specifically Wooster. We have a Gamecrazy, which is attached to a Hollywood video. Both are doing 20-30% off all game liquidation deal. I'm hoping that things get cheaper as the deadline gets closer, as bad as that makes me feel to hope for. The Gamecrazy here was always a great alternative to Gamestop, which makes me sad to see it go.

Thanks for posting this. That one and the one from New Philly are both closing, and I am also kinda waiting for the next level (40-50%) at both stores. If you see it hit 40-50%, can you send me a PM?

Rocko34's post clued me into the Grandview place.

It's kind of like a ghetto Big Lots. Lots of random overstock and returns from other stores. Make sure you check the expiration dates if you buy food. I bought some boxes of mini chocolate bars for a quarter each only to discover they expired four years ago! Seems like it would be a good place to stop by every week of two.

Here's the link to their website with locations:

http://grandviewoutlets.com/

Also anyone looking for universal TV remotes should check meijers. I bought a Harmony 610 remote for $40 at the one in Beavercreek, i didn't see any more.

Not sure if anyone is from the Blacklick/Reynoldsburg/Gahanna area but I went into a little shop called Ultimate Video Game Connection off East Broad and was pretty impressed with their prices.

Picked up Mirror's Edge for PS3 for 7.99 and noticed a fair amount of other games similarly priced. Didn't check out their 360 selection but would imagine the pricing is similar.

Just moved from Cleveland to Columbus. Moving makes you realize how much stuff you've accumulated over the years. That being said I have a few games and controllers that are just sitting in a box (ps2 and original xbox stuff).

Is it appropriate to post a list in this forum of the stuff I want to get rid of? I only ask because I was going to put everything on Craigslist but thought a CAG might want first crack at it.

I like Buybacks because they're generally cheap but they have the occasional game/movie that's ludicrously expensive for no apparent reason.

This, it's incredibly hit or miss. The other day I found a Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Collector's Edition for $22 after I had just paid $17.99 for the standard edition at Gamestop. Not only that, Gamestop switched the copy I picked out with some beat-ass copy they had hidden behind the desk. But, I split the difference by picking up a Red Alert 3 for $6.99. Meanwhile, there's a VHS copy of Return of the Living Dead for $56.99.

One thing about them, though, is their standards are so high that I almost never trade there but I also never worry about buying from them, not only the discs but the cases as well. That's something I hugely appreciate, especially with Gamestop's new case-switching tactic.

But, alas, I still can't get over charging $45 for a barebones SNES, even if they're the only SNES in town.

radjago
07-01-2010, 11:34 PM
I can think of 3 or 4 other places you can get SNES stuff around town, although all of them are charging something similar. Seeing as they go for about $40 shipped on ebay, craigslist, and other online stores, it's not so bad.

They are a cross of a mom and pop store and a gamestop. They are a franchise, so the owner and staff are flexible in what they can do versus a corporate Gamestop. They have over all comparable prices to Gamestop, usually a few bucks cheaper and they also have a discount card like Gamestop. They do have the best sales! Earlier in the year they had a spring sale and it was amazing, they had many brand new 360 and ps3 games for 50% off, I got the TEKKEN 6 limited edition bundle that comes with the fighting stick for like $40 brand new, and this was in early 2010, crazy. The Blockbuster on Airway rd in East Dayton is closing in a couple days. Used DVD's were $3.99 each when i was in there last. Blu-Rays were still overpriced.

Cashlands in East Dayton are giving $5 cash for ANY 360, PS3, and Wii games as well as Blu-Rays. They are also giving $2 for PS2 games and $1 for DVD's.

The Game Haven is doing DVD price drops (finally). We're going down the alphabet and have A's and B's done. Prices now range from .99 to 9.99 with a fair amount on the cheaper end. We're not discontinuing the Buy one get one free sale until price drops are finished. This means that there are plenty of .99 and 2.99 movies that are BOGO to boot.

Hey there, unfortunately not today. I don't work weekends at the store really. My boyfriend's younger brother will be working, I will give him the heads up about any sort of a discount :) If you see anything you think is too high and you are interested in it, just ask too.

As for the store, we opened a bit under a year ago. We didn't choose the greatest spot, but it isn't horrible either (located down E Broad directly next to the Target in Reynoldsburg). our address is

8112 E Broad St
Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 (if using GPS, it may claim Columbus, zoning is really weird in that area)

Phone number is 614-501-3095

We have new releases every week at $55 and always try to give top dollar in trade (I know there are better deals to be found on new releases with some work, but I just can't compete with the big box stores on those deals sadly, I basically sell at cost to get them out to the consumer).

Thanks!

Cashlands in East Dayton are giving $5 cash for ANY 360, PS3, and Wii games as well as Blu-Rays. They are also giving $2 for PS2 games and $1 for DVD's

Where is this Cashlands and is there a limit on this promotion?

1. Today's Groupon for Dayton is half off gaming time at the Chaos Room in Centerville. Has anyone been there.

2. I just heard there's a fire in the Page Manor shopping center. Any word on the Game Haven?

The Game Haven dodged a bullet and is already re-open, if a bit smoky smelling.

Blockbuster in Springboro, OH is closing (South of Dayton).

Haven't been in, but I'm sure that they have some discounts.

The one on sawmill? The one at perimeter is closing too. I may want to stop in tomorrow since I'm on break from OSU.

Correct, I'm not sure about the one near Bethel Rd. Oh man they are dropping like flies around here. :(

The one off Powell Road not far from the Columbus Zoo doesn't even have a sign anymore.

That one has been dead for years. Even when they were open they never had anything decent there.

Yes, that is very true, the location was not convenient at all.

Been a bit since it happened, but Ultimate Video Game Connection now has two locations. We purchased Capital Games in Gahanna, OH. Sign/ name hasn't changed yet, but will be soon.

Work in progress (changing things completely), but check it out if you get a chance.

As always, we give the best trade in town and try to keep our selection right at the top of the list as well as prices.

Will be hosting some game tournaments there in the future, any recommendation on what to do first? I was thinking something to do with Mortal Kombat and have it around the launch of the upcoming MK.

Thanks, hope to see you there :)

I live in Clermont county, just East of Cincy. I have a Japanese Neon Genesis Evangelion 5 pachinko machine I am wanting to sell. Its too bulky to put on Ebay and I would rather have a fellow CAGer enjoy it than some Craigslist reseller. It is the modern machine with the nice sized LED screen as the background and has a robotic Eva that opens its mouth and screams when you get into the win mode. BEAUTIFUL and awesome machine. Also have about 6-700 pachinko balls that come with it. Would like to get $400 for it. If interested, PM me. Thanks!

I live in Chardon, OH (30 miles east of Cleveland in Geauga County) but I go to school at Otterbein University in Westerville, OH (north-side of Columbus).

I like to frequent the only two Play-N-Trade stores in the state, which are located both where I live and where I go to school (Willoughby and Dublin). They have great selections of classic games.
