I saw this movie yesterday and I was kinda impressed. At the end of the movie, I was thinking, "You know what, I bet the damn critics gave this movie a bad score." It turns out they did, or at least says a couple of my friends. I figured they would since they do for a lot of action movies, but I enjoyed. I thought the movie was original all for one part. When he was on the wagon and he jump off towards the horses, then in bullet-time, turns in around in mid-air and takes two shots at the wherewolf (I don't know how to spell that). Besides that, I liked the movie, especially the end fight with Dracula. I also really enjoyed the reference to Dr. Hyde. Has anyone else seen this movie yet? What did you think of it? I could definitely be wrong, because movie-wise, I'm VERY easy to please. Example: I thought Revolutions was an enjoyable movie.

I was forced to see it yesterday for Mother's Day and to be frankly honest I thought it was the biggest pile of garbage I've viewed in qutie some time. The plot is nonsensicle, things don't play out, plot twists don't make sense, and some of it is just plain stupid. The chick was pretty hot, but even she couldn't save the movie. Me and my brother were laughing at the end of the account "its so bad its funny". To sum Van Helsing up in one word:

Cheesy

Yea I saw that movie too on Saturday. I thought it was a pretty good movie. The storyline is by no means groundbreaking but it is okay. Kate Beckinsale is smokin in that movie!! I didn't even know it was her until the credits rolled. Dracula's hos were pretty hot too. The movie kinda reminded me of Underworld because of the Dracula/werewolf fighting against each other. Maybe she will do more of these movies in the future?

24 percent means that 3/4ths of critics hated the movie

i have learned to never trust critics. 9 times out of 10 i like a movie they hated (matrix 2 and 3, punisher, underworld, kung pow etc.)

both matrix films were decent and only get trashed due to the hype being too high

the puninsher was only good if you did not take it seriousily at all (kind of like a Steven Seagal movie)

Yeah, the werewolf against vampire fighting made me think of Underworld, even though I haven't seen it yet. Maybe that tactic is an actual reference from some old book from the medievil times, since two movies happen to use the idea. Or maybe the director of Van Helsing "borrowed" a few ideas...

Why'd they call this movie Van Helsing anyway? They should have named it Devil May Cry,The Movie.

When I fist saw the preview for Van Helsing I thought it looked like the plot of every Castlevania game I have ever played.

Damnit, mixing Mr. Hyde and the Werewolf in the same movie? And having them fight Van Helsing, the guy who killed Dracula in the book? No no no no no. It won't do, and it didn't do for me. Van Helsing was a badass, I'll give you that, but the whole movie was just "Blegh".

Yeah, no shit. I'm sure the director was playing Devil May Cry when he came up with the movie thinking, "Dude, I'm gonna rip this game off so bad." [heavy, heavy sarcasm]

Well, I figured if they actually named it after a videogame, then it would have an excuse for sucking.

I liked it. gonna buy the animated prequel for 9.99 at CC...today. The dialog/story sucked..but it was still fun. even the "SIMBA" part. this movie was just stupid, brainless fun. and i like wolfman. reminded me of robin williams. j/k

Did you even read the book? Van Helsing does NOT kill Dracula.

That idea ws big in White Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade and Werewolf: The Apocolypse games. White Wolf sued the makers of Underworld for ripping them off, but I don't know if the lawsuit's been resolved yet.

I actually havent seen the movie but was turned off due to the reviews. The only time I have disagreed with reviews on Rotten Tomatoes was bad boys 2. They gave it pure crap reviews due to the dead bodies and I myself liked it. I didnt care much for the first Bad Boys, but 2 was good in my opinion.

I rented Underworld not expecting much at all but that was the first time the Werewolf vs Vampire concept was introduced to me and I liked the movie it had its bad parts but overall I liked it.

So maybe I will like Van Hesling.

first you saw kate beckinsdale in 03's super action flick, "Underworld," where vampires and werewolves fought viciously...
then kate brought you 04's summer smash hit"van hellsing," where vampires and werewolves dueled to the death...
coming in 2005, kate beckinsdale as you've never seen her before, in, "VAMPIRES VS WEREWOLVES!"
::DUM DUMM DUMMMM!!!!::

Yeah, didn't care for Van Helsing at all. The CGI was crizzappy. It looked like the characters floated around too much. The only characters I liked were Frankenstein and Igor.

And how dumb do you have to be to not know what the "Instant Sunshine" thingy would be used for?

It's too long and it's a mess. The only redeemable parts were Kate Beckinsale and Dracula's brides for eye candy.

the movie is "supposed" to pay trubute to the old Universal horror films. One of Drac's brides is supermodel Josie Maran *cloud9*

as for killing Drac? those props go to Quincy & his bowie knife

I remember one of the reviews I read called the flying vampire girls 'demonic barbie dolls'. heh
