I just got back from running some arrands. I saw at TRU that they had several Gunstar Super Heroes and FFIV Advance. Just though I'd mention incase anyone is looking for either.

The Target on Maplecrest still has 3 copies of Odama. Those should have been pulled like a month ago, but were saved by the plain white label with a marked price of $34.98. It doesn't come up in the system, but I've had a person use a hand scanner on it to get a price of $12.48.

Anyone been able to find a Wii in the Indy area recently? Not a single system anywhere I go. I lucked out a few days after launch walking into a Target as I was buying shampoo. I have seen quite a few PS3s around town though.

Yeah, I don't go out shopping much, and even I've seen PS3's on shelves. I saw several at the Target on East Washington just a couple hours ago. No Wii's in sight, though.

Has anyone seen any of these at any of the local EB's around Fort Wayne? I'd prefer a GC one, but would take a PS2 version. I don't feel like traveling all over down if there are none out there.

Finally found a Wii today at the Crawfordsville Rd Indianapolis Gamestop. Apparently they had two when I was there. The employees looked ticked when I refused to buy the extended warranty or pre-order Wii Play (the store was 20 miles from home, otherwise I would have done it).

I also found a $50 bill on the ground, but gave it to the manager. He'll probably keep it, but it'll be on his conscience rather than mine.

I don't know if any of you are looking for Wii in Evansville, but the EB games in town have been getting about three units per week. I got one at launch, but my friend took the last one at the east side EB today. He also scored a retunred DS lite at Target today. What are the odds?

I picked up the TH Project 8 with Deck on clearence at the Southport Target (Southport/Emerson). It was $44.98 and they only had two ( one left) for PS2. I then just took the game and returned it with the receipt for the copy I had bought my brother-in-law for Xmas.

Sorry, the best I have is a 9800Pro and I'm using it. I've been hoping to see some kind of deal on a AGP card for under $150 and be better than what I have. I might just end up waiting for when I build my next computer.

I also found out that the EB on Maysville Rd has sent all their PSX/N64 stuff away.

I had a 9600xt before this, it probably performed similar to your 9800pro.
I moved up to a 6800xt which is the light version of the 6800 core. Now that I rebuilt my machine on dual cores, I'd like to get onto one of the high performance Geforce 6 series.

I mainly have games and such to trade right now, and a $50 bb gift card.
That's it. That's why I'm looking for a used one.

Figured there might be someone with a 6800 Ultra or Pro or a 6600GT who was upgrading to a 7X series, or moving to a PCI-e motherboard.

I read in the new PSM that PS3s are still very hard to find. I think they're just trying to keep the hype going because I see several of them everywhere I go. I think the gas stations around here may even have them
Speaking of the new PSM (March 2007), it's the worst issue I've ever seen. I guess they're slacking off now that OPM is gone. We got about a dozen (more) pages on Resistance after is was already discussed in the Jan. issue, a few pages about Metal Gear (which is way down the road and irrelevant), and a page about GTA. There are 10 pages of reviews with 6 of those dedicated to Rogue Galaxy. Most games got an 1/8 of the page afterthought mention. A 90 page magazine with 10 pages of reviews? That's trash.

I don't see them everywhere, but I do see them very often. Store like Blockbuster and K-Mart rarely have them, and they sell out at Meijer and Wal-Mart as fast as they come in stock. However, you can walk into just about any Target and find several in the case, probably because Target has a lot less foot traffic than Wal-Mart or Meijer.

One of my old managers at EB told me that 60GB PS3's were coming in every few shipments, usually 2 at a time, usually 2 - 4 a month.
He said they usually ended up sitting there for 2 days or so before they sold.

Circuit City store 3729 in Muncie, IN is officially CLOSED. Look for closeout sales to begin within the next three days. Indianapolis guys, it might be worth the trip to Muncie. From what I hear, they sell everything way below cost to get rid of it.

Good, I really didn't want to drive down to Indy again so soon anyway. Thanks for the info.

It would be a wasted trip anyway if you're looking for games. I wiped them out of any good clearance games months ago and the last couple times I went back, they hadn't restocked anything. The console game section has been reduced to about one aisle and if they're still even ordering new games, it's in very small amounts. I'd say this store is pretty dead for video game clearance deals from now on, even if they aren't closing.

If you're just looking for deals on electronics, they do have those on occasion. The same time I picked up the clearance games (around Christmas), I got a portable DVD player with LCD screen for around $30.

The only reason I ever stop in this store is when I'm already in the area because of a sale at TRU or Half Price Books. I've been very disappointed on my last few trips.

Since I live in Valpo, I might take a trip over just to check it out. Then again, that all depends if:

A) I can find the power to wake up early enough.
B) I still have money.
C) Work doesn't call me in early.

If all three are true, I might as well head on up to see what the deal is.

Well I went to the Indoor Garage Sale thing and let me tell you, you didn't miss much. The place was so poorly organized and crowded that nobody was able to move. People were bitching and moaning about everything and the lines to get in the place were up to 1 hr, they just couldn't pack anybody else in the building. That being said, I didn't come away empty handed: Got a Virtual boy w/3 games for $30, Mario Party 5 & Super Smash Bros Melee for $10 each, Parasite Eve II for $3, 3 more gamecube games (Luigi, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Wrestlemania XiX) for $10, and a bunch of CDs and DVDs for $1 each.

Oh yeah, if there are any Star Trek Enterprise fans looking at this, there was one vendor who has the complete series for $125, I would have bit, but I already have them.

still though i wonder why they would sell them for 125 when they could very easy get 200+ on ebay.

did you pay 10 each for those gamecube games (or 3 each) for the yu gi oh. Few years back someplace was selling that yugioh new for 1.99

The GameRush at County Line Road and US 31 had a copy of Saint's Row clearanced (after 50% off it's $30). The other GRs that I've been to didn't have it marked that way though.

ANOTHER INDIANA GAMECRAZY bites the dust:

I was down in Lafayette today and the Gamecrazy there on 38 is now closed. That makes 2 IN stores this week...doesn't look good for their survival.

Also, the Cash Loan & Security pawn shop on 52 and Union had a premium xbox 360 for $249 when I stopped in today. If there's anyone looking for one cheap, this might be your answer.

Is it closing, or closed? Any idea what they are doing with the inventory?

I've hit up the GameRush in Lafayette on 52, as well as the GameRush in Indy at 82nd and Allisonville. Both have a decent selection on their clearance table, and it appears that both will be de-GameRushing. Per the employees they'll still be doing some games, but not as much. I expect they probably won't stock new titles anymore (at least not premium new titles).

personally i think they should change the game crazys into mcvan type places (where there are trade fees) they also should have a lot more touraments and other things. They have their own bulidings so its not like they dont have the space.

bad thing is Game crazy mostly does new games and really dont have jack crap in used games around here and when they do have used games they are like 5 bucks cheaper then buying new.

My problem with Game Crazy is their locations in Fort Wayne. Whenever I'm in Fort Wayne, I rarely go there because they are on the NW and NE side of town, and I live on the SW side of town (near U.S. 24 and I-69). It's just too far of a drive for me to bother.

Oh, the Lafayette store is definitely CLOSED. They Refused to sell them to me......BUT it was ok for them to take them home!!! He had a stack behind the counter! The Game Xchange there also screwed me one day...The guy said they had a FFVII and he would sell it to me...then I get to the counter and he told me he wanted it and wouldnt sell it to me!!!! I just stopped by Cash Loan & Security, and they didn't have a 360 labelled $249, but did have one with no price that had a comment saying the door stuck. I checked the Manufacture date and it was 4-17 2006, so it should still be under warranty if anyone's interested.

In related news, I spotted a used 20 gb PS3 at the Ameripawn pawn shop in Lake Station, IN with a price tag of $399. I tried to get the guy down to $350, but no luck. Kokomo Gamecrazy is a dump off store in the district, basically they get all the crap that nobody else wants, plus they get all of the "defect" games that other stores send out to be "refurbished."

Anybody go to the coin-op auction today at the State Fairgrounds? I picked up a WWF Wrestlefest arcade machine for $65. The monitor probably needs replaced since everything looks green, but it works. The one on 38th St. near TRU is gone. Tru is also gone. As are most of the other businesses in that area on 38th St., such as Circuit City. There are more empty buildings on that side of town every month...the city really needs to start some sort of reclamation project over there before there's nothing left.

I almost went to the coin-op auction but skipped it as I have no way to bring anything home and no extra money since I just paid my taxes and my 1st quarter estimated taxes. $15k down the drain...

I don't know how northern we are talking here. In my home town there is a guy who my parents bought their pinball machine that fixes arcade games, but we have been after him to fix my parents machine and he has been taking his sweet ass time. So I wont recomend him, although he does do good work when he actually does something. Anyways to the point I was trying to make. There is (maybe was, I haven't driven by in a few months) a store in Ft. Wayne called something like Eisner Sales..... Im afraid Im not positive on the name, but Im 86.43% sure that is it. They buy and sell arcade machines and I believe they advertise that they repair the arcade machines on their sign. So if Ft. Wayne is northern enough you might want to look them up. If I think of anything else or more info on the place Ill edit this post.

There is an arcade repair guy on Bluffton Rd in Wanedale (suburb on the south of Ft. Wayne. I think it's called Playfair coin-op amusements or something like that. I called them when I was starting my MAME cabinet about buying a cabinet or parts. The guy was actually really helpful and pointed me towards some wholesalers who could give me better on buttons and switches than him.
There is also a Game Room supply store on W. Jefferson between Jefferson Point and the park.

so far did it 4 times and got some massive games i wantedIt was funny, a friend of mine who's still stuck on the old times, wanted to buy some PS2 games off me so he could get good trades for the games he wants, at a place like McVan's. I told him, you can buy games cheaper at EB/Gamestop than trying to do even trades at McVan's (having to pay $9).

I'm in Fort Wayne this entire summer, so some of you might catch me around. I won't take advantage of many cheap deals anymore because the last thing I need is more video games. I've tried my hardest to downsize my game collection. So far, I had 680 games, and I'm now down to 607. The stuff I'm selling is in my signature, but many of the good stuff has been taken. I plan to use ebay in 2-3 weeks to unload more stuff. I hope to get rid of around 200-300 video games.

There are other things I need to worry about in life than try to tackle my crazy backlog, which is why I'm selling stuff.

considering getting a ps3. Here is what I have and the deals I could think of. if I am missing something please let me know. looking for best possible deal. Doesn't have to be today or tomorrow but today and tomorrow present unique opportunities.

available now

1)ps2 slim working
2)ds old working but one broken latch connector between the two screens
3)$45 dollars on a edge card at eb (was using it for Mario party 8)

available later

$100 dollar Circuit city Gift card coming in mail from Verizon fios in next 4 weeks or so.
$100 dollar Glenbrook mall gift card in mail from Verizon fios in next 4 weeks or so.

now

Eb games ps3 + one free controller! = $600 - $100( ps2 bonus trade in) = $500 - $60-20 (DS in need of repair) = $460 - $45 edge card = $415

tomorrow

Meijer this Sunday and Monday Gen Merchandise with MeijerCC is 15% off so 600-15% = $510 - prob $100-$110(could concieveablely trade PS2 and DS and edge card to EB for cash and bring that to Meijer) = Approx $400

later

Circuit city $600 - $100 gift card = $500

Eb games $600 - $60 (approx guess on Ps2) = $540 - $30 (approx guess on referbed Ds) = $510 - $100 Glenbrook mall gift Card = $410 - $45 Edge Card = $365

no games of any value even at the 40-50% trade in bonus that I can think of that I own and are not playing.

any and all suggestions would be much appreciated and the sooner the better as some of the opportunities are time sensitive. Thank you all.

Thank you all.

i would buy it from best buy and get the 2year warrenty. they let you return it at anytime

Hey, guys, for the rest of the summer, I'm going to be up in the Fort Wayne area. Is there any trick to survival up there I should know about?

And, as far as CAG business goes, we are stocked with the usual amenities with range, BB, CC, TRU, malls, right?

And, as far as CAG business goes, we are stocked with the usual amenities with range, BB, CC, TRU, malls, right?Yes, there are two Best Buy's (I'd say both are good overall, but clearance games can be tough to find), one Circuit City (IMO, it's one of the worst I've been to around the world), Toy's R Us (decent), and there are malls (Glenbrook Mall is starting to suck IMO, after a bunch of stores closed, but it still has EB Games and Sears isn't too bad there).

You might see me around one of those places.

Yea.

2 BB (One at Jefferson Point and one at Northcrest)
1 CC (Across from Glenbrook mall)
1 TRU (over by Glenbrook)
2 Gamecrazy stores (one at Dupont and another one on Maplecrest and St. Joe Center Road)

We basically only have the main stores. We don't really have any good local game stores. We also don't have any thrift stores except for the several goodwill stores around town.

The two malls in town aren't that interesting for a cag. Jefferson point has one EB and a BB across the street. Glenbrook has a Sears, but they don't have too much clearance. The EB there is okay and appears to be the only one in town doing a buy 2 get 2 deal on dvds. The sam goody and FYE closed down. The only good movie place left at the mall is Suncoast, but they're a little to expensive for my tastes.

I haven't had too much luck at the kmarts lately. I was recently on the south side and it seemed like the kmart there was better than the one on the otherside of town. I didn't seem as run down as the other one.

Is the Fort Wayne area a big heavy duty city, or is there a good amount of suburbs? Any tricky (For traffic or design) roads?

Fort Wayne is weird. My coworkers all describe it as a small town that got big. Meaning we have some of the pretty cool stuff from big cities, but all in all it feels like a smaller suburban town.

We actually have a pretty good amount of cool little hole in the wall places.

Since you're going to be in Ft. Wayne, I thought I'd warn you to stay the hell away from McVan's.Hahaha, true. I actually went there for the first time in years a few days ago. I actually made a few trades and overpaid for them, but only because there were two PS1 games I absolutely never wanted to see again. They can have some good old stuff, but their prices suck. I saw they are still charging $60 for Mega Man X2 SNES (I have the game and want to sell it, but I don't see it go anywhere near as much on ebay).

IMO, downtown Fort Wayne isn't all that big, but the suburbs or outside of downtown is pretty large, like there's decent amount of shopping on the NW, NE, and SW side of town (SE is the ghetto).

I never realized there were so many Ft Wayne people on CAG, but I guess that explains why finding deals can be a bit tougher. The best success I've had so far is at pawn shops and yard sales.

I moved here last August, and am still adjusting to the midwest style of living. Coming from the east coast, I don't find Ft Wayne to impressive at all, but I do like the wide variety of shopping and eating that can be had. There's no real trick to driving around town, just be prepared to stop a lot, since it appears that the city planners like to make the traffic lights appose each other, meaning that when one light turns green, the next light in the chain turns red.

With all of these CAG around, seems like a club or event should be planned. :D

I agree with the point about the food. There are so many restaurants in town. I'd really like to be able to go to Powers and Coney Island more. Those places are really good.

The one thing I don't like about the roads here is that they change names. St. Joe Center becomes Washington Center road. I also really dislike how the roads are set up to get into Jefferson Point or the Best Buy down there. That's a mess.

IMO, the traffic situation in the entire SW area is fucked. From Jefferson Point, to West Jefferson, to Getz Rd. , it just goes on and on. What makes it worse is that I live in the SW area right off Getz Rd., so I get stuck dealing with this crap on a daily basis.

From what I understand there was a period with almost no city planning...maybe in the 70's to 80's. When there was expansion, it was very haphazard. That's why you find weird areas that are like ghetto, nice houses, ghetto. This is also why some streets grew into each other.

Yeah, Fort Wayne is weird in that way.

What makes it worse is that I live in the SW area right off Getz Rd., so I get stuck dealing with this crap on a daily basis.Yes it is, but I can understand why. When I moved to Fort Wayne in 1983 (I was 6 months old), we lived in the SW area and there was absolutely nothing. There was a tiny Grocery store, old gas station, Verizon/GTW building, and not much else in the area. We lived in a small apartment in Colony Bay until we could find a house around town. My family felt it was best to live Northeast (I ended up moving to Hillsboro) because most stuff was there (like Target, Kroger, etc.). During the time I was away from SW, the area was starting to grow very quickly. Since they weren't sure if they area was going to grow anymore, so they paid experts from Indy lots of money, and they said the area wasn't going to grow anymore. They were planning on building a brand new H.S. (large one) where Summit Middle School currently is, turn the older Homestead High School into a middle school, and leave Woodside Middle school how it was. They heard the area wasn't going to grow, so they just remodeled Homestead and that's it. By the time I moved into the SW area, in 1990, the area really expanded and the schools were overcrowded. They ended up building a new middle school (finished in 1993), greatly expanding Homestead (finished in 1997), merge Homestead with Woodside (in 2004 I believe, can't remember), and build a brand new Woodside middle school (in 2004). They could have had everything right by not paying experts long ago, but ended up wasting all that money in the end. Btw, I knew about this since I did go to those schools.

I know about the area around Jefferson and Getz, which is why I hate being in the area (especially around lunch time). I really don't know any possible way of getting around it. They planned the area like it was never going to grow and always felt the SE side would be larger (but now that isn't the case).
From what I understand there was a period with almost no city planning...maybe in the 70's to 80's. When there was expansion, it was very haphazard. That's why you find weird areas that are like ghetto, nice houses, ghetto. This is also why some streets grew into each other.Pretty much. Some other poor planning is in most cities, you'll see shopping centers connect so you don't have to drive onto the main road. In Fort Wayne, you have to get back onto the main road to get to shopping center to shopping center. In many cities, most stuff is all on one street, but in Fort Wayne, it's split between Coliseum and Coldwater (which is why that's the worst intersection in town IMO).

Btw, I doubt anyone sees me around town, since I tend to go to places at werid times (usually in the morning, since I'm a morning person). But I'll say, if you ever see a short black guy, around the height of 5'5", that's me (I'm usually looking at everything, but the majority of my time is spent in the PS3, PSP, and 360 section at stores).

I've had no problems finding Wii's all over the state and I don't even own one.A friend of mine badly wanted to buy a Wii for his sister, but could never find one. The only way he was able to get one was to stand outside of Circuit City really early in the morning (on a Sunday) to get one. He told me they sold out within 10 minutes.

I go to stores around 3-4 times a week, mostly in the afternoon (sometimes evening or early morning), and still never seen one. They must just be popular in Fort Wayne and Lafayette. If I saw one, I'd probably buy it.

I somewhat dislike the employee that works at one EB in town (won't say who). Someone asked about a Wii, and he told them that no stores have gotten any shipments in for a long time and they only come in randomly (Yeah right, many retailers got them in on Sunday since they advertised limited quantities). He was the same guy who told someone that no new games were coming to PS2 later this year and a customer better not buy one (yeah right). He also gave me a hard time over owning a PS3.

Wait, we have a Fry's in Fort Wayne? I've never been in a Fry's, but everyone around here talks about it. Is it good?Nope, Fry's is in Fishers, IN (near Indy). It's actually not that far away. If you go south on I-69, its off of Exit 3 (I live by Exit 102, so its basically 99 miles from me). Yeah, it may be over an hour of a drive, but it's always worth it (I spend over an hour there, every time I go) IMO. Fry's is basically the size of 6 Best Buys (well, the one on Northcrest), and carries tons of electronics.

I don't just go to northern Indy (basically the Castleton and Fishters area) for Fry's, but they have a pretty good Best Buy, a few Targets (one is a Super Target), good Meijer (that has a few hard to find games at times brand new), good Circuit City, good Toy's R Us, Comp USA, and others. Last summer, I was going there every week. Glenbrook Mall is starting to become boring because most all my favorite stores closed, but Castleton Square Mall still has them. Although I found the Fashion Mall boring, I did love going to the Sony Style store though (Everyone who knows me, knows I have a love for many Sony products).

Oh yeah, I wanted to mention. I have a friend who really loves going to McVan's, and is trying to get me to go there often again (I rarely go anymore), because of all the good deals he can get there. He wanted me to sell him some PS2 games so he can make trades at McVan's (He wanted some low level games, to get a WWE Smackdown game, but I don't have them).

I'm very curious to hear most of your thoughts on McVan's.

Unless they've drastically changed, I'd avoid them like the plague. It's been a while since I've been there, but their trading system was totally screwed up, and I couldn't stand the know-nothing but acting like they know-it-all punks that they had working there. There was an Asian kid at one of their stores that's damn lucky I didn't pull his lungs out, he pissed me off so bad.

Me too. It's too bad that Office Max had to close down. They had some good deals. I'd really like to have a good office and computer stuff store around here.

I can also agree with Mana Knight about Glenbrook becoming a tad boring. The only stores left that really interest me are the EB and Suncoast. I miss the FYE and Sam Goody stores. I didn't really buy much from them, but atleast they were something else to visit. Atleast, we have that Barnes and Nobles going up.

When it comes to McVans, I look to them mainly for old accessories that I can't find cheap at gamecrazy. I also think their prices are a little high, but that's coming from a person who frequents the yard sale thread here.

He also charged me more for trades too (didn't take off because I had box and instructions while the games I got didn't).

What's really messed up about McVan's I hear is, some stores had games at different trade levels, and they had some really bad games (like One Piece and other kids anime games) at the top level, with some good (somewhat rare games) at a low level (still overpriced).

I wish we had a Frys in Ft. Wayne....Yeah, but Ft. Wayne is just too small for Fry's. The amount of stuff Fry's carries is just too much for Fort Wayne (I mean, they stock over 200 copies of many games). You can really only find Fry's in massive cities.

Yeah, I use to like going to FYE, Sam Goody, and Babbages (although they pissed me off a bunch of times, trying to sell me a non-sealed game when they had a sealed one, and other stuff). At times, I would find a decent deal at KB Toys (like when they had an awesome sale, selling brand new released games like MGS2, Maximo, etc. at half price). Now, I only go to EB, Suncoast, and look in Sears really quick.

If any of you guys are going the Ft. Wayne TRU, it will be pretty cleaned out. I got there when they opened. They had a cart of all the dropped games. It was me and this guy going through them. This hoarder who looks asian or indian grabbed multiple copies of a lot of the games. He ended up grabbing the only copy Phoenix Wright by accident. The guy had a whole basket full of ds games. I picked up a copy of Nanostray. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it for when I get a DS or put it on my tradelist.

I saw that game at xmas when they dropped all those games to 9.98 He asked to see the list that i had and i told them it wasnt a list of games. HE they said he was talking them all to ebay that night and what didnt sell he would return in 3 to 5 days

Next week went back and the baskets were full of games (probally all that he didnt sell) ALSO if you see him watch your games. i saw him go into 2 other peoples carts and take games right out of their carts (they were 2 isles over looking at other games) He took them right out of the carts and threw them in his basket.

About mcvans. Yea i used to hate him too but he seems to mellowed out i dont know if dave yelled at him about how he treated people or what.

ANd about games different levels at different stores are true. It depends on how many each store has.

Got to love that Castlevainia game (the greatest hits is RED 2nd level)
While Puzzle quest is Blue 3rd level

LOL

the only time i deal with mcvans is when i can make money off of them or get better games

BuY 100 to 200 pts off goozex. Take the game over to mcvans for a higher level game and swap it back to goozex

I took

Bomberman ds 200 pts
Megaman 5 Ds 150 pts
Nicktoons unite 200 pts

swaped them for

Sims 2 pts 400 pts
Puzzle quest 600 pts

so cost me 550 pts to get 1000 goozex pts : )

used to be some war game that was 100 pts mcvans had TOP LEVEL i was getting as many asi could off goozex and then picking up major games at mcvans and swapping them back to goozex

I'm suprised that the stores will let the guy dump his un-ebayable games back on a return. Most places stick to the no exchanges, no returns unless defective rule on games. (EB will ok it if you tell them it was a gift)
I would have given someone a hard time about it...especially if I figured out they were using my store as a wholesaler.

I think Ft. Wayne needs a big electronics store like Fry's.
They could move a smallish one into the old K's Merchandise location. :)

Maybe we should set up some kind of local gaming reference site... Lists of good stores, local deals, shops with good service & managers and whatnot.

There's already 1000 people chasing the 5 deals that Ft Wayne gets at any given time. It's already almost damn near impossible to get in on any deals around here unless you're free to hit these stores up when they open. Making it even easier to find the info will only make this worse. got to wonder if these people grabbing everything work for mcvans. (doubtful anymore) i know back when the Saturn well belly up and Best buy was selling the games for 2 to 4 bucks. ROb (used to be manager at the parkwest store) admited they made people drive all over the place (as far as iowa) to buy up every cheap game they could get their hands on

I think they are the ones who mostly cleared out all of the Gameboy color games at hollywood video (they had 100s even though the first 2 3 for 10 sales) Now they are just wipped.

Personally i dont see how they even stay in business. One worker admited the other week they might get 1 to 2 trades per day (around 18 bucks)

when you have 3 people working there i doubt they make a profit... then again years ago i was told 80% of their profit comes from Halloween to xmas

Definately. It appears that from January until Halloween, the place is a free admitance video game museum, that sells a couple games a week. They only do business around the holidays when parents with to much money buy rare games for their spoiled, undeserving children.

Lists of good stores, local deals, shops with good service & managers and whatnot. You know what, I wonder if that Asia guy at Toy's R Us, who did all the hoarding, is the same guy who took the 20GB PS3 from me at Meijer, just before Christmas (I could have gotten it for 15% off too that day). He didn't get that 15% off, but he seemed like a big ebay guy (only buy stuff to put on ebay). I actually found out who he was (because of Facebook, since he looked like someone from my old H.S.). I doubt it's the same guy, but I just had to wonder.

Fry's is only in big cities for now, but things might change down the road.

I like the idea of setting up a gaming reference site, maybe having our own little forum too. ;) I have some web space available, but it probably would be best to just get a domain strictly for that. I might be a good person to put in charge of it, due to sticking around stores a lot in town and being quite familiar with the area, but at the same time, I'm not in Fort Wayne year round.

There's already 1000 people chasing the 5 deals that Ft Wayne gets at any given time. It's already almost damn near impossible to get in on any deals around here unless you're free to hit these stores up when they open. Making it even easier to find the info will only make this worse. The amount of hoarders and profiteirs in this town makes me sick some times.I know what you mean. After the first Circuit City deal Ft. Wayne had (back in 2004), I next to never find the good stuff. That’s why when I hear about a big sale now, I travel to Lafayette, Merrillville, or Castleton/Fishers. When I go to those places, I find most everything I wanted. Fort Wayne isn’t really a big city, but it’s the only city with a Best Buy, Circuit City, Toy’s R Us, etc. within a pretty long distance (next closest locations are in Lima OH, Battlecreek MI, Muncie IN, etc.). There are people coming from many other cities to our very few stores, causing things to be picked over easily. I somewhat know this because my Mom use to work in the dress department in Macy’s, and due to being one of the only stores within a decent distance, people travel from all over to go there. My Mom also has problems finding stuff at the Fort Wayne location because stuff gets picked over very easily (due to being the only Macy’s within a distance). I’ve noticed the same with many other stores I like going to, except an EB/Gamestop. I’ll even say the Target’s in Fort Wayne don’t have anywhere near as much good stuff as the ones in other cities I go to. IMO, I think two of the Wal-Mart’s in Fort Wayne are terrible (especially the one on Jefferson), but ones I go to elsewhere appear to be much nicer inside. Meijer in Fort Wayne isn’t bad, but there’s no denying I can find better stuff in Castleton, Lafayette, etc.
Definitely. I live about 30 minutes or so from the Fort, so I don't ever jump in the car to rush for a YMMV deal. Next time one of y'all witness a profiteer, kick them once or twice in the beanbag for me.Lol, that’s what we need to do. I live around 15-20 minutes from most stores (10 minutes from Jefferson Pointe area). Problem is, I tend to either be too late. Even when I’m early, stuff is already gone (I’m talking about Best Buy). I think at Best Buy, the employees buy stuff up before the public gets to see it (I’ve seen employees look at the list in the store). I should find out, since I have a bunch of old H.S. friends working at the Best Buy at Jefferson Pointe.

I remember meeting him the very first time I went to McVan’s (back in 1995) and got to know him really well. He knew my family, my old best friend, etc. really well. He was really good to me holding games when McVan’s got them in, giving me awesome trade-in credit, allowing me to trade for stuff most couldn’t. I use to go to McVan’s a lot when he was there. I remember when the computer at McVan’s said they had 4 copies of VF Remix in at the Washington Ctr store (I was trying to track it down). Rob kept calling the store, but they said they didn’t have it. Rob was putting pressure on them to figure it out (I remember because that Asian guy answered the phone one time I went by, and called Rob an idiot).

I missed him at McVan’s and Blockbuster. At Blockbuster, he allowed me to rent the instruction booklet, and he would hold new release games for me.

I know where they get their profits from, my friend. He goes to McVan’s every few days, trading in games. He feels he’s getting a better deal making several $5-$9 trades than actually buying games.

As a gamer/collector, I agree with hating hoarders, but as far as retailers are concerned hoarders are a great way to dump your old clearance titles as quick as possible. In the case of the Best Buy clearance they just want the stuff out of the store ASAP, and they don't really care who they sell it to.

Maybe we collectively ought to just counter-hoard, and buy more copies than we need when items are dirt cheap, and save them to trade with one another.

I went to Castleton and Fishers today. I didn't spend as long as I'd like to in Fry's, but I picked up Salamander Portable (Import) on PSP. There were tons more PSP imports I wanted to get, but didn't want to spend too much money.

I went to Toy's R Us later, and ended up finding everything I wanted there I couldn't find in Fort Wayne. Got my Gunpey on PSP. I was very close to getting Blade Dancer there for a great price, but I don't need more decent RPGs (already have too many good ones I haven't played much). Other than Phoenix Wright (I don't really care about that game anyway), I saw much more there than I saw in Fort Wayne. That wasn't just the case at TRU, I saw that at FYE (they had a crapload of games in-stock, even those very few retailers carry).

Also, although I didn't feel like spending the money yet, I saw Ninja Gaiden Sigma (which isn't suppose to be out until next week) at Sears today. I was very tempted to buy it and brag to all my friends on PSN, lol.

I don't know if any of you guys will be interested, but the Village Books on Dupont is having a 75% off sale. They're closing down their smaller stores and just having the bigger one over by Best Buy. I picked up a few of the good sci fi hardbacks they had left.

I also dropped by the Gamecrazy a few stores down. I noticed that they put all their classic plastic stuff in one huge bin. I don't think any of us are going to want to search though that. I noticed they did the same thing at TRU with the recent drop.

I don't know if any of you guys will be interested, but the Village Books on Dupont is having a 75% off sale. They're closing down their smaller stores and just having the bigger one over by Best Buy. I picked up a few of the good sci fi hardbacks they had left.

i dont see why they have to toss the games in a bin. Too many hands grabbing. I would rather seem them spread the games out so more people have more chances to grab them

I remember last year at the CC sale I probally was holding 30 games in my hands just so they didnt fall back into the bin blocking the few of the other games.

Bins suck! Next time I'm going to place them on the floor next to the bin.

dont do it at CC cause the workers will get pissed. There are so many people around the bins the first day (first few mins they open) people will kick the games and step on them.

They put all the classic plastic in that bin about two weeks ago. I was there on a weekday afternoon and actually DID make stacks of games on the floor so I could see some of the games further down. Even doing that, I couldn't get halfway down the bin. We need to hit that thing in force so we can see what's in those boxes at the bottom of the bin.

Hey guys, let me know if you know where I can get a good deal on a Wavebird wireless controller for Gamecube. I'm looking for 2 if possible. New is preferred. Thanks.

-Dave
I haven't seen any places where you can get good deals on them new. The best price I was able to manage was $10 used from a pawn shop. I think you can also get them for $17 used from EB/GS. Hardly anywhere in FW still carries them.

I did not expect so many CAGs coming to Fort Wayne. If there's gonna be THIS much competition, I may just have to not make my stay permanent.

I don't think you have to worry about competition from us as much as all the hoarders and ebay people who are in the area as well. They're the ones that irritate me. Like what happened on Monday at TRU.

Have any of you guys hit up Blockbuster for their B1G1 sale? I picked up Lego Star Wars 2 for the xbox and Graffiti Kingdom. I was thinking about some more from the Maplecrest store, but Drakengard and the others I were interested in were scratched up more than I like. I was atleast able to score two decent games.

The story is that I made a deal with someone, to buy up over 150 video games (I've been trying all summer to get rid of a ton of video games since I'm tired of having a massive backlog) from me (since he's starting a video game store, but this is on the west coast). Since I haven't heard from him (Most older stuff is locked to him regardless, like my Dreamcast copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 2), I'm still willing to sell some stuff separately to others (like PS2/Xbox/GC/GBA games).
I did not expect so many CAGs coming to Fort Wayne. If there's gonna be THIS much competition, I may just have to not make my stay permanent. There are a lot in Fort Wayne and it can be a tad difficult to find stuff at times. However, I've still come across lucky many times and got good deals.

-DaveThe only place I've really seen Wavebirds at were Meijer, but they haven't marked down the prices as it seesm.

i did it in fort wayne and was yelled at around 4 times NOT TO PUT THE GAMES ON THE FLOOR.. So i was digging threw the bin with around 50 games in my hands . Few people said Selling on ebay huh? I was like nope just digging and let them hold most of them LOL

personally ebay isnt worth the hassle anymore maybe around xmas yea but rest of the year no. There are too many people who will do charge back and get their money back + keep your game on ebay. these days. I used to do money orders but i got a lot of fake money ordrers

When you get a fake money order your mostly screwed. You have no proof that person sent the money order to you so now you have that persons money and the game. ALL they have to do is call up the cops and say you ripped them off and you really have no defence to it

I wouldn't worry about competition in Ft. Wayne. There are several CAG's here, but so far I've never run into any of the others or lost a game to one of them. If anything being on here has alerted me to deals I wouldn't have found otherwise.

It's pretty rare that I buy games retail, I mostly trade on GameTZ and SwitchPlanet, so you don't have to worry about me nabbing your deal. I'm more likely to just post when I see a good discount bin somewhere.

I found someone to buy my stuff (most of it), while selling the rest to EB, various forums, etc.

Otherwise, I never see CAG members around (I might have, but I don't know how any of them look, and I know for sure none know how I look (My MySpace or Facebook doesn't reveal much)). Only time someone beat me to something was a PS3, but that was it (got mine a week after).

I buy games in retail too much, but I tend to be very random buying games. For the most part, I'm at EB Jefferson Pointe, Best Buy (near Jefferson Pointe), and Meijer (on Illinois Rd.) the most.

It looks like you're typically on the other side of town from me. I'm on NE and occasionally on the NW. I don't usually go down near Jefferson Pointe unless there is something I need at Staples.

Stay outta my neighborhood, fool! j/k I live off of Getz Rd. a couple blocks back from that Meijer, so I'm at those stores a lot too.

I live on the SW side...used to work near JP, but they relocated us closer to Coliseum Blvd. So I'm out north most of the time now.

I occasionally hit CC, Target, or TRU at lunch, or hit the EB and Meijer on Lima.

Anyone live near or in Indianapolis? Me want friend.I might move to Indianapolis in a year or two, depending upon where I end up for a job (Indy is very likely because my family wants to move there and I would kind of like to live there).

Oh course, you would not want to be friends with me. ;)

BTW, I was just kidding about that comment. I live in Indy, but the FW CAGs seem to be much more active on the boards. There's a couple other Indy CAGs here, though, but I don't see them post very much.

Mana Knight, why wouldn't I want to be friends with you? How old are you? What do you do for work? I'm unemployed.I'm too weird. :( I'm 24 right now (about to be 25). Not really working right now, since I'm still finishing up college. :( Compared to some of you, I feel young.
