I'm trying to slow down on my spending...

Me too, but mainly because I have Xmas gifts to get my 2 kids. I buy for them all year round - when I find a good deal, I snag it and then toss it all in a box in the closet. When I finally get everything together in December to wrap, I find a lot of stuff I'd forgotten about.

I did look into these companies few years back (the video game part) they wanted 100,000 bucks they supply the games but they took 75% of the profits

i think that is why you see 99% of them fold up so fast

That's funny ... I just noticed that place last night on my way to Tokens & Tickets, but I didn't stop in because I had the wife with me. FYI, Tokens and Tickets still has an old Simpsons arcade game and they also have a Typing of the Dead terminal setup. Several of my hard earned dollars went into those machines last night. :)

Sad to say but Family video is going to run video stop out of town. Video stop was the best place back in teh 80s and 90s but they just didnt grow with the times

I took my niece to Chuck E Cheese so I could play video games recently...I didn't want to go in there by myself or just with my wife...

Anyway, I went to the new one in Avon...they have Pirates of the Caribbean pinball, a 2-player Mario Kart that was pretty sweet, lots of shooting games, and the obligatory redemption games like skeeball, basketball, etc.

The great thing about Chuck E Cheese is that every game is only one token, plus, you can print coupons off online to get 80 tokens for $12.50, making each game you play cost less than 25 cents. When I go to Jillians or one of the "adult" bar/arcades in Indy, I pay an average of $1 per game to play the exact same games.

The bad thing about Chuck E Cheese is that even on a weekday they're packed and you have to fight your way through the crowds. Luckily, none of the kids are interested in any of the actual video games...they're all focused on winning redemption tickets. Playing Mario Kart in an arcade enviornment with a gas pedal and steering wheel (not to mention the built-in camera) was a hoot.

nice thing about working for the paper once a month they have those Coupon books in them. THey used to have 5 buck free token coupons. Used to walk in there about 2 to 3 times a week get 5 bucks in tokens and leave. then go there and have 20 bucks in free tokens : )

we went over to chucky cheese about a year ago and they have those ropes they got to open to let you in. NEVER TOUCH THOSE ROPES. There was no1 standing there so we took them down to get in

try checking out Gamecity in Lawrenceburg Indiana, florence KY and Newport KY they have large selections of vintage games and if you chat with the guys running the place they always bend over backwards and cut me unbelievable deals. Most of the emplyees have become more like good friends to me.

traded in 2 poker games i picked up off goozex for 100 pts each

traded in both games to get dawn for free so it was like paying 200 pts for it

Final fantasy tactics PSP missed it by 2 hours

if you got tons of GOozex pts this is a easy way to get good games cheap at mcvans

I might have to pop in to the Evansville store to see if they're hiding Sega Soccer Slam or Castlevania Dracula X (I know the latter has been out for two days, but most people in this area wouldn't know a good game if it walked up to them, bit them in the ass, and politely introduced itself. I was at Meijer on Illinois Rd. yesterday and saw they marked the 60GB PS3 to $449.99.

I'm going down to Fishers/Castleton, IN today. I'll be at Fry's around noon, and the mall and other stores later.

Just wanted to let you FW guys know that the K-Mart in Huntington had a shittload of clearance stuff left last weekend when I was in the area (VP2, Tales Abyss, Disgaea 2, some of the $5 360 games, and some decent DS stuff like Hotel Dusk and Children of Mana). Might want to check it out if you head out that way. Oh, and also, Lev's Pawn Shop on Wells St was running a B2G1 on all their PS2,XBOX,&Cube stuff.

I got the call today around noon that they had today's shipment in, and that they were holding copies back for the preorder tickets they'd sold, as long as you pick it up by 10 tonight. I'll hit it up again this evening with my preorder ticket and see how it goes. If they don't have it then, I'll soak the $5 and just go to the Best Buy across the street.

Looked like ok prices on used DVD's. $5 to $8 on most stuff.
CD's were mostly $6 or under.

Game selection seems to be filling out. Some stuff was overpriced, but there were deals to be had on older titles. Basically if it was a very popular title for an older system, it's probably cheap. Splinter Cell for Xbox was $2. I saw some GameCube games that were still holding their value...I think Smash Bros was still up there in price.

Anyway...not a total loss...I'll probably check them out for older titles I missed.

Tru called the next day said it came in stock. bought that a strawberry shortcake doll and a sucker for a total of 80 with tax and got $35 (10+25) on a gift card. not to bad at all. forgot to enquire about that coin thingy. oh well. game is pretty good. Still need to finish guardian legand and metroid prime 2 first. oh well.

For those of you looking for SMG at Greenwood TRU without a preorder at noon they had plenty in stock they didn't tell me how many just that I didn't need to rush in. They let me use the 15% off babies r us coupon I paid $45.04 with tax.

The Greenwood BB also does the SMG corporate promo without hassle. Just bring up the game to a register and ask about the gift card and they'll ring you up. There were only 3 SMGs left around 11am though.

Also, Red Steel and Excite Truck are starting to be clearanced at the US31 Target. It's still first level, so it's tagged around $34.98, but there were plenty in case you want to wait it out.

Star Ocean The Second Story

Those were a few of the better ps1 manuals. I left a DQVII and Breath of Fire manual. There were several FFVIII manuals. I didn't see any snes rpg manuals and I didn't even check the two boxes of n64 manuals. I just thought I'd let you guys know about them if you need any to complete your games.

I bought mine at the TRU in Mishawaka. I can check to see if they have any this weekend.

I was at the Meijer on Illinois Rd. yesterday, and they had several games with the orange clearance tag on them. All GBA, GC (I think), etc. games had the tag. A bunch of PSP, PS2, and $20 or less games had it. Some PS3, 360, Wii, DS, etc. games had it. Some sales looks good, some do not.

I'm kind of holding out for a 25%-50% extra off clearance before I buy anything.

At the Best Buy near Jefferson Pointe, they had a huge stack (3 of them) of Wii Guitar Hero 3's. Wal-Mart and Gamestop in the same area had Rock Band (both PS3/360).

I barely remember, but I saw Kameo (360) for $12, 64MB memory card on 360 for $15.99, Baten Kaitos (GC) $14.99, Yakuza (PS2), $14.99 (I think) and more. If I go back, I'll take a closer look.

I know here in Muncie we are forcasted for 10-14 inches up until tomorrow morning.

With it being a week before Christmas and TRU, BB, and Target having Wii's in stock tomorrow. Greenwood Meijer didn't have any Persona 3 or Odin Sphere. I picked up Jeanne d'Arc, Metal Gear AC!D 2, FF IV, Sigma Star Saga, Beyond Good & Evil (PS2), Psychonauts (PS2), Tomb Raider Legend, and Kingdom Hearts II for pretty cheap. This Christmas will be good for the cousins again. I love these holiday sales.

I was out of town over the weekend, but around Thursday of last week the Southtown WalMart had a big bin of $10 games. I picked up Chicken Shoot (Wii) for my kid, and 2 copies of Brain Age 2 for gifts. I was at the Coldwater and Apple Glen Wal Marts later, and neither had this bin up. Thought it was weird. Friday the bin was picked over. Lots of PS2/Xbox/PSP stuff left, but Wii and DS titles were almost all gone. All the Brain Age titles were gone.

for whats its worth. I had a bunch of school books a couple of months ago and was trying to sell them and every local book store I went to didn't want them and while I was there I asked about guides and most said they didn't carry many try mcvans. I dont think I asked about selling at that time. but most stores had like 10 or less. good luck

I was at Value City two days ago and actually saw some interesting games near the register. They had PSP Capcom games for $20 (like both Mega Man games, Monster Hunter Freedom, both Classic collections, etc.). Also had PSU on PS2.

While I was at Meijer on Jefferson, they had Jeanne D'Arc on PSP for $17.99 on clearance. Persona 3 is gone.

I just got Super Swing Golf on Wii for $20 at Sears. I still saw a few interesting games on clearance, but not as much as before.

i think its a lot better then ryans (then again i was only like 1o to 15 when ryans was around)

they got pizza. chicken. steak, fudge, ice cream, salad bar. fish. meatloaf. more stuff all you can eat for 7.xx before 4 or 10 bucks after 4pm

the trick is to go around 330pm that way you can sit there until 4pm and get the better food they put out at 4pm and only pay 7 instead of paying 10.

A few non-Goodwill/SA thrift stores, but nothing that stocks games. Fishers has a McVans that has a fairly good stock of old things, but of course they ship between stores. The non-chain pawn shops are hit and miss of course, but there are a few of them in the area.

Kinda hard to beat that price for a necessity, so if you're in the Indianapolis area, you might want to check your W-M for that.

They changed their terms of service to include traffic management. For a while, they were denying any such management.

If you're on a host that regulates Torrents, you may want to try using a BT application that has port randomization. I know uTorrent can do that.
You'll need to set the ports on your router that are ok to forward straight to you machine. Usually a range. Then tell your BitTorrent client what range it can randomize the ports to.

At least 3 problems I noticed. Sonic, fuzz during Civilization and the sound system went louder and quiter for the piano as well as at some of the med-higher piano notes made akaward sounds like sound system was not properly set up or piano not properly tuned.

One of my computer's died (xp2000+ yeah that old) haven't built one in years so have to get back into whats what, amd vs intel, this motherboard vs that one. Bleh. Plan on trying to get one I can pull over my 3 current Ide Hd's to till I can make the Sata switch. For now it will just be a general web computer but I also want to be able to drop a nice vid card in in when Starcraft II finally come out.

Was thinking stone computers as A+ computers is typically high priced and full of arrogance. Any thought or suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ive had experience with A+ years ago. They did a pretty good job, but I honestly don't know why they charge so much. Why not build your own? It's pretty easy and much cheaper. And if you are not sure on what to buy or how to install something, you can get a lot of help in the PC forum.

I would just build one on your own. If you've done it before, you can do it again. It just requires a little research, which is the more difficult part. I would search through the PC board here and head over to the forums over at Hardocp.com. I would definitely check out their deals board since it focuses on PC hardware deals.

I can understand wanting the ease of just being able to take it to a local store, but I wouldn't rule out buying online. I would at least go to somewhere like newegg to spec out a possible computer. You can then take a list of those parts to Stone or A+ to compare prices and see if they even carry those parts. If you get a new case as well and want to buy it locally, I would check the A+. Last time I was there, I though they had a better selection of cases than Stone. The cases were from some of the better case companies.

Techreport just published a new lineup of machines. The econobox is very similar to what I'm using now...same motherboard, but different video card and case.

I'd go with that motherboard, a low end Core 2 Duo CPU (instead of Pentium Dual Core)
Maybe go lower end on the video card. You should be able to get a Geforce8800 or 8600GTS for cheap right now since the 9600 just came out.

Do you already have a windows license you could transfer?

Most new motherboards only have 1 PATA drive connector though. You might need to pick up an PATA enclosure for your last drive and go SATA for your CDROM.

I have dealt with a few of the Fort Wayne computer stores and I know that they cannot beat the price and service of Newegg. I Actualy prefer the Book Nook, and EDJE over SQ due to SQ not knowing much abou games, but they are extremely nice people, and go out off thier way to make customers happy.

Speaking of Newegg, I'm about to purchase a new PS3 HDD from them (probably 250GB). It will be the first time I ordered from them.

Haven't seen many good deals last time I was in Fort Wayne. I'll be on Spring Break in just over a week, so I'll post deals as I see them.

I was at the BB at Jefferson Pointe/AppleGlen in FW about 4 days ago getting a replacement keyboard (I kinda dropped my drink on my old one and it died a terrible screeching noise-like death), and snagged a copy of Folklore there for 39.99.. but the sale ended back on 2/11 or something. I spoke to a sales rep and he said it was at that price 2 weeks ago at that price but they must have forgotten to taken it off. He gave the white plastic sheet with the price tag to me and and told me to give it to the cashier, and she gave me the price that it was listed as.

It's not the same price as the Target store, but I did have a coupon with me so it wasn't too bad I guess.

I wouldn't know. It's been months since I've been down there. A part of me is tempted to go down there to see if they or some other store down there might have a 60 gig PS3 by some slim chance.

I wonder if that K-Mart still has a 60GB PS3. I don't need one (I already got a PS3), but I remember the other K-Mart had one a week before Christmas (box was kind of damaged), but it's gone now. Only place I think that still has them is Sam's Club, but that's because the bundle is overpriced (with MotorStorm for $550).

In reality though, I still just recommend getting a 40GB and keeping a PS2 around for most, because most PS2 accessories just won't work on a PS3 and some games will look pretty bad on an HDTV regardless of upscaling (and some games have issues regardless of what SKU you get). But I dunno, I mostly just play PS3 games on my PS3 because after I got an HDTV, I could not go back, lol.

I paid $500 for mine, but I got a 20GB near launch. I kind of wish I had another SKU, but I will upgrade the HDD soon.

I will be preordering a game at the GS at Jefferson Pointe when I get back, since it will be out during Spring break.
