I haven't checked the Half-Price books on US 31 lately but they never have anything of note. Or it could just be that everyone snatches up the good stuff quickly.

Has anyone checked out the Fort Wayne Circuit City yet? I didn't know if the discounts were universal nationwide or not. It seems like they are varying between locations according to reports on the main deals forum. Any info would be cool.

Greenwood discounts:

yeah thats not too great. Was it still a madhouse though? Too bad the game accessories weren't 30% off like most of the other locations, I was hoping for some cheap point cards.

I was at the Fort Wayne CC yesterday. It was very busy. I dropped by since I went to check on the clearance stuff at Sears. I wonder how often they are going to up the percentages?

The Wal-Mart on Washington St in Indianapolis has Rock Band 2 for the 360 and PS3 marked down to $100 (complete with Was $189 sign). Picked up a copy for the 360 and it rang up correctly.

They had two copies of the 360 version and one on the flat skid in the aisle and possible more on the 12 foot run in electronics proper.

Did you find anything worth while at Sears, Erehwon? ;)

I haven't found anything great on clearance at the Sears in the Glenbook Mall for a while. Almost every time I look at games, I get bugged by a salesman that (usually that fat guy with thick glasses). He's been there forever at Sears (most probably know who I'm talking about. I believe he has a little dark gray hair, but somewhat bald).

I picked up 2 copies of singstar for the ps3 and 1 copy of DDR Universe 2 for the 360. I'm selling one of the copies of singstar to someone on the board. I'm thinking of using the other as a present. I don't usually find much though.

I can't wait for that Half Price books to open up. It'll be nice to have another used book store.

I just got hired at the Half Price Books that is opening up on Coliseum. If all goes as planned, it should be open by the first week of March. In the event that I don't get fired during my twelve week training program, I will definitely post some of the deals that I find within our store.

This is why I don't bother with going out of business sales anymore. People jump on the stuff way to early. You gotta wait until stuff hits at least 50% off! :P

Do you know if they are still hiring? I could use some extra income so I can buy more games and electronics I don't really need. :)I still need a job in general. I've tried applying to 30+ places ever since I finished college in May 2008, and still no luck. :-( I've even tried applying outside Fort Wayne, IN into other cities across the U.S., and still no luck.

I've seen SingStar on PS3 at Sears for a while, but never knew it was on clearance at ours. I already got mine long ago.

I'm getting ready to finish at IPFW, and that news really sucks to hear. I don't plan on staying in FW anyway, but I'm sure the job market is terrible almost anywhere right now. What's your degree in - what type of work do you hope to get?

I went back to work at Circuit City and the games were back to 10% off. They had been 20% Saturday and Sunday but the liquidators put the kibosh on that.

Still plenty of 360s and PS3s there at 10% off.

I heard a rumor that most of the inventory might get shipped to Castleton and the Greenwood store closed earlier than the others.

I was right there with you. I graduated from Tri-State University (now Trine) in Dec 2007 and was unemployed for six months. After searching for a degree in my field (psychology) and discovering the limited (read: grueling) jobs available, I finally got a job at Wal-Mart as a dairy stocker. By sheer coincidence, I stumbled on the Half Price Books ad in the classifieds and decided I was ready for a change.

At the moment, I am not sure if HPB will be hiring any more people. They did a series of interviews over the course of a weekend and, apparently, made their decisions a few days afterwards. My first day is the 26th and I should have a better idea of their staffing plans by the end of the week. If all else fails, I would suggest putting in an application at the Wal-Mart off of 37. There are a few openings (two for third shift dairy that I know of). In addition to this, they will be hiring an entire crew for a remodel that is planned for March. Hope that helps.

I graduated college in the summer of 2001, took a month to find a job just to pay bills while looking for a real job I wanted. It was in mortgages and that fell apart right after 9/11. Took me 4 months to find another job. (but I still have that one)

1: I saw a CC ad on tv today stating 30% off everything. No CC is close to me so i cant verify it.

I didn't see any point cards in the xbox aisle. So maybe they already got picked up at 10% off. I didn't think to check on wii points or psn cards. However they still had plenty of good games left. So hopefully those will last until a better drop.

Not a deal, but just thought I'd share: Southport Meijer, I watched as a Chinese guy went away with no less than 12 games from the B2G1F deal. Looks like he grabbed multiple copies of games as well. The lady helping him out already had stacks in her arm as he continued pointing at games, but I nearly slapped my head when he pointed at Too Human and asked for a copy. I can't imagine he bought all those games (or the majority of them) to flip on eBay.

The Greenwood store is still kicking but when it comes to video games there's, not a lot there. I look pretty much for 360 games and they have a few cheapies left but majority of there games are around the $50-$60 range, and still 10% off as of Saturday the 24th.

So, uh... anyone been to the Target on 31 and National recently? 'cause the big sign's down. I knew it was closing "some time in '09", but I never saw anything on the Indy Star or anywhere else after that story... didn't think it'd be gone already.

Maybe they just moved the inventory to other stores and never did a final clearance? Or maybe it just got lost in the furor over Circuit City and Macy's? I'll have to drive back by there and check out the signage.

Haven't gone there in about a month, but I remember the closing signs stated January 17th as the last day. That was a great place for me to pick up clearance games, so kind of sad to see it go, plus it was the closest Target downtown.

It is a pretty rundown looking area though. The parking lots were always a mess. They had this pothole that was the size of a kiddie swimming pool they never fixed.

And Steve McQ is right about that pothole. I stopped going there because the place is more ghetto than Tijuana.

I was at the Meijer on Lima last night and it appears as though they have marked down nearly all of their video games. I was only in the market for a 360 games but I did happen to take a look at the PS3 titles. These are the prices/games I remember:

360:
Dead Space - $35
Fallout 3: Collector's Edition - $40 (Regular edition was $60)
GTAIV: Collector's Edition - $40
Rock Revolution - $20
Lost Odyssey - $25
Halo 3 - $40
Simpson's Game - $9.90
Meet the Robinsons - $9.90

PS3:
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Somewhere between $30-35
NHL2k9 - $15

My little brother seems to remember Dead Space being the same price for the 360. I ended up getting Dead Space and am considering going back to pick up Lost Odyssey and Fallout 3: CE (even though I own the regular edition).

Anyone know how much Gamestop offers for the regular edition of Fallout 3?

I barely looked at the handheld games. I saw many more PS3 games marked down at the Meijer on Illinois Rd., but I'm not telling which since I hope to grab them up. :-P The Fallout 3 Collectors set still says $80 on 360 though.

I might try the Meijer on Maysville Road and see what they have. The Fallout 3 CE sounds nice, but I wonder if they have the PC version marked down too? I was actually up by the Lima Meijer last night, but didn't stop since they don't usually have that good of deals.

I tried the Meijer on Maysvill Rd and it only had a couple of markdowns. The only things I saw were a couple of ps3 sports games and a GTA4: CE for the 360. I'll be going to BB on Monday for some penny guides, so I might also drop by the Meijr on Lima. I'm hoping the Fallout 3 LE for pc also went down.

Meijer at Southport - all PS3:

Fallout 3 CE: $40
Disgaea 3: $30
GTA4 SE: $40
SingStar 2 disc only: $25
Dead Space: $35

Also, the PC version of Fallout 3 CE was marked $70.

Falcon, I know you said all PS3, but did you happen to see Dead Space on the 360 for sale? I didn't know if the "all PS3" was because you didn't look at 360 (in which case I'll drive over and look) or because you did and the 360 stuff wasn't for sale (in which case the drive would be a waste). 360 Dead Space for $35 locally is something I'd be interested in.

Also, if you're from around that neighborhood, do you have any idea if the Southport Target has a clearance section again yet? The Greenwood Target clearance section was disappeared about a week after Christmas and hasn't yet reappeared. (clerk told me the stuff was all sold)

That was a great place for me to pick up clearance games, so kind of sad to see it go, plus it was the closest Target downtown.

It is a pretty rundown looking area though. The parking lots were always a mess. They had this pothole that was the size of a kiddie swimming pool they never fixed.

Haha I always call that place Ghetto Target, lmao. It always had some good deals. Anyways, I've seen a few things 360 wise on other threads. I'm going to hit up CC, BB, Target and possibily GS depending on if I have any money left and then be at a superbowl party. So I'll let you guys know what I find later tonight around the Greenwood area.

It was all PS3 because I didn't check the 360 stuff. Part of it's because mine is RROD'd at the moment, and part of it was me wanting to see what was up on PS3 sales since TMK wasn't forthcoming. So, no, I don't know if Dead Space 360 was on sale. I'm not sure if it was even there. Sorry.

Southport Target had a VG clearance section a couple weeks ago, but nothing caught my eye (I'm mostly recalling PC stuff that I didn't care about). I haven't been there since the last set of price drops, though. Haven't been to the Greenwood Target in ages, not since I was watching the $90 120 GB 360 hard drive that hung around for a while.

[Edit 5:00 - Hope you didn't make the drive. I went back to get a Fallout 3 CE and checked 360 stuff - they didn't even have Dead Space.]

Southport Target doesn't have a video game clearance rack as of Friday afternoon. I went there to stock up on M&Ms and roamed the electronics aisles a bit.

Heres what I picked up and noticed today. The Circuit City in Greenwood was pretty much a waste of time. They had pretty much $50 and $60 360 and ps3 games, from what I could tell, they didn't have any ds, psp, or wii games. They also had misc comp games, a fairly decent selection still of those. That was pretty much it gaming wise. I seen a thread on cag saying they seen Culdcept Saga for 360 for $20, so I went to the Best Buy in Greenwood and no luck finding that. I did pick up the last copy of Sumer Athletics mainly because I haven't seen it at any rental place around here so I figured that would possibily be the last chance to ever get points for that game. I then headed to Target. They have You're In The Movies this week for $30. I seen that the camera alone sells for $40 and this comes only with the game and cam so I bit on that and picked it up. They had 2 more there for anyone else interested. They didn't have a clearance section at all so there wasn't really anything else there. I didn't make it to Game Stop. Not many deals going around this week it seems, but I am curious to see if Target has any good markdowns tommorow. Anyways I hope I have saved some time for those of you that shop around Greenwood.

I went to the same CC on Saturday. I got the same sentiment from a lot of people who were trying to find a deal, but I think seeing the lack of deals and clearly overpriced items reminded people why they did not shop at CC more often.

They do still have some nice 46-50 inch HD TVs, but they were about $400-600 away from being a deal. If CC increases the discount on them to 40% or more, then they would be a steal.

I've never really gotten anything good at the gamestops in town. I need to dumpster dive my nearest GS to see if they still destroy the guides. DD'ing is about the best way to get penny guides from GS these days.

I did hit best buy right as they opened and got what I wanted, though I really didn't get any extras. I checked again today as well. They either had a hoarder come in after me or they pulled them after I left. I'm thinking they pulled them. It's too bad since I left a lot behind. I could have grabbed more, but my stack was getting pretty heavy. I left at least one of each guide I picked up.

When I worked at EB, the policy was to pull the $.01 guides when their number came up and give them to the manager. I think they had to tally how many went and report them destroyed. I think technically they were supposed to tear the cover off, but usually they didn't. We tended to hoard them at the counter and sell them to people who were buying that game. Because even if you sold them at a penny, it counted as an accessory sale and made your attachment numbers look good.

It was also a good opening line to have a stack of them and say "hey customer, do you happen to play any of these? (wave stack of guides) I'm getting ready to pull them and send them back, and they're only a penny in the computer right now before we get rid of 'em." Even if that didn't move inventory, it usually got people talking about what games they play.

It's the same thing at kmart, only with everything in electronics. We are supposed to pull anything that has dropped down to a cent. Being the person I am I usually just mark it down a bit and sell it to a willing customer.

(Normally comes up on the computer as "enter price here", so it's however much I want it to be.)

There are those rare times though that I will end up selling them like 90% off to a person I liked or someone that really needed it.

Just like any other store, get the people that can do things for you to like you and you will be rewarded.

*cough* If you guys ever run into the Kmart in greenwood, and I happen to be working, I wouldn't mind giving you guys some deals on what I can. *cough*

When I used to work at a video store I had a similar policy. I'm just now getting used to being back in Indianapolis, but I love being back. This is my home. Do any of the Indianapolis CAGs ever get together?

Well, I'm going to flat out admit that I have seen great deals at Meijer, but I'm kind of keeping a little quiet about them. If people want to know what PS3 deals I saw, you can ask me in private (I tend to do want to say too much or I'll be seeing hoarders take everything just to sell).

As for Indy, I was there on Wednesday, but not for long. I don't go there all the time (like 2-3 times every month), but my Dad goes down there a lot because of a certain situation with my older sister (she lives in Indy). There's a SMALL chance I'll get a job in Indy, because a few companies down there have my resume, but it's more likely I'll end up in another state (such as the D.C. area, Florida, Chicago area, Ohio, Pittsburgh area, etc.). I actually hope to stay in Indiana, but haven't had much luck finding jobs around here.

Like I posted in my blog, I did go to the job fair at my old college (in West Lafayette, IN) on Wednesday and it went really well. I just hope to finally get something.

I stopped by the castleton Meijer and the only good things they had on sale were some 75% off copies of Command and conquer 3: Kane's wrath and F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate. They did have about four copies of the collector's edition of WoW: Wrath of the Lich King at retail price ($79.99???). Also a rediculous number of the lunch box special editions of Fallout 3 for both PS3 and 360 at retail price (69.99 I think).

Also stopped by the Castleton Circuit City. Games are marked off 40% now and pretty all the good games were gone. Did see two special edition copies of Saints Row 2 and after the discount I think they would be about $40. Also some NCsoft time cards for cheap. But the big surprise was the rediculous price they wanted for the regular edition of WoW at $40 before discount. As far as I could tell all copies of Wrath of the Lich King were gone, but then again the organization they had at the store was terrible. Finally I will still say the TVs are overpriced. When they want $1800 for a 46 inch LCD TV when you can get the same price or better online...you can guess they were not moving TV sets.

You guys do know that 120 hz is a rip off right? Also, NEVER EVER buy a display model TV.

Case in point, we didn't have a signal going to our TVs for the last five hours of the day today. Some have a nice feature where the No Signal indicator floats around the screen but some TVs (LG is one of the brands) just sit there as a nice static image for hours. We turn those TVs on at open and turn them off a few minutes before close. Most days that ends up being 12 hours straight.

Know why? Because we don't really give a damn about displays that we don't own. It's true for any display of any kind. I've doing my best to discourage anyone from buying displays but people still want them. My boss and I have a running joke that people want displays more when you warn them about it the same way dudes love skanky whores even more after they get a nasty STD.

Every single TV in my household is open box.

I actually like having 120Hz. While most things it would make a difference for, a few things I have it does.

The following were available at the Greenwood Target today:

In the clearance section

Singstar Vol 1 with 2 microphones: $29.98
Disney Sing something or other $29.98 (I was unfamiliar with the game but it looked to be based around their current crop of "Tween" shows and not their animated classics)
PS3 Guitar Hero Aerosmith- 25ish
Haze- 19.98
Too Human- 19.98
360 Kung-fu Panda -no price tag
A bunch of Rock Band 1 bundles for $99
Miscellaneous EA sports games that I can't recall the exact details for

Still in the main cases but marked with clearance stickers:

360
Tomb Raider Underworld, Soul Caliber IV, and Brothers in Arms- 41.98

PS3 Farcry 2- $29.98 Unfortunately, the 360 version of this is still full price at 59.98

I would have jumped on Farcry 2 if it were the 360 version. As far as I know that is GREAT price on the PS3 version and they are pretty much technically identical, but unfortunately the people I'd play it online with only have 360s. That is a decent price on Too Human if you missed Wal-mart's earlier online sale of the game. Unfortunately, I just picked it up used through Family Video.com

The SingStar bundle is still cheaper at Meijer if you can find it, but is worth watching for another price drop. Haze can obviously be found cheaper elsewhere.

We literally made a mountain out of the new Guitar Hero World Tours we got in from the Columbus CC. We got at least a dozen of the 360 version and almost that many of the PS3 version.

We also got a crapload of Yoga Mats, Wii Fit Sleeves, Zappers, Steering Wheels, and Sports Kits.

I think we also got in the Garmin 260 but I tried to avoid the camera/GPS section like the plague today.

Hit up Greenwood and here's what I err..... didn't find haha. Circuit City was pretty bare to say the least. They had probably 10 total 360 and ps3 games in the whole store condensed on the left hand side wall. Very slim picking for console games and they were 40% off. Still had a decent selection of pc games, forgot to check what % they are though. Tv's were still 25% off and had quite a few. If your in the market for console games though, I wouldn't waste the gas. Hit up Best Buy. Seen a few new markdowns for 360. They had Blitz: The League 2 for $20 and Samuri Warriors 2: Empires for $20, everything else looked the same. The thing that confused me the most was that they were sold out of the 4000 Microsoft Point Cards for $50, but they had a few of the 4000 cards with GTA 4 on the front of them for $45, lol. Don't hold me to this but I'm about 95% sure they are the exact same thing, so why the cheaper cards were left is beyond me. Next I went to check out Deals which is right across the street from the Best Buy to see if they had those $3 original Xbox games, but they either didn't get any or they sold out quick. I checked the entire store, including the food aisle just to make sure, no dice. Last, I hit up the Target clearance. Still had the same old stuff. 1 copy of Last Reminant for $41, Unreal Tournament 3 (360) (I believe $27 but not 100% sure on that), Fracture $20, Tomb Raider Underworld (360) $41, had 2-3 copies of Disney Sing It for ps3 but didn't check price and 1 copy for ps2, and still had 2 Rock Band 1 complete bundles for $97. From all of those stores, I walked away with nothing haha. So I went to Gamestop and bought Zoids Assult for $30. Not a deal but wanted to get the game, since only 1601 people have played the game in the world haha. Anyways, game on, and happy bargin hunting!! :)

Don't hold me to this but I'm about 95% sure they are the exact same thing, so why the cheaper cards were left is beyond me.

Damn. i was on the south side last weekend and stopped by Circuit City specifically hoping to find a 4000 point card. Didn't see the GTA cards. Were they with the other video game stuff or in another area? Also, were they in the clamshell packaging? I may have to make another run down there.

:)Nice summary. Thanks.

Anyone able to spot anymore Singstar Vol. 1 (PS3) anywhere on clearance? I briefly saw two on clearance for $41.98 at the Southport Target, but that's a little more than I wanted to pay for it. Also, no Mercs 2 (360) clearance sightings?

I snagged a Mercs 2 for $14.98 over the weekend at the Glendale Target. They probably had around 8 - 10 left. Their clearance section was pretty decimated and I think the only reason Mercs 2 was left was because it was still in the case with the rest of the 360 games. I've seen the Singstar set at either the Castleton or 116th/69 Target, but I forget which one and I'm pretty sure it was still at the $41.98 price. I've also been looking for a $9.98 of Fracture (360) or Too Human and it seems like the stores on the north side still have them both for around $20.

No problem. I actually stopped by there tonight. They had 6 copies of Mercs 2 left for $15, but they had moved them from the case to the clearance endcap. Rest of the endcap was titles like Endwar, Fracture, NCAA Basketball 08 and a couple others, all for $20 to $40 each. They also had a couple of the Singstar packages in with PS3 accessories, but they were still $41.98 each.

There wasn't any Mercs 2 at the Greenwood Target either (was looking for it too). Looks like we'll have to take a drive if we want it for cheap.

Got Mercs 2 (360) for $14.98 at Glendale Target as maxfisher mentioned. Four copies left as of Friday afternoon. Also decided to grab FarCry 2 (PS3) at the same price. I usually like getting games for the 360, but that's too nice a price to pass on a good looking game. End War (PS3 - game only) was also $14.98 on that endcap, but there were only 2 copies left. Thanks for the heads up maxfisher.

I wonder if they can even sell those or if they're just out by mistake. Don't they have to activate at the time they scan them? I'm going to be about 20 minutes from that store meeting some people for dinner tonight, so I'm debating whether it's worth leaving an hour early to try to snag some cheap points.

Glad to be of help. That's really weird on End War. When I scanned it last night it came up $29.98. I guess maybe we've found a Target that does drops on a day other than Monday? I might have to stop on my way home to snag a copy at that price.

Glad you found it Steve!! Also, I just went and picked up one of those point cards and it looks like they weren't even touched from the other day. They are still in with the 360 accessories on the bottom shelf. When I got there today they looked like they were pushed back and it looked like they were gone. But they still had a good 9 or so, and it rang up priced at $45. The guy in font of me had 2 gift cards and I always forget to use gift cards, and I had a Best Buy card that was dated 2006 at the bottom that still had $9, so it came up to like $35 and some change haha.

As long as the meet up isn't at a bar, there's a chance I may go (lol, most everyone should know my opinion on bars by now).

I actually plan on a Midwest CAG meet up which I've been planning for over a year, just won't execute it/reveal it yet (although it's not just for people in Indiana, for people in MI, OH, PA, and other states too).

A meetup/swap at IPFW would be ideal.I agree, but I'm really not sure if I'd be able to make it (my schedule is all over the place right now). Although I'm un-employed, I'm still quite busy and get interruptions a lot.

Oh, and if any of you southsiders were looking to jump on the Rock Band bandwagon, now would be the time. SV/135 Target had two 360 copies of the RB1 full bundle for $70 yesterday, and there are reports that some Targets had the price drop to $35 today. I haven't been to this particular Target today myself, but at that price, it'd be worth checking into...

And if you do get on the RB bandwagon, let me know; I'd love to play online more.

Any hardcore NES collectors/dealers in Indy? I am going to sell my NES collection soon...have to get a list together of what I have. There are 500-600 different games plus duplicates of some stuff, I believe. Also have an original top loader with Dogbone and a ton of accessories. Probably sell the collection for around $3 a game times the number of games as one wholesale lot and throw the system/accessories/Nintendo storage boxes/black and clear cases/etc. in for free. I won't be breaking it up, as it will go on Ebay as one lot if I don't sell it locally.

Also have a boxed Famicom with a ton of games and a boxed Super Famicom with a ton of games. Those will probably end up on Ebay, as I don't think there's a lot of local interest.

I store my game boxes in my closet currently, but I'm not sure if I want to move them all one day, lol.

It's not actually in the mall area. There's a road that wraps around the mall that's 86th St. running east/west and something else (maybe Center Run?) running north/south. The Target's on that road, across from Costco.

Got the last Singstar (PS3) at the Castleton store! Thanks again maxfisher. That's the second time I was able to pick up stuff I've wanted thanks to your info.

No problem. I've got so many great deals on this board over the years that it always feels good to help a fellow CAG out. That said, if you feel like repaying the favor, I'm trying to find The Last Remnant, Too Human, Spider-Man Web of Shadows and/or Tomb Raider Underworld for $15 or less each. If you happen to see any, a heads up would be much appreciated.

As for updates, I stopped at the Glendale Target again tonight. The Last Remnant dropped to $29.98, but all the other clearance stuff looked the same. They also had a bunch of mostly crappy DS games 'temporarily reduced' to $10 and Guitar Hero World Tour (game only/360) marked down to $39.99. Driving between home, work and IUPUI, I pass the Glendale, Nora, Castleton, North 31 and 116th St. Targets, so I'll try to keep the thread updated on those locations from week to week.

It's the last stoplight before the road curves to become Center Run Dr.

Or alternatively, coming from the 82nd street side, it's the cross street that has the Good Year store on the opposite side and the strip malls on the other (Center Run Dr.).

My unsolicited advice is to continue hitting the trail looking for other opportunities.Actually, the person who said that is someone we know in the family (who is in charge of hiring). Technically, they haven't been taking resumes or had any job postings for quite a while. He's the entire reason my resume is with them because my Dad was golfing with him, told him I was still looking for a job, and he said he'll take the resume. It's not one of those companies I don't know the people at very well and was applying to (like other jobs I applied for).

Now if this was a company I barely know who said the same thing (like a local company I applied to 10 or so positions before), then I wouldn't buy it.

Ah. Lucky you beat me to that one. That's the Target that is a couple minutes from my office. Clearance stuff tends to sell quickly there. If something gets cheap enough, then it sells to me.

Mana Knight: It would have to be a darn good job in Miami. Cost of living there is insane. A house that costs $150,000 in Indy will be $1.5 million in Miami. An apartment that is $500-1,000 a month here will be $3,000-5,000 a month there. There are definitely affordable places to live in Florida, but Miami isn't one of them. Check out central and northern Florida. Orlando is very affordable.

Next I went to check out Deals which is right across the street from the Best Buy to see if they had those $3 original Xbox games, but they either didn't get any or they sold out quick. I checked the entire store, including the food aisle just to make sure, no dice.

Hey guys, my sister was in there the other day and said she seen these so, I just went and found them. They are right behind the registers on the left hand side of the Greenwood Deals. I went ahead and bought 1 of everything for the heck of it. So here is what they had, and they are all Original Xbox games.

Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow
Spy Hunter 2 (I got the last one :P)
Pulse Racer
High Rollers Casino
Knight's Apprentice: Memorick's Adventures
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 (Platinum Hit box)
Dead To Rights (Platinum Hit box)
Power Drome
IHRA Motorsports Drag Racing 2004
IHRA Motorsports Professional Drag Racing 2005
Kelly Slaters's Pro Surfer
Defender

So if anyone is interested in those they had quite a few of most everything. :)

Stopped by the local Meijer in Castleton and saw that Grand Theft Auto IV was dropped to $39.99.
One strange deal I saw there was for PS3s. If you buy one they give you some piece of network equipment free. Was kind of confused on what they meant.
Also they still have two Collector Edition boxes of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King for $69.99.

Hey guys did, my rounds around Greenwood again today, here's what I seen. Hit up Circuit City even thought I knew they didn't have much of anything. Sure enough, they had no console games at all. Pc games were pretty slim pickings and were at 60% off. The store was really bare and I don't see it lasting much longer. Tv's were 40% off and not a lot of them left either. Next I hit up Best Buy. I seen last night in their rewards zone deals of the week, they have Mercinaries 2 (360) for $10. So I went and sure enough they had about 10 copies left. I went to check out the guy asked if I had a rewards card and he scaned it and the game and the total came to $32.xx. He seen my face and knew something was wrong and asked had I seen it cheaper, and I said ya I seen it on the net for $10, and sure enough he hit 1 key and it rang up $10. I thought that was a tad sly but regardless was happy with the outcome. For those of you intersted that deal only last until tonight (2/28), sorry for the late info but i just seen it yesterday myself. Next I hit up the Target clearance. Nothing tickled my fancy there. They had about 3 copies of Tomb Raider Underworld (360) for $29.xx, 1 copy of The Last Reminant (360) for $29.xx, 1 copy of Unreal Tournament 3 (360) for $19.xx and a DS game which slips my mind atm. That was all they had gaming wise in the clearance area. I'm watching the Underworld and Last Reminant, but they are still rather new and I feel with time these will drop lower than $30. So all I walked away with from the day was Mercs 2. Hope this helps you guys, and happy hunting.

The Circuit City in Columbus had a few 360 games left at 60% off. I didn't pay much attention but I did notice a bunch of copies of Halo 3 and a few collector's editions. Its pretty picked over.

Great recaps Tallboy and Trollsmeesh. Thanks!

If any Indy CAGs spot some SFIV fightpads (PS3) in stock somewhere, please post. I doubt I'll have any luck, but I'm attributing my suckiness in the game to not having the right accessory.

I'm also looking for the fightpads for either system if someone comes across them.

Had a small brawl in the Greenwood CC this afternoon. Some guy got all crazy just because the prices were too high in his opinion. Cops were called after they made a quick getaway. He's lucky he didn't get choked out by one of the other associates there.

Checked the Castleton Target on my lunch. Last Remnant dropped from $41.98 to $29.98 and they had one left. Everything else was still at the $20 and $30 points with no drops that I noticed. There were about half as many games as were there last week (quantity, not titles), so someone's buying them at those price points.

I go to that Target weekly...people pretty much always grab the games before they hit 75% off. Only recent exceptions I've seen were Singstar games and Drilldozer. I went just about every day a couple months ago when they were clearancing out Wii games I wanted...never got to the magic 75% off number and I didn't need them bad enough to pay the 50% off price. Even food that is clearanced at that store seems to disappear at 15% off and never hits 30% off.

Well I noticed on a few of the games they had a like $4.99 sticker on them from Best Buy, so I'm guessing this is just what Best Buy can't sell. So I would assume that if they did get them from Best Buy, that they probably would have different games, but to be honest, I have no idea. I noticed the Best Buy in Greenwood still had halo 1 and 2, and a few other original Xbox games so if they ever send those to deals, I wouldn't mind another copy of both haha. :P

Also guys, I was at the Walmart in kinda Greenwood/Southport (off of 31 and Shelby.) and they had a rack around where the layaway was in the back of electronics that said $10. They had a lot of various titles. I only really remembered the 360 ones. The were:

NBA Street Homecourt
Smash Court Tennis 3
Conan
The Golden Compass

Theres a few more 360 games I can't think of atm, but that had a ton of Wii games a few DS games thrown in there and don't remember seeing any PS3 games but there could have been, and a few Ps2 games I believe. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Pretty much cleared out. I was in Tuesday and the only gaming items I saw were a shitload of intercooler fans for the Wii. In terms of what else was left:
- a couple Blu-Ray HTIB sets for $400
- a handful of store display TV's left for 40% off
- a bunch of overpriced cords & cables
- some sets of outdoor speakers
- about 15 Memorex digital picture frames (bought one of these for myself)
- a bunch of car stereo installation kits
- maybe 25 CDs & 25 DVDs, tops
- some cell phone chargers
- a table of used office supplies (staplers, tape dispensers, etc)

That's all I can remember. All in all, I was happy to get the digital picture frame for 70% off, but everything else sucked.

Panasonic 50" are gone folks. Someone came in yesterday afternoon and bought them ALL. I can't blame him. They were only 1100 a piece.

When I left today at 2pm, someone was going to buy the last two TVs but he hadn't shown back up by the time I left.

I ended up buying the Sony Upscaling 5 disc DVD/CD changer for $65. I think that's about it for me. Nothing really left except for the 12" Touchscreen HP laptop but it's still over $800. I might strike a deal with the liquidator if it's still there after closing Sunday night.

As for the two people that assaulted CC employees over the week, they were both apprehended and charged as of Wednesday night.

Thanks for the update. $1100 is good, but not astoundingly so. I snagged the same TV at Best Buy in December for $1500, but they were giving out a $150 gift card with it and the equivalent of $150 in reward zone certificates, which pretty much knocked it down to $1200 for me. Seems liquidation sales just aren't what they used to be. Nowadays, most everything's bought up at discount levels higher than Amazon's prices. I remember way back when Phar-mor (sp?) went out of business, I stocked up on VHS movies, CDs and games for like 1/5 of what you could buy them for anyplace else.

depascal22

I think the liquidators have perfected the psychology of a liquidation sale. You'll get some people that realize the prices are high and they either bitch about it or leave. Sadly, the majority of the people snatch everything up thinking they're getting a deal at 10% off. Luckily, I got to educate alot of people about Amazon, Newegg, and some of the other great sites on the web. It's a good thing the liquidation manager never heard me telling people to buy elsewhere.

To be fair, most of their business is through their books. The one in Greenwood has always kinda sucked on its game inventory (though I've picked up a couple decent guides there for $1... SMG, Phantom Hourglass), but it seems like the place is always packed full of people buying books. Considering they give $.25-$.75 per paperback (in my experience) and then turn around and sell them for half of whatever's on the cover, they probably do pretty well.

SMG, Phantom Hourglass), but it seems like the place is always packed full of people buying books. Considering they give $.25-$.75 per paperback (in my experience) and then turn around and sell them for half of whatever's on the cover, they probably do pretty well.

bad thing is they are opened right across the street from a boarders. and barns and noble.... many people in line were saying they were there just for the free bag and card ...seen alot of people just walk out as soon as they went in...

there was noone in line when i checkout and that was with probally over 150 people waiting before the store opened.. (many were looking)

i probally go back tomorrow and try to get another bag : ) and look at the 1.00 vhs tapes they had.. (saw them on the way out the door)

the worker said they would be more then happy to have my 200 DS/PSP games but for 3 to 8 bucks a pop i think i pass... LOL

Im shocked that with all of these 2nd hand stores noone followed what mcvans did with the Trade a game and pay xx

I would rather trade my game and give him 6 bucks to get a new game then give my game to them and pay 15 to get a game..

i would say within a mile or two we now have

This store.
Boarders
B and Noble
Disc replay (sells used movies games ect
2 pawn shops
mcvans
a another game trader next to golden corral
gamestop
blockbuster
(if they do buying) Toys r us
the FLEA market on speedway

so that is 10 to 12 places very close to one another and will be shocked if they all make it

wasnt there walk disc replay was going to open up more stores ? never seen a 2nd one open .

tomorrow coupon is 30% off
Saturday is 20% off
sunday is 50% off

i doubt i will shop there once the coupons disappear and probally just buy something on sunday if anything at all....

In order to give HPB a fair shake, I feel it is necessary to admit that the bulk of our sales are not from games but instead, as a previous poster has already stated, they come from books. And while we are located in the same general vicinity as two other major book stores and a number of other retail chains, it has never affected business in other locations. In fact, one of the Indy stores has a Disc Replay across the street and the owner of the place has mentioned publically that HPB has increased their business. It is simple economic competition in the end, really.

The other issue I have is we do not give any customer a price quote without seeing the merchandise. There is no ballpark figure or percentage that we give when we do our buys. Every employee is trained on running the buy counter and, because of that, every buy is handled differently.

Lastly, I want to reiterate that our sales are not really linked to games. I think people are hesitant to bring in their used CONSOLE games to us because they have so many other options. My belief is that many think "why should I sell my video games at a book store when I can sell them at a video game store?". Because of this and the sheer lack of console games we see come in on a daily basis, our game section is small and may have difficulty competing with some of the larger video game traders.

I do apologize your HPB experience left you with a sour taste in your mouth. This reply was only written to clear the air and encourage more people to try us out. If this is the wrong place to do it, please move it to the appropriate forum.

it really did not leave a sour taste in my mouth i was just hoping for something different....I do have a question though.. u say every buy is handled differently... Does that mean the quotes will be different or the same

That would be werid of someone offered 8 bucks for an item but then another worker says 5

i hope more people do go there and check it out at least once to see what its like but personally i think it was just too jammed tight... The store seemed like it was not big enough for what they wanted to do

do you work in the fort wayne one.,.. If so do you have to park behind the store and walk up all of those freaking steps...Saw around 30 cars parked behind the buliding and first thought that was people waiting in line...

ANd wonder who had to dressed up like that lizard thing today and hand out ballons : )

Every time I'm near HPB I make a point to stop in and check their game selection. I've found a few good deals. Pyschonauts on the Xbox for $3 and a couple of NES titles. Also, their used DVD selection is usually pretty good. I found a couple movies for my dad for Christmas that were in perfect condition.

I understand now. It is a smaller store and the opening day madness probably made it feel much, much smaller. I highly recommend coming in sometime next week and checking us out when there aren't as many people there.

And yes, the quotes are different each time. If you bring in your merchandise today for an assessment, it might not be the same if you bring it in the following day. We each have our own system of doing buys and what Employee A finds appealing and interesting, Employee B might not see it in the same way.

Yes, I work at the Fort Wayne store. In fact, I'll be leaving here in about 20 minutes to head in for the day. Just for the time being all employees are parking behind the stairs and walking up the steps to get in the store. It is kind of inconvenient but I could use the exercise so that I feel less guilty about my Rally's addiction.

And the bookworm...

Chances are I will be in that costume by the end of the day.

one more nice fine was KINGDOM HEARTS 2 Greatest hits for 3.00

I saw the KH2 when I went on Monday. The disc was absolutely destroyed. Good luck getting that to work.

When I stopped by on Monday I picked up a 98 cent copy of Shinobi for the Sega Master System and a massive Fallout 3 guide. $8 for the guide was kind of expensive, but it's one that I'll definately get some use out of.

went back today and will say its a lot nicer when the crowd isnt not that big...

got another 5 buck gift card (will keep it till sunday 50% off coupon)

i noticed they were not handing out coupons today : (

people must be selling stuff yesterday cause i seen a few new games out toady..

p.force for the psp 14.98 way over priced

might go back saturday and sunday and try to get 2 more 5 buck cards

figured so far grabbed 10 bucks so that KH 2 and animal crossing so far only put me 6 bucks out of pocket

Say 5 for animal crossing and 1 for KH 2

overall from today to yesterday i like the store more cause it was less crowded... and that bookworm thing freaks me out LOL

To me I'd pick up just about anything for $10 lol. But its not a bad 3rd person shooter. Very interesting game and would make a decent mulitplayer game if anyone ever played it. Thats kind of odd though, I went there last Monday and Target had no 360 games at all, wonder how that one snuck back in, hmm.

There are plenty of hibachi places. I know of one in the Greenwood section of Indy and there's a couple downtown on Illinois St. I believe. If you walk around Circle Center Mall, you really can't miss most of the good downtown joints.

Jillians and Mikado in downtime Indianapolis. Benihana is on the North side in the Keystone at the Crossing complex. They are all chain, but all fine.

There is a locally owned place called Ginza on 38th Street near Lafayette road. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for all the replys thusfar. What malls would you all suggest visiting?

Anything you think of in indy thats particuarly neat or you enjoy? I grew up south of Chicago but have lived in Fort Wayne for the last 10 years or so. I am sure in a larger city like that there are unique things to consider that you might not even think about living there that smaller cities just dont have. Museums, theater, unique shops or locations.

Like one of the days I will be there will be my birthday so there probably are a few "places to be" on ones birthday in indy for atmosphere, free meal or just uniqueness.

If I am bothering anyone with these questions sorry and let me know. Just this is the best place I reguarly visit to drain knowledge =P Again thanks all for any replies you can offer. Pm me if you would prefer but posting here might help someone else too.

For Birthday options one cannot beat Fastimes Indoor Racing. I dont know what their birthday special is, but they do have one. In terms of restaurants, I dont know if a local one that does anything special. Honestly, Hooters, might be the best in terms of pomp and circumstance.

As for your general time, the IMA is free, and the other museums are reasonably priced. I sometimes go to the Children's Museum with my fiancé, just for the fun of it. The IRT is the best theater in town, but the other smaller shops are nice too.

Have fun, feel free to ask more questions if you are looking for somethign specific.

Started off as usual at Best Buy. Didn't see any new changes really. Only thing notable was that they had 2 bins right behind the check out lanes and 1 had $9.99 on it and the other had $14.99 on it. They had a lot of various titles in both bins. The only $10 game for 360 was Beowulf and the only $15 they had there was Kengo: Legend of the 9. I don't recall any PS3, there was a few psp, ds, wii games and quite a few ps2. Nothing in there interested me too much, but if your curious stop by. I walked away empty handed. Next I hit up Target had a few clearance games since the last time I checked. They had MLB Manager for $27.98 for 360 with 3 copies and Afro Samuri behind the glass with mulitple copies for $41.98, PS3 had Singstar: Abba for $9.98 about 8 copies, Rock Revolution for $4.98 with 1 copy. They also had a couple ps2 games for I believe under $15 but I don't recall what they were. I walked away empty handed as well. Lastly, I met up with Trollsmeesh at K-Mart and snaged Dead or Alive 4 for $20 and X-Men: The Offical Game for $4. So hope this helps you guys around G-Wood.

It's quite possible, what time was it?

Was the guy that checked you out a short kid with longish brown hair? If not, it could have been Matthew(Taller pale guy with short brown hair) or Greg(Taller older guy with red hair).
