Post any deals you find locally in Indiana in here. When posting deals, post your location and store along with the deal itself.

I believe Game XChange over in West Lafayette has slashed most of their prices on Sega Saturn games in recent memory. I picked up Bust-a-Move 2 and Darius Gaiden for $7.50 a pop and noticed that they used to be $15 apiece. Granted, most of the Saturn titles they have left are pretty generic (and expensive, really), but who else has Saturn games nowadays?
They're wonderful for the classics (I should have picked up Magic Sword) but their prices are a bit on the high side for most items. Still, if you want to find more uncommon and, in some cases, rare old games, they're worth checking out.
If anyone has any tips or deals around the Bloomington area, please throw something my way. I love the EB out here, I'm sort of ambivalent about the GameStop, and the BestBuy pretty much makes me cry when it comes to game stock and deals.

It's nice to see another from West Lafayette, right here.:)
Well, I'm currently living in West Lafayette, since I go to college at Purdue. On some weekends and all breaks, I will be in my hometown, which is Fort Wayne. I'll keep a close watch on the deals, like I usually do.;)

Actually slidecage, it's a different store. I remember the Game Xchange that was in Video Stop, but the one in Lafayette is completely different. It's actually a very good used game store with decent prices, and a ton of used games across most every console. It's a pretty large store too. It's my itself, not withing a video store. I haven't been there in several weeks though.

How to describe it...I go to IU Bloomington so I was really in the area only once so far. Basically it's on the large stretch of road that pretty much contains every major store and eatery you can think of, the one with the Super Target and the Olive Garden and so forth. The Game XChange is in a small shopping center along with a large pizza place and some other stores as well. Let's see if I have the address on me still...

I remember the location of GameXchange is you're basically turn where you see KFC, which I go to all the time.:D
I believe there's two locations of Game Xchange, but they are both on the Lafayette side. West Lafayette just has an EB Games, which is a short walk from where I live.

I'm currently attending Purdue here in West Lafayette! Nice to see another Boilermaker here!:D
But I have no car and taking the bus takes way too long, not to mention the bus system sucks balls so I'm pretty much out on any deals. Plus, this doesn't sound like much of a deal...:P

I have a question for you guys. Do you know of any independent games stores in or around Fort Wayne, besides McVans? McVans is usually overpriced for my tastes. All the other game stores are the major ones. 4 EBs, 2 GS, and 2 GC. I'm trying to find a store with some cheap saturn and other classic stuff.

I believe there is another video game store, where one location is somewhere around the SE side of town, because I saw a commercial to it. However, it was a long time ago, so who knows if its still there. You're exactly right about McVan's. I stopped going there years ago due to their ridiculous prices. Years ago, they weren't too bad, since I could do trades for a decent price. Now, they look high because I can pay the same price to trade in a game, as to buy a new game at EB.

I know exactly what you mean with McVans, they can be pretty expensive. I would like to know of any other places as well, since I go to Ft. Wayne on the weekends I'm home from school. I might have to check out the GameXchange here in WL too.

Well, last week there wasn't anything interesting going on as far as hard drive deals were concerned. I think the best "deal" was at Best Buy where some external drive was at around a $1.10 per GB ratio, which is fairly poor. Considering the only major electronics stores around here seem to be Best Buy and maybe that PC store in the shopping center across the street with Borders and whatnot, there aren't too many places to pick up parts for decent prices.

If you need Donkey Konga bongos for a cheap price the EBGames in College Mall in Bloomington has at least two of them for $12.99 apiece. Last I checked was on Monday but Used Peripherals take a lot of time to sell in that location. Shame, too, since they have some sickening deals (ie: some Dreamcast controllers for $0.99, PS/PS2 Dance Pads for $9.99, great carrying cases for PS1/PS2 for $9.99, etc.)
Just giving a heads-up. I'd grab a few myself but shipping them home would end up costing me around $18 or $19 in the long run and that's just too much at the moment. Enjoy the savings!
Also...since I probably won't jump on it myself, ask whoever is working there if they still have Vanguard Bandits for PS1 for $17.99 in the back. They had their Used PS1 sheets out in the store a month ago and it was among a bevvy of titles not actually in the front of the store itself. If nobody picked it up, it's a great game at a fantastic price that I can't jump on at the moment either. Well worth your while, if you enjoy strategy/RPGs!

Hey guys, I just joined CAG.
I'm in Ft. Wayne here. Originally from near Muncie (Ball State).
If you're in Muncie, check Dave's Video & Tan. It's in the strip mall near Marsh's supermarket close to the Muncie Mall. The selection is usually a bit dated, but they tend to have lots of used titles and accessories cheap. They take DVD & CD trade-in's from the college students, but I think most of the games are from their rental business. Things could have changed in the last year or so since I've been there. Used to be a great place for last years games, GBA stuff, and extra controllers and memory cards.
Any good deals in Ft. Wayne lately?
I'm on the lookout for a used or cheap original GBA for my wife right now.
I think if I can, tonight I'm going to hit EB, Babbages and KB at Glenbrook here in Ft. Wayne.

mcvans is a major rip off.. They will offer you 10 bucks for your game and turn around and sell it for 40.. Go to one of their stores if you want a good laugh.. They got games in there USED for 38 when you can get them Sealed at eb or another game store for 20...

I hit Target:
On the discount encap near the pet supplies, they have a few copies of "Feel the Magic: XY XX" for $10. They also had two copies of Darkstalkers for PSP for $15.
The video games endcap had a few GC titles for $15 (Winnie the Pooh, and some Greatest Hits type stuff, nothing great) There were more copies of "Feel the Magic" there as well.
The bin at KB Glenbrook was wiped out, 4 or 5 Xbox sports titles left.
EB in the mall looks like they marked down some GBA games to clearance, put a bunch of carts into the $9.99 - $15.99 range. They're probably listed in the that thread on the main part of the messageboard.

I'll pass on the GBA. Babbages at Glenbook had the pink one (for the wife) and after I told them I was planning on changing out the screen cover because it was scratched, they did it for me! The lady manager swapped it with another cover from stock while I waited.
BTW, good deal on a GBA, they're only $20 there...but they only had a few left.
If the screen is too scratched you can change it out with a kit from Nintendo for about $4.
EB @ Jefferson Point has some GB Color battery packs and cases for $1-$4.

The EB @ Jefferson Pointe is normally where I am, since I live on the SW side of Fort Wayne. I still have my old GBC.
I was surprised Babbages at Glenbrook let you change the GBA, because I've had way too many bad experiences with them over the years; however, that was probably 50 employees ago (Not sure if it will be noticed, but almost every time I went there over the past 6 years, there's a new employee working there, while there has been several different managers).

I usually check out the EB at JP, I used to work there nights after my day job...that was about 2 yrs ago, right after they opened. Sherri is the manager there. She's normally pretty good. She's expressed some interest about posting deals on here, but she's not so computer savvy. Of course the company sets the prices, so sometimes it's good deals, and sometimes it sucks. I get the Edge card for $5 and tend to haunt the used bins and GBA stuff.
Today's find -I scored a MS Sidewinder stick for $1.50 at Goodwill.
Goodwill on Jefferson had:
Metroid Prime for $5 and $10, new (yes two different prices).
A Wingman stick for $15.
Some Yugioh game and Tron2.0 for GBA for $5 each.
They had a used copy of Sims2 PC, I think it was $10.
A copy of...um...I can't remember the name...horror survival game about kids in a high school...for $4.50, used.
A handful of Colecovision and Atari carts, and 1 stray Tengen NES title for $0.50 to $3.00.
The games are all up front in the case or a bin.
They also had an accessory pack and some charging stand/attachable speakers for PSP for $15 each, on a shelf in the front.
WalMart has some 3pk of racing games for $10, near the games case on an endcap, It was Ford Racing 3 and two other titles I wasn't familiar with...for PSP.

I remember that EB getting a used copy of Gitaroo Man and Valkyrie Profile in, when they first opened (for a good price), and I bought them. I see her just about everytime I got to EB and I've bought multiple games from her. I believe she recognizes me. When there was a deal to trade in three games, and get GT4 for free, I was the one who asked her about the deal, and she didn't know. I ended up bringing her a receipt from some CAG member printed off, then she tested to see if the deal worked, and it did. She was pretty surprised too.

Hah. Yeah, if you find a weird deal like that, it'll usually work. EB is really weird about how they distribute the news of new promos...they'll be running 3 or 4 at a time and they overlap. They send all the messages to the stores where they print from e-mail to this log book...so it's really easy to miss one of them when it comes across. (dumb...e-mail only available as hard copy)
As for Goodwill, They get games from Target when they go off discount there. Target dumps them to Goodwill after they leave the endcap discount. There's a thread on the main page about it.

I wish I could help but the only major game store chains in the area are pretty much...well, Best Buy and EBGames further down 3rd Street where 45 cuts across 3rd. I don't think there are any independent stores down in the direction you normally head but I'm still sort of new here and I tend to mostly spend my time around the College Mall area (lack of car = lack of adventure).

Target Update - This is the one at Glenbrook. Was in there this morning.
On the clearance isle down past the CD's near pet supplies:
2 x Darkstalkers PSP - $15
2 or 3 copies of Feel the Magic & Ping Pals for DS - $10
1 copy Final Fantasy: Tatics for GBA -$12.99 (I think...maybe 14)
On the games endcap, plenty of copies of Sprung, Ping Pals, and Feel the Magic all for $10.

Warning: They moved the Clearance section again for the second time in the past week. It's now on the end of aisle section as you head from Games over towards Food on the other side of the store. Just keep your eyes focused on the right hand side, right after the end of aisle display for the cheap crap musical instruments.

The local Family Video here in Evansville have had a great sale on for the past couple of weeks. They are selling their ex-rental games at $9.99 each. (which isn't bad considering the store has only been open a couple of months, so the condition of the games are pretty good)
I grabbed Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Gran Turismo 4. They also had Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban, Call Of Duty Finest Hour, Dead To Rights II, Goldeneye Rogue Agent, Brothers In Arms (first one) and a few other good games for the PS2.
I noticed they also had Halo 2, NFSU2 and Merceneries for X-Box and Picmin 2 for the Cube. (I don't own those systems, so I can't say if they had more)
Unfortunately they put the sale on their big sign on the main road so a lot of the titles could be gone now. Just thought I would pass on the info

Target near glenbrook has some games hidden on an endcap.
Face the electronics counter from the front, turn left, head to the wall, they're on the 2nd cap on the left. They have Half-Life 2, several PSP games, and a couple of misc GC games all for half off discount price.
I didn't have my pda so I didn't catch all the prices. I think the PSP stuff was marked 18.99 and would be half off that. I think HL2 was 26.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection (PS2)
Astro Boy Omega Factor
Boktai
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb (Xbox)
Counter-Strike
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 (Think I got the last one though)
There were many others though.

You Fort Wayne guys need to get up to Kendallville and check out the Kendallville Pawn Shop. It's right on main street, just north of the railroad tracks. They've got tons of games and lots of cheap systems too. Definitely worth the 30 min drive.
And you lafayette guys, don't forget the OTHER Gamerush in town (south of Purdue campus) I stop in there every now and then and always seem to find good stuff.
As far as game eXchange, they're a great store, don't forget that they have a Kokomo location too (also a game crazy and EB down there too).

Yes, they had a quality selection, they did! I grabbed a copy of Xenosaga 2 myself and Astro Boy. I'm heading back over there in a few hours to check the rest of the stock.
If anybody really, really wants I'll make a list of what they have. Just specify what titles you would like or what system and I'll list like there's no tomorrow.

Same here. $10 is the perfect price point! Last time I was there (I think around Thursday) they had another three copies, I believe, but I don't know if there are any more over there. I'm planning on heading over in about...ugh...30 minutes when I'm done folding this laundry.

Got back from Sam Goody in College Mall, Bloomington, IN a few hours ago. They started tossing new titles in the bin and doubled the bin's overall size! Here are some of the more memorable titles that they have left...
PS2
Get on Da Mike [Decent Trade-In Fodder, Comes With Microphone I Believe]
Astro Boy (Decent Game for $9)
Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
XBox
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Counter Strike
OutRun
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (Located in XBox Section)
Xenosaga II seems to be out of stock, along with X-Men Legends (XBox) from the other day. Still some additional quality titles in the bins, though. I don't think there are any Karaoke Revolution games around the store, though. I'll be checking again tomorrow just for Karaoke Revolution so if you happen to see a few copies try and save one for me, if you would be so kind. :D
By the way, Target added more games to its Clearance section and tried hiding the games on the side. There are now around 14 copies of Sprung for $10, 2 copies of Samurai Legend Musashi for $14, 2 copies of OutRun (didn't look at price), 3 copies of Donkey Konga 2 (no bongos) for $17 (crap price), and a few others.

lol at my Xbox 360 look
Went over to target by the mail at 759am noone in parking lot outside so i went WOW might have a chance. Walk in the doors to the back of the gaming part. 70+ people in the store all had tickets in hand (seems target changed their mind about giving out presell tickets this morning fucking liars last night on the phone said first come first serve ) They ran out of tickets around 6am
so for fun i drove over to best buy at northcrest... once again no line to find out they gave out tickets to people and they was all gone by 4am along with the coupons was gone by 5am
love how best buy kept saying they was getting 300 per store when in fact they only got 30 per store
would of though an xbox 360 would been eaiser to find then the ps2
funny part is i was ripping apart their war of the worlds display at target when someone asked what i was doing i said looking for the book... They do umm thats at Best buy .... DOH!!!!!!!!!!!
im going to hit TRU at 9am for the green tag sale and Best buy right after that to see if they put out any more game coupons (i just wanted the coupons)

Super K in Portage worked out for me! My friends and I got there at about 10:30 last night, they handed out tickets at 11. About ten minutes later they had to re-issue tickets, seems the original roll was defective and repeating numbers... Anyway we all got new numbers then at midnight the drawing started. They had 10 premiums and 7 core systems to hand out. Well my friend got called next to last so I came home with a core system. I know I'll end up paying a hole bunch more when I buy all the crap I need, but oh well, I got one!

man people were PISSED at TRU.... they said they would not do any preorders.. first come first serve. Well it seems the manager felt sorry for the people standing outside at 4-5am in the morning and handed out presale slips to those people... they had around 10-15 xbox system just sitting on the floor but they said they cant sell them cause only the person with the slip could buy them....
also Dont grab the Gamepro Xbox 360 mag in the back of the BB store. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE COUPONS (10 off 30 buck game) I Grabbed 3 thinking it was the mag... I think everyone else did as well cause they only had 4 left
What has to piss more people off , i hope many people didnt go to Best buy to get WAR OF THE WORLDS BEFORE 10am... The workers was telling people the 24.99 deluxe set had that free 200 page book well when i was checking out some manager came and tossed 10 books on each check out telling people these are the free books with the movie... I saw at least 5 -10 people standing in line around 910Am probally thinking that Free book was in the DVD case like the workers was telling people
it looked like a nice book but im not going to pay 15-25 bucks for amovie just for the freee book

I was at that pawn shop in FW near the Munchie/Mad Anthony's yesterday. They had a PSOne for $20, Plat Gamecube for $50. PS2 Broadband adapter for $10, slim PS2's for $100.
It's probably on the EB thread...but the GB Micro just dropped to $89. I got one last night at EB in Glenbrook. I must say I love that system. The screen is way better than my old SP, and I think the new buttons have a better feel.

That would be Loansum pawn. They never have anything good gamewise since there are 2 gamestops and and EB about 5 miles away. If anyone wants good pawnshop deals in NW IN, check out Pawn King in Portage and Merrillville, EZPawn in Hammond, and maybe Lair's in Portage, but stay away from the Ameripawns and Cash Indiana's, they seem to be the most on the ball regarding games. You can blame me for that Ameripawn part. ;)
also, in portage/hobart on the SE corner of Rt 51 & US 6, there's a little store called Video Palace that you can sometimes find great deals on newer games.
And one more, there's a guy selling games in the Market City flea market in Merrillvile (about 2 blocks south of ridge road on US 55/Cleveland) he's in the back right part of the building and usually has at least a few really good deals

Mom and pop stores? I don't know too many nor have I heard of places that have good inventory. There's this one video game shop on the West Side near a Best Buy but I can't vouch for them.

Yeah to be honest there's not many local places around and the ones that are don't have anything more unusual than most EBs/Gamestops. Here's a couple though:
Fun Station on 82nd St
Game World on 82nd St
McVan's in Fishers
And there used to be someplace called House of Games or something over on Washington St.
I know McVan's is probably still there, but I haven't been to any of the others in at least a year so not too sure about them.

I just got a new lead in the Muncie area.
Ok, now I haven't been there in a few years, so it's hard for me to describe. On the north side of McGalliard, near what used to be the Target/Marsh location where Bethel meets McGalliard. There is an IHOP there now. Go in there and turn left at the first stop sign. Head down that little side street to near Bank One / Chase is. There is a little plaza full of shops. I guess this new gaming store is in there where Subway used to be on the East side.
My brother lives near there...says they're not getting much business, so everything is 30% off right now. He was looking at $51 Gamecubes. I'm not sure how long they'll be open, because apparently they're not enough traffic at that location.

Stopped by a couple of the TRUs in Indy tonight. Didn't have a list on hand, but a few games in mind so I could update with the stock, at least somewhat.
East Washington
The place was a mess. Games weren't in order from what I could make out. They did have plenty of MGS3s and about 4 RE4s (empty cases at least) still out. Transformers was also in stock, can't remember much else of note there, though.
Lafayette Road
I thought the first was a mess. The games weren't even in the holders. They were stacked behind haphazardly, so it looks like a mess of people ravaged the games area. All I could remember were Fable, Rise To Honor (in some cardboard standee), Cold Fear (over by the cashiers), but I really didn't look much. The place was a real mess.
If anyone else has updates on the Castleton and Greenwood one, that'd be great, so I don't have to run down there tomorrow. I'll be sure to look over the list and make note of what specifically is in and out of stock.

Sorry, I haven't checked this thread in a while.
Well, on Thursday, the day the TRU sale started, I did go past the TRU on Washington Square, but did not go in. I did however, stop by the one in Caslteton. I didn't have a list with me either, but I was able to find many of the things on the list, at the store. There was a big bin of $9.98 games, but they were games that have already been discounted a while ago. It had some decent games in there, such as Metroid Fusion. All the games that were on the list as marked down, that TRU didn't put a new price tag saying the games were $9.98. I asked the cashier to scan Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits and Metal Slug 4/5 for me, and it rang up at $9.98. Too bad I didn't have a list, since I saw a ton of other things there I would have bought. They did have a ton of games at the Castleton location, but things might have change, since then.
I was back in the Caslteton area 5 days ago, but I didn't stop by TRU.

I did end up checking all four Indy TRU locations (not that it matters now), but you're right. The Castleton location had, by far, the best selection of the TRUs here and organized, too. Well, about as organized as TRUs tend to get. Some were marked, they did have the bins, as you said, but the bigger games, thankfully, were unmarked and still on the shelves.

I just saw the list and I'm surprised the one in Lafayette, IN isn't closing. The reason is, that's the only TRU I've seen that never remodeled, where you buy games by taking a ticket up to the cashier, then picking the game up at the front of the store.
I'm not sure if the one on 38th Street in Indy is like that, since I never went there before. I might stop by there, as time goes by. I'd have to look on a map for it, since I never been around that area.
SteveMcQ

All the TRUs in the Indy area don't go by the ticket system anymore (except for preorders). Unfortunately, that makes them really badly organized, with the worst offender being the Lafayette Road TRU. I think the last TRU here that did the ticket sytem w/ games was the Washington Street one.
The 38th and Lafayette Rd. TRU is pretty difficult to spot since it's not right next to the road. It's behind a McDonald's on 38th street. You can spot the sign from the road though.

For any Fort Wayne CAGs, the goodwill on Dupont has a ton of comic books for $0.50 each. It looks like someone dropped off an entire collection. There was easily a hundred there. Atleast 90% of them protective bags. I only picked up two called Gen 13. I had heard something about that one. There was a ton of X-Men comics. I would have picked up one of those, but there are several different X-Men series and I don't know where to start with those. I saw in there x-men, x force, sandman, Iron Man, JLA, and even a handful of star trek comics.

I saw in there x-men, x force, sandman, Iron Man, JLA, and even a handful of star trek comics.
probally only place they they could dump them and take a tax loss on them,...i went over to the comic book store over on jeffereson few weeks ago to find out there was a Major comic book crash around 2001 making 90% of books not worth keeping anymore
i had a few gems witchblade issue 1 what fetched like 50 now was only grabbing i was told 5 bucks...
all the batman books around issue 500 (where he got his back broke) goes for less then buck an issue used to be around 50 for some of them
even all the SPAWN comics are worth nothing anymore

Yea, I doubt there was any valuable stuff in there. I was just posting for anyone interested in picking them up. I just want to read them. I'll likely be going back when I have some more money.

careful getting older books that havent been touch for awhile as well... around 5 years ago i was picking up books down at the libary and picked up this older comic book and there had to be around 100 book worms crawing around in the book (i think they was bookworms --- little white worms )

I went back to the Castleton TRU and they had Geist marked down finally.
Making my haul a couple copies of Geist, RE4, and single copies of GTAxb, Polarium, Baiten Kaitos, and Doom3 LE.
Anyone interested in a local trade? I'm interested in Zelda Four Swords, KOFxb, and Boomerman DS.
Any takers? A good chance to save on some shipping costs.

I got mine at the Lafayette Road TRU. The RZone employee there was actually the one to point out that Geist was $10 before I rang it up as it wasn't yet marked and the other employee wasn't aware.
He looks like Craig from Malcolm in the Middle, too.
LOL. He looks EXACTLY like Craig. That's a riot. Better than the scary toothless woman over on East Washington. Yikes!

Has anyone been able to find an Xbox 360 in stock anywhere around Indy? I'm almost convinced that I should finally get one, but calling every store and driving around is pretty much a waste of time, considering you have to be in the right place at the right time to get one. Anyone have any luck (where and when)?

The Toys R Us on 38th St is on the list of stores closing. 20% off games, 40% off video game accessories right now
Not Much Left though

Even 360 accessories and games are cleared out huh? I'll check it out tomorrow and see what's there to scavenge.
I picked my 360 up unexpectedly at the Best Buy in Greenwood. This was the Thursday after Christmas and I stopped in to buy Midnight Club 3. The guy working there was walking/parading around with the stock that just came in (this was around 630-7pm) so I went ahead and bought it.
He told me they usually get their stock in during that timeframe, but as for other stores, I haven't had one single sighting of it on shelves.
Edit: As the other poster stated, the TRU at 38th street is pretty barren as far as 360 accessories go. No more wireless controllers. They only have a handful of wired controllers (max of 10 as of 3 pm Thursday afternoon), S-Video Cables, and Component Cables. They've also got a few faceplates and three 3-month live kits left.
There's lots of GCN, PS2 and Xbox games left though.
As for 360 games, all out of DOA4 now. Only ones left were Ridge Racer 6, PDZ (reg and LE) King Kong, Gun, and THAW as far as I can remember.
Talked to the worker there (the Craig Malcolm-look-alike) and he said store is looking to be closed between April and May...quite a ways off.

Those places probably were trashed because some clown who posted in the main deal thread said he went to all four TRUs the morning of the 22nd and got $800-$900 worth of $10 games.
Looks like we now have an early-bird hoarder in the Indy area. Deals in general are going to get harder to find with that guy around. :/
Bah, that was me and I didn't trash any stores. I got most of my games at the 38th St. store and had the manager walking around with me helping me pick out stuff because the store was empty. The shelves were a mess because of Christmas and he apologized for it. Between the two of us, we found most of the 70 or so $10 games on my list that I wanted, and yah, I grabbed extras of some of the better games and traded most of them on GTZ. I actually went back several days later and found some more games I wanted hidden behind other stuff, like The Sims games my wife wanted. A week or so later they finally had the shelves all organized but it wasn't that hard because they had pretty much been gutted by Christmas shoppers.
I stopped by the store last week to grab some discounted accessories and picked up Chess Master as well. There's some stuff there I'll pick up if it hits 50% off, like the DDR bundle and Kinetix for my wife, but most of the good PSP and DS games will probably be long gone by that time as the video game department was almost emptied already. They still had Xbox 360 controllers at 40% off if some one wants those. And the PS2 remote for under $2 wasn't a bad deal. Also, I grabbed a set of portable speakers for around $10 that work very well with my PSP and run on AA batteries. They really help to amplify the PSP's low sound volume. Now I just need to find some amplified headphones.

Castleton got restocked on games a couple weeks ago. They had 0 copies of the Grand Theft Auto double pack on the first day of the sale and like 30 copies of it when I stopped in. I guess they could have come from the back. Unfortunately, I paid $20+ for a used copy of that game at Game Rush and couldn't return it.
I also found a copy of King of Fighters for Xbox there that wasn't there during the first day as I'd been looking all over for it.

Just as an aside, on the first day of the sale, I bumped into another CAGer in Castleton buying up games to trade into Blockbuster...he was looking for different games than me because at that point I'd never traded in a game in my life. He asked me if I was going to buy some game in the display case that trades in high because I was in front of him in line and I said no, I wasn't interested. Was that a lurker or one of you guys?

Heh, that's the manager of the Rzone at that store...I've talked to him several times. He's pretty cool and likes me because I let him look at my list of $10 games so he could pick up a bunch for himself. He's mostly into PSP stuff, so he grabbed one copy of Dead 2 Rights and I got the other copy that first morning of the sale.

The problem with comics from the 90s is that people were buying them up in multiple quantities, putting them in plastic, not reading them, and thinking they would go up in value if they hung onto them long enough. The reason old comics are valuable is because they're rare, especially in mint condition. People used to throw them away. The same thing is true in the video game world...there are more collectors saving stuff back now, so while a sealed NES Zelda is worth $400, a sealed Zelda Four Swords will probably never be worth that because it will never be that rare of a sealed game with all the collectors these days.

Yah, I've seen them in stock at Game Rush in Avon, Best Buy, Target, Meijer, and Wal-Mart. I was in the 38th St. TRU one day and they had 8 in stock. If I'd noticed this thread, I would have mentioned it here. They didn't last long when they were going for a bunch of money on Ebay buy I imagine they will sit around longer now. Best bet would probably be to find out what day Target gets video game shipmens in (probably Tuesdays) and start calling around on Tuesday mornings. I'm not buying one anytime soon, I'm waiting for the Nintendo Revolution.

For any Fort Wayne CAGs, the temporary book store across the parking lot from TRU is closing. The guy there said they might be open till the end of the month and maybe into February. They have paperbacks for $2, audio books for $2, and hardbacks for $4.
I also noticed that the Sam Goody in the mall closed. I hadn't been in the mall for several weeks so I missed it. I wonder if they had a good clearance sale?

Damn, that was a lot of posts.
Anyway, that wasn't me that you ran into at the Castleton TRU. I only ended up picking up about four games for myself out of the whole deal.
There were still 360 controllers at the 38th Street TRU? I'm guessing those are the wired ones, right? Still a few of the 3 month starter kits for anyone looking.

Wired, probably, I didn't really pay much attention since I don't own a 360 and don't plan on getting one anytime soon.
Oh, that reminds me, I have a local Indianapolis deal...the Gamestop over on Raceway (same strip mall as a Game Rush) has used anime for 80% off and 50% off on certain New Gameboy, DS, and PSP games (however all the DS and PSP games were gone last time I went there, so either some one bought them all or they put them back to normal price and took them out of the bin (unlikely). I grabbed Yoshi DS, Pokemon Rush, Death Jr., and Frantix for $15 a pop. Also got Boktai for $7.50...their USED copies were more expensive...anyway, last time I checked they still had Wario Ware Twisted for $17.50 and a few other new Gameboy games in the half off bin but nothing that great. This is the same bin that has the 2/$10 PS2 games in it, right in the middle of the store.
SteveMcQ
01-27-2006, 01:17 PM
Yeah, they're wired since I picked up an extra one last weekend. Wanted to be sure in case you saw differently. The 80% anime is pretty damn good for those fans. Good looking out.

Thanks for the update on the 38th street TRU. I was wondering if they still had 360 controllers. I might go pick one up since I only have one right now. I think 40% off would make them around $24 each, right? Beats the heck out of $40.
$40 for a wired controller... that's a damn shame.

The GS at Glenbrook is closing? I didn't know that. Have they had any good sales? That would be interesting if we get a B&N on this side of town.
About the book place, the sci-fi and fantasy books are over on the left side of the store in a small unmarked section. I think I saw one or two Stephen King books. They also had a ton of Star Trek audio books.

However, when I went to the mall a few days later, they were closed.
From what I heard on the news, Glenbrook doubled their rates for leasing space, so many stores who leases were ended, didn't renew and left the mall, such as The Limited, Express, Sam Goody, and many other big stores. I hope Glenbrook doesn't start pissing off stores off because of this. They say there's more sapce wanted then needed, so that's why rates doubled, although I'm not sure if stores wanting space, wanted to pay that much anyway.
Well, if Glenbrook downfalls, I'm just going to make a 2 hour drive to the Castleton Square Mall (Close to Indy) or Westfield Shopping Centre (In NW Indiana).

I heard from a Sam Goody employee in Anderson this morning that all of the Simon Malls have doubled their lease rates and that every Sam Goody in their district is closing in the next few months because of it. When I moved up to Fort Wayne about seven years ago, I got an apartment near Southtown. That was the only time I visited that mall...Well, back in the 80’s, and early 90’s, Southtown Mall was booming, with around 40% of the mall business in Fort Wayne. There use to be a Kohl’s, Sears, JC Penney, L.S. Ayres, Service Merchandise, and many of the same stores as Glenbrook. I use to rarely go to that mall, mostly because I use to live on the Northside of Ft. Wayne on Mapplecrest Rd.

yea i used to like southtowm more then glenbrook back in the late 80s.. used to play a lot of video games in the arcades
Glenbrook
pro
they had 2 arcade rooms and had better prizes..
Con
we used to go with our grandmother who wouldnt take the elvator and couldnt walk down steps , so we was mostly just had to shop on the top level of the mall
mostly shopped around 10am to 1pm when our grandfather picked us up..
Southtown
Con
Only one arcade place and their prizes really sucked :)
Pro
every time we went to southtown we would mostly spend the entire day out there till my mother picked us up... would would go shopping from 10am to around 2pm and then watch a movie (this is what made southtown sort of neat that it had tha Theather built right into the mall)
And DUFFS they had the best food out there in the late 80s
one of the most funny things i remember at southtown is after DUFF went belly up another Food place move in there and was shut down a week later by the board of heath.
sadly last time i stepped foot into southtown was a few months before my grand mother died so it probally was around mothers day 1994
i still remember that Big foutain in the middle of southtown mall and that Chucky Cheese type pizza place they had in there...
personally if you took the arcades out, i like southtown a lot more then glenbrook
one last little note.. the people who Ruined the Southtown mall movie place. makes me sick and im glad that we never got the place.... We was around a few weeks into looking at the contract before that other dude took it over.... I mean what kind of pigs shit all over the walls

Anyone have any luck getting penny guides in Indianapolis? I got a Destroy All Humans from Best Buy in Avon but that's about it. How are the local EB Games and Game Stops about actually selling these at a penny? I've been buying them on this board for 3/$10 because it seems easier than searching all over for them, but there's a few that people don't want to sell cheap.

The cashier must be typing in the price then, because the penny price is in the system...the prices usually aren't YMMV...whether or not they'll actually sell them to you is very YMMV. Most stores won't sell the penny guides to you as they aren't supposed to.

Glenbook isn't a Simon Mall...I know because I tried to spend a Simon gift cert there once. I'd bet they're raising the rates to try to become more upscale to compete with Jefferson Pointe.
It also looks like they've taken a strategy of chopping up the big stores when they leave into more smaller spaces. They got rid of the "orchard" area, and made several smaller stores near the food court area in the last remodel.

To compete with Jefferson Pointe, that's kind of a laugh. I've seen Jefferson Pointe do well every once in a while, but the Mall doesn't really get too busy (paritially because of its tiny parking lot). I've been to Jefferson Pointe around the time it opened, and it seemed more busy before, than it is now.

That's so true. Most of the time whenever I have seen JP packed, it was because of one of those movies, that everyone and their mom wants to go see, was playing at the Rave. Any other time, it's got its fair-share of customers, but not as much as glenbrook.

Anyone in Fort Wayne score big on the BB guides? I went and only picked up two copies of Shadow of the Colossus. I'm debating if I should pick up more if there's any.

I've been watching new DK Bongos at North Vernon (southeastern IN) Goodwill. They started out at $25, went to $12.50 and today were $6. At $6 I decided to give them a try. This may have been the last one though. They also have a Madcatz beat pad for PS2, but it was $5 last I looked. I forgot to look today; it may be $5.
PS-Does anyone else hate the Columbus Circuit City? It's the most worthless store I've ever been to.

Glenbrook jacked up their rates so high that Babbage's will close tomorrow!! I was walking around earlier this morning and the employees were boxing up product.
They are closing the store, but it probably has something to do with the GameStop/Babbages buyout of EBgames. It would just be silly to have two of the same stores that close to eachother. I don't think they can pull off enough business as Starbucks to get away with the close proximity.

OK, I'll be heading up to around West Lafayette this weekend or so and I'm just wondering if there are any Circuit City locations, Best Buys, or local TRUs I should hit? I'll probably be getting up there a little after noon but my friends won't be free until later in the afternoon and I'll have time to kill. Any overall suggestions?
Check out GameXchange. They have tons of stuff that you wouldn't normally find, and it's locally owned. I always go there if I don't want to spend a fortune for games, guides, or movies.

I've been to GameXchange a few times. I've been able to find some Turbo 16 Grafx games there.

Any overall suggestions? The Circuit City and Best Buy are basically right next to each other. They're on U.S. 52, close to the Tippecanoe Mall. Toy's R Us is kind of hidden though, although it's basically across the Mall. That's a very old TRU though, because they still have the tickets to purchase games and it's really run-down.

I'd bet this is also because there is now an EB and Gamestop in the same mall...and they're owned by the same company.
I used to work at a chain that had non-compete rules where they would never put two stores within a mile of each other, and if one store moved or they built a new one, they would close or relocate the old one. They would often just transfer the employees.
I'd bet the EB is doing better business, and there are several in town, so they don't want to dilute the brand with a Gamestop. It also makes advertising cheaper, because they can just run one EB ad and it'll cover all the stores.

There's a store named Videogame Exchange in Kokomo...not sure if it's part of the same chain as the Lafayette store or not...I was there a few days ago while visiting my family (they all live in Kokomo/Greentown). They had pretty much every game for every system I could think of...huge inventory. Their prices on most stuff wasn't too bad...not cheap...but cheaper than the national chains. Saw Tengen Tetris for $25...most guides seemed to be around $6...lots of cheap Gameboy games. Noticed they had almost every big box PS1 game in the $6 range if anyone is collecting those. My brother trades/sells games there and they give decent prices. He traded in some Time Crisis games with the gun he got from Game Crazy and got like $27 cash each.
Also saw some stuff I don't see at the big chains much anymore: huge NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PSone selection. Even saw some Neo Geo pocket games and more obscure stuff.

I've been meaning to check that place out, but haven't really had the chance. (I live in Peru) Where is that store located, street wise.

A note to those that were going to go to the Gamestop I mentioned to check out the 50% off games...don't bother. I was there today and the kid that works there said that they got in trouble from corporate for doing that sale and they aren't going to be doing it again. I was finally going to grab Wario Ware Twisted too as it was still sitting there in the bin (but the 50% off tag was gone).

So I went to the TRU on 38th today...
I had forgotten how much of a ******* pit 38th street was and still is. Then I got to TRU and found out what a real pit looks like. From the outside you would think the building has been condemned for 20 years.
Anyway, there's not much left worth buying at the current prices. I went specifically for 360 stuff, but all they had were some faceplates (still too expensive at $12) and some standard AV cables. There was one memory unit behind the counter. They also had copies of THAW, Perfect Dark 0 standard and limited editions, one copy of Kameo, and some racing game I didn't care about. Also a few 3 months subscription cards on the floor and behind the counter.
Apparently they consider games with accessories included as games, and as such they're only 20% off. They still had plenty Donkey Konga, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, some dancing game for Xbox, and Taiko Drum Master, but they were only 20% off, so nothing too dramatic there.
Most of the console games left were junk. Some decent stuff in there if you haven't played them before, but nothing really great for the price. I couldn't tell if the former green tagged stuff was still ringing up at the green tagged price plus the 20% off, but they definitely weren't marked that way.
There were, however, plenty of DS games and a few DS systems. The sign said systems were 20% off (I only saw the DS and about a bajillion GB micros, no other systems). Lots of PSP games, too.
They also have four or five gray GC Wavebirds, $17.xx each. A decent pickup if you don't have one. I would have grabbed another, but the GC is basically dead and I never used it for multiplayer anyway.
Tons and tons of junk accessories. They have a lot of EA Sports Xbox controllers that I wouldn't use if I were paid to do so. Also a lot of bottom-tier, third party GC controllers in some sort of kit with some other garbage. And they have a boatload of old, crusty Xbox Live starter kits that come with Crimson Skies, so you know the codes inside are at least a year past expiration.
Guides are not apparently considered accessories, either. All "magazines" as they were labelled were marked at 20% off. They have 800 back issues of Nintendo Power if you're into that sort of thing.
Can't think of much more than that. The signs said all fixtures and furniture were for sale, but as far as I could tell, no one had claimed the GC kiosk or any of the promotional fixtures within the gaming department (almost all the glass cases, strangely enough, had been sold). I probably should have asked if that stuff was for sale, but I wasn't going to buy it even if it was.
And yes, that dude that works there does look like Craig. Even more so, though, he SOUNDS like Craig. Seemed like a really nice guy.

Yeah, "Craig" is a nice guy. He used to work at the Castleton TRU actually. Always amused me how he'd come around the corner and in that friendly "Craig" voice he'd ask, "So what brings you around our friendly neighborhood today? If you have any questions just let me know!" All he needs is that pharmacy get up and he'd be good to go as a replacement.
That lot TRU is on is terrible though. The big lot out front looks like it got hit by mortar shells.
Only one more 360 memory card huh? Might pick that up if they still have it when I go next time.

Ended up finding it the other day, corner of Lincoln and Rainbow.
Nice little store. Ended up picking up a cart only Final Fantasy Adventures (GB) for a friend. Got myself Silent Hill 2 (Xbox) and the Beyond Good and Evil strategy guide for around $16. Almost picked up the guide for Silent Hill (PS) but ended up passing it up. Kicked myself for it later, as the EB in Markland had a mint/complete copy of it, non GH to boot.

Trust me, I've tried to get the Gamecube Kiosk and the display posters and they won't sell them. Supposedly the Gamecube kiosks are going back to Nintendo, which is what other TRU employees have been reporting in the main TRU thread. As for the display posters, I may try again next time I'm there as the manager wasn't around when I asked and he knows me so I might be able to get a couple of the cooler ones.
Make sure you hit up Game Crazy if you go to the 38th St. TRU as they're in the same parking lot.

Which EB? I drove around to 3 or 4 EBs today on the west side and Castleton and they had all either been cleaned out of penny guides or threw them away. Did buy two guides at a Gamestop on 86th St. but the guy that worked there said he was just getting ready to clean all the penny guides out and toss them away. There were quite a few penny guides still at that store but none I wanted. They had a Zelda Windwaker guide there but it rang up full price somehow...must have been a different brand than the one on the penny list.
Also, is some one here on the board wiping out all the TRU stores of penny guides or are they just really on the ball when it comes to tossing them out? I drove to 3 TRU stores and didn't find one...I figured my best bet was East Washington St. because that one is almost as run down as the 38th St. one that's going out of business, but they didn't have any either. They did still have the labels on the racks though, so it looks like one person might have come in and grabbed them all. I found pretty much every guide I wanted from the lastest drop in a store, on this site, or on GTZ though, so I'm fine. Kind of ticked off that I paid $5 for the Advance Wars DS guide on here and then found a copy for a penny today though.
Anyone ever try to trade any guides to Half Price books? They sell them for half cover price. My guess is they give about 25 cents each in trade credit though, which is what they do with comic books. I'd love to go in there and trade some new penny guides for the older guides they sell if they gave a decent trade value for them.

Considering what part of town it's in, that wouldn't surprise me. I swore off going to Laf Square Mall about two years ago when I pulled in the parking lot and some guy was taking a whiz right in the middle of the spot next to where I was pulling in. I felt like saying, "Dude, the mall is 25 feet away. There are restrooms in there!" But I decided I'd rather not get stabbed, shot, or perhaps urinated on...

RDHaha. I haven't stepped foot in Lafayette Square Mall in years now. Only reason I stopped by was if I couldn't find a particular thing at the other Champs in other areas. They seem to have a good selection at that one. Aside from that though, there's not much at that mall for me to look through.
It's kind of annoying though, that Circle Centre is now turning into a "hangout" mall. Tons of kids just walk around the damn place not really doing much of anything. And I hate it when they walk in one big line side by side taking up most of the walkways. It's not like they own the damn place.
So I usually keep my shopping there during weekday lunch hours. At least then it's mostly business folk who are just in the food court.
Edit: As far as the CC thing goes, best place I've had luck w/ is the CC up in Clay Terrace. I hate the Greenwood store as they're just so poorly organized.
