I want to purchase a game from gamestop. The online price is much cheaper than the store price they are giving. Is that legal, or should I inform them of the online price and thats what I should get it for.

Er... all prices on gamestop.com are a lie!
The only real reason you shouldn't buy from GS online is the fact that they sell a LOT of disc only games. -_-
Gamestop.com and the actual stores are two separate entities. They don't have to honor each other's deals or other prices. Nor do they accept games for return from each other.

When you checked the store price did you just look at the sticker, or have them actually scan it in their computer? Last week I got Samurai Western. The sticker said $34.99 but it actually rung up $24.99. Sometimes stores are slow to change stickers. I'd ask them to scan it at the register.

There is nothing illegal about it.
Gamestop.com and Gamestop Corp are different companies and can set their own independent prices.
Same goes for EBGames.com and EB Holdings Inc. (retail) - different companies.
