ya, so I drove all the way out there only to be told that they had them in stock, but they were on hold for other customers...total bullshit since they say they can't put em on hold.

technically they didn't hold them, they just didn't want a line while they unloaded the truck. they handed out pieces of paper with number in the order that you showed up. half of the people purchasing at the same time as me were employees yet employees are instructed to tell customers they have no idea when they are getting more, even when they do know. i have a buddy that works there so i will post if i get more info

Yea, discland isn't a bad place if you're looking for retro games. Good place for T-shirts and hoodies too.

Terrible music selection. Hardly any industrial that I can tell from anyway.

Stay clear of the Eden Praire Mall Target. There's no clearance to be had there.

In general their prices are insane though...very few times have I found a good deal, and their return policy kinda sucks (store credit only). But they definitely have a decent assortment of retro stuff if price isn't a factor.

Xbox has the mobile kinect booth set up at Mall of America. I played several games.

Dance Central 2 - played one song solo and one song in a dance battle, the 2 player works REALLY good

Kinect Sports 2 - only got to play tennis, it felt like a VERY early build cause it didn't feel as good as table tennis in KS1

Star Wars Kinect - did the rancor scene, lol this game is a broken pos, we'll see if they ever get it to be fun

Its pretty big news, but just in case you don't know, they reinstated a bunch of banned accounts and gave each account 3 months of Live and 1600 points. To see if you were affected, just try signing back in.

Pretty awesome, and they said that the booth will be slowly getting more stuff (like songs to try on Dance Central 2) over the next few months they are there. XBL/Points seemed like they were drying up, so get em while you can.

Also, the Best Buy there had some :ps3:DC Universe LEs for $30. Its a great price for anyone who wants a disc in preparation for when it goes free. There was also a copy of :360:Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition for $20.

Half Year? Its only 1 month and 480 points ya get. You'd have to get six of em, and like I said it looked like what they had was dwindling. I'm sure they have more to put out, but there was next to none when I went there. Still, its worth going for that, since its technically a $16 value and you get to try out some new unreleased Kinect games.

Was for demoing dc2 and star wars when I was there.

Went with my niece and nephews yesterday and they were giving them for demoing any of the games (my nephew got one for demoing the disneyland adventures game).

Tried the star wars jedi knight part of the demo (did the pod-racing one before) and it had some moments. The force pushed worked incredibly well, and the saber was so-so. Moving and using the force grab/throw was buggy though. Me and my nephew played it and there was actually one part where we totally ended up beating a guy using team work; you had to attack their backs so I kept attack his front to keep him from turning while my nephew attacked his back. Not great, but it had some moments that were pretty cool.

All told, tested a few games and got 2400 Microsoft points and 5 months of Gold. Probably make another trip in the near future.

Not a deal and its sold out (unless you craigslist), but for future reference, the haunted house at the soap factory is probably one of the best you can goto in the Twin Cities.

EDIT: Wow, this year was actually kinda lame. I would still recommend in the future, but this years was just too short and anti-climactic.

You can demo Star Wars Kinect (I recommend the Jedi Knights or Rancor one if you are by yourself), Disney's Magic Kingdom (or whatever it is called, recommend the jungle cruise one where you throw bananas at gorillas), Dance Central 2, one other that I haven't actually tried and I believe they have fruit ninja kinect going inside the booth as well but they don't seem to give out the codes for that.

If you didn't read the earlier post, just a heads up though, the codes are printed backwards so that the "points for an HD movie" is actually the 1 month of Xbox live and vice versa. If you go with more than one person they will give everyone with you a brochure with both codes and you can totally test them all out.

Not going to lie, I really had to resist the urge to grab the giant stack of them sitting by the computer where you can email the photos of yourself playing last time I went. There were just like 20 of them sitting there and none of the employees were there... so many points...

I went to the Soap Factory one a few years back (when they had that weird wheelchair thing that felt like you were rolling around forever, not sure how they made that work) and it was pretty good.

We went to the Buck Hill one last night and it was quite similar to last year. The 3D Paint Factory thing was still super cool but the rest was just too similar.

You can get into the mall far earlier, but I think most stores open at 10 so I would assume that the demo opens then too but some of the kiosk open earlier/later so it's hard to say for sure.

I usually have luck in the back row of the first floor of the east parking garage, a lot of people don't even bother going into the back left corner area to check. It's my typical parking area.

If you are going straight for the west side, the 5th floor is almost always full of empty spots. This past weekend was extra crazy cause kids had out of school for Thursday and Friday, but worst case scenario I almost always find a spot on the 5th in west. It's one floor above the skyway so no one wants to park there cause they are incredibly lazy when half the time getting a front row spot and going down a set of stairs is less work than parking on in the back row of any other floor. :lol:

I had a sort of in between experience, my wife and I went and some of the demos they were all too happy to give us each one, and at another couple they were hesitant though gave us cards when we asked. Maybe they were running out, though one just looked like a chick who didn't much care.

Also grabbed the Gears of War 3 strategy guide for $5 today. Just a heads up if anyone is going to be at the Mall soon. Went with my niece and nephews yesterday and they were giving them for demoing any of the games (my nephew got one for demoing the disneyland adventures game).

Tried the star wars jedi knight part of the demo (did the pod-racing one before) and it had some moments. The force pushed worked incredibly well, and the saber was so-so. Moving and using the force grab/throw was buggy though. Me and my nephew played it and there was actually one part where we totally ended up beating a guy using team work; you had to attack their backs so I kept attack his front to keep him from turning while my nephew attacked his back. Not great, but it had some moments that were pretty cool.

All told, tested a few games and got 2400 Microsoft points and 5 months of Gold. Probably make another trip in the near future.

I didn't figure to post it since it was the last copy, but I managed to get a :360:Record of the Agarest War Zero LE for $30 at the MoA location a couple of days ago. There was a few ok clearance items, but ya, nothing really worth mentioning.

In the last year I've gotten quite a few free games, pretty much all downloadable stuff as that is just easier to get. It definitely varies by the platform, for example I've gotten at least 32 XBLIG's for free, and last summer I think I got every Summer of Arcade game for free except Fruit Ninja Kinect. Just some examples.

One writer was only on the site for roughly a month and a half and got I believe 4 PC games for free in that time, including The Witcher 2.

Our iPhone writer did an article every week for nearly six months and I would say that roughly 80% of all games he reviewed he got for free.

I've done a lot of gaming in the last year for free.

I say "opportunity" because what you get to review is directly related to how much work you put into it. I help the writers out, take advantage of contacts I've already made and show them how and who to talk to, but eventually "set them free" to find review materials on their own.

I've seen mixed reports about the 3DS and the remote-brick, but to my knowledge, nobody from Nintendo has said "no, we're not going to brick units". You have to admit though, the 3DS in terms of your reasoning is the lesser of two evils. They let you use standard SD cards for storage, which is now a dedicated place for downloadable games...meaning its essentially "required" and Nintendo could just as easily pull a Sony to better pack their pockets (not to mention they also give you the required SD card with your system at what appears as a non additional charge (after initial price change)).

I completely agree with the remote brick fear, its insanely ridiculous. But you've got to draw a line between reality (ie, no reports that I've seen about bricks, and trust me alot of people are using flash cards) and legitimate concerns (Sony's non-standard memory cards) in terms of the enjoyment you could get out of the product (LoZ: OoT remake was AWESOME).

These are the first two handhelds I havent bought. In fact just before the 3ds came out I sold my DSi and PSP. I just found myself never using them. When I was at home I would use a console for the most part and unless you have a lot of public transportation, as an adult I don't have time to play besides right before I go to bed and the unspeakable bathroom break ;).

When I am actually interested in playing mobile games I need pick up and play and quit short bursts not portable console games no matter how good they are. Sadly, the android/iphone/ipad in my life satisfy this need much better than either of these devices do. Still part of me wants to buy them for the one-two killer games a year but I know they will just collect dust.

The Best Buy on Ceder in Apple Valley has the Skyrim CEs back to $70, least they did the other day.

Richfield Best Buy will not be doing a midnight release for Diablo 3 due to construction.
For anyone that preordered there you should have received an email, but you can get it between 8-10AM and there will be a drawing for the people that show up to get theirs for 1 free collectors edition.
Also guides will be $10.99 and Collectors guides will be $19.99.
Nice deal on guides if you're still picking it up there.

I went to Cedar Ave BB hoping they had the 30% sticker on the Skyrim CEs and the old $99 tag. With the recent price adjustment to $60, they would be $42.

Those darn meticulous blueshirts had it marked clearance at $60 already (obviously no yellow 30% stickers).

Perhaps these were $70 earlier in the week? I just saw the price cut post on the deals forum this morning so I may have missed it.

Two post above your own I mentioned that they had put them back out at $70. A couple of post above that another user and myself discussed how they took the 30% off stickers weeks ago and actually were selling them at $99 again.

I thought perhaps they were at $70 again because they put the 30% off stickers back on, but see now they were simply priced $70 in the system.
