Maple Grove Best Buy has a table of 60% off games. There's some decent stuff on there fore PS3, 360, Xbox, PS2, and PSP. Off the top of my head I can remember (price before 60% off):
PS3:
Spider-man 3 (39.99)
Def Jam Icon (29.99)
The Bigs (59.99)
Formula 1 (59.99)
NBA 2k7 (can't remember price)
360:
Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer (can't remember price)
Spider-man 3 (39.99)
PSP:
After Burner (29.99)
Parappa the Rappa (29.99)
There was some other stuff on the table too like Halo 3 strategy guide and the 360 smack talk thing.

Is that smack talk thing even worth buying on clearance? Now that I'm a 360 owner... it looks dorky as hell....... but would it work well for Halo 3? I'd love to record a few loops on it so when I pwn some noob I can just hit one button ya know. ;)

FYI for those trying to get Guitar Hero 3 early since K-Mart/Sears is breaking the street date... its a no go at the Blaine K-Mart. I even tried the "well my friend got one at another K-Mart" but the employee back in electronics.... okay, I think we ALL know the (lack of) intelligence you find at K-Mart these days.

There's a rep, and there's firsthand experience. Spending 4 days in your next of the woods last week, I can give a firm "Oah yah!" to whether or not that accent is pretty pervasive. Many don't, but many do.

I can't argue with your first hand experience, though I DO assert that a much larger percentage of the people born after 1980 do NOT have the Fargo accent...
The accursed accent aside, did you enjoy your visit to our fine state?

Eden Prairie Best Buy had a stack of Wiis on the floor Wednesday night. Had to be at least 20 piled up. They also had the sign posted for the 60GB PS3+free game (Lair or Heavenly Sword) or controller. Also have a pile of the Legendary Halo 3 sets (reg price.)

You should see the piles of those halo3 360 bundles at costco in maple grove.
Starting to look like they might become Black Friday deal! Cuz no one is buying em at that price.

Anyone know of Wal-marts (or any other big retailer) in the metro area that usually put big Nintendo titles out early? I realize I'm a week ahead of time on this, but I'm excited about getting me paws on SMG ASAP. I scored Mario Kart DS on the Sunday ahead of launch at the St. Anthony Wal-mart (I think it was that one, the one on Silver Lake), and I'm hoping to do the same this time around.

Anyone here ever been to Game N Go? They have stores in Edina, Brooklyn Park and Roseville. I wanna check them out, but it they don't have a huge selection of classic games (which they say they do on their radio ads), driving all the way out from Eagan would be a waste of time.

Eagan eh.. Have you been Cedarcliff Collectables? http://www.cedarcliffcollectibles.com/
They have a decent retro collection. The prices are kind of hit or miss, though -- it looks like a lot of it is based off of Ebay prices, but they have Atari games and up, if you're looking for a decent local spot for retro stuff. It's also the closest thing to a local CCG card shop in Eagan that I'm aware of.
Unrelated to that:
I was thinking it might be fun at some point to do a MN CAG event for the hell of it -- If anyone else would be up for it maybe we can plan something...?

I was thinking of checking them out since they started advertsing on KFAN a few weeks back.
Then I looked up the BP location, and saw its address and realized I was there once when I lived in BP a few years back.
When I was there a few years back, I was rather unimpressed by the selection and especially the prices. I literally lived a mile away from the BP location and NEVER went back.
Now it may have changed within the past 2 years, and I might check out the Roseville one, but from what I experienced it wasn't worth going to.

I would, but with the holidays approaching, I imagine it would be kinda hard to get something together.
But if it did happen, where would we meet? Someplace like Gameworks in Minneapolis? Maple Grove Dave & Buster's? King of Diamonds?;)

More so if you factor in parking.. I suppose... I kind of like the idea of somewhere with an arcade. Are there any other arcades in the metro? I know there used to be one in the Mall of America, but I think it shut down.. then again I haven't been there in a long time because I hate the place, so maybe another one opened up.

If it's during the week you could probably find a spot on the street a few blocks south with little difficulty. They stop ticketing meters after 6:00, and there are always spots around my place. Weekends are a little more difficult, but also manageable.

If people are genuinely concerned about parking Dave and Buster's in Maple Grove is very similar to Gameworks. I've been to both and both have their ups and downs. D & B has plenty of parking and is in the same center as a CC, Costco, Petco, etc etc so not an issue at all. The only problem is its a bit of a drive for anyone on the other side of the metro.

Yes and No.
I went to Maple Grove CC around 4 PM and they had one copy of COD3 left in the back a platinum hits version. I asked them if the deal worked with the gold copy (saw the tag in the shelves as the same price). They said yes so i asked if they had any gold copies left or if any other stores did. they called around to no avail. So i could have taken that copy but instead i bargained with them and got them to raincheck a copy of COD 3 gold for me. The only problem is i don't think they were supposed to do it for me so my raincheck is a note on a business card with a name and a signature. I have to keep calling to see if it is in stock. :-/

If anyone's planning on hitting up the Blaine TRU for the new clearance, they had several copies of both Kameo and Rockstar Table Tennis, but I think I got the last copies of Dead Rising and maybe the regular edition of PDZ (unless, of course, they had more of either in the back). That is the TRU that was closest to my work -- at the very least, they're not selling ANY copies in the store, so they're at least maintaining what they have for preorder stock.. unlike Gamestop (in my experiences preordering).

Anyone know of a store in the Hopkins/SLP area that does trade-ins? I suppose MicroCenter might work, but I don't know if they take PS2/Xbox games that are older. I'd like to trade in some stuff that I won't ever get around to and grab Tetris Evolutions and possibly Dirt for the 360.

Last time I was in the MC in SLP they had N64 games, so I don't think you have to worry too much about that :)

I got the call to pick up Rock Band tonight at the Southtown GameStop, but I may just wait until they open tomorrow to decrease my odds of getting jumped in the parking lot. Big-ticket items make me nervous around the holiday season.
Does anyone know if stores are going to have enough to cover all their preorders?

I had luck on the 20% off coupon at ANOKA KMart yesterday (11/18). There was a stand with weekly flyers right as you walk in. There was a hand full of Rx coupon booklets (in which the 20% off coupons sit).
For those unaware: There are two 20% off coupons per booklet (1 was dated week ending 11/17 and the 2nd is dated to end 11/21). You must hurry if you want to cash in.
I picked up COD4 for 48+tax (but was hoping for an early release Unchated)

Has anyone been successful price matching TRU's B2G1 sale in the area? I want to use my gift card from Mario Galaxy and pick up some gifts, but the TRU I went to was completely picked clean.
I can confirm for those looking to pickup rock band that sams club does have them at $150. Get em before they're gone!
I picked up an extra ps3 version so if anyone can't find it and needs this let me know. I will let it go for $170 if it don't sell on ebay. Just looking to get a free time crisis 4 with the sale of this. But if not I'll do a fellow cag a favor.

Inver Grove Heights BB has two Elite Forza/MUA bundle (repackaged, non-"Go Big"). Both are Lot 0742, clearly labeled 175W so both are 100% guaranteed Falcons. Two Pro bundles left that are lot 0743 (I took one tonight). Not sure if they are Falcons because both are 203W and frankly, I don't care what mine is.
This is not a deal but lot 0744 is reported as the newest lot so 0743 is actually quite new. Thought you guys might wanna know. Every other BB I've been to have none that are later than 0733/0734.

Eden Prairie Best Buy has Rock Band bundles in stock as of 7PM Tuesday night. They had a pyramid stacked up right in the main aisle straight from the front doors. At least 10 each PS3 and X360. Also saw 3 X360 and 4 PS3 back by the games. Considering how bad the traffic was tonight with the snow I would guess some will still be there Wednesday morning.

I wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I was going to head home early, at about 4:15. I went out to the street that LEADs to the street that leads to the freeway -- it was backed up for a mile and a half.

You know I would jump in on Rock Band myself but after trying it at both the Northtown Best Buy and Walmart.... According to my buddy, Ridgedale Best Buy had a huge stack of Xbox 360 Halo Special Editions for $350 on Sunday. By the time I made it there on Tuesday, they had already sold out, but I did confirm the $350 price point. It seems to just have been Ridgedale (I checked with Roseville, and they weren't offering the same deal). The person who helped me was an idiot, so I don't know if they'll get more in or not, but if you're interested in a slightly cheaper version of that unsightly beast it might be worth a shot. I didn't think about it at the time, but I should have pressured them for a cheaper Elite.

Inver Grove Heights BB systems have been down for a period of time, most likely since yesterday. Anyone bringing in an item for exchange or refund is turned away and is given a "15% of one single item" coupon for the inconvenience. Certain exclusions apply ie. game hardware & accessories, etc. Game software IS NOT listed as an exclusion.
System is expected to return to normal by 1:00pm this afternoon. This would not make sense to drive from far away, as it is just 15% and most likely will be dead by this evening.
*Disclaimer: Bringing in an item to exchange or refund in order to receive the coupon without the actual intent on exchange or refund is fraud and may be considered a crime.

This has been dead for a little bit.
Just a random note, Gamecrazy has to be the best place to get a disk buffer. My poor Nocturne got a nice scratch and seems kinda impossible to make the game workable. So I tried CD Wherehouse (Warehouse?), but didn't work. Then I knew Gamecrazy has one and it removed it significantly enough so the game works. Too bad apparently they MIGHT relocate? or shutdown (at the Roseville one) at least that's what the guy working there said.
I am pretty sure gamecrazy will not be in this market much longer. They have already clearanced some of their other stores out. Do the blockbuster's in the twin cities take trades on games? If not it sure would be nice if they opened up some gamerush stores. Spread some of the love up here so we can flip some games, there trade in values are nuts.

I might be going to the Reward Zone VIP thing, but let me get this straight, so the coupons work on the 27th in the morning or is that a misprint? Because the thing is on the 28th at 6-8PM.. so the coupon is wrong meaning that it should be a "2-hour event only Feb 28, 2008" instead of Feb 27?

Didn't their actual gamecrazy store close quite a while ago? I guess the store is closing now huh? I am not too sure when their GameCrazy closed. I usually don't go to the stores around Southdale too much because everyone drives so crazy around there. I just stopped in because I saw the store closing signs (Yes the whole Hollywood video store). There really was no 360 stuff left- it was all older xbox and PS2 games. They had a few GameCube games too, but nothing worth mentioning. They did still have a bunch of movies left when I went including some obscure stuff (Such as- Bruce Campbell in The Man With the Screaming Brain). You might be able to find a gem or two.
If you didn't see the best buy brooklyn center has gh2 360 for 29.99. They had about 12 left at 11:15 am today. It is posted in the main deals thread but should be here as it is only this store according to the manager. The price is not marked and you will have to have them adjust the price in the system. All right, so I'm tired of not having anywhere to buy games other than GameStop, Target, etc. So, I've made an editable Google Map:
Click Here to view and edit the Google Map of Twin Cities-area Independent Game Stores! (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=116391819231832934596.00044a659cb6522d9b2cb&z=9)
It's editable by anyone (Wiki-style) so please please PLEASE add independent game stores-- they're really hard to find when you don't know about them. I've added all of the ones whose locations I could reasonably deduce from this thread (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170637) but I KNOW there are a ton of other stores missing that have been mentioned in this thread. Toyriffic, Games N Go (I got the one at Southdale, but the others are a mystery), and a bunch of other stores. I have been to basically none of these (yet), and I'm sure there are a ton of people looking for new stores-- it would be awesome if you would add information about selections, pricing, opinions, etc to the description pages in here, even if you don't have anywhere to add. Thanks, guys.

First off :applause:. Thanks for your efforts.
Games N Go (I got the one at Southdale, but the others are a mystery),
I know that there was a Games N Go at Rosedale when I was there last. I believe the other locations are Brooklyn Park(Broadway & Brooklyn Blvd in the strip mall with Cub) and St Cloud(i dunno exactly where)
I'd edit the map, but I can't get it to work
I dunno if the place is still around. They used to have a website and advertised on KFAN all the time. I haven't heard ads on the radio for awhile, and I cant pull up a website

For those having trouble editing the map:
I don't think Google allows anonymous editing. If you are signed in with a Google Account (GMail, Google Personalized Home, or any other Google Stuff; you can make one for free if you don't have one already) then there should be a button in the left-hand sidebar above "Minnesota Game Stores" that says either "Collaborate" or "Edit." Click there, and you should be in.
When I tried to find the Games N Go website, the closest I got was a redirect to some random eBay page.
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help thus far!

Just to get a notice out there a few weeks in advance, if anyone sees a MN area retailer breaking the street date on Mario Kart Wii, do us MN Wii CAGs a solid and report it here ASAP.
A few of us found Super Mario Galaxy a week before its street date last November, and we may get similarly lucky this time around, too. Your vigilance is appreciated!
EDIT: Rather than double post I thought I'd edit this one and note that it seems unlikely that BB will shelve MKWii early. I visited two yesterday and, unlike their treatment of SMG, they've all got "reserve now" cards out for MKWii. Does anyone know when the game shipped and when retailers will have them in their storerooms?

I'm guessing nobody will shelve it early because it's a Sunday release. Too unusual of a date for anyone not to notice.

SMG was a Monday release. Didn't prevent people from putting it out on the Tuesday or Wednesday before.
Don't take the possibility of someone breaking the street date away from me with your logic and reason, llama. ;) I need this.

Mario Galaxy did not have an firm street date on it. Just an expected to be shipped out date. That means that stores can sell them the second they come in. However Mario Kart DOES have an firm street date on it which means most stores will have it under lock and key until this upcoming Sunday.

"Expected to be shipped out" date? What about the Brawl release? Was that a "firm" street date or was it an ETBSO date? Because Sears busted the shit out of that date, whichever it was. I'm not positive, but I think you're complicating things. It's as simple as all titles having a street date, not a soft street date or a firm street date or an ETBSO date.
The games are shipped out to retailers so that they arrive sometime ahead of the street date. It's up to the retailers to honor that street date. In the past, big retailers like Wal-Mart really couldn't give a shit about street dates--if they received a title on Saturday, they'd just put it out on Sunday because they could, Tuesday street date be damned.
The reason fewer big retailers will break the street date this time around with Mario Kart Wii isn't because they give a shit about Nintendo's "firm" date, it's because they've now done tie-ins with the release (pre-order bonuses, midnight releases, so on). It's now to their advantage to hold to that date. So you're right that fewer retailers are going to break the date, but it has nothing to do with Nintendo's insistence. It has to do with retailers creating retail events around that date.
My hope is that Sears continues to not give a fuck. Stick it to the man, Sears!

Firm street date for Brawl which was March 9th.
Yes I realize that I went a little too wordy on "ETBSO." Does "Expected Date" sound better? And yes there are those two street dates since not every game as an firm street date on em. Do you really expect an title such as "Game Party" to have an firm street date on its release? That's why many titles are given the "expected date" in case retailers get them early then they can sell them right when they show up. That's why "Mario Galaxy" was sold early - because it was given an "expected date" and not an "firm date."

Personally I'm not an big fan of street dates myself. Just put the product out and sell it when it arrives. However I can see why studios and retailers do it which is obviously to hype the product up so you will be there on release date to get it then... instead of having to guess on when it will be there (if ever).

Very true. You can't fault retailers for wanting to make an event out of an big release like this. Especially when retailers can use an big title like this to sell accessories, other games, and the like... or even use it to tie in with yet another shipment of Wii systems.
My hope is that Sears continues to not give a fuck. Stick it to the man, Sears!
We'll see. Personally I can hold off until Sunday to get Mario Kart. If you can get it before Sunday then that's cool. My world won't end if I don't get it prior to Sunday.

I agree. In this case Nintendo's making it easy for retailers to abide by the street date, at least in the Midwest, because the games are going to arrive so close to that date.
I figured Thursday was maybe my first chance to find MKW early, but it was nowhere to be found. Both the people at Sears and Target said that they didn't even have it back in their storeroom yet, and from what I'm reading elsewhere it sounds like Nintendo shipped them out on Wednesday.
Looks like I'll be hitting up one of the midnight releases.

The Brooklyn Center Best Buy has a manager's clearance thing going on; they have an endcap in the games area filled with 50% off games. I only picked up Flatout for the 360 for $10, but they had quite a lot of stuff for basically every system (although don't get your hopes up for Wii games; they only had 2, Ratatouille and something else I didn't care enough about to remember the title of ;). They did have plenty of copies of each game, though)
Most of the 360 games had a bunch of copies each: Lego Star Wars II (a ton of these), Pirates of the Caribbean, GRAW, The Bigs, Stuntman Ignition

Shakopee - Open 24 hrs (4 in warehouse)
Eden Prairie - Open 6- 11 (2 in warehouse) Guy was hesitant to give me numbers, but he suggested a super center. Wonder if he wanted it for himself.
Bloomington - Open 6 - 12 (lady wasn't on electronics register)
Anyone else care to chip in? I just asked to talk to electronics and gave them the item number or upc number. (see below)
Notes: Thanks to Chex20
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=184855&page=14
If you want to try and make it idiot-proof here's a step-by-step:
1) Ask them to sign into their gemini/telezon (new name is Gemini while the old name is Telezon).
2) Tell them to click on item management (might be product management)
3) Tell them to go into perpetual inventory.
4) Have them either type in "71171980110" for the UPC on the first line OR have them type in "543198" for "Item"
5) Have them tell you how many are "On Hand" "In Transit" "In Warehouse" "On Order"
Here's what each one means too:
On Hand: what they have in stock at the moment.
In Transit: what they are getting either today/tonight or the next day. Usually they will have it within the next day if it says "In Transit"
In Warehouse: means what they have ordered and are going to be receiving (ie. if the "On Order" number is "3" and the "In Warehouse" number is "2" then what that means is they want 3 but only going to be receiving 2).
On Order: what they are trying to order
So right now, as it stands, my Walmart is *trying* to get 2 but there's currently none in the warehouse. Hopefully it will change in time for the 12th.

The above sums it up. Anyone wanting to buy 1 now is most likely buying mgs4. So you pay $40 more to get a daul shock which is a much better controller than sixaxiis, bigger hard drive, and emulation for backwards compatability. Your best bet to get 1 will be to hit wally world supercenters at midnight. If you don't get 1 there and you really want one get to best buy early and wait, they are supposed to have 10 per store. This fact alone tells you the 80 gig bundle may be a little low in numbers initially.

The wife just announced that she wanted Wii Fit, which I didn't see coming as she's not much on the video games and the playing of the video games and the enjoyment and har har har. So I figure I got to strike while the iron is hot.
If you go to the Game Crazy on White Bear Ave and 36 in Maplewood they will put you on a list and call you when its your turn. I was on the list a couple of weeks ago and they called me on Thursday and told me to come and pick it up. There is no deposit required and I am not sure if this is at all Game Crazy's or not.

I am looking for a "deal" on this super huge pizza that was featured on the Half Assed Morning Show on 93X:

The Maplewood Bestbuy had a deal in the game section. If you purchased a console (360, PS3, or DS) you can pick a select game for 50% off. They also had a deal if you purchased any two video game accesories you can get 50% off select games. I got two 1600 Microsoft point cards and got the GTA IV Special Edition for $35.00. The list of games are as follows:
Devil May Cry (360 Regular and Limited Edition)
GTA IV Limited (360) $69.99/$34.99
Stranglehold (360 Regular and Limited Edition) $29.99/14.99
Geomotry Wars (DS) $19.99/$9.99
They had more, I just cant think of them right now....

linky (http://devsite.x10hosting.com/TargetASIN/Target.php)
Use that link to enter the dcpi # to check target's inventory, I found mine last week with it when everyone was supposedly sold out. It works pretty good.
When you say "everyone was supposedly sold out," you mean that other CAGs told you Targets were sold out but the ASIN checker told you otherwise, right? I talked to some local Target clerks and they said new stock is typically gone within 6-7 hours of being put on shelves. I'm just wondering if new stock will even register on the ASIN checker if it's only around for 6 hours. But I'll keep checking...
The Northtown Best Buy also had a TON of this last Tuesday. They are more than likely gone at this point however. I think the demand will die down a LOT faster compared to the Wii itself since Nintendo is really sending these things to stores. It shouldn't take you long to find one. Good luck.
Yeah, that's the impression I'm getting. I figure I'll find one before the week's out. All the clerks I talk to (at either BB or Target) say there's no regular day that new stock arrives--it just shows up unexpectedly and they shelve it. This process would be a touch easier if I had a day of the week I could focus on to expand my search.

That's not a bad option. I'll put my name on the list just in case I come up dry in making the rounds.
Thanks everybody!

Target had the b2 games get another free last week in the ad. Mario kart was 1 of the choices that you could buy. Obviously they sold out on sun. I went looking on mon. am and every store was sold out and they had called around. The next day I checked stock and stores that had said sold out were showing in stock. I immediately went to a store and got it. I believe it was a tues. So maybe today is the day to check on picking this up.
BTW Roseville Best Buy has a bin of games b1g1 free. Though I would order some of those gamefly deals if you don't already have some of those games.
Also Blockbuster takes trade ins and told me they always have. Time to start trading them in there when their trade values are not up to date with current pricing.

Sounds good. It's not showing as in-stock on the checker anywhere right now, but once it pops up I'll make a run for it. Thanks again for that link.
EDIT: I just talked to someone at the Roseville BB and they said that all incoming Wii Fits are going to be held so that they're put on the floor en masse to coincide with Sunday ads. Hmm.
EDIT #2:
So I've been closely following the Target DCIP checker link and two Super Targets near me, one in Richfield and one in West Saint Paul, have both showed up as having stock "Available" in the last 16 hrs. When I first noticed the change I immediately went to Richfield and they didn't have any in stock. I asked if they had any Wii Fits in stock that day and they said no, not to their knowledge. Then early this morning the DCIP checker indicated that WSTP still had stock "Available," and since it was on my way for work, I dropped by their first thing in the morning when they opened. Again, no dice, and no indicators that they ever had stock to begin with.
So I am highly skeptical of your link, rmb. I appreciate that it could be useful, but so far it's screwed me twice. I think the lesson I learned is that if the DCIP checker shows stock, CALL AHEAD.

You can also use the ASIN from amazon.com.
EDIT: So I just got my Wii Fit from the Richfield Super Target. The DCIP Checker linked to by rmb was right this time around...if you're using it, though, I suggest you call ahead as it's definitely not 100% reliable.
Also, beerman, the Richfield ST had 8 Mario Karts in stock when I was there about an hour ago. Good luck!

FYI, if anyone is still interested or missed all the great Amazon deals for the Halo 3 legendary (w/helmet), Best Buy in Eden Praire had at least a couple for $60.

I just got back from the Best Buy in Apple Valley, got Flatout Ultimate Carnage and All-Pro Football 2K8 as part of their 2 for $10 clearance table. Also picked up DiRT for $19.99 (it was in their half off clearance section). Other notable games in the half off area were Blue Dragon ($14.99, should I have gone for it? I'm not an RPG fan really), UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 (also $14.99)... there were a couple others but I can't remember what they were.

Do all Best Buys have that? I don't recall seeing one at Eden Prairie. AV is too far to go for that deal.

All of them do not, but Apple Valley frequently has a clearance section. Its worth checking out if you're in the area.

Finally scored Mario Kart today - Supert Target Edina @ opening.
Funny thing ... I didn't realize WiiFit was such a big deal. There was a line of soccer moms all jacked up about the game; not for the kids, but for themselves. They only had 10, and a couple in line asked for two tickets, I thought those denied were going to rush them.

I was at MOA today and my tomtom said that I was only 10 miles away from Apple Vallet Best Buy. They did not have anything that caught my eye but the Target next door had American Idol (360) w/ mic. for $12.48. Also, that whole shopping center kind of seemed ghetto, I hurried back over across the river after dealing with horrible drivers in that area.
Does anybody know if there is a used bookstore/videogame/DVD/music store in the Twin Cities, I moved here from Phoenix and looking for a store like that (like Bookman's if any CAG's are familiar with the Phoenix area). I do not mind travelling.

Hlaf-Price books in St Paul(Highland area), Maplewood, Coon rapids, Roseville, St Louis Park(or Golden Valley, i forget)
and of course Apple Valley...in the Rainbow shopping center right across the street from the SuperTarget/BB plaza...
And you better get used to the drivers. They're terrible all across the Metro Area

I think that is what it goes by these days. Could be Randy's Pizza or Premiere Pizza. Not 100% sure what it goes by currently but that is the place. I used to work there about 10-15 years ago. The pizza is the best! Try the cheese bread there, I like it with extra garlic and cheese, soooo awesome! Also recommend the Minnesota Deep Dish, pricey but incredible.

Hey fellow twin cities dwellers, I have a random question for all of you. I have lived here for about a year, so I am somewhat familar with the area. I need a decent mechanic shop to fix my car, it is acting up lately, but I don't know any good mechanics, so any suggestions would be wonderful. Any suggestions of places to avoid would be great too. My car is a 2000 Toyota Celica in case anyone is looking for that info, thanks.

It really depends WHERE in the twin cities you are, but if you're near Fridley/Columbia Heights:

Hage Kobany is the only place I take my car to get work done -- and I live 40 minutes away now. I know the owner - very principaled man. I actually do most of his computer maintenance, at least when things are on fire. I trust the shop without question. There may be slightly cheaper places, but if you want a place that won't jerk you around/try to get you to do unneccesary things, I swear by this place.

I suppose it would help to list where I live, right now I live in IGH but I work on the east side of St. Paul, so anywhere near those two areas would be great. I appreciate the input and if I can't find anywhere else, I can trek up there. Thanks.
