No, I've known it a while. So pissed at how conservative they called the game in the 1st half. On a more relevant note...

discount 70 has an additional 20% off their games. Really have to have them open the case and look. Found a dualshock3 new and sealed for 12 bucks tonight. None left. I'd have bought 100 at that price.

Richfield Kmart was up to 30% off games - great selection was still available - if you go check it out, make sure to check the glass case in the front of electronics where digital cameras are kept - a lot of newer titles (seems they had releases up to Batman Arkham Asylum (sold out now) but most other titles are still available) are stored there...

Accessories were up to 20% off - Had 2 4000 pt. 360 points cards, 1 year (and 3 month)subs to xbox live, both wired and wireless controllers for 360, and dualshock 3s for ps3...

Actually, their trade-in values were pretty damn good - especially on the older stuff. To be fair, that could be because I did it the day they opened up shop, and their values hadn't been adjusted for volume.

I got $43 for Arkham Asylum on the 360 (more than I paid for it); it's something like $30 now, which is still better than what Gamestop would give. For a number of games that I was previously offered 60 cents to $1 for, TRU gave me $5.25, which was higher than the ebay costs for those titles. Maybe with a trade 2 for an extra $10 or a 40% extra + edge I could have gotten that much from Gamestop, but I like that it's just a reasonably fair amount with little hassle.

The problem I've found is that the in-store selection at TRU is pretty spotty. If it's been out longer than a month, it's a coin flip whether they'll have it. Their customer service sucks, and the store nearest to me is kind of a dump.. I haven't ordered from their website yet, so I don't know how good or bad that is.. All I know is i hate it slightly less than Gamstop.

If you look over what I traded, I could have gotten more for some of it by doing a craigs list or ebay thing, but my time is more valuble than the dollar or two more I'd have gotten for most of that.

For almost all the games I traded to TRU, the trade-in amounts were greater than what I'd have gotten from Gamestop - though, Gamestop's trade in values are absurdly bad 90% of the time, even if they had a decent deal going on.

So.. yeah. TRU is giving more in trade than most of their B&M competition, so I wouldn't rule them out. Use the site I linked, you'll know how much they'll give you in credit before you go in.

Just make sure you also get the SKU for your games of the site if you plan to do trades; If I didn't have my phone (G1, which has a full web browser), they wouldn't have taken prototype or the Guitar Hero games.. their internal computers can't get to the trade in page, so they can't look up things their scanner doesn't recognize.

Hollywood video stores without GC have been accepting used games for trade as well. Not sure how good the trade in prices are however.

This shouldn't really be unexpected since most of the stores now have a small area for selling new videogames and consoles instead of having a larger seperate area like Gamecrazy.

GameCrazy liquidation does not start until Monday. Open at Noon. The two stores I visited today did not even have their shipments in. One manager told me he expected the shipment to arrive on Monday. We will either have to wait for product to be stocked or maybe shop from boxes if we are first-comers. Each store was to get over 1000 items. But both are pretty bare right now.

It did say the 3rd. Managers were also told this. They were informed later that it would start Monday to allow them time for their transfers. With the sub $29 stock not arriving at the closing stores until Monday or Tuesday, it would have been a pitiful (and may still be) sale with what they have on the shelves now. You'd be better off coming to my garage sale. I hate garage sales BTW.....

I don't think any of the closing stores received their transfers yesterday, so stock was pretty dismal. Try today (or call) to see what they got in. I believe they can check lists for what they have or will get. I believe ToV was $24 or so used (months ago) so it may not be part of the liquidation.

Grabbed King Kong ($7), The Godfather Game ($10), CSI ($14) and finally got Tiberium Wars ($14) for a price that I wanted.
The Game Crazy in Golden Valley is pretty well picked over of anything on the PS3 or 360, though the guy said that a box of 600+ items will be coming in within the next couple of days. No guarantee that it'll be anything other than used accessories and previous generation titles.

I assume you aren't talking about the fantastic finish by the Wild?
Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, Yanks will probably only lose two games on the way to being the champs this year.

The Roseville GC is pretty sad unless you like sports games. There are a handful of PS3, 360 and Wii games. Otherwise, lots of $4 sports games and random PS2 games.

Stumbled upon that in a MN Daily article on the Internet while looking for store hours last week. I wonder if there are more closing or closed locally. All the HWV stores I have visited without a GC so far are discount stores - all new games < $19.99. I was looking for the Ghostbusters or RE5 on sale, but no luck. I have officially hit a dry spell. All the multiple copies of games that were about to drop at the Targets I was watching were gone today.

Yeah I called several stores, the ones that are getting it aren't getting it till tomorrow at the earliest. I hope the stores that get it tomorrow will still have a copy after 4pm...damn college classes, haha.

I have it. takes about 3 days to get to the PA distributor (Texas would be better, but it goes off of zip code) and I get a game in 2 days. Most notably this last time was getting NFS:Shift on release day! Plus after 3, 6, and 12 months you get rewards (I think they stack as well).

I like it and have saved a little bit of money (still buy some of the bigger release games as I want them!)

I did a trial of gamefly and it was a couple of days each way. I think if I got it in the mail on a Monday, they would get it Wednesday and I would get a game on Friday. This was probably a year and a half ago though, so I don't know if they have a closer shipping location now or not.

I had gamefly for about 1 + 1/2 years. It was great at first (maybe 3-6 months). They would know I sent the game in the mail (if i took it to post office) the day I sent it and start sending the next one. It was about 5-7 business day turn around time. This was with new releases.

What several of my friends and I noticed is that those turn around times start getting longer and longer. Pretty soon it took them 3-7 business days to get the disc from me and 3-7 days to get a disc from them and that's only if they send out immediately which they often times took over a week to send the next game. meaning anywhere from 2-3 week turn around time usually closer to 3 weeks rather than 2. Which just wasn't acceptable to me. My roommate still subscribes and he says it has gotten better but other friends say its still just as bad.

The pros of the service is that it allows someone on a limited budget to play a lot of games they normally wouldn't and try games they normally wouldn't want to invest at full price in. The other advantage for it were the discounted prices on games and credits toward used games. This is a great program but it became less useful since the economy tanked because their prices don't fair as well competitively as they did previously.

Just last week I signed up for Gamerang hoping they have better service. They have 5 distribution centers but one is in the metro (Crystal, MN) meaning at least ship times to and from them should be dramatically decreased. Since it is so soon I can't comment on my experience yet but you may want to give them a look as well.

Either way it does require you to dramatically change the way you think about purchasing games. All of a sudden single player games or games you can finish in a short amount of time are much less compelling then purchasing a multiplayer game you will pop in every now and then for several months. It also requires you to change your habbits in buying discounted games (target clearance, newegg, amazon dotd, etc.) otherwise you end up having a stockpile of games you don't play or rentals you don't play.

Yeah I wanted to check out gamerang, but I got gamefly for xmas last year, and asking again (like the only thing I asked for so far) so I'm not going to complain as it's essentially free for me. I'm using Gamefly again right now. I think it's like the 4th time I've used the service. I usually end up quitting because I find myself buying games, because I just wasn't getting them from Gamefly. I'm making a serious effort this time to just have patience and wait for the games.

I have Brutal Legend at home right now. I only have Uncharted 2 and Borderlands in my queue now since I want one of them next. I have the 2 out plan, so whenever they get one for me, it should be sent. Next week Ratchet comes out and that will be in my list as well. I hope they ship me something next week, because I just have a few odd achievements to get in Brutal Legend, then I'm sending it back. Then again, I've got a stack of unplayed games I need to get to as well. :)

I usually get great quality games from them (ie not scratched much, etc.) and the case/manual are always pristine since they dont use them...but yeah, I'll keep an eye out for it...saw about 10 copies at Lake Street Target tonight but at the 41.xx pricepoint, so a couple drops to go if they last...

Target's in the south metro haven't yielded much lately. The KMart in Richfield that is closing has video games at 40% off. There's a few good games left that I'm hoping make it to a larger % off. If you can afford the 1 year prepay plan it is way better to go with that than month to month. Blockbuster would be good, but the cost and availability is a risky proposition.

My Gamefly ends this month, and my Gamerang ends next month. Due to the turnaround times and in light of the new info, I may go with the prepay 1 game with Gamerang as the turnaroud time is the read deal maker for me. True, the benefits they're planning on rolling out may not be as good as Gamefly, but it's a matter of turnaround and availability for me.

I have blockbuster and haven't been impressed. I've been more inclined to take them in to swap. I may switch over to netflix since I'd imagine they have their stuff together. Whenever I complain to BB about their shipping etc. they say they're working on improving their system and they give me a free movie rental. :roll:

I've been really happy with Netflix. They usually take 2 or 3 days to get us the replacement disks. We haven't sent one in in months, though, because we've been doing streaming instead - just for the streaming netflix is worth it. I can't talk it up enough.. so good.

Just came from a Toy*riffic in St. Croix Falls. They had Modern Warfare 2 for $69.99 if anyone is die hard and wants to spend $10 more to play it for the weekend. Might want to check the Maplewood store to see if they have any if you are interested.

Also RMB, I just got a new stove and Best Buy has pretty much all appliances on sale on there site and are better than the current in store price of getting two save 10%, three 15%, or four 20%. Maybe you can get them to honor the site price and get the 50% off if you can find the coupon and maybe the system will glitch and give you 10% more off for buying (washer and dryer) it in store? Its all just a big "IF"

I got the same BS about Blockbuster "improving their system" for several months which includes a three week period of them not sending me ANYTHING. I finally ditched Blockbuster a month ago to go back to Netflix. As BattleChicken said turn around has been 2-3 days for me except oddly my most recent DVD All Day With Adrian Peterson was in my mail the day after I sent in the previous DVD.

Decided we didn't need the washer/dryer. I have 3 kids that seem to leave plenty of crap in their pockets and you don't always find everything. Didn't like the idea of crayons, pencils, rocks, and anything else you miss going through a new washer. Not to mention that the set we have is only a year old as it is. I don't know which one I saw it at, but I saw another today at $14.99 used. The other was either mispriced or I just automatically put the game in the "Buy it during B1G1" category and mentally associated a lower price. PS3 version is also $14.99 used.

I found some 360 POGs the last couple of days. There are still some out there and I believe more are being shipped. I was able to pick up CoD 4, CoD:W@W, Halo Wars, Fable II, GoW2, Xmen Origins:Wolverine, Soul Calibur IV and Orange Box. Saw GTA IV, Fallout 3, Transformers the Game and Revenge, several 2K/08 and 2K/09 sports titles, Gun and pretty much what has been posted in the 99 cent thread except Halo 3. Found them at 3 different stores.

EDIT: If anyone wants more info, PM me. There was not much left at the stores I visited, but I have a couple that are supposed to be getting a shipment of 30. One probably already has it, but does not have it shelved. I was going to have them look, but the place was actually pretty darn busy so I left.

Made some rounds to a few different Target stores.

In Waconia, I got Dead Space for $10 (last one I think) and Rock Band 2 for $12.50 (lots of copies)...those were for Xbox. They also had the complete band kit for Guitar Hero World Tour for PS3, for like $60. Tomb Raider on Xbox for $10.

In Chaska, I got Red Faction for Xbox for $20...they didn't have much else to choose from.

Chanhassen and Minnetonka had pretty decent selections too.

It also appears that Target is already clearancing out NHL 2K10 for PS3 and Xbox, I only saw a few copies of it but it was going for $25. I was really surprised to see that. Ever since 2K Sports released the patch for NHL 2K10, the game has greatly improved and is right on par with NHL 10.

So most likely the highest will be $16. May be worth taking a peek. Passed on a 360 dj hero for $64 on wed. Selection is hit or miss and the dj hero I am sure will be gone. Pretty much. Most of them closed, many that didn't close had Gamecrazy's and aren't doing the sale, and the one I know of that is didn't have many games in the first place.

I paid like $38 for it (had some GS monies) and while it was fun to play the older songs from 1 and 2 on updated charting/engine, it's still severely lacking. If I remember correctly, within the last two weeks I saw it on sale from amazon (I beleive) for like $16 (it was on this site in the VG Deals, so u could check.

Then I was a sucker and bought DJH, but I got it for $80 and $40 amazon credit, so it was worth it for me.

I picked it up for $20. Its decent. Nothing mind blowing or anything but if you desire to play certain GH1 songs on a modern console then its worth it. Not to mention having the original versions of the songs instead of the cover versions is nice as well.

I saw a shelf tag for the Modern Warfare console at Lino Lakes, MN Target. They scanned the tag and told me it was discontinued and not available at any other Target within the metro area. Good Luck to evryone else.

The Sams club deal is a go here at the one in duluth, i know they had at least one copy of batman AA ( I bought it) but no plastic sheets on the shelf to indicate that they had any, they also had a plastic sleeve for Punch out marked at 9.81 but already have it so i didnt check to see if they actually had any.

I called M$, they were able to trransfer the warranty to me. Now to play it hard the next few days to make sure OK to keep it. I think it will be just fine. And .... On my way home, there is a Hollywood Movie Rental place on Hwy 55 and CR 24 that is going out of business....so they are selling a bunch of Video Games cheap. Too many to list.

It's a free screening of the movie, I went to these all the time in Phoenix, but it's usually packed. So if any one wanted to see a free movie here you go. I saw that Oakdale had vacancies, I did not check others though and they all seem to be on Tuesday nights for the most part. All my friends live in Phoenix or Eau Claire and do not want to drive to the cities to see a movie. I guess you get free shirts and popcorn as well, just figured I would throw it out there for you CAG's.

The Movie Gallery in Blaine on 109th & University doesn't have much for gaming left. A few okay titles buried in the mix but most of the stuff is skip able. On a funny note they have the seventh season of "24" for $4.99 a disc. That would bring the total to $30 which is at least $5 more than it sells for new on Amazon for (and even more than what it sells for thru third party sellers).
