I somehow endedup with two versions of the same game:
PC
N64
- The N64 has simple plug-n-play + a good controller.
- The PC version I'd have to play with a keyboard + mouse. And probably will be a bitch to make its 98-compatibility work on XP.
Which version is better? Which should I keep?

Pc has better framerates and graphics but is damn near unplayable with a keyboard and mouse setup, console version it is. The framerate while sluggish at times never gets in the way of the gameplay and the controller really helps.

If you have a spanking new PC, SW RS will run TOO fast on it. At least it does on mine :-D

Those games are two different genres. Rouge Squadron is a arcade style fligth sim while the others are pure flight simulators.

Neither one. Just wait until you reach the 4th or 5th level, the game goes from easy to impossible. I hate that game with a passion. The game is just too hard , buy the other star wars game on n64, its much better and alot more fun.

It wasn't that hard. I played it back when it first came out for the N64 and I was able to beat it. That was about 6 years ago, making me 13.
It was a fun game. I wish it was part of the Rebel Strike bonus disk.

Battle for Naboo? Are you crazy?

Someone said, "Sounds like you already made up your mind"
And that's basically true. I *hate* PC games. It is such a pain-in-the-ass to make the older games work on newer systems. This Star Wars game was written for Window 98, and I just tried running it on XP, and it crashed to Windows 5 seconds after the title screen showed up.
In contrast, when I put the cartridge in my N64 console, I know it will work & I'll be playing 30 seconds after I press "power".
PC games suck. Console games are user-friendly.

Just setting the compatibility mode will work for most old Windows games.

Do you have the RAM memory module for the N64? . . . the game takes advantage of it for a nice bump up in the graphics.
I wouldn't even touch the PC version. Really a good game but topped by the Gamecube sequel.

Yeah I have the N64 RAM expansion. This amazon customer review is funny: "A hardcore N64 gamer's dream item. This makes the N64 graphics look like PS2." Yeah. Right. Sure. ;-)
I just checked amazon's list. I don't see SWRL listed there. Are you sure it's improved? Maybe it's like Mario or Zelda Ocarina (don't use the extra RAM): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/feature/-/45471/002-2262156-1257664
