Jeez what an ass. Thanks for lumping me in with Fred Phelps moron. Look I was mad about the Anti-Gay Rights Admendment as anyone and voted against it but it's not just Kansas, it's anywhere where people don't properly READ a bill and assume something about it and a large amount of kneejerk Conservative Christians doesn't hurt either.
was at sams club in salina, ks and found the following (these are lame deals just thought I would keep this thread alive)
Thug 2(gc) 9.99
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles(gc) 12.49
Call of Duty: Finest Hour(ps2) 9.99
of course ymmv
Anyone alive in this thread? No deals, nothing?

Thanks for the response. That was the next place my wife and I were headed but we found it at the 115th and Metcalf BB. Used the $10 off coupon, too, so $25 :D
It's crazy- there wasn't a single copy in Lawrence at Target, Wal Mart, EBGames, or Best Buy. And online, it's sold out at Amazon (and TRU), Buy.com, Barnes&Noble.com (and Gamestop since that's who they get it thru), EBGames.com, Target.com, and WalMart.com
For anyone looking for a copy and not wanting to pay $45+ on ebay, there were 7 or 8 copies at that BB.

Was at walmart in salina, ks early this am and saw that they had 3 core and 2 premium xbox 360s in stock

Lenexa here. We have an interesting used game store here. It just opened this summer (I believe). It was called Replay and is just west of Quivira on 95th street (next to the Chipotle). Anyway, then have already changed names. There is a big banner hanging over Replay Games that says Game Exchange.
They never seem to have any business and there selection of this generation games isn't great. They do have some adequate deals on used DVDs and they have quite the selection of older systems available; that is, in case you missed out on the Dreamcast or the concreate-block-sized Gameboy. It seems like the place that I may score a hard-to-find game at some some point, but no luck yet for me (although my little brother found some RPG I'd never heard of and was pretty happy). They sell some othere fun stuff like case mods for the current generation systems.
If anyone is in out this way, there are a couple Vintage Stock stores that are fun to go to as well.

If you went to the one on 95th then it could just be because they took over the old store, which came prestocked with a poor selection. There is apperantly another GameExchange opened up down by 119 and blackbob in Oletha. I haven't been to that one though. As much as I like looking around Vintage Stock, I rarely find anything I want to buy that has a decent price on it. It's lots of fun to look around though; when my old college buddies come to town we go out there to look at how much our old GI Joes and Transformers are selling for now. They also have all the old Star Wars suff you could want (execpt for the pitiful selection of the Decipher TCG).

GameXchange is not affliated with the Kansas locations. It's franchises of other stores.
And Vintage Stock is my choice of Ma and Pa stores in the area, the limited selection of them. Lawrence is a better choice for that on Mass.

Are you saying a GameXchange on Mass or a vintage stock. I'm guessing the former because I never heard of a vintage stock out there. There have been a couple Vintage Stocks open up in Springfield Mo (one of them used to be Caveman).

I haven't been to any of the TRU closings, but in my experience store closings are awful for finding deals. Everyone jumps in and buys all the good stuff on the first 10% off deal (of which they could do better by waiting for a sale). Remember all the K-Mart closings awhile back? Awful.
If anyone wanted a followup on my previous question, Game Nut is open on Sundays, but I didn't find anything too interesting from the current generation games. They had some nice old stuff and there were some interesting DVDs though. I didn't like the prices I saw so much either, par for the course I guess. I did find some hard-to-find- chocolate up the street at the Europe store though.

Just look at this as your opportunity to:
Finish side quests on FF games, or finish that Jak II you bought and never played more than a few hours of.
Have some fun trying to play a dvd using the regular PS2 controller.
Play a CD on your PS2 for the first time ever.
See if you can play old mortal combat games with a dance dance pad.
Turn off you lights, play with a laser pointer until your eyes hurt and pretend your playing the Virtual Boy.
Put on a mitten and try to play games, you could pretend your playing with the powerglove, but you more likely to play well with the mittens.
OK, I'm done being snarky now.

Or make up new endings to well-known films, example, the alternative ending of The Passion of the Christ:
"Behold, he is calling Elijah. Let us see whether He comes to take him down.."
A bright flash of lightening glitters in the sky as a Delorean appears, hovering above the cross. The soldiers scatter in terror for fear the great and mighty metalic lord haveth come down from Heaven to smite them. The door opens upward as a wide-haired figure sticks his head out of the vehicle.
"Marty! Jesus is in bad shape."
"Don't worry Doc, I'll swoop down on my hoverboard and save him."
*Cue Back to the Future suspence theme*
"Hang on there Jesus, I'll have you out of this in no time"
Marty uses a crowbar to pry the nails from Jesus's wrists and feet.
"Get down closer Doc, we gotta get inside!"
The Delorean sweeps lower and Marty places Jesus in the rear seat.
"Fire it up doc lets get out of here...Back to the Future!"
The Delorean raises once again up into the air, the engine guns as the car disappears in another flash of light leaving tracks of fire.
Seconds later another flash of light appears as an object falls from the sky onto the ground below. The door on the side opens as two figures step from the phone booth.
"Whoa Bill, where the hell is Jesus, we need him for our next oral history report."
"Bogus Ted, we totally came too late..."

Speaking of Bill and Ted, I would like to let you all know that Bill and Ted is actually the Precursor legacy for The Matrix movies. In both movies:
1) Keanu Reaves is chosen because he will have an effect on the future of the world.
2) There is a strange guy (Rufus/Morpheus) who helps guide Keanu to his destiny.
3) You can travel using pay phones.
4) Those who want to stop you are machines (remember the bogus journey)
Ultimately it all points to Bill and Ted being one of the earlier iterations of the matrix. I guess that means that Bill was changed into Trinity in the new universe.

Hello Kansas people. I saw this in the other thread and figured i would post.
Thanks much to the OP. On Friday evening, about 6pm, I went to the Overland Park or maybe it was Olathe (you know, Southwest Kansas City), KS CC- not the mall one at 95th and Quivira but the one down at 122nd and Metcalf. Bumped into a friendly CAG there who was looking for some of the more obscure stuff and having some luck. Always enjoyable to run into nice and friendly CAG.

I stopped by that Circuit City Saturday morning and picked up 2 DS games, they had quite a few ATV Quad Frenzy, Madded 05 and 06, Tiger Woods 05, Texas Hold Em and 1 Star Wars left. The believe the GBA games were pretty much gone, i wasn't really looking for thoes so i could be wrong.
I went to the Circuit City by Oak Park mall during lunch on friday and they had a TON of GBA/DS games. I ended up buying only one game. I went back after work and everything was gone....... I would say that the store pulled all of the games untill the 2nd. I dont think it was a hoarder seeing as though they probalby would have went to the other CC to.
So FYI the Oak Park CC might have a lot of games come the 2nd or the 4th.

I would say that the store pulled all of the games untill the 2nd. I dont think it was a hoarder seeing as though they probalby would have went to the other CC to.
So FYI the Oak Park CC might have a lot of games come the 2nd or the 4th.
Yeah, I think that someone has been buying up all the deals out here. During the big CC sale a while back, I only found one copy if one of the "good" sale games at the store, and that one was misplaced (my wife saw it). Everything else had been bought up even though I went on the first morning. I know some people buy early so they can pricematch, but I doubt there are enough CAGs out here to clear out stores unless they are buying multiple copies. Of course, it may not be a CAG, but it seems to be the same story at all the stores around here lately.

Circuit City on 95th st. has 11 copies of Total Overdose marked at $3.96. If you take some of these to Blockbuster they'll give you $10 apiece for them. Don't try to buy more than 3 copies from mr bigeyes though. You might be able to get away with it from some other employee.

Ok, havent seen any movement in this thread so time to update with what I've seen in the past week inbetween the 60+ hours of work I've put in :(
Kansas and Kansas City area stuff below. Keep in mind, I'm a Nintendo person mostly so there may be some good PS2 or XBox stuff that I'm missing.
1) Independence, MO CompUSA that's going out of business is pretty picked over. Games are 20% off and I picked up LotR: The Third Age for $15 - 20% off earlier this week.
2) Sears at Independence Center - big bin of games, not much that interested me but there's some decent stuff if you haven't gotten in on some other deals. Metroid Prime 2 for $10, POP: Two Thrones for $15 iirc.
3) Circuit City at Indepenence Center - still has a decent sized bin from the clearance from a while back but it's pretty picked over. Don't remember much that was in there, tho I do remember there was a copy of Suikoden Tactics that I was thinking about for the PS2 I'll eventually get.
4) KMart out in Independence - Nothing marked clearance. Couldn't find an associate to scan stuff in the protective displays. Had copies of some stuff that's clearanced elsewhere like GBA Zelda II.
4) Mission, KS Sears Essentials (used to be KMart)- The clearance stuff isn't marked up but shows up in their computer and there was a decent bit of it since it's not marked. Picked up Kirby and Amazing Mirror for GBA for $7 and Metroid Pinball for $10. Still copies of each of those. Price checked a copy of Pokemon Sapphire since it's clearanced at KMart but not at Sears- showed up as $40 so nothing doing there.
5) KMart on Metcalf and 95th-ish. Pretty picked over. Got the only copy of Donkey Konga with drums for $15 last week. Not much there but I remember something like 2 or 3 copies of Dark Stalkers for PSP. Didn't that used to be fairly sought after but isn't any more?
6) Finally, I got to end my day on a good note that made my day perk up at the Lawrence, KS Target. Geist for $6.xx and, best of all, Western Digital external MyBook 120 GB hard drive for $70. Still 1 of each left. The clearanced games are somewhat underwhelming and hard to find. If you've been there, you've see that they mix their greatest hits and clearance games in the endcap in the games section as well as sometimes placing clearance games on one of the endcaps a couple more aisles down.
Hopefully that'll get the ball rolling in the thread with some reports and thoughts. Oh, and anyone who knows anywhere that has a discount GBA Player would be greatly appreciated ;)

On Labor Day, I also had the fun of working but afterwards dropped into a couple of places in the SE KC area. The data's a little late but better late than never.
1) I went to the Olathe, KS KMart on Santa Fe. Picked up copies of Mario Golf ($8) and Mario Tennis ($15) as well as the old e-reader Mario Party ($2) card set. I didn't see any more copies of Mario Golf, however, there was another of Mario Tennis but it was in the case. They have the typical KMart clearance box out on the counter in electronics but there was also some stuff in the case. As the electronics guy kept running around the understaffed-looking store, I didn't get to peruse everything in the cases so there might be some hidden goodies there.
2) Went to the Olathe, KS Toys R Us- the one down by the Great Mall. Nothing too exciting that I remember. If you don't have it yet, there were at least 10 copies of Baten Kaitos for $10 with the soundtrack, just sitting out on the floor.
3) On the way back from the KMart, ran across the Blockbuster with the GameRush and stopped in on a whim. Walked out with a new copy of WarioWare: Twisted for $10. There was another copy still there if anyone's interested.

Lawrence, KS Target didn't have much except some PC games I didn't look too closely at. They had about 5 copies of Ridge Racer for the DS but I'm just not that excited about it. Disappointed to not see KH: Chain of Memories or Minish Cap :(
EDIT: Wait, did see Tales of Phantasia for, I think, $15. It was over on the GH endcap where they mix stuff in, not one of the clearance endcaps. There were also copies of Mega Man Anniversary Collection for Gamecube and a couple of others on that shelf. Nothing really exciting as I already have ToP and MMAC but decent stuff if you don't already have them.

Belgand, didn't see it but wasn't looking for it when I went yesterday but I didn't see the update to this thread until just now so I'm not much help in that regard.
1) KMart on Santa Fe in Lenexa (Olathe?) (9.12) - Found a copy of Ridge Racer DS for $2. Wasn't really looking for it but for $2, maybe it's time to try another racer to wash NFSMW out of my mouth for the DS. Didn't see any other copies. Also, there was a Platinum Hits KOTOR which I picked up for $4, also the only copy. In the case, picked up an EyeToy Groove with the EyeToy included marked for $15, but it rang up for $5- there was another copy in the case but you have to try and find someone to let you into it which can be a challenge there. Still, 3 games for less than $12 and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite stores :)
2) Oak Park Circuit City (9.13) - Wanted a second set of bongos for the copy of Donkey Konga I picked up last week so spent some time anguishing over which game to get. Ended up deciding on the only copy they had of Donkey Konga 2 with bongos for $20. They had 2 copies of Jungle Beat with bongos for that price still, tho, if anyone's interested.

Went again to the Santa Fe KMart in Lenexa. Picked up a copy of Pokemon Sapphire. It was tagged $10 but rung up at $17. However, a really nice cashier changed it. I swear that copy was not there either of the other two times I've checked recently so either someone has returned something or they restocked or it was hiding really good- not out towards the front of the case where it was today. Also saw about 6 copies of Mark of Kri there but they were marked something like $25, still had a couple of copies of Polarium for ~$20, a copy of Advent Rising for XBox for $5 (I think that was new) and a smattering of other stuff I don't remember.

Ok, I think I'll pass on posting in the regular threads for these two (KMart, Target) as they're filling up with hoarders and just stick with updates here in the KS thread. Granted, these were in St Joseph but that's right across the border, so close enough, right? :)
So, I was up in St Jo for work and right down the street from where I had to work was the North Belt Highway KMart. It's so nice to go to the places like St Jo and Topeka because KC has a nasty set of hoarders. I get wanting a copy for yourself or for trade, but it's rare to see much from clearances as everything gets ravaged. There they had a nice employee who was patient and helped my get into all of the cases where they had the clearance stuff all bunched together in the bottom of each case. As for my haul, I got one of each of the following (most of which is on my trade list, tho I'll start playing a couple of those soon):
:ds: Tiger Woods 2005 ($3)
:gba: Super Mario Advance 4, Series 1&2 cards (60c each)
:gba: Metroid NES, Ice Climbers NES
:gc: Metroid Prime GH ($2)
:xbox: Soul Calibur 2 PH ($2)
:ps2: Enter the Matrix GH ($2)
So, all in all, 8 things for under $20- great haul by my estimation. Beyond that, they had a copy of Wind Waker (GH) for $8, multiple copies of Metroid Prime ($2), another copy of Enter the Matrix for the PS2 ($2), and more copies of those NES Classics (tho those were the only two). There was a pretty good selection of stuff that wasn't marked down very much and in the $20 range like Mark of Kri and Drill Dozer. There were no copies of Minish Cap, Sonic Advance, Pokemon, Time Crisis, or Taiko that I saw as I was kindof keeping an eye out for those either for personal use or to report back to the board.
Next up was the Target right up the road from that. Unlike Lawrence where clearance stuff is kindof just thrown on a nearby endcap and rarely lasts more than a couple of days, this one was crazily well organized. There was an entire clearance game endcap over by the music section. I didn't get anything for myself as I didn't see anything I really wanted that I didn't have. What I remember from there is a copy of Mega Man Collection (GH) for Gamecube but not much else for that system (notice I always check N stuff and remember it best since that's what I have). For the DS, there were lots of copies of Drill Spirits, Urbz, and Ridge Racer. For the PSP, they had multiple copies of a pair of baseball games (I forget which). For the GBA, there was a copy of Tales of Phantasia and a bunch of Anime themed games like Shaman King. For the PS2 and XBox, there was a lot of collection filling pedestrian stuff like GH games.
And, of a non-bargain nature, I was thrilled to death when I went to the Best Buy right next to the Target. Sure, it cost me $30, but I finally managed to track down a copy of Orbital's :gba: Racing Gears Advance.

Was up north yesterday and stopped at the Target on Chouteau. I asked one of the guys working there for orange tagged games but he said they didn't have any. They did have the obligatory cheap shelf but it was kindof hidden away from the games section. I don't really have a mental list of the Target clearance stuff so I don't know if they didn't have any clearance games or, more likely, they had some but they weren't marked. I did price check a NES GBA Zelda II which rang up at $10 so I passed- not sure if that helps anyone in their determination of the former vs the latter of the previous thought, tho.
I did pick up a GBA Game Shark orange tagged to $4.98 and there was a second one there for anyone interested.

TV - 30 off but their stock is dwindling.
PS2 FF with Hard Drive...$40 I believe. They also had a ps1 LCD screen but I don't remember how much it was...I Do remember it wasn't a great deal.
They have Harmony remotes for 30 or 40 off right now, might wait till those drop and make a jump on one.

I'll second this last post. I was out at the Olathe, KS TRU, working on one of their computers on Friday, and checked out their games after I was done. They had 8-10 copies of Phoenix Wright with a shelf tag of $20. They also had a bin of DK games complete with Bongos marked for $20- at least 5 copies each of Donkey Konga, Donkey Konga 2, and Jungle Beat.

Considering that TRU has a 10% off coupon on their ad this week for "anything," it could curve tax and then some to make the deal better. And there is the DS Lite bundle* that TRU has for ~$160 -10% and then "no reciept" return the games to Walmart for other games. The value of Over the Hedge at Walmart is $30 so it could be replaced for another game.
*Comes with either a black or pink DS Lite, a nintendo gamer Kit, Over the Hedge DS and Shrek Superslam DS

Went back to the motherlode KMart in St Jo from the above post (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2214418&postcount=110) as I had to work in both Chilicothe and Hiawatha, KS yesterday but nothing really left there- just the usual KMart stuff that's left now with $20 Mark of Kri's and Polariums. Really wishing I had picked up more when I had the chance way back when. Live and learn, I guess.
At the end of my day, back in KC, I went to the TRU on the north side by the airport on Broadway. They had the new clearance games in a bin towards the back. I sifted through that entire thing and picked up :ps2: Arc the Lad: End of Darkness and :gc: NBA Street Vol 3 both in the $7 range. No luck on any of the Gamecube stuff (Fire Emblem, F-Zero, RE4) except Baten Kaitos- there were a couple of copies but no soundtrack. Quite a bit of PSP, actually, tho the only thing that stood out to me was POP. No Katamari or Ratchet and Clank for PS2 either. A few copies of Budokai- different versions for different systems.
I didn't really notice many games of note but this sale is a little light on big titles. They did have Psychonauts but they weren't marked with orange tags like everything else but they were in the clearance bin. They had quite a few copies of Donkey Konga 1/2 but they also didn't have tags and I've seen in the TRU thread, those are supposed to be clearanced, too. Since it was so late, I didn't price check as they were getting ready to close. Lots of stuff like Spiderman 2, sports games, and other fluff like Ghost Recon 2 and movie games (Constantine for $3.50, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and Trivial Pursuit.

anybody camping out for the Wii Saturday night/Sunday morning?

11-15-2006, 11:16 PM
I think I'll have to pass on the camping. I don't really want to throw down $300 at the moment (because I know if I got it, I'd have to get Zelda)- it's just not in the budget. I prefer to bleed that money away $10 at a time... speaking of which:
Checked the MicroCenter as the new ad came today. Snagged a $25 CF card for my camera that was 1 gig but nothing of note in the games section. They're pretty much a store that hangs onto stuff far too long before dropping. Then again, it seems like many others drop prices way too quickly on many things. A balancing act, I guess. The new gaming section is decent looking but nothing special. Then again, I suppose we're kindof about prices so this is getting off topic.
On my way down Metcalf, checked the KMart at 95th- they still have their sad little clearance box out but there's nothing new. Same old, same old- ~$20 copies of Polarium, Metroid Pinball, Darkstalkers, Brave Fencer Musashi- pretty much what's been there for months.
Then I headed down 95th to the TRU at Quivira. They didn't have a bin but they had updated most of their signs to have the right prices. That said, you had to hunt a bit. Snagged the last copy of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Didn't see anything else of interest. However, I think they were still going through the lists and marking stuff so it's not quite up and running yet.

It's just one of those things- you need enough users to keep a thread active and there just isn't a large enough KC contingent here, I don't believe. This way, we can put together KC, Topeka, Wichita, and everywhere else in the state as, if you think about it, there are probably less stores in the entire state plus both sides of the stateline in KC than in some of the major cities like Chicago or Houston.
BTW, if you got the Castlevania DS preorder- they had those in at the Lawrence EBGames on Monday. Actually, it was pretty cool- I went in there on Saturday to preorder and they were still taking orders and I got it on Monday. Everyone who preordered got one as they said they had 19 preorders and 19 bonus packs.

SI
Good point. I hope we can keep this thread active so we can share deals in our neck of the woods.

I picked up a collectors edition (used) of this for $15 (after promotion) at Blockbuster about a week ago. You might call around to them and see if they have any in stock. They were (maybe are) having a 25% off used games promotion right now. I have found that Blockbuser usually charges less for collectors editions than regular editions.
Also, I was in GameXchange on 95th and they seem to have lowered some of their prices. They have gone from too high to about average on game prices (at least the few I looked at). They had Perfect dark zero collectors edition for $20 (which I believe is the price for a used non-collectors at eb) down from $30. They also got a fancy disk surface repair thing (not sure when they got that) but they ran the disks of a game I bought through it and it looks like new, I can't even tell it's been run through a machine.

The KMart at 95th and Metcalf continues to underwhelm. They had some clearance games but it was a handful, maybe 10. They've put out a display of GH level games- $15 and $20 stuff but at this point in the generation, there's not much great about that price.
I stopped at the TRU by Oak Park Mall and they didn't have Castlevania :( However, they did have one copy of Metroid Pinball for anyone who doesn't have it yet and a lot of copies of Resident Evil DS.

Mainly b/c there are few games I have any desire to play more than 10 hours. I found out a long time ago that many of the games I felt I "had" to have I did not like when I actually played them. Still, I feel like I beat the man when I find a good deal. That why I own, but have not played more than a few minutes of:

Halo 2
Perfect Dark Zero

Been on the road the last couple of days so here are some reports...
Yesterday (and today, for that matter, but these were from last night), I was up in St Jo. First stopped by the KMart where I had hit the motherlode a while back but haven't seen much since. There weren't any games under $10, those looked like they had get picked over as soon as they drop. However, there was some collection filling stuff for $14-$16. Things that caught my eye were copies of Sigma Star Saga, Final Fantasy IV, Romancing Saga, Timesplitters 3, Gran Turismo 4- that sort of thing, if you missed out on certain games originally. I picked up the only copy of Radiata Stories I found ($14). Again, nothing really cheap but a few things that could be had for not too much.
Today found me in Topeka. My favorite TRU, the one there on Wannamaker, had some stuff in a bin but not much of interest. There were some tags out with some stuff for cheap (for instance, Meteos for $7.50) but I didn't get anything and I can't confirm they actually had them in stock. That store is usually pretty good about only having pull tags for inventory. They've also gone to putting some additional game tags they don't have room for into binders on the floor.
Then I tried the Target right there. Picked up Gunpey for the DS ($7.XX), and a GBA triple pack with Millipede and two others for 2.XX. Those were the only copies of those, tho. There were a couple of copies of FF1/2 for 14.XX and some of the Tony Hawk Project 8 skateboard sets at 22.XX. Also a copy of Killzone for 9.XX.

There was some mention in one of the threads about Dragon Quest Rocket Slime being hard to find in Best Buy at the $25 price. A friend of mine bought a copy yesterday, with gamer gift card, and the total was $21.XX after tax.
I don't think it's that hard to find, but if it is, there's an opportunity as there were at least 4 more copies there.

Was out in Independence, over at 470/70 and checked out a couple of stores there. This was one of those days when you just kindof strike out :(
Circuit City didn't have anything readily apparent- then again, they're not in a clearance cycle right now. Every video game area there seems so small now since they've got a little of everything.
The Sears right there also had nothing. As mentioned in the Sears thread, a lot of stuff has been labeled with generic tags and marked back up in price. I didn't see much point to price checking but if someone's feeling lucky, go for it- there's 3 or 4 of those display boxes filled with games. Still, nothing like the giant bins of games they used to have there.

Well, you know how it is with CAG'ing- a lot of it is the thrill of the hunt :)
The only KMart game I've wanted more than just a passing fancy but never found was Minish Cap. Or the Game Boy Player but that doesn't count...

Well, unfortunately, this doesn't really help anyone here but I'm in Colorado Springs so I figured I'd fill people in on what I've found here. Maybe I'll crosspost in the Colorado thread but I still have a couple of stores to visit here ;)
Sunday, my plane arrived and I decided to take the long trip back from the airport to my hotel. I was driving north on Powers since it ran me parallel to the mountains and I could see the scenery go by.
There I ran across a KMart with ancient pricing. Stuff that dates back to like 8 months ago. I picked up a Time Crisis with Guncon but it was $18. Also, I got Ice Climbers for GBA was still $6, saw Minish Cap $21 (didn't buy), and Gunstar Heroes for GBA $10. Those are not bump back up prices like we're starting to see now. They aren't the really low prices from about 3 months ago. These were the prices from this past summer/fall- so they're just a bit behind the times. There was a really nice person who price checked about 10 things for me and they had a ton of old stuff but it wasn't at very good prices. Shame. Whenever they decide to catch back up with the rest of the world, someone's going to get some good deals.
Then I went up the street to the Target on Powers and didn't even see any orange tagged games. Blech.
Today, I got a chance to head up to Briargate Mall. They have a KMart actually built into the mall. They had limited clearance stuff kindof like the crappy box of stuff they always have at the Metcalf store in OP. Sure, it's well marked but there was nothing there.
Also in the mall, they had a Sears and I price checked a few things. I got Xenosaga 1 for $15- not super cheap but I had been looking for it for a while. Same with Metal Gear Solid 3, which was $10. Multiple copies of both there. Also checked on Jak 3- rang up $20, one of the Ratchet and Clank for $20, and they had a Game Boy Player which I've really been wanting for a while but it was $60.
There was also a Babbages in the mall. It's been forever since I've seen one. It looked pretty much like any old EBGames/Gamestop.
Then I went back south on Academy and saw a Circuit City and Comp USA right next to each other. Nothing at all at either. Then there was an Ultimate Electronics and a few of those had video games- I don't remember the one in KC ever having them before it closed tho- this one was all tv's and entertainment center stuff. No games at all.
So, anyways, I've mostly struck out but I've gotten some stuff and there's some intrinsic fun in CAG'ing in a new place. There are a couple of Gamecrazy's here I'm wanting to check out since we don't even have any in Kansas and maybe a couple of other stores if I have time.

So, what's crazier than going out trying to snag CAG deals in the middle of blowing snow? Well, how about trying to go up a mountain a couple of hours prior in the same weather with the roads starting to freeze over. So, after that fun of going back down the hills at about 5mph, I try my luck on the south side of Colorado Springs.
First up, I hit the Gamecrazy just south of MLK on Academy. I had been really looking forward to hitting them since I keep reading about great deals there and we just don't have any in Kansas. Unfortunately, was quite disappointed. Kindof like a small EB/GS without much in the way of vintage games.
Then I head up Academy to the Target there. Lots of clearance stuff including some stuff I've never seen before. I picked up X-Men Legends :gc: non-GH version for $5. There was still another one or two there. Als for $5, they had copies of DBZ Budokai for Gamecube and DBZ Sagas for XBox. There was one copy of Gunpey for the DS for $7. Also, some random stuff like that PS2 golf game for $35, a Wii and Zelda branded backpack for $20, and some DS stylus packs for $5. Lastly, there was some decent software there like Pirates, city of Villains, and Paint Shop Pro X but they were a little higher than I was looking to pay.
I couldn't find the Toys R Us that was supposed to be somewhere in the same area so I was getting a bit discouraged. Finally, I see the other Gamecrazy a little further up on Academy and decide to stop in. I saw signs for the aforementioned 3 for $10 classic plastic sale and I knew I had made the right choice. Also, thankfully there was a patient guy working there- actually got to talking to him for about a half hour after buying some stuff, good guy.
The selection wasn't the greatest as apparently there is a guy who comes in from time to time and buys up all the rare stuff *cough*ebayer?*cough*. But I was able to fill some holes in my collection for a little over $3 apiece. The one downside is that very few of the games came with manuals or boxes or anything, but, still, I Was happy.
Here's the damage:
NES: Gradius, Baseball Simulator 1.000, Bases Loaded 3, Bionic Commando
SNES: Super Game Boy
N64: Zelda: OOT, Turok
DC: Shenmue, Space Channel 5, Timestalkers (complete), Resident Evil 3
PSX: FF Origins (complete), Syphon Filter 3 (complete), Guardians Crusade, and Crash Bandicoot 2
Sure, it's not all gold but quite a few of those were games I had been looking for and didn't want to pay "vintage store" prices while some of the others were just good finds. They actually had quite a bit of older stuff there, but it looked pretty picked over. They have a giant bin of CDs in slim CD cases and there are probably some gems there I just didn't see. Plus, there is a lot of old stuff in the cases as well, just waiting to be snagged on the cheap.
Anyways, it's definitely time to stop with the game buying as I have no idea how I'm getting this in the suitcase to get home (clothes? who needs em?) and I've spent quite a bit too much on this trip already.

I just posted this in the K-Mart thread, but I'll post here in case anyone doesn't check that forum.
Just hit up my Big K in Wichita (off Kellogg). Not a lot of available titles left without the red stickers and stickered-over UPCs, but in the cases, I did manage to find:
Rainbow 6: Lockdown (PS2) - $2
Eye Toy Antigrav with Eye Toy (PS2) - $5
Polarium (DS) - $3
Metroid Pinball (DS) - $3.50
True Swing Golf (DS) - $3.50
I only bought one copy og each for myself. I didn't see anymore R6's at that price, but I did leave at least one Polarium, one Metroid Pinball and one True Swing Golf. Also, I price-checked Advance Wars DS and it rang up $34.99, so it definitely is YMMV. And Eye Toy Play 2 rang up at $50, so that one's YMMV too.
If there hadn't been any of those damn red stickers, I would have made out like a bandit. I wanted their last copy of Shadow of Rome, but I wasn't going to pay $30. And I also saw Hanuting Ground for $15 as well and non-GH copies of Tales of Symphonia for the GC.

Scoped out the Target on Choteau Trfy and the other by Metro North Mall this morning. No games at either of them in the clearance section. The only thing I saw video game related was two of those Wii Zelda backpacks for $9.98.
I'm sure some of you have read the Best Buy clearance thread. Has anyone hit any of the Kansas City area stores to see if there are any of these titles left? I'm hoping to hit the Metro North location tomorrow and scope it out. From what I've read most people are planning to pick up the games today or tomorrow then have the difference refunded after the prices drop on Monday.

I really dislike BB but I hope they pull the same stuff Target does with their clearance and as much as I like TRU, I wish they would do the same every time they had a clearance. That way there's not a ton of pre-buying and pricematching.
Depending on when I get off of work, I'll try to check out a couple of BB's around town Monday to see if there is anything.

FYI- checked out the BB's at 115th and Metcalf and 119th and I-35 down in OP/Lenexa/Whatever for my lunch break (~11:30) and they had a couple of handfulls of junk and not much else. They had updated the tags but there just wasn't much there to begin with. I talked to a guy at the 115th/Metcalf store and he said they had very little of the stuff on the list to begin with. The 119th store had about 5 copies of MGS 3 for $10 but that's all that really jumped out, oh and about 5 copies of one of the crap $2 games for XBox- Marc Ecko's Getting Up, iirc.
Didn't even bother with Lawrence since it's such a hoarder's haven. Wish I had to work in Topeka today, there's an off chance they had some stuff but I'm sure it's gone now.

Lawrence was TOTALLY cleaned out by 11am Monday. By the time I got there, all i could find was a copy of SRS: Street Racing Syndicate for the Cube. Probably not even worth the 1.99--but i bought it anyway. There was also three different groups of people walking around with printed lists. Total bust.

Like I said, Lawrence BB is about the worst place in the world for hoarders. Not even worth trying but glad you could verify :)

Looking at the CompUSA store locator posted in the CompUSA thread, we're going to lose the CompUSA in OP :(
Might be some good clearance opportunities like when the one in Independence closed.

At the last big BB clearance I showed up the day of at 10:05 a.m. on 95th Street. There were two guys dressed in business clothes and a cart full of games. They were both talking to others who were clearly at the other BB's in town ("Yes, Paper Mario is for GAMECUBE". It's across from the Gameboy games. Be sure and check behind all the PS2 games just in case" etc. etc.). Somehow I gathered that they worked for one of the local game stores (likely Gameco). I don't remember what made me think that so maybe I'm wrong - probably just bitter...
I have done my share of traveling myself and have to say KC is one of the harder places to find the really hot deals. I haven't determined for myself what the cause is, but doing so much traveling, have you had the same experience? I go to Texas and Minnesota fairly frequently and am blown away by the deals that are still sitting out there untouched on shelves. Back in KC...tumbleweeds and wind whistling as I wander through BB or Target looking for a deal.

I agree with you as well. I am amazed at how quicly any and all cheap games disappear in the KC stores. The funny thing is that whoever is doing it is probably reading this form right now. I just don't buy games anymore, really. I rent from BB with my monthly coupon. I predict that I will buy one game this whole year.

I have a feeling the reason I struck out at my store (Liberty) is due to it's age. I think that location has only been open for about a year or two tops. They probably didn't have hardly any of the clearance games to begin with.

BTW I don't know if anyone has hit the Gamerush stores but they're having a 50% off new games sale. Not nearly as great as the BB deal but worth a look. The GR near Antioch Mall as of yesterday had a couple of endcaps full of the sale games. When I was there it looked like they may be in the process of labeling more games and pulling a bunch of DVD's.

I dunno, really. I don't have all that many points of comparison. I know when I've gone to Iowa City, it's like Lawrence- it's a midwest college town with very little to find. Columbia, Mo is the same way- it's just the way it is. When there are more people just trying to make ends meet, there are more people who can spend lots of time to make a little money.
Kansas City is another matter- comparing it to Lawrence or Columbia is hardly a fair test as they're very different cities. In the recent post about Colorado Spri
