View Full Version : Moderators gone wild!

The moderators here, especially Shrike, are being quite nasty these days.

Banning the sale or trade of promotional material, or anythingthing that has "do not sell" written on it.

Banning people from tading because 1 of their 5 feedback is negative (I was going to trade with him for a game I really want before shrike chased him away from CAG).

Now I am not attacking anyone, I am just saying MAYBE the mods could be a little more tolerant and only interfere when there is an actual problem or violation of the rules. Going after people for trivial crap is really petty.

Don't kill the messenger.

What gives?

With the negative being he let's his evil friend use his account.

I like to look at negatives more like this, if you ripped someone off you should be banned. Also some negatives never get reported, even though people PM mods about the trade.

It's a bloody message board. If anyone actually gives a shit about anybody, thinking they have actually made freinds, than they are pathetic.

I'm not on anyone's side, but I say that nothing should be risked. On CAG, I wouldn't want to do a deal with someone, and then find out they didn't send it, or left CAG and I lost out. I don't think there should be a risk taken there, CAG's not like eBay and PayPal that has protection policies, CAG is independent, and CAG wants to avoid people not getting their items.

You would be complaining a millions times more if something happened to you that you didn't get your item or something else. I can't say I know if Shrike looked into what happened or what all happened exactly, but I think actions need to be taken if someone receives a negative feedback.

as many times as people put "in before the lock", people have put "people need to stop putting in before the lock"...which ironically keeps the thread alive as well

and IMHO, bad threads are good sometimes...when someone creates a bad thread, it gives a little more information on the OP who started that bad thread...it lets us know who we should waste our time caring about what they say and who we should just ignore

that may be true but if anything it shows the idiocy of the person who posted "in before the lock"

I'm very laissez fair in posts. Why delete? why lock, if there is a bad post the people will decide that it is bad and not post in the thread.

not necessarily...while it's annoying as hell, it's the same thing as saying, "good luck with keeping this thread open" or "be careful, this isn't the best topic in the world" and it lets the OP realize that they made a mistake by creating the topic....i do hate it when i see someone posting "in before the lock" in a thread that isn't going to be locked...which might be the case with this one....as long as we can get this thing back on track and on-topic

Personally, I couldn't care less about most of the policework that's been going on lately. It's usually for the best. Unfortunately it's damn near impossible to remove all the idiotic topics like "Should I eat the brown or green booger?" or the infamous "The Rotation console will be the roxor , and the turnaround box is the suxiest !"

Although, somebody censored me last week and deleted a few personal attacks I made against some 360 fanboi who likes to talk smack. It kinda miffed me for a few minutes but I got over it. Would have liked to know who it was and why it was, though.

1st mod post in the thread!

no, but really... on a serious note:

I have been an ass lately, particularly to the OTT'ers and some of the other mods, and I should use this thread to my advantage a publicly apologize.

I'm sorry about any of the rude comments or actions i have taken in the last few weeks. Also, specifically to punq- Sorry for calling you a name in the last OTT... it was completely uncalled for and unneccessary. I should have respected your decisions, and I will do so in the future.

Thanks for hearing me out everyone. :)

Why is it okay for ebgames and gamestop to sell those "not for sale" games and we can't?
So no promo items are allowed? This include games that came bundle with a system or any special promo like zelda collectors edition, super mario 64 ds, metroid prime, etc. Since all of them has the not for resale logo. All those games are obtain legit and wasn't stolen or bootleg. I don't understand why we can sell gba flashcart or modded system but not promo items.

Usually we can sell promo items. Whatever mod it was, probably had his panties in a bunch that day.

Well a couple weeks ago I seen a gamcube and xbox both were modded and were for sale. Nobody was giving them a hardtime and I know for a fact that someone bought a gba flashcart here. It was lefted on someone feedback.

Shrike most likely, the problem with promo items has been that people keep trying to sell promos and betas for games that haven't been released yet.

Shrike never catches all of that stuff but I wouldn't be surprised if the xbox and gc listings were removed after a few days.

cent #1 : moderators overstep their bounds when they've stepped on *your* toes. When they step on other people's toes, they're just doing their "job" and deserve credit.

cent #2: moderators = any other CAG posters + little tiny bit more moderation in their posts, due to a perceived responsibility to be more grown up. However, this doesn't mean that they have any more brains than any other poster. So, don't be surprised if they do something just as dumb as the malarky you pull.

Quack, if you'd like, I'll be happy to discuss all of your concerns via PM.

If you honestly had the faintest clue what happens in managing the trade forum, in both policing it for items we can't sell, as well as dealing with potential trade problems, you wouldn't be trying to single the mods out for doing our jobs.

30,000+ people to deal with isn't an easy job of any proportion. If you think you can deal with things better, go right ahead and talk to Cheapy, it's his site and he's my boss in the mod issues. He can revoke my mod duties as he sees fit, and if you think I'm doing something wrong, go ahead and talk to him about it.

EULAs and TOS agreements for betas vary, and for the most part, they're not for sale, under any circumstances, while the beta is in progress, and unknown when they're done with. All of them vary, and we err on the side of asking they not be for sale. As I don't have the EULA and TOS for every beta handy, and actually, only the people participating have access to those bits of info.

The modded consoles situation is simple. CAG doesn't allow their trafficing, for sale or trade. Period. No questions asked.

Not For Sale items are usually OK, though sometimes, they're not.

And in any case, if something changes hands here, and there's legal repurcussions about it, they won't go after your ass, they'll go after Cheapy's, regardless of what the CAG TOS states.

And if you're referring to the Captain Flaps issue in your "1 out of 5 feedback were negative" situation, then there's much more in the way of circumstances beyond that.

As I said before, if you have any issues with my conduct here on CAG as a mod, as well as policing the trade forum, you're more than welcome to bring it up via PM to me, any other mod, or CheapyD. All making a thread like this does is generate lots of "In B4 Lock" and flame-ridden posts. I'd prefer the one-on-one discussion, myself.
