well, being that slavery was abolished over a century ago, we do not have any ex-slaves in this state unless they managed to live beyond the ripe age of 120 years old or so. believe it or not we have paved roads and cars in the south, we wear shoes in public, and having relations with your 1st cousin is frowned upon.

Yeah, but there are a ton of lurkers, at least for Montgomery. My younger brother is one of them. Argyle lives in Montgomery, as do I.. and I think I've seen another 2 or 3 from around here post. Munch is about 45 minutes away, and hits Prattville Kmart alot (where I'm from for the most part, about 10 minutes north of Montgomery). I'm a little surprised to see a couple of Dothan CAG's.. I bet getting CC/Kmart deals down there is a cinch considering the population for the area.

That reminds me.. I need to update my Cheapass Glorious $2 carton of Camels at Entec thread.. I have a couple more stories to share. However.. my g/f got shot down attempting to snag one of the cartons last night :)

Went to TRU today and could not find anything worthwhile. I was going to get the replacement PSP batteries I saw there a few weeks ago for 7 bucks but those were all gone. I finally did decide to pick up the old 3 Month Xbox Live starter kit. Only 5 bucks so if I wanna screw with some people on Xbox Live I always could make a new account, or I'll probably just add it to the existing year I already have left. Also picked up Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath on Xbox for $5.20. Got too lazy to go to Rhyno's, maybe tomorrow after work.

I posted this in another thread, but I'm pasting it here since it's a local story. Check it out:

Funny story though involving northerners coming to rob someone in the south. Last week, a local EBGames was robbed of ALL of their 360 consoles (EB on Atlanta Hwy). It was in the paper and everything.. but I know the manager there. Here's how it went down.

Two guys show up to the shop. Before anything, one pulls a car around back to the back door of the store. Then, they smoke a blunt in front of the store. Afterwards, both enter the shop. One goes towards the back of the store, and the other starts to trade in two PS3 games that were still sealed (likely stolen). The trader presents his NY state drivers license, and provides ALL of his information to the employee (and the pic in the license matched).

In the middle of the trade, the other person opens the door to the back area of the store.. jams open the door to the alley.. and proceeds to toss all of the 360's back there into his trunk. Another employee tried to stop them, but the thief starts to break out a pistol.. and the employee says "whoah man, just take the shit." They don't go for the register or anything.. just take the systems. Afterwards, they bolt out the door and leave.

I think they've busted the guys since they got one of their DL's and personal info. They had a NY tag too on the vehicle. I haven't been back into the store to get the rest of the story yet, but it's pretty funny (at least nobody got hurt, as Montgomery is getting pretty bad about shootings). If you're going to steal something from a game store.. don't use the actual driver's license to trade beforehand.

I also grabbed Polarium, Zoo Keeper, Advanced Wars, and Super Swing Golf from the K-Mart on Northport. I think i'm trading AW and Zoo Keeper, though. If anyone can get Indigo Prophecy for the PS2 I'd appreciate it!

Yep, it was $20... I'd seen the clearance thread with $7, but it rang up at $19.99 and I'd been trying to find a flipping associate for so long that I just didn't feel like haggling over it. Just picked up one that night, I'm pretty sure there're at least two left there. Or there were on Friday night, at least.

This is not game-related, but to any CAGs in Birmingham, the OfficeMax across from Century Plaza (near the former Eastwood Mall, and immediately beside TJ Maxx and Big Lots) is going out of business on Sunday and have had some pretty great deals coming out from the back to the floor at random over the past week or so.

I picked up a great iPod dock clock radio, saw it at Target for $80, for only $12. Got an awesome leather binder/organizer that retails at $50 for $10. Grabbed a nice wireless keyboard/mouse combo for $5 and a few other office-related items. I saw a dude get an HP photo printer and an all-in-one unit (printer, scanner, fax) for a combined $35. They had digital camera display units for sale yesterday, but I'm broke so I passed.

Might want to check 'em out, though...might come across a nice bargain.

It shouldn't be too long before nothing is left, especially considering the growth of Trussville.

I used to make a few trips to those stores a long time ago. I know one was on Lakeshore (about a mile and a half away from the old Regions Deposit Ops building, next to Regal Cinemas), and the other was in Centerpoint. Haven't seen them in years though. They carried a shitload of old games; that's where I picked up most of my old Saturn titles. They also had some damned good prices on old rare games.

If you find out, post it. Next time I'm in Bham, I'd probably stop by.

Yeah, I've gotten some amazing deals there. FFT black label, mint, $10. Xenogears black label, mint, $15. Not to mention they usually have a pretty good selection of last and last-last gen games.

Unfortunately, the one on Lakeshore shut down years ago, and once the one on Montgomery Hwy. "moved" as well, I haven't been able to find them. I tried calling the Trussville location, but the phone number was disconnected, so I believe it's defunct as well.

The only "local" game shop that I know of right now is Zone 1 out in Chelsea on 280. They do have some older games, but their selection is no where near what Game XChange's was.

Edit: Upon some further research it looks like Replay might still be in business as well. There's supposedly one each in Pelham, Fairfield and Bessemer. I think I may try and scout those out this week.

So I tried checking out the Replay near Trussville. Out of business I guess? Pretty much a wasted trip.

Checked out the one in Hueytown, and it was kind of hard to find. I wasn't impressed though, it was no where near as nice as the Lakeshore store used to be. A lot of their prices were about the same as GameStop. You might get a better trade in rate, but it wouldn't be worth driving that far across town over. They did have quite a bit of SNES/NES titles but I didn't really look at those.

The only positive side to the trip was being able to stop by a few pawn shops, but unfortunately I didn't find anything either.

If you pass by the 280/Chelsea area I would recommend stopping by Zone-One Games as their (recent) selection is only slightly better than Replays was, but their prices can be pretty decent. They do usually offer a few more dollars than GameStop on tradeins, but I suppose it is only worth it if you buy something right away or you live nearby.

Probably disc only, but might be worth a shot if you're really jonesing for it. They also have a 1600 marketplace card for $39.99 (Movie Gallery pricing is pretty retarded IMHO)

I did last time I went, in addition to the games outside of their "video games" section, but their stock was still kind of meh. I've always had better luck at TRU when I'm in Atlanta. I don't know what it is about this store, it's in a decent location but it's really ghetto.

I miss the Eastwood TRU. :(

Though the Galleria TRU has made some pretty drastic improvements in their R-Zone over the past year or so, it was pretty dismal for a while (messy, poor selection, etc) - while I never had problems finding stuff at the old Eastwood location.

Plus, as you guys have alluded to, having one more TRU would mean one more possible place to find their clearance titles.

On a semi-related note, I'm kinda surprised that their old building still sits vacant. Granted, the Eastwood area isn't much better off than it was when TRU left (just look at the state of Century Plaza), but still - with as much retail activity that has blown up literally right across the street this year, it seems like someone might have snatched up a lease on that pretty great spot by now.

Yeah, there are (surprisingly) still stores left in the building. The vast majority of the the mall is vacant. Out of all of the possible store locations, I'd say only around 1/3 of them are being used, and out of those, the vast majority (like literally 4 out of 5 stores) are either shoe stores or urban-wear stores.

FYE left within a matter of months after they opened there, Radio Shack is still there, and the India Shoppe is still there. The major shoe/athleticwear retailers (Champs, Foot Locker, Footaction, Finish Line) are still there. It's a really sad building to walk around in.

I'm not sure why Sears stays. I'm not complaining, I shop there every now and then, but it's always pretty much totally void of customers and it's still the only anchor store left at the mall.

Huntsville is a nice place, and I have a lot of friends up there. I thought about moving up there since there are a ton of IT jobs up there, but also have a lot of family down here. Good luck with moving to Huntsville!

Where is that in Madison? I used to live right across the street from Bob Jones on Hughes. Madison is a good place to be, IMO. There's not a lot of stuff to do, but it's one of the better places to live in Alabama.

It's actually down on Zeirdt Rd, past Sunlake Apartments. I picked it because a) it's new, b) it's secluded, and c) it's literally like 4 miles from Research Park and by Redstone Arsenal. I had considered Sunlake Apartments and Colonial Grand as they're waterfront on a lake (maybe go fishing when bored), but I've seen alot of bad reviews on both. Plus Colonial is like $880 for a 2 bedroom.. I find that a little outrageous, because they aren't exactly "luxury" apartments in my opinion. The Colonial owned complexes in Montgomery are ran like ass.. it seems to be a trend.

It's a systems engineer job with one of the contractors, but I'll be traveling occasionally to California and even Iraq. I kind of want to be close to everything, but out of the way of it all at the same time. Of course.. I need to figure out the CAG points of interest in the area :)

Whatever you do, don't go to the Station on Madison Blvd. I literally went there 4 times a week one summer. They do have a nice karaoke set up if you get plastered and want to sing Clarence Carter, which I did repeatedly.

How are they looking on PC games, percentage off for stuff like PC speakers/home A/V equipment, etc??? I'm sure the markdown increments are going to slowly crawl further down. Any concrete final day on their operations (or rumors of one from the employees)?

Irondale K-Mart: If anything is on clearnance you'll have to scan it, they don't keep up with anything here. Good luck. Did see a Tiger Woods 08 PS3 for $5 a week ago or so.

Irondale Wal-Mart: 2 Copies each of Army of Two (PS3 / XBX) and Valykria Chronicles for $19.96.

Galleria TRU: Bunch of crappy Wii games. NHL 2k8 (PS3) or something in the clearance bin. Also Fracture if I recall.

Galleria SEARS: Who knows, category is a wreck, can't bring myself to wade through the crap of trying to get an employee to scan all the titles I'm interested in. Everything in their clearance bin is just poorly priced (Gears of War 1 PH for 29.99).

BBV 280/Irondale/Summit (Overton):
Only notables I found were Samurai Bikini Squad XBX 14.99 and Armored Core 4 PS3 9.99. Think both had Bad Company. not much else to speak of, the rest is out of case stuff. Some decent out of case XBX stuff, ton of PS2 crap.

If anyone sees those SOCOM bundles drop, let me know been eying it for awhile now. Other than that try to save me one of the X Blades.

Seeing that list actually makes me miss Circuit City, I was able to get a ton of great deals there. CompUSA was always a bust, but I could at least count on Circuit City to have something decent.

I don't remember what their used deals are like, but they do take trade-ins and last I checked the values were pretty decent. I'll have to make a note of it to stop by next time I'm out there.

Also anyone who's looking to take advantage of the Gamestop sale this week of $5 used XBX Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1, there are no 'complete' copies in the Bham area, checked (both Trussvilles, Vestia (had 1 I took), 280, and Irondale). Plenty of disc only copies though. Although this isn't that great of a deal since you can get the MAU/Forza 2 bundle for $15 at most gamestops. Highly recommend the game for $5 though, lots of play time.

Decent selection but nothing to write home about - as usual I was pretty focused on PS3 so I might have missed some decent XBX titles. In the future if you're looking for used games this seems to be the only BBV in the area with any worth a damn. Most were incomplete, jacked up blue cases - but I'm guessing their selection 2 weeks ago prior to the B1G1 sale was pretty decent.

So there's an update, pickings are somewhat slim right now. I do indeed miss CC - I lament that I was moving during most of their store closings and strapped for cash - some people made out like absolute bandits. I always had good luck at CompUSA (in Virginia) - but I worked there at the time and I can tell you that you never saw anything on clearance because every single title clearanced went to employees (with about an 80% ebay rate).

I'll have to check out that store Lobstah - I may do so today when I go back out to recheck Target 280. Chelsea isn't that bad of a drive for me as long as it's not during rush hour. I'll report back findings.

Vestavia BBV is where I picked up Endless Ocean, TWEWY and a couple of other titles in the B2G1 sale back in June. I haven't really seen anything since, so I don't think they convert their stock over very frequently.

I don't know how you're getting employees to scan in stuff at Target, but if you aren't already doing it you could use a UPC database (http://www.upcdatabase.com/itemform.asp) to print out the codes then scan them yourself. This is what I do whenever I'm shopping Target for certain clearance titles, easily lets me know if something has reflected the drop without having to wait on an employee to confirm the price.

Where is there a K-mart in Trussville? The only ones I know of that haven't shut down that I usually visit are the ones on Greensprings, and Pell City. I don't hit up Trussville very frequently, but it's nice to know there's a K-mart out there I can check.

It's closer to Penson (sp?), it's like the first exit on 59 off of 459. There's a Gamestop in the same area which is the only reason I went there (looking for MUA xbx complete - found that in Vestavia). Mountain Top or something like that?? I guess it's just on the outskirts of Trussville really. I really don't know Birmingham area well at all, only been here 2 years or so and in that time I haven't learned much.

Also I tried the NFL Tour XBX $20 off coupon https://myrewardzone.bestbuy.com/offerDetails.jspx?offerCode=20_OFF on a 19.99 NFL Tour at 280 Best Buy and their system shot me down, came out as $9.99. They said because it was already marked down. I told them no thanks! I would have fought it if I had any interest in the game other than trading it to GS, lol. Weird that the system overrode it though. Haven't heard of that. If anyone else wants to give it a shot they've got about 10 copies. Let me know how it goes. I'm going to give a shot at Trussville tomorrow I guess.

Oh on Zone 1 they only things they do have are some of the Final Fantasy remakes for PS1 - but they're all pretty much either MSRP or ebay. Looks like most of his pricing comes off Ebay. He is running a B2G1 free promo, but I couldn't find 1 title reasonably priced let alone 3 so I'm passing on that one.

Also stopped off at HHgregg 280 trying to find a good deal on an open-box HTIB but the ones they had they only had marked down a bit, again not much here.

Oh and my dog is crapping on my carpet now, guess that means too much CAG-ing.

Oh I just got lucky with the employees scanning stuff at Target, the price change team happened to be a couple of aisles over. I haven't used the UPC database yet, mainly because I'm too lazy, I supposed I should make a list of what I want and do that.

Replays is the only place I know that does it. Have you tried checking Movie Gallery/Blockbuster/Hollywood Video? I don't know if they do it at all.

FYI Walmart on 280 has Folklore for PS3 for $20, a ton of other $20 games but Folklore isn't easy to find for that price - no copies of Valykria Chornicles that I could see. Also the PS3 X Blades at 280 Target are gone - in fact most of their clearance games are gone, someone just went to town.

I wasn't able to, I tried 280 for the NFL Tour deal, and they shot me down. I hit up Trussville BB for the Xblades deal and no dice. (280 was out of Xblades). For some reason both local BBs register systems wouldn't let them do it - they only took them as far down as $9.99 - which is still a good deal for Xblades, but I passed in hopes the 280 Target would have it for PS3 for $7.48 - I suppose I shouldn't have passed now that they're sold out.

280 BestBuy is usually a crapshoot for me when it comes to deals. Too much foot traffic, and they usually refuse to do even simple things like price match. I almost always try to hit up the BestBuy on 150 in Hoover and generally have really good success there if I'm trying to get coupons and/or price matching to work.

Kmart in Irondale has a 60gb X360 HD in stock. Oddly it's still listed at $99.99 unlike every other Kmart in the country. This might be something to watch if you're looking for one. (Figured out why, it's the "Live Starter Set" and not just the HD).

Also last I checked the Target on 280 has some of the GHWT 2/1 guitar bundles for X360 still at 22.48. Oddly the only PS3 1 guitar bundle they have left is in a ripped up box and at 44.48 (which is weird because I bought the 2 guitar there for 22.48).

You can all pretty much bypass Target 280 this week, nothing really new, and I'm pretty sure they were done with their markdowns as the guy with the scanner seemed done - just a bunch of wii, psp, and pc games mostly. All the XBX markdowns haven't changed - most around $24, not a single PS3 game was there marked down. They've got 1 damned copy of Madden 09 PS3 that I'd pick up for 7.48 if they'd drop the price. Still 29.99. Also looks like they've started to leave DS and PSP games in the case that are clearance, so if you're looking for something specific check there too. Tried 3 different employees at HWV in Vestia and they all claim the $5 off new games is only games over $39.99 and/or those in the picture of the flyer. So no luck on that promo here. They do have a copy of PS3 Lego Batman, it's listed at 19.99 but I'm going to guess it rings up at $10. If anyone has any interest go ahead and pick it up, I know one of their employees is interested in it. I passed on it for now, but if no one at CAG picks it up by the weekend I might take it. Wii prob had the best selection as they had lego batman and SW:TFU.

Scored Alabaster (x3) and Hoover (x2) Xblades when they were free. No problem from either store except the guys at the door bag your games now?? gave up after that. Not enough competition... Target in Alabaster may be a good place for someone to troll. Lil too far for me to hit on the reg. Hollywood video has employees swipin all the goods, gave up on them long ago. Today I resolved to quit gamefly and buying games in gen until 2010. Not before I used my last $5 coupon for Far Cry 2 @ $8.83. Trusville Target didn't have much - at least nothing under $30. 19.98 Dynasty Warriors for 360. Nothing else worth mentioning. I'm pretty sure I'm giving up on this store.
Trusville BB - has some odd 50% off select games, but really nothing to write home about, Singstar 2 at retail w/ 50 off, isn't horrible if you need mics, but meh - had a Buzz on there as well but it looked like a return and didn't have the sticker on it.
280 Target - Same as last couple of weeks. They did some sort of large game scan a few days ago, but it didn't seem to be for clearance purposes... I snagged a PGR4 for 4.98 that was unlabeled. Didn't see more but there could be. Other than that, same old stuff.
280 BB - They've done a huge relay here, all their game stuff is up front now. Nothing new on clearance - same stuff they've had.

Thought you guys should know, after getting shot down by the 280 BB (some bullshit policy about how they don't pricematch Microsoft or Apple products) - the Hoover BB pricematched microcenter for me, meaning I'll have only paid $200 for my Xbox 360 Elite after the rebate! Huzzah! I also had conveniently attached an article about a class-action lawsuit against best buy for their lack of price-matching. I took them a print out of the ad (front page and interior w/ the 360), as well as the stock levels at the Marietta store. No problems at all. =)

Went to TRU last night (and almost got kicked out, but that's another story :lol:) mainly looking for PS3 titles, but it appears the pickings were already slim. I had guessed Uncharted 2 would already be sold out and it was.

I didn't really take a chance to look at anything else, as my DS/Wii collection is up-to-date at the moment. I probably should have looked at point cards, but it completely slipped my mind.

Additionally, the Walmart on 31/119 still had copies of Valkyria Chronicles, but marked at $39.98. I don't know if the $19.98 price is still good, but if anyone else needs a copy you can check.

Greensprings K-Marts got the 14.97 Star Ocean x360, picked one up today. They have 2 more left. Could flip on ebay for $30 if you don't want it - but that's a little much work for a $5 profit after listing/shipping/paypal fees for me. TIVs are $15 so no TIV flips either. For personal use though, great game great price. I'm pretty Greensprings K-Mart is a treasure trove, I just haven't had the time to pick through it. It seems they do a lot of markdowns without restickering after the first sticker or so. Unlike the Irondale K-Mart who never does their markdowns. They've also got 3 x GH Sealed Shadow of Colossus PS2 for $19.99.

Anyways here's your Target updates:
280 - not much, they did clearance more stuff, Pirates v. Ninjas Dodge ball for Wii, some of the NCAA 09 Basketball stuffs, and they still had the kids games, Up, etc. Only non-kid game worth mentioning was SOCOM PSP for 9.98. Oh they did have Star Wars Force Unleashed for 360 on the endcap, but not tagged. I've found this store does that a lot when a game hits 7.48 (pretty sure there's an employee doing this intentionally) - but since I have it on PS3 I didn't bother to go scan it. Hadn't seen it on discount before though so it could be 21.98. X-Men Origins still running at 41.98, GI Joe at something higher than I'd ever pay for it.

The new Target on route 150 (on the way home from the new office!). No markdowns to speak of, about 20 God of War PSP for 9.98, as well as the same PSP Socom for 9.98. I'm going to wait out GoW for a few weeks since they had so many and see if I can get it in the 7.48 or 5.98 range - I'd much prefer to have it as DLC since I hate carrying things like UMDs, but I'm not up for spending $20 on PSN... I'd buy so many games from PSN if they'd fix their damn pricing scheme.

In other CAG news I got my Lockerz t-shirt from them today, as well as Halo Wars from Gamefly in pristine condition.

In other OTHER CAG news, it's nice being a "veteran" now and not a noobie, although there are still a lot of elitist pricks hanging around the site, unfortunate because I think most of my posts have merit.

Sears - Only one title I got scanned came up as clearance, PoP PS3 at 19.97. I passed. Other than that everything is retail. They do have some copies of Persona 3 (29.99) - 2 copies, though, if anyone is looking for it. Even had one of the boxed Persona 3's with the strategy guide or whatever (59.99).

Hit Bessemer Target - not much there, they keep up with clearances but they're all still in the $24-30 range and nothing to drive out there for.
