So, you guys found any good deals in your area?

The Blockbuster in Teaneck (on Cedar Lane) has Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition (PS2), Oddworld Strangers Wrath, and Doom 3 for $9.99 each and they have a buy 2 get one free deal as well.

The BestBuy in Garden State Plaza is usually good for penny guides. I know they have had a few GTA:SA and Destroy all Humans left (as of 2 weeks ago), but I have not had the time to go there. They do not make a fuss about selling penny guides and the manager is cool about selling them. However, I have recently noticed that they started throwing away a lot of guides to make room for new games.

Although not in NJ, Palisades Mall is a great place for getting games and penny guides. The BestBuy always seems to have the best selection of guides in the area. Also, the Circuit City seems to always have bargin games somewhere in the back.

Asbury Park is making a serious comeback. In 5-10 years real estate will be impossible to buy unless you have tons of money. AC and Camden are total holes along with sections of Newark, Union and a few other places...

Yeah we have this crazy knack for knowing how to drive and not turn our land into a toxic waste dump. I hope someday we filter the water supply so my children and my children's children can somehow learn to emulate the utopia that is North Jersey. In all seriousness, there is a reason you people come down to Cape May and Stone Harbor for vacation.............it isn't the shithole you live in year-round. The abandoned high rise (condos) is gone as of a couple weeks ago. Another firm bought the land, and was going to continue the project, but the structure wasn't up to code, so they tore it down and are rebuilding from scratch.

I hope I don't sound like an Asbury Park fanboy, I actually live a few towns away. I just remember going to the Palace, Casino, arcades, and Convention Hall when I was a kid. Like all the pedal boats on Wesley Lake.

Try CD World on rt 46.They got some pretty good deals on used cd's and dvd's,and sometimes you might get lucky and find a good deal on used games.

I saw SF:AC at the Eatontown TRU yesterday, and it was $19.99 according to the shelf tag. I don't know if you'd want to travel all that way for a $20 game, but it's on Route 35 North in Eatontown, next to Borders, Exit 105 on the Garden State Parkway.

They seemed to have a lot of good titles, not too cleaned out by the sale. I wanted Stubbs the Zombie (they hadn't received it yet) and then I was going to two more titles for the buy 2 get 1 free sale.

Plus, it's really hard for me to spend money on Xbox 1 when I can put that money towards Xbox 360 games.

Regarding the KB toys clearance, here is a copy of the my post from the thread in the main deals section:

First, let me just say that I hate hoarders. At the first KB I went to, there were two guys buying everything. All copies of DK Junglebeat with and without drums (7 copies), and basically everything else in the store. I asked if I could have one - "No." I asked if they were ebaying them, and he said no - they own a store. They did 3 transactions, $1200 total. For us in NJ, they claim to have cleaned out the stores in Toms River, Lawrenceville, Brick, and Freehold, spending about $5K total. Needless to say, I walked out of there with nothing, except a glance at the list, which according to the CSR is about 1200 games. Also, even though they will say no, the orange tag promotion (buy 1, get 1 50% off is in effect), which is how I managed to get some games for $2.50 as noted below. Anyway, at two other KBs I managed to get the following:

I had a conversation with the manager, and apparently, at the regional KB manager's meeting this afternoon, they were topic of conversation. It seems that they have hit just about every KB in NJ (confirmed for Piscataway, Westfield, Woodbridge, Jersey Gardens, Freehold, Brick, Toms River, W. Caldwell, Paramus, Wayne, Secaucus & Livingston). In her store alone, they spent $1700 (she showed me the transaction log.)

If they spent about $1000 in each store, thats $12K (close enough to the $10K the one guy told me this afternoon) or 1200 games (using $7.50 as the mixed price point of $5 & $10).

The KB in Westfield that isn't far from my work still was ok for GBA games but didn't have much in the way of other systems. I picked up Breath of Fire II, DBZ Buu's Fury, DBZ Legacy of Goku II, Eye of the Beholder, Golden Sun Lost Age, Sword of Mana, and Castlevania Circle of the Moon for GBA and Arc the Lad Twlight of the Spirits for PS2. Unfortunately most of these I have already so they end up being Christmas gifts for another friend who likes RPGs.

Bedminster only has 2 liquor licenses for the entire town. There is a BestBuy not too far by the Bridgewater Commons Mall - it's only about 10 minutes down 287, get off at 202/206 exit then get off the exit for the mall. It's right across the street from the mall.

I was always told to go to a place called the Green Knoll Grill (i think thats the name) Many a fellow intern would get drunk there fridays after work. I know its only like 10 mins from the Warren office so it shouldnt be that far from the bedminster one.

That place used to be such a dive a few years ago - an old blue dilapidated building where a lot of scrungy locals hung out. I couldn't believe it was sitting on a $1 million+ liquor license. At least the new Pluckemin Inn befits the area a bit better, although I've never been in it.

As for the Nintendo DS $99 deal, I didn't bother checking Target yet, but I did print out the online ad and had the Circuit City off Rt. 28 do a 110% price match. Manager didn't bat an eye (of course I was also buying Mario Kart and Advance Wars, but hey...)

Well the DS I picked up is a gift so I won't know about any pixel problem until after Xmas. Are dead pixels a common problem with the DS? And is there a quick way to tell?

I wouldn't call dead pixels "common," per se, but they are inherent to any type of LCD technology; a certain % of any pixels will end up dead, depending on manufacturing methodologies. Some companies often refuse to exchange unless a certain number of pixels are dead (there was a big issue with Sony originally not touching PSPs with less than 3 dead ones), but Nintendo is honoring *any* dead pixels if a retailer refuses.

As for the DS, if you can manage not to mangle the end of the box by opening it, the unit typically comes with some battery charge remaining - fire it up and get a game in it if possible, then repackage it. Personally, I think the risk of it looking semi-opened outweighs the risk of having to return it post-Christmas and taking it away from whomever received it.

Also, dead pixels are most easily seen when the screen is displaying black, hence the recommendation to use an actual game - the built-in startup goes stark white upon boot and isn't of much help.

They have two bins at the register with multiple copies of a lot of whats in the OP.

Off hand I remember multiples of Rumble Roses, Transformers, Pikmin 2 (in the GC aisle), Fight Night 2 (these are in the display behind the counter), Klonoa 2, F Zero (or whatever its called for GBA), Tron 2 (GBA), Silent Hill 4, & Wrestlemania 21.

I went to the Elizabeth TRU around 12 pm. to see if there was anything left. Found the usual:

BloodRayne 2 (on shelf)
Killzone(on shelf)
Amplitude (in the bin)

Pikmin 2 (one left in the 10 buck bin)
LifeLine (one on the ps2 display case)
7 Geist (on the clearance table)

I think I did see samurai western on the shelf too. I found a couple of Baten Kaitos with the soundtrack. Didn't find silent hill4, bought one of the Pikmin 2 I found. Couldn't leave empty handed. >_<

Guys head to the circuit city in union. I was able to get Silent hill 4 for 13.96.
I saw a few other games like

I think the employees were collecting the games on the shelf and putting it into a clearance bin. I didnt stay to see if they were going to do that. Good Luck.

Old Bridge in the house, never any good deals around here. A ton of hoarders around here. On many occasion I have gone to check clearances and mobs of guys with the lists printed out are devouring the games.
The Walmart on Rt9 is very YMMV, nothing...nada...ever.

the store on rt 10 is one of the best in the area IMO, if you catch it quick they usually have some good stuff

while i was going to rutgers i noticed most stores there sucked because of rutgers being near by cheap ass college students........turn into cheap ass adults i guess

the area of rt 46 is hit or miss i think either ya get lucky or you get shafted cant really depend on them

Not sure how far away you are from Wayne, but the Willowbrook mall still has a pretty good arcade in it.

I don't go there too often, but they stay up to date with most of the new machines. They used to have a few tekken, SF, and marvel vs capcom machines so I'm sure they have whatever is being played now.

I went to that TRU last Saturday looking for some good deals on wireless controllers, but even after the 40% off it's not that cheap. They barely have any 1st party accessories, only Playstation ones, no GC or XBOX 1st party. Games selection seem decent, but then again 20% off isn't that good considering the deals we've seen from them.
I'd wait to go back there in a few weeks to see if there's a bigger % off on games & accessories.

I picked up a 12+1 Month Xbox Live card at the Parsippany TRU for $29.99 after the 40% off. Anything else worth picking up seemed to be OOS or still too expensive. If anyone is interested, they still had a bunch left last time I checked, but they were behind the counter as opposed to being on the shelf.

Regarding arcades, is there still that arcade in the Rockaway Mall? If I remember correctly, it is/used to be near FYE. I always forget to check everytime I go to the ever-expanding Rockaway Mall.

It is still there but they tried to turn it more into a family style arcade with those shitty games you get tickets for playing and you can trade them in for spider rings and stuff. Not the smoky, dark environment you want from an arcade. They do have some newer games, but everything is too expensive for me now.

I stopped by the Parsippany TRU today to see if they had anything worth getting left. In the 360 realm all they had were some wires, a bunch of faceplates, a ton of 3 month Live cards, 2 copies of Perfect Dark Zero, and 1 copy of Kameo.

They still had a bunch of other systems (Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and GBA SP) at 20% off. The games were missing a lot of course but there was still some stuff I needed there. They actually had a pretty good selection of Gamecube and DS games like Advance Wars DS, Castlevania DS, and the new Fire Emblem for Gamecube.

There was not much left at all in accessories for any videogame systems. Just a bunch of crappy 3rd party stuff.

Toywise they are still in pretty good shape, though when I checked the Lego section for a friend of mine I found that particular section had been decimated.

well there are a few problems with the break and fun n games at willowbrook

the break doesn't have any competition usually unless there is a big tournament being run there. stuff like clash, east coast championships, breakdown, etc. someone runs a weekly tourney on thursdays but i don't think anyone shows up. the machines run well at least

fun n games has people but most of them are scrubs or new guys, which is cool i guess. the only problem is that the street fighter 3: third strike machine has crazy problems with the controls, capcom vs snk 2 is in a small fucking cab and the controls are messed up too, and the 3 mvc2 (why 3???) are in nice big cabs but again the controls aren't perfect. tekken 5 works fine but they charge a dollar and only the mallrats play.

it's like they're trying to piss people off or something it's terrible

Another Central Jersey resident here (Edison to be precise). I'm at school in Pennsylvania (last semester!) but it's nice to know there are still Jersey-ites who keep on top of things.

And the grease trucks are awesome. So much cholesterol in such a small delicious package.

The BB on Route 22 in Union has plenty of them. I picked up about 10 yesterday and they completely refilled the thing by today. I have used 3 so far getting all 3 of the new season sets of Rurouni Kenshin. I plan to use 3 more tommorrow.

I haven't checked for it at the Route 18 store, but the one in Freehold and Woodbridge have them. Woodbridge had plenty when I was there on VD.

I wasn't paying attention and I missed my exit, and I could have swore I must have driven 900 miles waiting for a U-Turn before giving up and using one of those "NO TURNS" things in between the highways.

Route 18 South ends right before Belmar, so you would be forced to get off, then get back on going back North.

The Sears at Woodbridge Mall was so close to selling me the XBOX 360 subscription w/ pricematch yesterday...but the higher-up guy came by and was trying to match EVERY DETAIL on the Best Buy ad to the boxes THEY carried, and the reasoning he gave was that the "circles on their ad is in the middle of the box, and the one we sell has circles to the left. There's no model number or anything, how can we be sure it's the same item?" o_O How ANAL can you be?!?! He even started to yell, saying "it's NOT the same thing! We can't sell it to you, we'd be making no profit!" Well, DUH! Why even bother with the price match policy then?!?! I felt he was too dumb for me to waste my time trying to explain to him there's only 1 kind of 12-month subscriptions to XBOX Live there are (not that I use it).

The GOOD thing is, earlier that day I went to Sears Essentials in Piscataway to try the PM, they turned me down noting it was a misprint, but I found Castlevania CoD in a plastic box (those security ones) that has a 9.97 sticker on it! It scanned in at $19.97, but I read their Price Accuracy Pledge, even had to point it out to the guy in the Electronics dept, and says they'll charge the lower price if it scans in higher than labeled. It also says if the item is $5 - $100, they'll take $5 off (if <$5 it's free)...so I paid $5.27 including tax for the sealed Castlevania CoD!!! ^_^

Not sure if they are tough to find anymore -- but the Target in Edgewater, NJ has about 3-4 360's under glass as of 3/29. Obviously, you might as well call the store first to be certain.

At the walmart in Toms River, the only decent thing they have clearanced is Marvel Nemesis for $19.97...I think they only have GC left. Although..If I remember correctly...that game sucks.
