External HDD Help! [Mobile/Archive]

So I just put together the external and plugged it in and the drivers updated and all that junk. I go to my computer and it is no where to be found. I go to the device manager and it says that it is working fine. Which leads me to I have know idea whats going on, everything seems to be working fine but I cant find the External HDD anywhere. Thanx in advance for any info provided

Format the drive to NTFS or FAT32 yet?

no, i didnt think u had to do that with an external. Im a novice with some technical aspects. On the instructions it was pretty much plug and play.

Nope, definetly have to format it. Usually the drive comes with software to help you do this. My seagate did when I did the same thing months ago.

how many drives do you have on your system? after you've rebooted your system go into CONTROL PANEL -> ADMINITRATIVE TOOLS -> COMPUTER MANAGEMENT -> DISC MANAGEMENT. you should be able to see all of your drives, hidden or not. maybe the drive letter is the same as another drive.
