Or so say our friends at Best Buy. Go go customer centricity111111111

According to the customer survey, nearly 60% of consumers plan to purchase consumer electronics as gifts this coming holiday. Flat screen TVs top the list of most desired items, but the retailer has indicated that there are always hurdles to cross for consumers to plunk down their cash on electronic gifts, especially for videogames.

80% of respondents indicated that shopping for gifts is the main source of increased stress during the holidays.

To address this, Best Buy has been 'transforming' a number of stores to have drastically increased customer service capabilities. As we've covered previously, the new stores (http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=878&Itemid=2) have expanded sections and support for certain areas, including videogames.

"Shoppers will find that Best Buy stores now reflect a better understanding of what customers need and how they like to shop," said Mike Linton, chief marketing officer, Best Buy. "Stores are set up with displays that not only highlight hot gift ideas, but also show what accessories you will need to get the most from those gifts. The stores feature knowledgeable non-commissioned Blue Shirts, a broad selection of products to meet any lifestyle, and services designed to help consumers get connected."

No commission but they're on a quota they have to meet in order to get raises, or not fired. They'll push the warranties, push the accessories, and push the used games if Bestbuy ever goes nationwide with that.

last i was in BB (2 weeks ago?) i noticed someone asking me if they could help me...like i needed another set of eyes to scan their crappy clearance rack of Constantine and Rocky for Xbox and the other 3 game i can't remember.

on a similar note, Blockbuster has been greeting me each time i go in to check out a movie for the weekend. "Is there something you are looking for tonight". Umm yeah a movie, now back the fuck up and let me peruse your selection...oh yeah and watch my two crying kids while I shop.

How true. On the day that the Friday The 13th box set came out, I couldn't find any on the shelves. Finding an employee was like a Where's Waldo's puzzle.

On a day when I'm carrying a stack of DVD's and CD's, I get asked for help every few minutes.

How good could you be if you can't meet your sales goal? Come on, it's not that hard. I did it for 2+ years.

I could type a two page rant. But I will leave it at this I have worked retail for a while now, and I have learned that no one reads signs not even employee's.
